Making Friends With Somepony New

One bright day Twilight was inside her castle as she was trying to clean the map table room with Spike. As they were working Starlight Glimmer entered the room and went up to Spike. Spike and Twilight stopped working and turned around.

"Oh hey Starlight. I didn't know you were coming over...Me and Spike are working together on the castle. What do you need?" Twilight asked. Starlight stopped and smiled.

"Just wanted to see how you were doing. I know I'm doing pretty well." Starlight said. Twilight walked up to her with a smile.

"That's good. What have you been up to? See any of our friends?" Twilight asked. Starlight nodded enthusiastically.

"Yes and I also made a new friend today as well. The pony was a mare and she looked a bit new in Ponyville as I have never seen her before. I spoke to her and made friends with her. She's pretty nice." Starlight exclaimed. Twilight smiled even more.

"Great! That's exactly what I like to hear? Who's your new friend? Can I meet them? Twilight asked. Starlight was so glad that Twilight wanted to know and spoke to Twilight about her new friend.

"Her name is Evelyn and she's the nicest pony you will ever meet." Starlight said. Twilight's smile faded which concerned Starlight and Twilight spoke.

"Did you just say her name....was Evelyn? Where in Equestria did you meet her?!" Twilight asked with a suspicious look on her face. Starlight looked at her with an unsure facial expression and spoke.

"In Ponyville....she looked new and seemed nice so I befriended her....is that okay?" Starlight asked. Twilight's concerned expression turned into an angry expression.

"Don't ever talk to her again! Do you understand? Stay away from her!" Twilight spoke sharply. Starlight was shocked when she heard Twilight say this. This wasn't like Twilight at all as Twilight said that friendships should be made between everypony.

"Twilight....that's unlike you....I thought you wanted me to make friends? You of all ponies should know that. You taught me that. To say something that is contrary to that belief is weird." Starlight said.

"I also taught you to be on your guard in the face of danger. Stay away from her Starlight! Do you understand!?" Twilight said as she raised her voice. Starlight backed up in fright as she thought of the possibility that Twilight might be in a bad mood.

"What's so dangerous about her? Your not making any sense Twilight! This isn't like you at all!" Starlight said as she was scared from Twilight's reaction as Twilight's advice goes against her philosophy of making friends with everypony and looking past their flaws.

"Just stay away from her! If I find out that you were talking to that awful pony I will try and stop you from seeing her! Understand!?" Twilight yelled. Starlight shook her head rapidly as her legs shook.

"Alright I will I'm sorry!" Starlight apologized. Twilight walked out of the map room leaving Starlight there. Starlight was so confused. She couldn't understand what was so bad about Evelyn as she seemed like a nice decent pony. Twilight made it seem like Evelyn was a villain or something.

Starlight decided to listen to Twilight as she didn't want to get into trouble but at the same time however she wanted to ask Twilight what she had against this pony that Starlight hadn't met until today.

What didnt make sense was the fact that Evelyn looked like she was a newcomer to Ponyville as Starlight hadn't seen Evelyn in Ponyville before until now. She wondered Evelyn was a former convict because if she was then that would explain why Twilight was so upset about Evelyn.

Starlight decided to stay away from Evelyn so that she didn't cause trouble. Twilight came out into the throne room later as she had calmed down from her earlier outburst. She treated Starlight like normal as they talked to eachother and hung out with Twilight's other friends.

Soon that day went by fast and after Starlight and her friends slept it was early morning so Starlight decided to go and exercise and maybe buy a few things. As she exercised she saw that Evelyn was sitting by a lake all by herself. Starlight was tempted to go over and see her but knew that if she did she would make Twilight angry and she didn't want to do that.

Starlight looked at Evelyn a bit more however and decided to go over and see the pony as she wondered why Evelyn looked so sad. When she got there Evelyn turned around and spoke to her.

"Thanks for seeing me again Starlight! Not a lot of ponies see me. I wish more ponies would see me but they don't. Can I ask you something Starlight? Why did you come see me again? Can we be friends?" Evelyn asked.

"Of coarse we can Evelyn. I was thinking about you a lot today. Are you feeling alright? It looks like you need somepony to unload your problems to!" Starlight said. Evelyn nodded and spoke.

"I do. Will you promise to help me make more friends?" Evelyn asked. Starlight nodded.

"Of coarse! That's what a friend does!" Starlight said. They both hugged eachother but after they hugged Twilight saw them and walked over to them with anger.

"Starlight Glimmer! What are you doing!?" Twilight asked as she was enraged by the sight of Evelyn and Starlight talking to eachother.

"I just thought that Evelyn needed a friend! She looked so lonely! She doesn't look bad to me! I didn't think you would be so adamant against your own beliefs!" Starlight exclaimed.

"Didn't I tell you to stay away from her!? You disobeyed me Starlight! Aren't I your teacher!? You never disobey me! Get away from her now!" Twilight yelled.

"But why though!? What's so bad about her? She doesn't seem like a villain or anything. If she is a changeling then that wouldn't be so bad as we are friends with the changelings!" Starlight said. Twilight lit up her horn and got into attack stance.

"She will be a terrible friend to you! Not everypony deserves friendship! Only ones who you can trust should be your friends! Now get away! This is your final chance!" Twilight yelled. Starlight couldn't understand Twilight's reasoning as it didn't make any sense to her. She wondered why Twilight was so much against her making friends with Evelyn.

"She might be evil! She probably is changeling! Don't worry I have created a spell to reveal changelings now! She won't be in disguise for long!" Twilight yelled. Twilight then cast the spell and the spell revealed that Evelyn was just a pony. Twilight still glared at her though.

"See she's just a pony Twilight. Now calm down and tell me why your against me making friends with her." Starlight said.

"It doesn't matter! I still don't trust her! We have no idea where she came from and we don't know her motives! She might be trying to gain access to you so she can destroy the elements of harmony and enslave my friends!" Twilight accused. Evelyn started to cry.

"I don't want to do that! I just want a friend okay! I thought you would be all for that! But I guess you just betrayed your values! If you don't want me making friends then I'll leave! So much for the princess of friendship!" Evelyn said as she sobbed while tears fell down her cheeks. She ran away from Starlight and Twilight. Starlight glared at Twilight.

"Twilight what's wrong with you!? Why are you being so mean!?" Starlight yelled.

"Because I'm the princess of friendship and I know everything! Evelyn was trying to lure you in only to potentially stab you in the back later! Only make friends with ponies that aren't backstabbers!" Twilight screamed. Starlight was utterly shocked and concerned with Twilight. What Twilight was saying was completely unlike her.

"Twilight! That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. You can't pick and choose who should be friends with who. That's not like you! Your the princess of friendship! I thought you would be happy for me that I made friends with Evelyn not try and prevent us from being friends! She doesn't seem to be a Backstabber! What in Equestria is the matter with you!?" Starlight yelled.

"I would be happy if you made friends with anypony you learned about first and not to make a spontaneous decision to make friends with somepony that you shouldn't trust! Learn more about Evelyn before you make friends with her. Their have been ponies like her who've turned into criminals and villains Starlight! She might have a plan for domination of Equestria!" Twilight yelled.

"But that doesn't make any sense! If your reasoning is true then that means that I have already broken your rule because I made friends with Trixie and a lot of other ponies. Even with Trixie you were hostile about and yet I convinced your otherwise. We've been through this Twilight!" Starlight yelled.

"Well you shouldn't have. You should break off your friendship with Trixie!" Twilight yelled. Starlight gave her a shocked look but returned to a relaxed look and stood her ground.

"No Twilight I won't do that. I'm going to keep my friendship with Trixie going and make friends with Evelyn whether you like it or not. I don't need your approval and I certainly don't need your permission." Starlight ranted. Twilight stood there in silence for a few moments as Starlight feared that Twilight would do something bad to her but she didn't as alls she did was respond in an angry voice.

"Fine! Go ahead and make friends with the mare! I hope you know what your getting into! Watch your back as you don't know what she's capable of doing and when I turn out to be right about her don't come crying to me as I will tell you that I told you so!" Twilight ranted. Twilight went back home with an angry attitude and Starlight went to find Evelyn and once she found her she spoke.

"Well we can be friends...Twilight isn't happy about it but at least I get to hang out with you and stuff." Starlight said. Evelyn hugged her.

"I'm so happy! Thanks Starlight!" Evelyn said with a smile on her face. At that moment their friendship had officially begun. They were both happy that they could be friends. Twilight saw the error of her ways and even apologized to Starlight and Evelyn and Starlight and Evelyn forgave her. Twilight also apologized to Starlight for suggesting that Starlight end her friendship with Trixie and Starlight forgave her. Twilight was nice to Evelyn from then on and never complained about Evelyn ever again.
