//-------------------------------------------------------// Luna Creates A Civilization -by FireheartThePone- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Well, She Needed Something To Do. //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note I apologize in advance for the Olde English mangling. I haven't got much experience with it. But, yeah. Just a random idea I had after watching the video. I might add more to this AU, so you'll want to put this in your Tracking if you actually like it for some insane reason, despite it being listed as Complete. Well, She Needed Something To Do. “How could Our own sister do this to Us?!” Nightmare Moon raged, stomping her silver-shod hooves upon the Moon’s dusty surface. Being this close to the source of their power had allowed Luna and Nightmare to separate into twin beings, so the Lunar Princess watched the Night Tyrant rant from a short distance away. Perhaps it was the fact that you were trying to dethrone her, and cast Equestria into shadow? she didn’t respond. Suddenly, the two stopped, as they felt an impact upon the Moon’s surface. This had happened before, but now that they were stuck on it for a thousand years, they didn’t have much else to do. So the two slowly walked over towards the new crater. It was a tiny thing, caused by the smallest of meteorites. Nightmare was about to go back to ranting, leaving the rock as just another that littered the planet’s surface, when they heard something. A soft hiss. A hatch in the rock flapped open, exposing the hollow inside to the lunar air. Or rather, lack of it. Luna, noticing a flash of white within, gently lifted it out. A rack, upon which were tiny biped creatures in pods, only about as tall as her hoof was wide. “What is this?” The Nightmare asked confusedly, as Luna examined the creatures. “We do not know. Perhaps…” Luna turned back to the meteorite vehicle, examining it. “We always wondered if there was other life out there within the stars Our sister controls one of. It seems this is proof. Stand back, We shall try something.” The Nightmare, still confused, obliged. Luna created a bubble of air, carefully disconnected one of the pods from the rack, and placed it within the bubble. As soon as it touched the gas, the pod hissed, and began opening. Luna rapidly set it on the ground, and let the creature within out. It pulled itself from the confines of the space, looked around slowly, and eventually spotted the two alicorns watching it. It immediately fell back, kicking up a cloud of moondust, staring at them scaredly. “It must see Us as gods.” Nightmare realized. “Perhaps We could utilize that. Create a civilization, to assist Us when We return to Equestria and take Our rightful place.” “Perhaps. Maybe not as an army against Our sister, but creating a civilization would certainly give Us something to do, would it not?” “Yes, of course.” Celestia responded to the ponies before her. “We shall grant thy wish.” It was roughly a week after Luna’s banishment. Celestia was still suffering, but held a brave face before her ponies. These two had asked for seeds, so as to begin an apple orchard. She charged her horn, to summon the requested items from her private store… and failed. Surprised, she tried again. Still nothing. “W-we apologize. There appears to be something wrong. We shall return soon.” She teleported away, and into the vast room intended to hold massive amounts of nearly everything imaginable, and gasped. It was nearly empty. B-but, the only others who have access to this room are the ones who refill it, and Luna… Celestia realized. What is She doing? She began charging a teleportation spell, to visit her sister upon the Moon, before realizing. She will still be under the influence of the Nightmare. We cannot risk warping there, where She would be stronger than Us. She changed the destination of the spell, to inform the correct ponies that the Storeroom would need restocking. What is She doing up there? Many Years Later Celestia watched as the stars shifted. In but a few seconds, Nightmare Moon would escape her prison… But as the stars fell into position, nothing happened. Celestia blinked. Surely the Lunar Tyrant would have been waiting, and would have escaped as soon as the magic that kept her there lessened? She came to a decision. She would do what she had not all those years ago, when Luna first started taking materials from the Storeroom. She charged the spell, and vanished in a blaze of golden light. “What are they doing now?” Luna asked, exasperated, as she watched the Mel’noor (What She and Nightmare had decided to call these beings) gathered on the edge of their Dome. As they saw her, Na’toth, the Dreamer of this Citadel, waved to her, signalling that he wished to speak with her. She complied, opening a mental link. “Greetings, Luna. Our people are scared. La’nag has felt a mysterious energy surge recently. She describes it as feeling like both an exact opposite and companion to thine own, but it is not the Nightmare’s work. Do thou know what it could be?” “No, We do not. We apologize, but there is much to do?” “I understand. I would not waste thy time unless I thought it was important. I merely wished to warn thee.” Luna gave him the mental equivalent of a nod, then closed the link. She walked away from the Dome, thinking to herself. A power similar to Our own, but not the Nightmare’s? We wonder… She opened another mental link, this time with the Nightmare herself. We assume thou were listening in? Yes. Could it be? Luna closed her eyes, scanning the surface of the Moon, aware Nightmare was doing the same. The two found the source of the power at the same time, and spoke as one. Sister! Celestia was looking around the Moon’s surface curiously. She had appeared in the centre of the crater that made up the ‘eye’ of the unicorn head upon the Moon’s surface, and could see a glint of light in the distance. But before she could take her first step towards it, twin flashes of light, one a dark, evil-looking purple, and one the paler blue she recognized, appeared before her, leaving behind two alicorns; her sister and the corruption that had attacked her. But before she could begin charging a spell to attack the Nightmare, Luna leapt forward, grabbing her in a hug. “Sister! It has been too long!” “Yes, Luna, yes it has. But, would you please let me go? The Nightmare is-“ She was cut off as Luna looked at her oddly. “The Nightmare?” She looked behind her, at the evil mare, then gasped in realization. “Oh! When thou last saw her she tried to hurt thee! Do not worry, sister. We are at peace.” Celestia stared at her, before managing a “What?” “Perhaps it would be better to just show thee.” Nightmare spoke, gesturing a hoof towards the glow Celestia had seen earlier, before beginning to trot towards it. “We shall explain on the way.” Confused beyond belief, Celestia numbly followed both sides of her sister. “So, you have created an entire civilization!?” Celestia asked, as Luna and Nightmare finished their tale. “We have, sister.” Was the Lunar Princess’ response. “Ah! We are nearly here. Thou canst meet Krop’tor! She is a lovely girl. Young, but clever.” They stepped over the edge of the crater, revealing the source of the light. It was a dome of softly shimmering air, that Celestia recognized as an air-bubble spell, about as tall as the alicorn herself. Within, stood buildings, not unlike what one might find in a tiny Manehattan. And tiny creatures scurried around within, no taller than her hoof was wide. They looked like humans, but with yellowed skin. They looked up at her fearfully, then upon seeing Luna and the Nightmare alongside her, relaxed, to go about their… day. On the Moon, there wasn’t really a day-night cycle. “What are they?” “We call them the Mel’noor. We found them within the first hour of Our banishment, and set about creating a society built around balance. That is how We came to an agreement.” “They see us as goddesses. Luna is the goddess of dreams, and hope, while We are the goddess of nightmares, and despair. But, they know that thou canst not have one without the other.” Celestia knelt down, to look more closely at the civilization built with lunar stone. They looked up at her with just as much curiosity. She stood up again. “Is there any way we can walk among them?” “Of course.” Luna replied, casting a spell. Celestia felt the world getting larger around her, until she stood just as tall as one of the Mel’noor. Luna and Moon walked into the dome, the air rippling softly around them, and Celestia followed. Within, the air was far warmer than the chilly lack of atmosphere the plains outside carried. She looked around in wonder. At this level, the buildings were even taller than the city of Manehattan she had compared it to earlier. As she walked, the Mel’noor smiled at her, though some cast her wary glances, and one or two even regarded her with open hostility. But before long, a small Mel’noor ran up to them, and gave a bow to the three. “Arise, Krop’tor. Thou dost not need bow to Us.” Luna told her with a smile, the girl complying. “Greetings, Luna and Moon.” Krop’tor said, nodding to each as she said their names. “And whom is this?” She asked, looking at Celestia. “I am Celestia, Luna… and Moon’s sister.” She replied. “Ah. It is good to finally meet thee.” Krop’tor said, without the slightest deviation from her previous polite tone. Confused, Celestia asked, “But, I banished Luna and Moon here for a thousand years. Shouldn’t you all hate me?” Much to her surprise, Krop’tor began laughing. “Some do, of course. But this society is built around balance. Much as there must be darkness, there must be light. And besides, if thou had not, we would not be here.” Celestia had to agree with that. “Well, sister. You have created quite the masterpiece here, both of you.” She said to them with a smile. “I believe it may be for the best if you stayed here, to govern your civilization while I govern mine. Unless you would like to return?” The two alicorns looked at each other, before back at Celestia with a smile. “We have lost Our yearning for Equestria over the years, now that We have something new to rule over. Though, Our land is technically separate. If We decided to finally exact Our revenge, We have an entire planet’s worth of army.” Moon said slyly. Celestia chuckled. “Very well. How about this; we sign a treaty, just to have official paperwork if needed, and we can let ponies of Equestria and Mel’noor of… What have you called this place, anyway? Whatever the name, we can let them come to each other’s planets, and mingle. Does that sound good?” She smiled, and her sisters returned it. “Yes, it does. And we have thought on that over the years. Krop’tor, have the votes been counted?” Luna asked. “Yes, Luna. The general consensus is to call it Gallia.” “Hmm. Then shall we, sister?” “Yes, sisters.” And they vanished in blazes of light, to draw up the treaty. After hugs were exchanged, of course.
