Sometimes in life we don’t know what we have until we lose it and when the lost came to be a person there’s nothing more painful than not being able to tell them how important they were in your life and Rainbow Dash learned that the hard way.
It was a gloomy night in Ponyville’s graveyard, light rain falling from the sky, the cold air blowing softly making the branches of the trees to wave harmoniously. The only sound around was the one the water drops made when hitting the leaves on the trees and on the ground.
“Hey, it’s me again”, Said Rainbow as she stops at a small tomb which reads “Here lays Scootaloo, beloved friend and crusader.”, “I brought you something this time”, Said Rainbow placing a bunch of flowers next to her helmet and her red cloak.
“It’s been some time since I last visit you, I’ve been busy practicing but guess what, I finally made it, I’m in the Wonderbolts now, since you passed away I doubled my effort to make this victory for you”
Rainbow Dash’s eyes were beginning to turn into water, not wanting to burst out into tears she hold her breath and look away for some seconds until she regain control of herself. She stayed silent for some minutes until she found the courage to continue talking.
“I never had the chance to tell you how important you were to me until that day when you fell sick, by the time I arrive to the hospital was already too late”, A couple of tears rolled down of both of her cheeks. “Applejack told me that you wanted to see me but I was up to other things, you don’t know how stupid I feel for not going immediately”.

Two years ago.

“Hey Rainbow, ah think Scootaloo wanna see ya, ya should go to see her at least once”, Said Applejack staring at Rainbow.
“Okay, okay, I’ll go when I finish training”, Said Rainbow Dash flapping her wings and making some neck movements.
“Fine, but try not to go very late” Applejack turn to return to the hospital walking slowly.
Rainbow Dash practiced for hours, when she finally fished she notice it was already time for the sunset, “Visiting hours must be already over” Rainbow thought to herself and shrugged, “I’ll go tomorrow.”
The day after Rainbow received a letter from Twilight informing her that Scootaloo’s health was getting worse at every passing second and that it was now at a critical state now, after reading the letter Rainbow leaved everything she was doing and flew as fast as she could towards the hospital.
“WHERE IS SHE!?”, Rainbow Dash yelled as she entered to the hospital, “WHERE IS SHE!?
“Who are you searching for?, Nurse Redheart asked as she stepped in front of Rainbow.
“Scootaloo, I’m searching for Scootaloo, you know, a small filly with purple mane!”, Rainbow Dash was speaking fast and was rubbing her hooves desperately, “I need to see her rig…” Rainbow Dash was interrupted sharply.
"She passed away", said Nurse Redheart on a gloomy tone of voice.
Rainbow’s eyes opened wide when she received the notice, “WHAT! Y-YO-YOU’RE LYING!”, Rainbow Dash flew upon the hall where she saw her friends and the rest of the CMC gathered all together outside a room, “NO… PLEASE NO!”, Rainbow Dash thought when she see the scene. She flew towards the group with a lump in throat.
“W-What happened?”, Rainbow Dash asked hoping they did not tell her the same thing Nurse Redheart told her a few seconds ago.
“S-she couldn’t fight the illness” Said Applejack was strongly hugging Apple Bloom who was crying deeply and inconsolably.
“Why, did she have to go!?”, Cried Apple Bloom between sobs and whimpers. Rarity and Sweetie Bell were doing the same.
“Why didn’t you come Rainbow, her last wish was to see you and you abandon her”, Said Applejack her eyes reddened and tears rolling her eyes, still, her face showed a mix between sadness and anger. “You leave her to die alone”
“NO!, I… I didn’t know this will happen!”, Rainbow was shivering still staring at the ground with eyes wide open. “I-I… I didn’t want this to happen!”
“How come you are the Element of Loyalty if you leave your friends to die alone like that!”, Applejack was so angry that she wasn’t aware of what she was saying. “I still can’t believe you leave her like that.”
Rainbow Dash began to cry loudly but she turned to leave the hospital it was enough knowing she wasn’t there for her number one fan, she wouldn’t be able to hold up Applejack's words it was too much guilt to handle.
The day after, Rainbow Dash didn’t went to the burial, well, not at all she couldn’t simply just go and face the others knowing that they may hate her, so she decide to look at it hidden in some of the clouds above the graveyard watching in silence and sorrow.

“It took like 6 months for them to forgive me but I still feel like a piece of crap, you were my number one fan, my friend, you were almost like a sister to me and what did I do? I leave you to die alone in a hospital bed” Rainbow’s eyes were red for all the time she has been crying, her face was damp for all the tears she has been shedding all this time, “Applejack was right how come I’m the Element of Loyalty, I don’t deserve that, I don’t deserve anything, I fail you that’s why I’m here to tell you that someday I’ll see you again and I’ll be able to tell you how sorry I am for letting you all alone.
Rainbow pulled out of her saddlebags her most prized possession, hey goggles, but they were not just simple goggles, they were signed by Spitfire, she grabbed Scootaloo’s helmet and wrapped the goggles on it.
“There you go, you deserved them more than me”, said Rainbow putting a hoof on the tombstone letting out another couple of tears to splash on the ground. “I’ll always remember you Scoot, I promised you that, I’ll be thinking of you on every performance I do and they will all be for you.”
Rainbow Dash turned to leave when a ray of sunlight passed through the trees to illuminate Scootaloo’s grave, Rainbow turned back again to see the grave for last time and see the ray and smile. “Goodbye… for now.”
