Chapters Moving On For The Better Life
Ever since Princess Twilight had left the Mirror World for good she had been single. After her time with Flash Sentry along with Sunset Shimmer, her obsession over the yellow and blue haired human teen was finally over. She knew it was for the best. They were from different worlds. An interdimensional relationship just wasn’t logical.
However while she had made what she considered to be the best decision, she also felt very empty inside. It has been a very long time since she had an actual boyfriend and she wasn’t even sure she really count her time with Flash as him being her boyfriend considering most of their time together had been spent with her lying about who she was and not being straight with him about being a princess.
While she knew moving on from Flash was the best it was much harder to move on from how he made her feel and the fact she might never find someone who would make her feel that way again given her luck with males. But that was the funny thing about luck. When the old love went away, new love was often right around the corner.
Twilight’s Castle
Twilight sat in her large ornate bed inside her crystal castle reading from her private collection of books. The book she was reading now was a fairytale about a princess who stayed in her tower waiting for a knight to save her.
As she read she felt sadness pull at her heart strings. Ever since leaving Flash and the Mirror World behind romance stories made her feel melancholy at her lack of a love life.
“Twilight!” Spike called as he entered the room. Twilight jumped slightly and scrambled to put the book under her bed.
“Hi Spike!” Said Twilight. Smiling and trying to act casual.
Spike raised an eyebrow. He had lived with Twilight long enough to not be fooled by her large smile. He had a pretty good idea what Twilight had been doing before he came in. “Are you reading one of those fairytale books again? You've been reading non stop for almost a month now, what gives?”
Twilight signed and looked down in shame. The past month she had spent most of her time reading romance book after romance book. She hadn’t ignored her princess duties, but she hadn’t put her all into them either. She sighed, unable to hide her personal problems anymore. “Because I…. I… want…..” She continued to pause multiple times until Spike walked up to her.
“What is it Twi?”
“I want someone who really wants me forever!” She shouted in embarrassment.
Spike raised an eyebrow. Confused by Twilight’s odd sentence but quickly figured out what she meant. “You mean you what somepony to love?”
Twilight nodded and looked down at her silk bedspread. Feeling embarrassed about her pathetic love life. “Yes I want somepony to love.”
“Is this about Flash Sentry again?” Twilight had said she was over Flash and didn’t regret breaking up with him but her constant pining for live and a partner seemed to counteract those claims.
Twilight shock her head. “No. It’s not about Flash.”
“Then what’s going on?”
Twilight signed. “Just because I’m over Flash doesn’t mean I’m over being in love. I still want somepony to love. Being with Flash made me feel things I’ve never felt before. Things I never thought I’d ever feel. As a filly I became so engrossed in books and study I never thought about colts or love. I read about it of course when I went through puberty..” A half smile graced Twilight’s lips as she thought back to her fillyhood and her hours trying to understand love by reading romance book after romance. “But it just seemed so crazy. The way it was described and the things it made ponies do just seemed so illogical. But now that I’ve actually experienced it I just can’t get it out of my head. I want to experience those kinds of emotions again, only with somepony that can last.”
Spike said nothing as he contemplated Twilight’s words. He understood Twilight’s feeling. Probably better than most. The second he had laid eyes on Rarity he had been smitten with her. She had made him feel things he had never felt before. But unlike Twilight he had known it was love in an instant.
“I know how you feel Twilight. I feel the same way about Rarity. I know everyone already knows how I feel about her but I don’t care. I’m gonna win Rarity’s heard no matter how long it takes..”
Twilight looked at the small dragon and couldn’t help but smile. He may not have been her blood but he’d certainly inherited some of her traits. Like her stubbornness once her mind was set on accomplishing something. Still, these past few months had helped teacher how unhealthy it was to continue to pine for something you couldn’t have. “Spike there’s something you need to tell you.”
“What is it Twi?”
Twilight signed. She good out of bed and walked over to the small dragon and wrapped her wing around him. She knew this day would come but she always imagined it going a bit differently. “Spike I was hoping you would realize this yourself but the fact is you don’t have a chance of being with Rarity.”
Spike’s eyes went wide and his mouth opened up in what Twilight knew would be a rebuttal but she cut him off. “I know because Rarity told me so. She told me that while she does care about you she doesn’t feel the same way about you that you feel about her. She never told you because she was hoping you would realize it yourself and move on.”
Spike opened his mouth but no words came out. He wanted to yell. To scream that she was wrong. That she was lying just to try and hurt him or playing some cruel prank. But his rational mind knew better. Twilight would never try to intentionally hurt him. And her stone face told him this wasn’t a joke. Still wanting to deny it he poured through his memories for moments that disproved Twilight’s clam. Moments that proved she loved him. He found a few. Like the time she had saved him from being a monster. But for every good moment he found two not so loving moments. Like charming him out of his birthday ruby, or using as a pin cushion, or a maid. The things that really drove the point home however was the memory of her pinning over Trenderhoof and saying he could never understand a one sided love. If that didn’t prove his very obvious advances were in vain, nothing did
He looked down at the ground and felt hot tears begin to form in his eyes. He tried to be strong in front of Twilight. Tried not to cry in front of her. But he familed. Tears streamed down his face and choked sobs escaped his chest.
Twilight held the dragon close as he hugged her and she patted his back. Saying nothing as she waited for his emotions to run their course. In her mind she had always imagined this scenario as either Spike getting over Rarity or Rarity being the one to break Spike’s heart. Never did she imagine it Spike’s tears would be her fault. The thought send a knife in her chest. If there was one person she never wanted to hurt it was Spike.
Twilight wasn’t sure how long the two stood there. Just that it was a while before Spike finally calmed down. For a fire creature he sure had a lot of water in his eyes. Twilight pulled back and looked at Spike’s puffy bloodshot eyes. “Better?”
Spike sniffed and nodded. “Did? Did she say why?”
Twilight bit her lip. Wondering if she should tell him the cold hard truth. ‘He deserves to know.’ her mind said. Again Twilight signed. Knowing she was about to break her young charge’s heart again. “It’s because your a dragon.”
“What!”
Twilight nodded. “She says it just doesn’t feel right. She says that while she likes you as a friend she just can’t picture herself being romantically involved with a dragon.”
Spike wasn’t sure what to say. Of all the reasons for Rarity to not want to be with him being a dragon was near the bottom. She had always seemed fine with him and never shown any displeasure toward drago… well, she had never shown any displeasure toward him for being a dragon at least.
“Please don’t be mad at her Spike. That’s just the way some ponies are. Like I said she does consider you a wonderful friend and doesn’t ever want to lose that. Part of the reason she didn’t tell you was she was afraid of how you might react and was afraid of losing your friendship.”
Spike’s face fell as he stared at the ground. “I guess.” He mumbled. Unsure what he should be feeling for Rarity now.
Twilight place her hoof under Spike’s chin and lifted it so that they were eye level. “Listen. Just because Rarity isn’t interested in you that way doesn’t mean no pony is. There are plenty of ponies out there who are just find with interspecies relationships and probably a lot who would love to have a dragon boyfriend. You are a smart, kind, generous, loyal, and brave dragon. And any mare would be lucky to have you as a coltfriend.”
Spike sniffed, and a ghost of a smile tugged at his lips. “You really think so?”
Twilight nodded. “I know so,” A playful smile then formed on her lips. “In fact. I think I heard Rarity say her little sister might have a crush on you.”
Spike’s eyes lit up. “Really!”
Twilight resisted the urge to roll her eyes at how easy the idea of new love allowed him to get over his old. ‘Kids.’ “Now why don’t you run along.”
Spike obayed and began to leave before turning back. “Twilight?”
“Yes Spike.”
“That thing about not being able to love someone who isn’t a pony. Is that why you dumped Flash.”
Twilight shock her head. “No I dumped Flash for other reasons.”
“How come?”
“Distance mainly. We’re from two different worlds and lead completely different lives. I can’t abandon by friends and duty as a princess just to be with him, and he couldn’t abandon his family to be with me. There just wasn’t any real way to be to make it work.” The thought of her break up with Flash caused her mind to once again dwell on what she had had to give up and she felt her heart beginning to sink again. “I don’t want to talk about this anymore.”
“But Twilight I wasn’t done yet,” said Spike.
Twilight shock her head. “I’m sorry Spike I just don’t want to talk about it anymore. Now please leave me alone.” She use her alicorn powers to take out one of books she had been reading while pushing Spike out the door. “I don’t want to explain about my problems anymore, I want to settle them by myself,” she said she shut the door on the small dragon.
Spike stood outside the door debating whether or not to barge in and continue the continue the conversation. In the end decided not to and sighed. “I guess love is the most difficult thing to get over.”

Sunset’s Slumber Party Message
Several Weeks Later
Twilight sat on her hunches in a large plush chair in her personal study room. A thick ancient tome floating in front of her face as she read up on ancient complex spells. reading up on complex about doing harder spells. A light suddenly began pulsing in the corner of her eye and she looked over to see it coming from a book on her wall to wall bookshelf. Knowing what the light ment Twilight placed the tome gently onto the nightstand next to her walked over to the shelf where he pulled out a book she used to communicate with pony human friend Sunset Shimmer.
“Dear Princess Twilight,
Our Twilight is taking Rarity to her boyfriend’s place for the weekend and was wondering if you would like to join. I know you are busy but it has been a long time since we hung out together. Everyone but Rarity is has a boyfriend so we decided we wanted to better get to know the boys we all hang out with and they wanted to do the same so we decided to throw a small party and invite them all. I should also let you know Flash asked me be his girlfriend again. I know things are complicated between us but I wanted to try again now that i have changed. The others don’t know yet but i felt compelled to tell you given what happened between you two. If you join don’t worry about brining a boyfriend but you should bring someone single.

After reading the message Twilight contemplated about hanging out with her counterpart friends. As she did Spike entered into the room with scrolls in his hands.
“Hi Twilight, what are doing?” he asked.
“I was just practicing some harder spells when Sunset sent me a message. She’s throwing a party to bring the all the girls boyfriends together so they can all get to know each other and she invited me.” She finished as she continues back to her spells.
“Cool. Are you going to go?”
Twilight though for a moment and finally shook her head. The thought of being in a party where everyone had a boyfriend made her love problems seem even worse. It would be just like she went to school dances as a filly. She’d be left alone standing against the wall watching everyone else have fun and enjoy themselves with their dates.
Spike put the scrolls down and frowned at Twilight. “Twilight, are you still having this love problem?”
Twilight nodded. “Yes. Look I’m sorry that I yelled at you but I simply don’t want to hang out with a group of boys who all have girlfriends.” She walked back to her chair and resumed her reading. Hoping the conversation was over with.
Spike placed his hand on his face and sighed. Twilight was a hardcore introvert by nature. And one of the hardest things to deal with was how to get her to come out of her shell when she had an emotional problem. “Twilight this whole love thing you are dealing with needs to stop. It’s one thing to feel down about it but now your letting it stop you from having fun.”
Twilight stop reading her spells and looked at Spike as she sighed. “I know you’re right. I’ve been letting this whole love thing get out of hoof. But I can’t help it. I want a boyfriend but even if I had one I’m still a princess.”
Spike crossed his arms.“So? Just because your a princess doesn't mean your should be single for the rest of your life. Flash Sentry isn’t the only guy out there you know.”
“Well where am I supposed to get one.”
Spike raised an eyebrow. “Uh, dating. That’s the whole point of it remember. To find someone you might like and go out with them to see if you want to be boyfriend and girlfriend.”
“It’s not that simple Spike. Like I said I’m a princess. Most ponies now would only want to date me because of that. That was one of the nice things about Flash. He didn’t know I was princess. He just knew me and loved me as Twilight. How am I supposed to find a boyfriend here who likes me for me?”
“Aw come on Twilight. Ii can’t be that hard. I mean you don’t think Shining married Cadence because she was Princess do you?”
Twilight shock her head. “Of course not. My brother would never do something like that.”
“Then there ya go. You can find someone who likes you for being you just like Cadence did.” He ended the conversation by getting the scrolls from the table and walks out the room.
“Spike do you want to come with me?”
“To a party where I’d have to act like a dog the whole time due to humans being there who don’t know I can talk? Pass.” He continues to walk leaving Twilight thinkless.
Once Spike left Twilight thought back on her problem. Spike was right. She couldn’t let her desire for love and fear of not having love control her. And she couldn’t let her status and fears stop her from finding love either. But what was she supposed to do about it? She slammed her head to the table. “How am I supposed to find someone who is my type and doesn’t care I’m a princess? I know that’s the point of dating but I have no clue how to do dating?”
She took her time to think about her decision. Twilight decided her best way to overcome her fears was to force herself. She went over to the bookshelf and pulled out her message book to Sunset.
“Dear Sunset Shimmer,
I read your message and it took me some time to think about it. The truth is I haven’t really moved on from Flash and am still stuck on this love thing and want to find somepony to love but I don’t know and everything is so complicated I was hoping that you should could help me along with the person I’m bringing. When I arrive at the party could you give me some tips on love?
Your Best Friend Princess Twilight Sparkle”
After closing the book she walked out of the castle and flew to Canterlot. Sunset’s message had said to bring a colt who was single, which was far easier said than done in Ponyville. There was only one colt she could think of off the top of her head that meet the bare minimum requirements and she wasn’t sure if bringing him was a good idea.
Thirty Minutes Laters
As Twilight made her way back in her castle she had Star Tracker in tow as they headed for her castle.
“So what do you need me for exactly?” asked Tracker. He was overjoyed to be able to spend time with his idol again but Twilight hadn’t been to forthcoming about why she was with him. Just something about a party with friends.
“I’ve been invited to a party with friends of mine in another dimension and asked to bring a boy with me since everyone else there will also have boys with them?” Tracker smiled awkwardly.
Tracker blinked. The use of the words ‘in another dimension would have made any other stallion look at Twilight like she was crazy. But as Twilight fanatic he had spend hours reacurshing everyone of Twilight’s adventures and the idea only registered as slightly weird to him compared to other things he knew about her. “Sure I mean I’d know what could be better than getting to hang out with you all day at a party.”
Twilight frowned, and decided to set things straight before they left. “We’re not going to be hanging out all day Star Tracker. I’m going to hang out with my friends and also discuss an issue I’m trying to get over.”
“What’s your issue?”
Twilight mentally kicked herself. She hadn’t meant to reveal that aspect of her trip to him. She shook her head. “I don’t want to talk about it. I’m sorry I’m not being nice to you but I’m stressed.”
Tracker shrugged his shoulders. “It’s okay. I learned my lesson last time about giving you more space.”
Twilight shook her head again. “It’s not that. It’s just personal and I don’t feel like talking to many ponies again it. I think we should go now.”
“Sweet!”
The two arrived at the place as Twilight lead Tracker to the room with the mirror portal. As she did she turned to him and began to speak. “I also mention that when we get to the other world we will only have two legs and…. these fingers.”
Tracker absorbed the information before responding. “It’s okay, I don’t think it will that difficult to get used to.”
“Well it was for me.” She smiled, remembering her first time in the human world.
They arrived at the portal and went in. Arriving in the mirror world. True to his word Tracker seemed to take in his new human body relatively well. Though getting used to walking took some time and the two stayed around the high school statue as Twilight waited for Tracker to get the hang of walking.
Once he was able to stand without her holding him they made their way to Sunset’s. All the while Tracker got more used to walking while also examining and getting used to his hands and fingers well.
As they walked Star Tracker did his best to stay at least ten feet behind Twilight. Remembering how she had lashed out at him before for not giving her enough space. Twilight noticed Tracker not next to her and turned around to see him standing a few feet behind her.
Tracker instantly put his hand up in front of his face.“Ahhh! I didn’t do anything!” He said backing up.
Twilight was surprised at Tracker reaction and raised an eyebrow in confusion.“Star Tracker, why are you behind me? I thought I you were lost at first.”
Star Tracker felt embarrassment, which was made worse by being embarrassed in front of Twilight. “Twilight I know you apologized for lashing at me last time but I learned my lessons. I’m going to stay a couple feet away from you.”
Twilight felt guilt wash over her. She had hoped her apology had been enough to make up for her actions on the Zeppelin but it seemed her actions had unintended consequences. “Look. I’m sorry about lashing out at you before Tracker. I do need by space but please don’t think that means you have to act like I’m a bomb that will go off at any second. I’m just a normal pony, understand?” Twilight sighed and mumbled under her breath. “This is exactly what I was talking about earlier.”
Tracker realized he had made Twilight feel bad and felt ashamed of himself. The last thing he wanted was to make Twilight feel bad, but it was so hard to know where the line was with her. “I’m sorry Twilight. I didn’t mean to make you sad. I’ll try to be better.”
Twilight shook her head. Tracker was never going to get it. She didn’t want to be worshiped or revered. She just wanted a normal boyfriend who treated her like a normal pony. “Never mind. Right now we need to hurry, Sunset’s party has started and we don’t want to miss it.” She grabbed his hand so they could walk faster and headed to Sunset’s. Star Tracker couldn’t help but blash at the feel of Twilight holding his hand. He had had a massive crush on Twilight since before the cruise, hence idolizing her, and this act only filled that fire. Ever since idolizing her Star Tracker had wanted to know everything about Twilight and after the cruise and being made an honorary member of Twilight family for a day he had really wanted to know more about what Twilight was like outside of being a Princess. Hopefully this party would be his chance.
Twilight and Star Tracker arrived at Sunset’s house and Twilight rang the doorbell. After a few seconds the door opened and Twilight was greeted by a familiar orange red and yellowed haired human.
Sunset smiled upon seeing her old friend and opened her arms for a hug which Twilight gladly accepted and returned. “It’s so good to see you again Twilight.”
Twilight nodded and she smiled from ear to ear. “Good to see you to.”
Once the two separated Sunset noticed Star Tracker. “Who’s this with you?”
“His name is Star Tracker.” Twilight respond, motioning to purple pony.
Tracker gulped. He had never been the most social pony and was suddenly feeling nervous about the whole party as he awkwardly grinned and waved slightly.
Sunset returned the smile. “Don’t worry we all know he’s not your boyfriend, just relax and have fun,” she said and motioned the two inside.
Once inside Twilight saw all of her friends counterparts already hanging out with their boyfriends. Pinkie Pie was playing video games with Bubble Goo while Flutterhsy and Wiz sat behind them and to the side in a pair of bean bag chairs. Rainbow Dash and Applejack where sitting on the couch with their boyfriends Tim Diver and Pumpkin Sweet as the four chatted and Flash Sentry was sitting on the end couch looking a bit board as he watched Pinkie and Bubble.
“Hey it’s the Princess the Friendship!” Rainbow Dash shouted in happiness as she noticed Sunset and Twilight enter and got up from the couch followed by her friends. Everyone was eager to greet the friend they hadn’t seen since the Friendship games had ended.
“Land sake’s Twilight it’s been a long time since we seen ya.” Applejack said.
“Oh who’s that boy your with?” Pinkie asked.
“This is Star Tracker,” said Twilight, introducing the purple and blonde boy to the group. “I met him when me and my family went on a vacation.”
“He looks pretty cute.” Fluttershy said softly from the back of the group.
Twilight and Tracker both sat down on some bean bag chairs to the left of Fluttershy and Wiz. Putting them in the center behind Pinkie and Bubble and the other six on the couch. Twilight was eager to learn about the boyfriends her friends had chosen. Partly because they were her friends and she wanted to know about their relationships, and partly to hopefully get some actual field advice on how find love for herself, and decided to get right to the point. “I know this is kind of pushy but I want to know how you all have boyfriends.”
“Is this about this love thing your dealing with Sunset told me about?” Flash asked as he’s got off the couch to get a soda. “Actually on second thought I don’t want to know.”
“What about you?” Twilight pointed at Tim. “How did you become Rainbow’s boyfriend?”
Tim was about to open his mouth when Pinkie interrupted. “Oh, I know let’s play games so that Twilight can learn all about our boyfriends and how we got together. Then we can all have fun together.”
Sunset blinked. “That’s actually a really good idea Pinkie. We can have some fun and bond while chat.”
“Ya, and while we’re playing we can teach you all and Tracker all being in a relationship and being in love,” said Bubble.
Twilight and Tracker both blush and Tracker began to stammer, sweat and the notion of being involved with his idol.
Twilight decided to put a stop to things before they went to far. “Bubble Goo. I thought Sunset made it clear Tracker and I are not dating or in a relationship or have any interest in ever being in a relationship together.
Bubble looked down crestfallen. “I know. I just thought you two look cute together.”
Twilight frowned. “Well we aren’t together, and never will be together. And do not look cute together.”
Tracker felt his heart fall into his stomach at Twilight’s words and sank down into his chair. He tried not to let it show but at that moment all he wanted to do was be devowed by the chair and wind up anywhere but where he was.
Sweet noticed the depressed look on Tracker’s face and had a feeling he knew the reason behind it. “Tracker can you come with me for a second?” he said. “I think you need some help with something.”
Tracker said nothing and simply nodded as he followed the boy out of the room.
Sunset also noticed Tracker’s expression but also Twilight’s earlier stammering. Twilight wasn’t the type to stammer unless she was embared or unsure. Something she usually wasn’t if she knew a fact to be 100% true. Meaning it was possible her statement was not the full true. “Twilight can we talk for a second.
“Okay,” replied Twilight in confusion and followed the Sunset to her room.
Sweet lead Tracker to the bathroom where once inside turned around and fixed the boy with a neutral expression as he asked point blank. “Do you have a crush on Twilight?”
Tracker was stunned. How could the boy know about his crush. He quickly began to sweat and stammer. “What? I...you...I….is it that obvious?”
Sweet nodded. “It couldn’t be more obvious if you hung a sign around your neck. So how long have you had a crush?”
Tracker rubbed the back of his neck. Talking about this with a person he barely knew from another dimension seemed one of the weirdest things that had ever happened to him. But her surmised. Applejack was the element of honesty, and Twilight had said these ‘human girl’s’ were counterparts to the elements from back home. And he knew enough to know the element of honesty would not choose a dishonest or deceitful boyfriend. Thus he dreamed this human boy must be trustworthy.
“Ya. I have a crush on her. I’ve had a crush on her since before I met her. Why else would I be so obsessed enough to go on a cruise just to meet her. At the time I thought the most I could ever hope for was the chance to meet her, and maybe get to talk to her, and be around her for a few hours. But after everything that happened on the cruise, and I got to spend time with her and her family. I wondered if maybe I had a chance to get close to her as more than a fan. Maybe, Celestia help me, maybe even be her boyfriend.”
“Well why don’t you try. Be nice to her and show her you care about her and want to get close to her.”
Tracker shook his head. “You heard what she said. We’re never going to be boyfriend and girlfriend. She doesn’t want me as a boyfriend. She probably still hates me after how I acted in on the cruise. I was so clingy and obsessive. I acted like a complete idiot, and stalker. I made her so mad she yelled at me. I’ve been trying to be better but it seems like that just makes things worse.”
Sweet shook his head. “You’re making a mountain out of a molehill. Twilight doesn’t hate you. If she did she wouldn’t have brought you right?”
Tracker nodded.
“So ya messed up. Happens to all of us. You should hear how Rainbow Dash and Tim’s first meeting went. Point is it’s not the end of the world and if she think of you enough to bring you here she must like a little bit. You can still make her your girlfriend so long as you show her how much you care about her. Don’t lose hope.”
Tracker smiled. Sweet was right. Twilight bringing him here had to mean something. Ok, so he had messed up with his standing ten feet behind. He could fix it. He could still get Twilight to love him.
Meanwhile Sunset and Twilight were in Sunset’s room. With Twilight sitting on the bed while Sunset stood in front of her.
So Twilight?” asked Sunset. “Do you like Tracker.”
“What?” asked Twilight in shock. Once again beginning to sweat and become nervous before composing herself. “Of course not. I thought I made it perfectly clear I have no feelings for Tracker at all?”
Sunset raised an eyebrow. “Oh, then why did you bring him and not some other colt?”
“Because I don’t know many other colts. The only ones i know are Big Mac, Mr. Cake, and Shining. All of which are married. Tracker was the only male I could think of who would do what I said and thus I wouldn’t have to worry about bringing here.
Sunset frowned. As always Twilight argument was perfectly logical. “But you do consider him a friend right?”
Twilight frowned before shrugging.”I guess. He’s nice. He’s just, intense. He has a habit of violating my personal space and being well, kind creepy, but he’s not a bad pony. He even tried to defend me from Iron Will.”
Twilight signed and fell back onto the bed as she let her emotions flow freely. “It’s just he’s a fan. And even though I know he likes me for all I know he only likes me because I’m a princess. I don’t have feelings towards him or want to because he’s exactly what I don’t want a boyfriend, a pony who sees me as an idol an idol.” Twilight sighed. “Besides he probably hates me after I yelled at him and what I said downstairs.”
Sunset shook her head. “If he hated you he wouldn’t have come.”
Twilight rolled her eyes. “He’s a fan. I could treat him like dirt and he’d still love me. Not that I would of course.”
Sunset smirked. “As someone who used to treat people like dirt I can tell you even worshipers have their limits. Besides if he is a fan then that means he’s impressed by you. He thinks your awesome. Is that really a bad thing?”
Twilight considered Sunset’s word. The way he fawned over her reminded her of how she fawned over Celestia as a filly. Something she did because she thought the princess was cool and amazing. Meaning she probably didn’t have to worry about him using her for money or social standings. And Rarity always did say there was nothing wrong with letting people fawn over you a bit. “But I don’t want a relationship with someone who sees me as an idol. I want a relationship with someone who sees me as me.”
Sunset shrugged. “Then show him who you are. Talk, get to know him, let him get to know you and see if things work out. Isn’t that what dating is about?”
Twilight chuckled. “Now you sound like Spike.”
And what does that tell you?”
Twilight sighed and got up from the bed and smiled. “That you two are right and I’ve been overthinking things again. “Thanks for the advice Sunset. Star Tracker maybe not my type but like Celestia always told me. It’s better to try and fail than not try at all.”
Sunset smiled. “Your welcome, let’s go back to the living room and play some games.” Twilight got off the bed as she and Sunset went back to the living room.
Moving On For The Better Life
When the two arrived in the living room the eight other people were already set up in a circle in the living room. Each girl sitting next to her boyfriend.
“Pinkie noticed them and waved them over. “Come on you guys. We’re just about to play Pinkie bottle.”
Twilight sat down and raised an eyebrow. “Pinkie bottle?”
Pinkie nodded, and smiled. “Ya. It’s like spin the bottle, only Pinkie Pie style. When a bottle is pointed at the person, the boy picks out a card from the deck.” She pointed to a stack of orange cards sitting next to the bottle. “And he has to do the activity with his girlfriend. You get points of each task you finish and couple with the most points wins.” She pointed at the corner where a pile of what looked like junk sat.
Looking over Twilight noticed plastic targets, plastic bows and arrows, an inflatable kiddie pool, a sac of hollow plastic colored balls, chalk, baking tools, and behind all of it out through the sliding glass door she could see what looked to be a big pink playhouse for girls. “Took me and my boyfriend time to go party shopping,” said Pinkie as she hugged Bubble Goo in excitement, who was next to her.
“I did most of the shopping,” said Goo.
Tracker found the whole thing strange and looked to Twilight who shook her head. Twilight knew better then to question the pink pony in her’s, or any other reality.
For the next fifteen minutes, all the boys but Star Tracker got a turn doing activities with their girlfriends. Twilight payed attention to the couples to see how they interacted, she needed to know what made their relationship work and how she could apply what she saw to her own problems of building a relationship. If her time in ponyville had taught her one thing it was that as great as books where they couldn’t replace real world experience. When the next turn occurred the bottle stopped and points at Star Tracker who picked a card from the deck. When he did he found that the bottom part of the card was read rather then orange like the rest.
Pinkie immediately began clapping and smiling. “Goddie. You got a triple card. That means you have to do three activities.
Tracker looked down at the card, and read the instructions. “First you must find the white cube in the pool of bouncy balls, then you must paint a heart with sparkles on it and finally girlfriend must throw darts at a target while her eyes are covered by her boyfriend and vice versa.”
“That last one might be pretty difficult Pinkie because I don’t think Tracker has figured out how to full coordination of his body yet,” Twilight said.
Rainbow Dash smiled. “Sweet. That means I’m gonna win.”
“You,” replied Applejack. “In case y’all forgot we’re tied.”
Flash put his hand on Twilight’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, I’m sure you both will do alright.”
Twilight blushed. Despite there relationship have ended she still felt attracted to him and how kind and supportive he was.
Tracker noticed the interaction and his eyes fell. Twilight had mentioned Flash was her ex. A fact that shocked and bruised his heart, and made him rethink if he was the kind of stallion who even had a chance with her. Seeing Twilight blush at his touch burned even more at it made him realize he likey wasn’t the type of stallion Twilight was interested in, and that her declaration they would only ever be friends was the truth.
The group walked outside as Pinkie brought the inflatable pool and Goo brought the sack of balls. Which a single deep breath Pinkie inflated the pool that was nearly six feet wide and almost three feet deep. Goo threw in an odd somewhat small white cube and then dumped ball into the poll until it was full.
Tracker’s jaw dropped at the display. “How did she…”
Twilight put a hand on his shoulder. “Tracker. If there is one thing I have learned is that Pinkie is the most uncertain thing in this or any other universe.”
Tracker felt like he should he refute that idea but stopped. Twilight was said to be the smartest pony in Equestria. Arguing with her would be stupid.
The two both got into the pool of balls and began. Walking around with their hands digging through the balls that came up to their waist. While Twilight would pick up and throw balls Tracker began walking around trying to feel the cube’s corners. After almost fifteen minutes Twilight began to grow frustrated. “This is impossible. There are too many balls.”
“Sorry Twilight,” said Pinkie. “I guess I made the white cube a bit to small.”
As Tracker searched he wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings and bumped into Twilight’s back, causing her to stumble.
“Be Careful Tracker.” Twilight responded.
Tracker immediately backed up and chastised himself. Realizing he had made another error. “I’m very sorry Princess, I didn’t mean it.”
Twilight sighed. She wished Tracker didn’t react so harshly to her criticism. Tracker made it feel like he was scared of her. “We need a way thin these balls out,” said Twilight.
“Try dunking your head into the balls silly,” said Pinkie. Then demonstrated by walking over and bending down forward until her head was in the balls, then immediately pulling her head out with a bright red ball in her mouth.
“Why would we do that?” question Twilight.
Pinkie spit the ball out. “So it can look like your diving underwater and be more fun. I would have used a real pool, but the white cube would have melted, and filling up a pool takes forever.”
Twilight rubbed her forehead. Pinkie’s suggestion was unfortunately flawed. Diving under wouldn’t make spotting the cube easier like in real pool, and would likely be harder to wade through.
She looked over at Tracker and saw him throwing balls out of the pool. “What are you doing?”
“Making it so there are less balls to search through,” he said, and continued to throw.
“I don’t think we’re supposed to do it that way,” replied Twilight.
Tracker shrugged. “No rule that says we can’t.”
Twilight blinked and looked to Pinkie who simply shrugged; having never thought about that loophole.
Twilight looked back to Tracker who was still throwing balls, and her face widened into a grin. Tracker’s idea was brilliant. By removing the balls they could systematically remove the obstacle impeding their progress. The law of averages dictated that sooner or later they had to find the ball. It was not only smart, but logical. Twilight immediately began throwing out balls along with Tracker.
After throwing out roughly half the balls Tracker finally found the small white cube. “Got it!” he shouted. Twilight rushed over and took the cube from him. Her hand touching his as he did. Something that made Tracker blush.
Twilight immediately realized the cube was actually a piece of paper folded down into a cube. She took off the tabe holding it in shape, and unfolded it to see the paper was black.
“Now you each have to paint half a heart on the paper, and fill it with with decorations of love. No matter how hard it is.” said Pinkie.
Twilight nodded. She took Tracker’s hand, and lead him out of the pool, and to a bench sitting on the porch near the back door that already had paint supplies laid out.
“Umm...Twilight. You’re still holding my hand,” said Tracker blushing. Lifting their joined hands.
Twilight blushed and immediately pulled her hand away. She inwardly wonder why she had done that but told herself she was simply so focused on the game she didn’t notice.
Tracker felt a bit saddened. It was so hard to get a beat on if Twilight was open to the idea of them being more than friends or not. He didn’t want to confess to her, be shot down and never get to see her again. “So, how do we paint without magic?” he asked.
“We use these,” said Twilight, holding up her hand and wiggling her fingers. She picked up a paint brush in her hand but found it a bit awkward. Last time she had gotten good enough to use a fork but it had been a while since she had been in the human world.
Tracker tried picking up the brush, but found his fingers wouldn’t comply. He had only tested them enough to get the hang of grabbing objects. Not wanting to disappoint Twilight he grabbed the brush, and put the end in his mouth. As he had been taught to do as a colt before learning to use magic.
Tracker dipped the brush in the paint. He had a hard time drawing the curve for the heart but managed to make a lopsided curve that at least resembled a heart.
Twilight faired a little better. She was able to draw the curve well enough but it was tougher then she had expected it to be. Apparently her time away had eroded her hand eye coordination when it came to human hands.
Tracker however was beyond frustrated at his inability to even draw a straight line, and finally spit out his brush. “This is impossible. I can’t draw anything but scribbles.”
Twilight felt a bit bad for Tracker. She remembered how hard it was to get the hang of using her hands the first time she was here. A skill she still hadn’t fully mastered.
She put down her brush, reached over, picked up Tracker’s brush, and put it in his hands. Fiddling with his fingers as she manually adjusted them to the proper positions.
Tracker’s face turned beat red, and his heart rate began to speed up as Twilight interlaced her hands with his as she positioned his fingers.
After a good two minutes Twilight finally got Tracker’s fingers appropriately positioned, and and picked up her brush again. “Now just follow my movements,” she said began painting.
Tracker gulped and nodded as he tried to get his blush under control. He kept his eyes focused on Twilight as he carefully mimicked Twilight’s hand movements. Twilight looked over and was surprised how well Tracker had done at copying the additional heart lines she had drawn to make it a multilayered heart.
“Wow. That’s pretty good Tracker. You learn fast.” Twilight replied.
Tracker smiled, and rubbed the back of his head. “Thanks. Following pony movements is something I’ve always been good at… Um not that I fallow ponies that is, I mean I do since it’s my cutie mark, but not like follow them like stalk them or anything, I just...umm...I’m just gonna shut up now.”
Twilight chucked at Tracker’s embracement, and the cute look on his face. ‘Did I just think he looked cute.’ Twilight shock her head, and went back to her work.
“So what kind of designed do you think we should add?” asked Twilight.
Tracker shrugged. “It doesn’t matter to me. You can pick the designs you want. I don’t mind.”
Twilight smiled. “Thanks Tracker. Sometimes I don’t get to make a lot of my own choices anymore.”
Tracker raised an eyebrow at that statement. “But your a princess. You get to make the rules.”
Twilight shrugged. “You’d think so. But being a princess doesn’t mean absolute power the way most think. It’s my responsibility to do what’s best for everypony. And a lot of times what’s best for everypony isn’t what’s best for me. I could just change a rule I don’t like but that wouldn’t be fair to all the ponies the rule helps. Rules were put in place to help ponies. And as Princess it’s my job to enforce the rules that work and change the ones that don’t.”
Tracker thought on what Twilight said. He had never really thought about what being a princess meant. He knew it meant power and fame, and prestige, but he never thought about the work that went into it. His job was to follow and report on celebrities, not understand politics.
“Not to mention my image. That’s the worst. People judge me on everything I do any little thing could have big problem. I can’t even go out and eat a hayburger without the company trying to use it as publicity and make me some kind of weird mascot.”
“Umm...well at least it was a restaurant you liked, right?” said Tracker. Not sure what to say to Twilight’s story.
Twilight rolled her eyes. “Ya, at least that.” Twilight rolled her eyes. “Ya, at least that.”
The two finished their picture and held it up for the others to see.
“Wow that looks amazing,” said Wiz giving his opinion.
“Yeah I love the shining colors.” Fluttershy commented.
“Ya, this is pretty awesome for people who are ponies from a different world,” said Rainbow said.
“Thanks. It was nothing really.” Tracker replied.
“But you still have one more obstacle.” Pinkie reminded as she took the heart and taped it to the back fence. She then rushed back, and handed three arrows to Twilight and Star Tracker. “Make sure that you block your partners his or her eyes at all times. You get a extra point for each bullseye. I know this is difficult but try you best.”
Princess Twilight looks at Star Tracker in a serious look. “Okay listen carefully. I never did this before with my hands so I want you to go first because I’m not prepared to do this.”
Tracker nodded. “Okay but I don’t think you should be overreacted to this. We’re only going to throw our arrows to at a target. We’re not going to hurt anyone.”
“It’s not that I’m not good at aiming. It’s just I can’t look straight at the target because we never use are hoofs to throw at home.” She starts to feel nervous but Tracker calms her down.
Tracker shrugged. “Relax, I’m sure I’ll have the same problems since I know even less about how to use hands.”
Twilight nodded. Considering Tracker was also a unicorn and had little experience using his hands he's likely be lucky to even hit the paper. The two walked forward toward the paper, and stopped behind a yellow strip of tape ten feet away. Twilight got behind Tracker and placed her hands over his eyes.
Tracker held the arrow up and gripped it fully in his grasp like it was a spear. He tried to concentrate on throwing the arrow but it was hard with the knowledge Twilight’s hand were touching him.
“I’ll give you a hint, it’s right in front of your face.” Applejack said.
“Thanks for the help but our aiming is still a problem.” Tracker said.
Deciding to help Applejack walked up to Tracker, and re-positioned his fingers and hand into a throwing motion. “Now when your arm is going down let go right about here,” she said lowering Tracker’s arm to the right position.” She finished demonstrating and went back to stand with the others.
“Okay, we can do this.” Tracker said to himself. He threw his first arrow which hit the fence just a few inches under the paper. “A little higher,” said Twilight. Tracker nodded and tried to correct his aim, hitting a above the target, but managing to actually hit within the paper. “Lower and a little to the left,” said Twilight. Twilight let go of him while he saw his targets.
“Wow! I did better than I thought?”
“I guess.” Twilight said. Though she wasn’t as competitive as Rainbow Dash, she still had an need to achieve perfection in any task she attempted. And that included sports. Trying not to be upset, and understanding this was Traker’s first time trying she took her place in front of him as he put his hands over her eyes. “Okay I can handle this, just need to stay calm.” However Twilight didn’t throw any of her arrows, she stood still while her partner feels concerned.
“Twilight… I think you can throw now.” Tracker replied but Twilight refused. She found it far too hard to concentrate with Tracker behind her. His body close to hers and his hands around her face. It brought force images of all the romance books she had been binging where the colt would sneak up on the girl and wrap them in a loving hug. She was in a similar position now but it felt all wrong. She felt his body against hers like the mare’s in her books but knew there was no love along with it, and it made the feeling seem wrong.
“NO! I can’t do it!” She let go of the arrows and took Trackers hands off of her. She ran back into the house as everyone was left shocked by her actions.
“I’ll go see what’s wrong,” said Sunset, following after the Princess.
Tracker was simply left standing dumbstruck and numb. He had a crush on had bolted the second he put his hands on her. Was Twilight so disgusted by him just touching her made her revolt? But she had touched him twice before and didn’t seem to mind. “What did I do wrong?”
Sunset found Twilight at the kitchen table with her hand holding her head. She pulled back a seat and sat next to the purple haired human. “What’s going on Twilight?” asked Sunset, putting a hand on Twilight’s shoulder.
Twilight sighed and looked at her friend. “I don’t know. It’s just having Tracker so close to me I felt weird. Like lovey dovey weird.”
Sunset raised an eyebrow. “Isn’t that good. That’s why you came here. To learn about love and finding a boyfriend. Sounds like you already found one.”
Twilight shook her head. “But it feels wrong. I barely know Tracker and yet my body is reacting to him. He’s barely my friend and I’m wanting him to hug and hold me. That’s not how it’s supposed to work. That’s not how it worked in any of my books.”
Sunset groaned and rubbed her temples. “Twilight we had a conversation about this. The whole point of this is so you can get to know him and see how you feel about him.”
“But the books all said…”
“Twilight no book in the world is a definitive guide for love. Everyone falls in love differently. When you fell for Flash did you fall for his body first or his personality?”
Twilight blushed and remembered how her heart had skipped a beat the first sight of Flash. “His body,” she mumbled.
“Then there you go. Your body know what it wants. You just have to figure out if the rest of him is something you want as well. You don’t have to force yourself to love him, if you like him the way he is that’s great, don’t get too caught up with this love thing.” Sunset smirked. “And even if love with Tracker never comes you could always try for a friend with benefits relationship.”
Twilight’s face immediately turned bright red. “Sunset!”
Sunset laughed at her friends embracement. “Just kidding. Just do what comes natural and take it one step at a time. Don’t try to force things if they don’t work.”
Twilight nodded and the two went back outside where everyone was still waiting, and she walked up to Star Tracker.
“Sorry I left, I’m guess I was just nervous.” She walked up to Tracker.
“It’s fine. Like you said in your book even princesses go through tough situations.”
“You mean my friendship journal?” questioned Twilight.
Tracker nodded. “Of course. I bought it and read it over and over.”
Twilight wasn’t sure what to say. It was nice to know Tracker enjoyed reading at least. And nice to know he cared so much about reading what she had to say. But his actions still sounded like that of a fan body with an idealistic view of her then somepony who really understood her. “I think we should get back to your turn now.”
Tracker nodded and handed her the arrows she dropped as they get back in position. Tracker’s hands block Twilight’s eyes again and Twilight prepares to throw her arrows.
Once again she felt her heart flutter slightly at being so close to a male and in a position that could be seen as intimate, but she pushed that feeling down deep, and snuffed it out. Her first throw was not that good. Hitting the lower right of the paper. Tracker and the others felt disappointed at first. “Aim five degrees up and three degrees to the left.” Twilight blinked. She hadn't expected his instruction to be to mathematical. She threw her second arrow and luckily it hit halfway between the middle bullseye, and the outside of the heart.
“Okay I think I should stop.” Twilight said quickly after she did her second attempt but Tracker stopped her.
“You have one more arrow left, keep it calm and relax and aim two more degrees left.” Tracker said kindly.
“Okay I’ll try.” She lifted her hand with the arrow and took five seconds to take a deep breath. Finally, she threw her last arrow and everyone went silent. Twilight heard no sound until Tracker took his hands off her eyes which were shut tight. She didn’t want to see her failure but soon everyone cheered, surprising Twilight.
“You did it Twilight!” Star Tracker cheered. Twilight looked at the target and saw her final arrow had been a bullseye.
“I got a bullseye?” She blinked her eyes.
“You sure did!” Sunset replied. Twilight was so excited she hugged Star Tracker tightly.
“Thank you Tracker, you really help me there.” Star Tracker was blushing like crazy, unlike the hug he got from Twilight back at the cruise, this one lasted for one minute. He didn’t say a word while Twilight still hugging him and to make things difficult for him, everyone is adoring this which makes Twilight break the hug when she noticed.
“Aww that is so cute.” Fluttershy said.
“I knew you were are perfect together.” Bubble Goo commented.
“We’re not!” Tracker shouted in embarrassment. Twilight looked at Tracker in a cute look which makes Tracker blush harder. “Uh...I need to go to the bathroom,” proclaimed Tracker and rushed off.
Twilight giggled. “You know. He’s cute when he’s trying to hide his crush.” Twilight turning to Pumpkin.
“Wait so you know that Star Tracker has a crush on you?” asked Pumpkin.
Twilight rolled her eyes. “Of course. Tracker is more obvious about his feelings then Fluttershy. How could I not know.”
“But didn’t you only bring him because you wanted to hang out with us?” asked Rainbow.
Twilight nodded again. “Yes, but I’m getting to know him more and I think I’m starting to like him more than I thought.”
Sunset thought for a second. “I think this calls for a chance of plans. We should head to my room and discuss what to do next.”
“What about Star Tracker?” asked Twilight.
“We’ll tell him to wait in the living room.” Rainbow said.
The group headed inside and as they did Rainbow shouted in the direction of the bathroom. “Star Tracker! Twilight and us are having a conversation in Sunset’s room. You wait in the living room?”
“Why can’t I be in the conversation?” He responded.
“Because it’s very personal.”
“Okay.”
Everyone went upstairs while Star Tracker got out of the bathroom and waited in the living room.
Moving On For The Better Life
Twilight stood stunned, staring at her friends spread around the room as though they had recently revealed they were aliens. “You want me to what!”
“We think you should have sex with Tracker,” repeated Sunset.
Despite the phrase being repeated; Twilight was still unable to grasp the reality of it. She looked around the room. Hoping it was only Sunset who had lost her mind, but found everyone else worse either a neutral or happy expression.
“Come on Twi,” said Sunset. “It’s obvious you like the guy.”
“That doesn’t mean I want to have sex with him!” shouted Sunset. It simply didn’t make sense. How could her friends be so casual about the idea of having sex? They were acting like it was no more intimate then holding hands. This wasn’t that open about sex right? It certainly didn’t seem like it based on the small amount of research she had done. And previous conversations with Sunset.
Rainbow shrugged. “Why not? We’re all had sex with our boyfriends?”
Twilight blinked. “Wait, what!” She looked around the room at the others. Some like Fluttershy blushed and tried not to make eye contact, while others like Pinkie simply smiled or shrugged.
“You’ve all had sex with your boyfriends?” Twilight couldn’t believe it. She could understand Rainbow and Applejack, and maybe even Pinkie, but Fluttershy? That just seemed too out there.
Sunset lightly shrugged. “Trust me. I was just as shocked as you to find out. When we were meeting to disguise the slumber party we started talking about our boyfriends and one thing lead to another and we realized we had all had sex them.”
Twilight put her palm to to her facehead. “This is so unreal. I mean it’s nice that you all have boyfriends but what made you decided to have sex with them so early in your relationships?”
Rainbow smirked. “You’re kidding. I only got a boyfriend because Tim Diver is so hot. No way I wasn’t going to take matters into my hands.”
“We went through a different place since most of us like Rainbow Dash and Applejack went on their vacation on Spring Break. Fluttershy got her boyfriend when Wiz was helping her life, before you came to our world and Pinkie Pie got her boyfriend because she wanted to apologize him.” Flash said.
Pinkie blushed and looked down at the ground. “I wasn’t really sure what to do for Valentines Day and things kind of got out of hand.”
Twilight thought. Their stories seemed in line with what she expected of her friends. She was at least glad they all, Rainbow Dash excluded, hadn’t just decided on sex out of impulse. Never one for fact; she simply asked the question at the forefront of her her mind. So... how was it?”
“Obviously the time of our lives.” Bubble Goo commented. “Pinkie used Chocolate frosting on me, it felt like magic on Valentines Day to me.”
“When Fluttershy let me stay at her place during Christmas vacation, we had sex with me so many times I lost track,” said Wiz.
Twilight and the others all looked at Fluttershy awkwardly. It was hard to believe the normally shy and diminutive girl would get so into having sex.
Fluttershy's face turned as red as Big Mac’s and she tried to hide her face behind her hair as she defended herself. “I was out of control when I was only with him. He was the only boy I had ever really loved before you came here Twilight.”
Twilight blinked. “Did you two break up or something?”
Wiz nodded. “After Fluttershy got back together with her friends I felt like I wasn’t needed and decided to be on my own. I was sad for a while. I wanted to move on from what I saw as a disaster and swore to never have a girlfriend again.”
“So why are you together again?” asked Twilight.
“There was an incident at Christmas and me and Fluttershy ended up having sex. After we admitted to each other that we still loved each other and wanted to be together and worked through our problems.”
Fluttershy then scooted over to Wiz and hugged him tightly as tears formed in her eyes. “I’m sorry Wiz! I know we had to talk so many times about it but your the best thing that ever happen to me.”
Wiz returned the hug as he patted Fluttershy’s back to keep her calm. “It’s ok. I’m not mad at you. I’m more mad at myself that you had to have sex with me just for me to come around. We could’ve done something else like what we did in Spring Break.”
“See Twilight,” said Sunset. “Sex isn’t just about being physical with each other. It can help strengthen emotional bonds as well and even mend broken relationships.”
Twilight sighed. “That doesn’t mean it’s going to work for me and Tracker.”
“It might,” replied Sunset. “If there is one thing I’ve learned from hanging out with your counterpart it’s that you are way to logical for your own good and over analyze everything. You keep coming at this from a logical point and seeing everything that could go wrong instead of letting your emotions lead you. Maybe if you have sex with him it will stop satisfy your labido and you can think clearly and come to a decision. And don’t you dare tell me you don’t want to have sex after how you said you’ve been acting in your world.”
Twilight said nothing as she considered Sunset’s word. She certainly couldn’t deny Sunset’s last statement. Her body and heart were both desperate for love. The fact that her heart had been racing just by having him stand behind her was proof of that. Maybe satisfying her body’s needs would let her think clearer and finally come to a decision on weather being with Tracker was a good idea.
“But what if it doesn’t work out and he tells other ponies about it?” It would be the scandal of the century in Equestria. “Princess has one night stand with fan pony.”
Sunset waived her hand. “Relax Twilight. You said before he basically worships you. If you tell him to keep it a secret even torture wouldn’t get him to spill. Take it from someone who’s used to having worshipers.”
Flash then joined the conversation. “Besides. It’s not like anyone would believe him. I mean I know Equestria has magic but I think people would still find a pony saying ‘The Princess invited me to a party in some weird mirror world dimension and then had sex with me.’ just a little far fetched.”
