The Horme Effect
Donuts
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAfter finishing my business in the bathroom, I decided to take a walk around Canterlot. Walking around, I was wondering about what to do with my time. Celestia was already seeing that colt, so I decided to get myself something to eat at Joe's Donut Shop. I ordered a whole box of donuts along with a large chocolate shake and sat down while I waited for my number to be called up. With nopony to talk to, I decided to twiddle my thumbs around with my thoughts. It was quite a surprise to see Celestia talk to some other pony. Not that I mind or anything, but he seemed to be more familiar with her than the other colts she spoke to.
"Order 173!" Joe shouted upon pulling out a box of donuts.
Getting out of my seat, I took my box and my large chocolate shake and left the donut shop. I flew away and sat on one of the rooftops of the castle. I took a sip of my shake as I opened up the box to take a bite of a glazed donut. It's quite peaceful up when nopony's around to bother you. Gives you time to think and reflect about what just happened today. Laying down, I decided to look at the clouds to see if they were taking any shapes in the sky. I found a few taking shapes of either dragons, mules, or even cacti. But that wasn't really saying much.
"Care if I join you, Spike?" a voice called out.
I turn around saw that it was Luna.
"Sure, go ahead." I said, trying to be polite.
I heard her walk over and sit besides me. She grabbed a donut and took a bite, but not as big as mine though.
"A beautiful day, is it not?" Luna asked.
"Yeah. It's gorgeous out. But why are you here? Weren't you tending to your gardens?" I responded.
"I just had to make sure they were watered properly. One can't be too careful if they're not tended to on a daily basis. Which reminds me. Why are you up here and not with your friends?" Luna asked.
"I needed some time to myself. Plus, it's far more peaceful up here than down there."
"Why would you say that?"
"No reason. Just wanted to be up here."
"Hmm. By the way, how did you claim those wings on your back?" Luna asked with intrigue.
"It's complicated."
"Really? Tell me about it."
"Hmm... alright."
So I gave into her demand and started talking. From the most minute details to the heavy-handed, I told her everything about how I got my wings. The more I told her, the more impressed she was. I never would think to myself about long it's been since I've spent time with my Auntie Luna. She was often the more reasonable pony besides my mom. It just does wonders to feel about how she was willing to pay attention to everything you have say if anything was troubling you or not. Anyway, after I finished telling her my story, she said,
"Wow. I had no idea that was how dragons attained their wings. I knew there had to be a reason as to why you had no wings in the beginning, but it's a marvel to behold!"
"Yeah well, that was how I was able to save Rarity and Zecora." I said.
"Didn't Twilight help you as well?" Luna asked in a confused manner.
"You know what I mean."
"Hmm. Not that I care or anything of the sort, but what happened to you in the bathroom? You sounded as if you were in more pain than usual."
"TMI, Auntie Luna."
"Not that type of pain. Anypony can smell bowels from a mile away. I'm talking about-"
"Once again, Auntie Luna. TMI."
"Well, something has to be bothering you. You were a lot more aggressive with my sister than usual."
"I was just excited to see my mom again."
"Is that the only reason why you were so happy to see her?"
"Yes, Auntie Luna! What more is there to say?!"
"Okay, okay. I am only trying to talk to you. There is no reason to yell." Luna said, backing away a little.
"I know!" I shouted, hugging my legs in a fetal position.
"Is there any reason why you are acting this way?"
"There isn't. I just flew up here to get a little peace and quiet. Is there anything else you wanna know?" I asked, feeling ticked off now.
"Not much, really. I just wanted to talk to my favorite nephew. But if I overstayed my welcome, I will-"
"No. Just stay. Sorry I got a little hot under the collar there."
She seemed to have felt a little more eased now that I told her she wasn't my main source of anger.
"Then what is bothering you? I cannot help you if you refuse to tell me what has angered you." Luna said.
"There was this colt that mom was talking to. This guy named Anson or whatever his friggin' name was." I responded.
"Anson? Why are you irritated over him? You know that Celestia only has eyes for you."
"I know, but something tells me that he is trying to steal her away from me. I know that I'm sounding paranoid and all, but I just feel that he's trying to work his way into her heart. If I ever got my claws on him, I would-"
"Spike!"
I snapped out of my anger and turned towards Luna who seemed to be troubled for some odd reason.
"Is that why you are so angry? Because you feel Anson is trying to steal my sister away from you?" Luna asked.
"Why else am I angry?" I said.
"Look... I may not have spent much time with other ponies or doing much else outside my range of helping others in their dreams, but you have to know that Celestia is smitten with you. If she had wanted to cheat on you, she would have told you she was seeing somepony right now at the moment. You should not let it throw your mind."
"I know. I just got a lot on my mind right now."
"Hmm. Do you want to continue any further on what is burdening your mind?"
"Not right now." I said.
"I understand. But if there is anything bothering you, do not hesitate to come to me."
"Hmm."
On that note, we decided to shift to another subject. I know I shouldn't keep her away from my true source of anguish, other than the one concerning Anson, but there is no way she could ever understand. It's like a worse version of the period that mares receive once a month. If I told her or anypony else, there is no way they would take kindly to it. It's just too much to think about. Anyway, we spoke for a little bit before Luna left to return to her duties, leaving me with half a dozen of donuts and my now-empty shake, alone with my thoughts once more.
Author's Note
Hello, everybody. I know it's been weeks since I posted anything, but I've been busy with myself and I've been trying to figure out what other stories I could write. I'm doing a short one with Rainbow Dash x Gilda and I'm thinking about doing one with Thorax where he falls for Spike, although I am a little unsure about the latter. I deeply apologize for my absence and I hope this chapter makes up for it. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. I'll see you on the other side.
