Spike's Adventure through the Digital World (Dusk Edition)

It was another normal day. Tomorrow was the day of the Normal Rank Tournament between Night Claw and Light Fang. Spike was participating in said tournament on behalf of Night Claw. Spike may have been a new Tamer, but his partner Digimon Dracmon was a force to be reckoned with, along with his SkullMeramon and Antylamon.

As Spike stood in the line with the other Normal Rank Tamers of Night Claw, Chief Twilight Sparkle and her partner, ChaosGallantmon spoke, "Ok everyone. As you all know, tomorrow is the day of the Normal Rank Tournament between Night Claw and Light Fang. We're here to practice before tomorrow's tournament. Now, I've gotten the local Digimon to agree not to interfere with out training, but I still don't want anyone getting hurt. Stay alert, just in case anything happens. Spike, you'll be practicing with Garble and Gabby. Starlight Glimmer, you'll go with Thorax and Iron Will.

Spike nodded as Twilight told him he was training with Garble and Gabby. Garble suggested, "Hey, why don't we go further in?"

Gabby rolled her eyes, "What's the point? We're not practicing against the local Digimon, so it's not like going any further will be any different than training right here. You agree, don't you Spike?"

Spike shrugged his shoulders, "Honestly, I agree with Gabby, but if all of us stay here, we might accidentally get mixed up. I'm fine training here, but both groups might want to train somewhere different."

Garble smiled, "That sounds like he agrees with me more!"

Gabby growled lightly, "Don't be a smart ass Garble! Spike even said he agreed with me!"

Before the two could continue arguing, Spike sighed and walked farther into the ruins and called back, "You two can argue if you want, I'm going to train, feel free to join me if you decide to stop acting like a couple of 5 year olds fighting over a toy."

As Garble and Gabby stopped arguing and ran after Spike, Garble yelled, "N-No fair Spike! It was my idea to go further in!"

Gabby sighed, "Stop. Just stop Garble. We're going further in, isn't that good enough for you?"

As Spike stopped, he turned around and asked, "How about you and me go at it first Garble?"

Garble nodded, "Yeah! My Impmon is itching for a fight!"

Before the two tamers could send out their Digimon, Spike felt a shiver go down his spine and said, "Wait... something's not right..."

Garble raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean Spike? Everything looks fine to-" before Garble could finish his sentence, the ground started shaking and he fell over, hurting his ankle. As the earthquake ended, Garble groaned in pain, "F-Fuck! I think I broke my ankle!"

Gabby ran over to Garble and checked his ankle, "I'm no doctor, but it doesn't look broken, just badly twisted. Spike, can you go check on the others? I'll stay here with Garble to make sure he gets back safe. He may be an idiot, but he's still my teammate, and I'm not leaving the injured behind."

Garble growled lightly, "H-Hey, don't call me an idiot..."

"The injured should stay quiet! Spike, go see if the others need help-" Gabby was about to help Garble up when a Vilemon appeared, "Vilemon!? I thought Chief Twilight got the local Digimon to agree not to interfere with our training!?"

Spike stepped in front of Garble and Gabby and said, "It might be because of the earthquake, they're startled and wary. But Vilemon, if you want to get to my friends, you'll have to go through me."

The Vilemon was growling and foaming at the mouth, and when it attacked, Spike's SkullMeramon came out and slammed one of his flaming chains into the Vilemon, defeating it quickly. "You ok boss?"

Spike nodded, "Thanks SkullMeramon, that was too close for comfort. Let's go see if the others need help." Spike and his Digimon headed back towards where they came from and saw Starlight Glimmer, Thorax, and Iron Will being attacked by more Vilemon.

When Starlight saw Spike, she called out, "Spike, help out over here!"

As if on cue, Spike's Antylamon turned its hands into axe like appendages and spun in a twister motion, cutting up the Vilemon and causing them to go back to data. "This isn't normal, these Vilemon are much more aggressive than normal. Master, we should check on Chief Twilight and see if she might know what's going on."

Spike nodded and headed back to the entrance to the ruins and saw Twilight and ChaosGallentmon defeating three Vilemon without much effort. Twilight chuckled, "You seem bored ChaosGallantmon."

The tall dark knight Digimon sighed, "I didn't even break a sweat. If we're fighting out here, I'd much rather have some sort of challenge. But still, these Vilemon weren't just mad, something was controlling them, I'm sure of it." As he looked around, he saw a strange man in a dark red cloak laughing in the corner. He and Twilight ran over, but the man disappeared before they could catch him, "Damn! He got away!"

Spike didn't say anything, but something about the man in the red cloak, which he saw as well, felt strangely familiar. As the other Normal Rank tamers came back to meet with Chief Twilight, He said, "Sis, what could have possibly happened that made those Vilemon go nuts? Garble nearly broke his ankle because of those little buggers."

Twilight Sparkle sighed, "Right now, I'm not sure. Everyone, go back to Darkmoon City and get some rest for tomorrow's tournament. After what happened here, we're all going to need a good night's sleep for tomorrow. Spike, if you don't mind, I'd like to talk to you in the Union Room when we return to Darkmoon City, it's just some procedural things, nothing too big."

Spike gulped, he had a feeling there was more to it than that, but he nodded, "Yeah sis, I'll see you there."

When Spike met with Twilight and ChaosGallantmon, Julia smiled, "Calm down Spike, this is nothing to be worried about. I just wanted to show you this. Whoever that guy at Thriller Ruins was, he had a picture of you, which he dropped when he ran. Do you know who this person might be?"

Spike shook his head, shocked at the picture of him when he was younger. "No... I have no idea who that guy was, but... this picture... it's an old one, why would he have it? Please Twilight, don't leave me in the dark on anything you learn about this guy."

Twilight nodded, "Wouldn't dream of it Spike, if this person knows you, you'll be the first to know if we figure anything out about this. Go back to your Tamer Home, get some rest."

When Spike left, ChaosGallantmon sighed, "He knows this man, even if he doesn't know where he knows him from."

Twilight nodded, "I agree, but for now, it's just theory, nothing concrete. Let's go home."

Who is this mysterious person, and why did he have a childhood picture of Spike? Spike seems to recognize the man from somewhere, but where? Only time will tell...
