Let us in
Let us in.
Load Full StoryI looked outside my front window, eyes quickly darting to every shadow of my yard in the pitch darkness of the night. I jumped and clutched my shotgun tightly in my hands and quickly aimed it at the movement to my right. I gave a sigh when all I saw was a rabbit running across the gravel driveway of my cabin.
"Relax," I muttered to myself. However, I couldn't relax, not with my thoughts clearly on the events that happened last night. I gave a gulp at the memory of those kids... those things.
I stole a glance at my repaired door that was held shut by several planks of plywood. I felt a shiver run down my back at the dozens of broken windows around my house and what little glass I wasn't able to clean up.
I gently closed my eyes, but gritted my teeth as the mentle image of those three girls flashed in my mind, causing me to quickly open my eyes and look around.
To say what I saw last night was unexplainable would be the biggest fucking understatement. What I saw wasn't right.

"Oh c-mon!" I yelled at the TV as the football player ran ahead and had made a touchdown for the opposing team. I threw my hands up in exasperation and grabbed my beer from the coffee table in front of me. After taking a quick swig and letting a belch escape my mouth, I looked at the clock, seeing that it was well past midnight and I needed to head in early for work tomorrow.
I gave a sigh as I grabbed the remote next to me and flipped the TV off. Looking around my living room, I shrugged at the single half finished pizza box and the three beer cans on the floor. I grabbed the four objects and placed them in my kitchen. Satisfied with my slightly clean room, I walked over to the light switch and was about to turn it off.
*knock, knock*
I frowned as I turned to face my front door.
“Who would be all the way out here at this time of night?‘ I thought. Walking over to my door, I couldn't help but take note on how the lights in my living room began flickering, and the sudden cold air that was coming from my front door.
I slowly felt my stomach sink and my heart rate slowly quicken with each step to the door I took. Once my hand gripped the handle, I hesitated from the nervousness running through my body. It didn't make sense, why was I so nervous of opening a stupid door?
Shaking my head, I twisted the knob and opened the door. The first thing I saw was a large dense fog that covered the entire front of my property. Then, I saw three little girls standing on my porch, staring up at me with sad frowns on their faces.
"Um... can I help you?" I asked the three. I couldn't help but notice their hair and clothing. The one in the middle had long light red hair that was tied with a dark pink bow. She wore a yellow T-shirt with a long red jacket, long dark blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. The one on her left looked like a tomboy from the way her short purple hair was styled. She wore an orange T-shirt with a dark blue jacket, long blue jeans, and light blue running shoes. The one on the right was... odd for some reason. She had pink and purple long curly hair, and wore a white collard shirt with a purple jacket, long blue jeans, and white running shoes.
"Sir, we're mighty lost. Is it alright if we come in till the fog clears away?" asked the one in the middle in a southern accent. I frowned and looked over their heads to see anyone they were with.
"I don't know," I said slowly, looking around and seeing no one else in sight. "Do you know where your folks are?"
"They'll be here soon," said the one on the right in a slightly squeaky voice. I frowned as I began to think about this. On one hand I could help these kids and possibly get a big thanks from their parents. Then again, I could get my ass kicked by them because their girls went inside a strangers house. Then, an Idea came into my mind.
"How about we wait here for them to show up, huh?" I asked with a smile.
"Or, you could just let us in," said the tomboy of the group. The two girls glared at her in disapproval, then turned their gazes back on me.
"Please, it's really cold," said the one with the squeaky voice again. I was about to repeat my answer, but when I looked into her glowing green eyes, I paused. For what felt like an eternity, all I could do was stare into those eyes.
However, my focus was broken when she blinked, making me shake my head to stop the foggyness that had clouded my mind. I then realized that I had slowly opened the door without knowing, and my eyes went wide in terror at the girls.
“How did she do that? What's going on? Who are these kids?" All these thoughts ran through my head. I wanted to know, but another part of me didn't.
"Let us in," the girl in the middle said darkly, narrowing her eyes at me. I shook my head and quickly slammed the door shut. I stumbled backwards, and silently prayed they would leave. However, my hopes were dashed away when there came a set of loud bangs from my door that was louder then the previous knocks.
I jumped out of my skin and landed square on my ass. Then, I watched as my door was enveloped in a light green glow, and the door was ripped off its hinges. The door was then blasted forwards, barely missing me by a few inches. I could only stare at the three girls, who began speaking in unison.
"Let us in, let us in, let us in!" With each chant their voices got louder and louder. I watched as my windows cracked and shattered from the volume of their voices, making me shield my eyes from the raining glass.
Over and over they screamed, their faces showing no expressions. I closed my eyes, and silently whispered for me to wake up from this hell. Then, just as it started, it immediately stopped. I slowly opened my eyes, and saw that the three girls were gone, along with the fog that was in my yard.
For a while I sat their, my mind trying desperately to find a reasonable explanation, but all that I was able to mutter out were three words that summarized my confusion and terror.
"What the fuck?"

I let out a shuttering breath at the memory, but looked out my window to see a dense layer of fog slowly approaching my house, and if I squinted my eyes hard enough, I would barely make out three little girls slowly walking towards my front door.
Gritting my teeth, I cocked my gun, and muttered in a cold voice.
"Come and get me you sick demons."
