Fate is something that, how do I put it, something that's predetermined to happen by a higher power. At least that's how it was explained to me by my owner, Boss Mare, she treats us all as equal and isn't as demeaning as most of the ponies in Canterlot. She's the nicest pony I've interacted with in my five years of living in this new world, humans discovered Equestria in the year 2020, the current year is 2028 and the war is long over.

To give you some perspective; I am a human living in a land full of ponies who have enslaved my kind after The Great War. My kind tried to annex the ponies of this land after discovering it, and, it didn't really go as planned due to political clashes within my race and disagreements of how the power would be split and who would own what; long story short we lost and the ponies of Equestria enslaved us; I guess you could say the chickens have come home to roost.

My owner is also the owner of a retail store similar to Walmart or Staples, we work for her in said store and as payment, she provides us housing and food. As I've said before she is kinder than most ponies to us, the only days that suck are when we have a royal check-up, similar to a corporate check except it's one or two of the princesses (only twice in the 4 years I've worked here we've had all four walk through at the same time) instead of a corporate entity snooping around and making sure everything is running smoothly; 90% of our staff is human after all.

Regulations state that all humans are to where ankle cuffs while working to prevent any sort of security breach, the chain is only half a meter and the cuffs are electrically locked similar to an ankle tracker, and yes they can pinpoint our location using tracking software. After The Great War the ponies took with them our technology and made it even more advanced than we once had it, Magic does play a big role in this advancement with Magic barriers maintained an electrically powered source so a single unicorn or multiple don't have to strain themselves maintaining a security barrier to keep us human from running off.

Our boss does have loose regulations; our chains are a little longer so we can walk better, the cuffs not as tight to prevent ankle injury, we're allotted breaks to smoke and eat (yes, she does pay us a small number of bits, under the table of course). The only thing she kept the same was the barrier, we can't leave work, we work 10 hours a day 7 days a week and once the day is over we go to our housing which is connected to the store and is a short walk. We sell most products you'd expect at a Walmart, I work in the electronics department and I'm not gonna lie, these ponies are really up to date with their knowledge of electronics. Most don't ask me anything because of the fact that I'm human, but every once and awhile I'll come across a kind pony who doesn't care about my race and doesn't mind interacting with humans.

Other ponies aren't as kind however, most either ignore us or scoff at us, every once and awhile I'll get talked down to by a pony who think they're above me and think they own me, but most of the time my boss is able to clear the air and helps us both out. I do get a lot of nasty glares from most ponies, no surprise there; most mothers will also hide their foals from my co-workers and myself trying to be very protective of them. The foals are too young to understand, they only stare at us blankly, eyes full of question.

One very, depressing thing I guess you could say, about this transition is what happened to our military, political leaders, and anyone who works for the government. After we surrendered the Equestrian forces separated the civilians from the others (as I said before Military, political leaders, etc.) and, put them down. We lost most of our military during the war, the rest were executed to prevent any resistance from rising up, our political leaders were sentenced to death due to their roles in the great war, and the rest of the government officials are being kept in concentration style camps in the cold north; from what I've heard most have perished already.

Most humans only have individual owners and never really interact with one another, the nearest group of humans who work in a similar fashion to us is the castle; group style work but from what I've heard the regulations are up to par and very strict. We have transfers with them every once and awhile, a few workers from here go there and vice versa. I have heard a few stories from my co-workers after a transfer from the castle, from what they say the regulations are super strict; good thing I've never been put on transfer.

We work from eight in the morning until six in the evening, the store opens at nine and closes at five, giving us an hour to open and close the store each day. When not working we are confined to our rooms, sort of a cell but more comfortable; I have a bed, desk, some books to read, and paper to write my thoughts down on. Like I said, we have a few more freedoms than most humans do, Boss Mare was against the idea of slavery before the war and is still against it so she wants us to feel as free as she can.

The following events are what lead up to the eventual freedom of my kind and peace between the ponies and humans in Equestria, not all is as it seems from an outside perspective. Never judge a book by its cover, and never judge a country by it's presumed leaders.
