Tomorrow was the day of the Normal Rank Tournament between Night Claw and Light Fang. Spike was participating in said tournament on behalf of Night Claw. Spike may have been a new Tamer, but his partner Digimon Dracmon was a force to be reckoned with, along with his SkullMeramon and Antylamon. As Spike stood in the line with the other Normal Rank Tamers of Night Claw, Chief Twilight Sparkle and her partner, ChaosGallantmon spoke, "Ok everyone. As you all know, tomorrow is the day of the Normal Rank Tournament between Night Claw and Light Fang. We're here to practice before tomorrow's tournament. Now, I've gotten the local Digimon to agree not to interfere with out training, but I still don't want anyone getting hurt. Stay alert, just in case anything happens. Spike, you'll be practicing with Garble and Gabby. Starlight Glimmer, you'll go with Thorax and Iron Will. Spike nodded as Twilight told him he was training with Garble and Gabby. Garble suggested, "Hey, why don't we go further in?" Gabby rolled her eyes, "What's the point? We're not practicing against the local Digimon, so it's not like going any further will be any different than training right here. You agree, don't you Spike?" Spike shrugged his shoulders, "Honestly, I agree with Gabby, but if all of us stay here, we might accidentally get mixed up. I'm fine training here, but both groups might want to train somewhere different." Garble smiled, "That sounds like he agrees with me more!" Gabby growled lightly, "Don't be a smart ass Garble! Spike even said he agreed with me!" Before the two could continue arguing, Spike sighed and walked farther into the ruins and called back, "You two can argue if you want, I'm going to train, feel free to join me if you decide to stop acting like a couple of 5 year olds fighting over a toy." As Garble and Gabby stopped arguing and ran after Spike, Garble yelled, "N-No fair Spike! It was my idea to go further in!" Gabby sighed, "Stop. Just stop Garble. We're going further in, isn't that good enough for you?" As Spike stopped, he turned around and asked, "How about you and me go at it first Garble?" Garble nodded, "Yeah! My Impmon is itching for a fight!" Before the two tamers could send out their Digimon, Spike felt a shiver go down his spine and said, "Wait... something's not right..." Garble raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean Spike? Everything looks fine to-" before Garble could finish his sentence, the ground started shaking and he fell over, hurting his ankle. As the earthquake ended, Garble groaned in pain, "F-Fuck! I think I broke my ankle!" Gabby ran over to Garble and checked his ankle, "I'm no doctor, but it doesn't look broken, just badly twisted. Spike, can you go check on the others? I'll stay here with Garble to make sure he gets back safe. He may be an idiot, but he's still my teammate, and I'm not leaving the injured behind." Garble growled lightly, "H-Hey, don't call me an idiot..." "The injured should stay quiet! Spike, go see if the others need help-" Gabby was about to help Garble up when a Vilemon appeared, "Vilemon!? I thought Chief Twilight got the local Digimon to agree not to interfere with our training!?" Spike stepped in front of Garble and Gabby and said, "It might be because of the earthquake, they're startled and wary. But Vilemon, if you want to get to my friends, you'll have to go through me." The Vilemon was growling and foaming at the mouth, and when it attacked, Spike's SkullMeramon came out and slammed one of his flaming chains into the Vilemon, defeating it quickly. "You ok boss?" Spike nodded, "Thanks SkullMeramon, that was too close for comfort. Let's go see if the others need help." Spike and his Digimon headed back towards where they came from and saw Starlight Glimmer, Thorax, and Iron Will being attacked by more Vilemon. When Starlight saw Spike, she called out, "Spike, help out over here!" As if on cue, Spike's Antylamon turned its hands into axe like appendages and spun in a twister motion, cutting up the Vilemon and causing them to go back to data. "This isn't normal, these Vilemon are much more aggressive than normal. Master, we should check on Chief Twilight and see if she might know what's going on." Spike nodded and headed back to the entrance to the ruins and saw Twilight and ChaosGallentmon defeating three Vilemon without much effort. Twilight chuckled, "You seem bored ChaosGallantmon." The tall dark knight Digimon sighed, "I didn't even break a sweat. If we're fighting out here, I'd much rather have some sort of challenge. But still, these Vilemon weren't just mad, something was controlling them, I'm sure of it." As he looked around, he saw a strange man in a dark red cloak laughing in the corner. He and Twilight ran over, but the man disappeared before they could catch him, "Damn! He got away!" Spike didn't say anything, but something about the man in the red cloak, which he saw as well, felt strangely familiar. As the other Normal Rank tamers came back to meet with Chief Twilight, He said, "Sis, what could have possibly happened that made those Vilemon go nuts? Garble nearly broke his ankle because of those little buggers." Twilight Sparkle sighed, "Right now, I'm not sure. Everyone, go back to Darkmoon City and get some rest for tomorrow's tournament. After what happened here, we're all going to need a good night's sleep for tomorrow. Spike, if you don't mind, I'd like to talk to you in the Union Room when we return to Darkmoon City, it's just some procedural things, nothing too big." Spike gulped, he had a feeling there was more to it than that, but he nodded, "Yeah sis, I'll see you there." When Spike met with Twilight and ChaosGallantmon, Julia smiled, "Calm down Spike, this is nothing to be worried about. I just wanted to show you this. Whoever that guy at Thriller Ruins was, he had a picture of you, which he dropped when he ran. Do you know who this person might be?" Spike shook his head, shocked at the picture of him when he was younger. "No... I have no idea who that guy was, but... this picture... it's an old one, why would he have it? Please Twilight, don't leave me in the dark on anything you learn about this guy." Twilight nodded, "Wouldn't dream of it Spike, if this person knows you, you'll be the first to know if we figure anything out about this. Go back to your Tamer Home, get some rest." When Spike left, ChaosGallantmon sighed, "He knows this man, even if he doesn't know where he knows him from." Twilight nodded, "I agree, but for now, it's just theory, nothing concrete. Let's go home." Who is this mysterious person, and why did he have a childhood picture of Spike? Spike seems to recognize the man from somewhere, but where? Only time will tell... //-------------------------------------------------------// The Normal Rank Tournament //-------------------------------------------------------// The Normal Rank Tournament Spike had been up early on the day of the tournament between Night Claw and Light Fang. Getting up early had helped him be alert enough to win the Group A battles in the tournament, placing him in the finals against whoever would win the Group B battles. While the rest of Night Claw was watching the battles in Group B, Twilight and ChaosGallantmon were going over some data they'd pulled up overnight. Twilight was shocked as she read the findings, "ChaosGallantmon, this can't be right... Spike... a Draconian? The Draconians went extinct back in Equestria decades ago." ChaosGallantmon nodded, "As surprising as it is, there's no mistaking it, Spike is made up of human and Draconian DNA, with some data. You realize what that means, don't you? Spike is part Digimon." Twilight couldn't believe it, the boy she'd raised as her little brother was part Draconian, and part Digimon? She sighed, "Well, that might explain why he's so in sync with his Digimon, he's one himself. We'll have to keep an eye on him" Back at the Night Claw waiting room, all hell broke loose when Iron Will came out of the Group B final match, defeated. Spike calmed everyone down, "Come on you guys, we can still win the tournament. I already won the Group A matches, and I know if I try hard enough and believe in my Digimon, I can win the finals." Gabby nodded, agreeing with Spike, "Spike's right, it's not over yet. I'm sure Spike can win!" The others got over their disappointment and quickly voiced their confidence in Spike. As Twilight came back into the waiting room, she asked Spike, "Spike, I'd like you to meet Chief Flash Sentry of Light Fang. Follow me." As Spike followed Twilight, he saw Chief Flash Sentry along with his partner Ophanimon. Spike introduced himself after saluting, "Hello Chief Flash Sentry. My name's Spike Drake. I don't know if Twilight has told you, but I'm her adopted little brother." Flash nodded, "Yes, she's mentioned you before. You were impressive in the Group A matches, but Ember is not a Tamer to be taken lightly." Ophanimon spoke, agreeing with her Tamer, "Yes, Ember has a lot of potential as a Tamer." A voice came from the Light Fang waiting room, "Thank you Flash and Ophanimon, but I've still got a lot to learn." A girl with turquoise hair walked out and saluted, "It's nice to meet you Spike. My name's Ember, I'm the one you'll be facing in the finals." Spike smiled, "Nice to meet you Ember. I think I'll enjoy our match." The two groups headed back to the waiting room until it was time for the final match. Spike stepped on the warp pad to the arena and smiled when he saw Ember, "No matter who wins, let's be sure to have a good battle!" Ember nodded, "Right!" And with that, the battle began. Spike's SkullMeramon acted first and slammed one of his chains into Ember's Palmon, dealing a lot of damage. However, Ember's MegaSeadramon was able to lighten the damage by encasing Palmon in a bubble of water. As the battle continued, eventually it came down to Ember's Palmon and Spike's Dracmon. The two were exhausted, but continued to fight on. Spike smiled, "I think our Digimon are running out of energy, this next attack may be the last one for our Digimon." Ember nodded, "Yeah, let's do this Spike!" As the two Rookies ran at each other, they stood after colliding. After a few seconds, Palmon passed out on the arena floor. The referee said, "And the winner of the Normal Rank Tournament is Spike of Night Claw!" Ember groaned, "Man, how could I lose? Heh, you're going to be a good rival for me Spike. I guess this is where we part ways for now, but I'm looking forward to the day we fight again." Spike nodded, "So do I Ember, so do I." and headed back to the Night Claw waiting room. Twilight smiled as Spike came in and told him, "Good job Spike, I'm proud of you, both as your sister and the Night Claw Leader. I have a reward for you when we get back to Darkmoon City. Go to Tamer Home to pick it up." Spike smiled, but as he and Twilight walked back towards the warp gate back to Darkmoon City, they saw the strange man from the other day. One of the guards said, "You there! State your name, rank, and intention!" Twilight gasped, "It's him, from before!" The man snickered and disappeared once again, just like he did in Thriller Ruins. Flash Sentry asked Twilight, "Twilight, do you know that guy?" Twilight nodded, "The other day during a training session, that guy caused the wild Digimon in Thriller Ruins go crazy and attack us indiscriminately. Something about him bugs me. You should get back to Sunshine City and check your servers. Something's not right about this guy, and I have a feeling this isn't the last time we'll see him." Flash nodded, "Right, we'll be in contact Twilight." and stepped on the warp pad back to Sunshine City. When Twilight was meeting with the Bronze Tamers from Night Claw, she was also meeting with Spike. After she dismissed the Bronze Tamers, she told Spike, "Spike. I need to tell you something important." Spike sighed, "Alright, lay it on me, what did I do this time sis?" Twilight shook her head, "You're not in trouble, I just need to tell you this. You know that everything you see around you is made of digital data, binary code, whatever you'd like to call it. And then there's Equestria, the world we humans came from before coming here. Well... you're not fully human. For reasons I can't disclose right now, we did a blood test, and your results tell us... you're part Draconian." Spike's eyes widened, "Draconian!? B-But I thought the Draconians went extinct years ago?" Twilight nodded, "They did, that's why I don't understand how it's possible. I have a feeling that strange man we saw yesterday and at the coliseum today knows something about this, and like I said, if I learn anything more, I'll contact you." Spike nodded, "Thanks sis. I'm going back to Tamer Home. I'll see you around." ChaosGallantmon sighed as Spike left, "We can't tell him the full truth, not yet at least." Twilight nodded, "Yes, you're right. For now, let him rest." //-------------------------------------------------------// A Dangerous Bug //-------------------------------------------------------// A Dangerous Bug Spike had been asleep since he got back from the Coliseum, so he had no idea what was happening in Darkmoon City. People were talking about the tournaments. They were really excited for them. Tomorrow was the Bronze Tournament. But things were about to get crazy. In the Dark Terminal, a Cherubimon was talking to a Ghoulmon, "So, who do you think will win tomorrow's Bronze Tournament?" The Ghoulmon sighed, "Well, if Spike were a Bronze Tamer, there'd be no doubt Night Claw would win. Spike's a natural Tamer, he's just got some sort of gift. It might be the fact that his sister Twilight Sparkle is Night Claw's chief, but I think he got to where he is on his own. Anyway, since Spike's not in the tournament, you can't underestimate Light Fang's Bronze Tamers." All of a sudden, an alarm started blaring and a strange mass of energy appeared. Cherubimon stepped in front of it, along with Ghoulmon and said, "Hey, you look suspicious!" Ghoulmon took a battle stance, "Darkmoon City is beyond this point. I won't let anyone suspicious through!" The mass of energy cackled and shot out strange orbs of energy, knocking the nearby humans out and converting all the Digimon into Digi-Eggs. The energy made its way onto the warp panel into Darkmoon City, more specifically, Dark Gate. When BishopChessmon and RookChessmon saw the intruder come in from the Dark Terminal, BishopChessmon told it, "Stop right there! I will not allow someone like you to enter Darkmoon City!" RookChessmon nodded, "Don't bother resisting, this shield is impenetrable." The mass of energy cackled again and said, "Oh really? Why don't we just test that theory?" before sending out more strange orbs of energy, turning the guards and all the other Digimon into Digi-Eggs. It then made its way to the Union Room. Meanwhile at Tamer Home, Spike had just woken up, but he was feeling strangely sick. He got up from his bed and walked towards the warp panel back into the City when Gatomon, his Navigation Digimon stopped him saying, "Spike! We've got a big problem! A virus attacked the city, and it even got to here at home. SkullMeramon and Antylamon have degenerated back to their Rookie forms. You were supposed to- huh? Spike, you look horrible! What's wrong!?" Spike rubbed his temples and said, "Nothing, it's just a bit of a bad wake up." Gatomon sighed, "Fine, if you insist. You should go out to the city to see if you can help, just be careful." As Spike left, Gatomon said to herself, "Is it possible that the virus is affecting him? No... a computer virus shouldn't affect a human. Maybe he's just caught a cold..." Spike arrived in Dark Plaza and saw that all the Digimon had been turned into Digi-Eggs. "Holy shit... All this destruction... I've got to get to Twilight!" he ran towards the Union Room, but stopped when he got a headache, right in front of the warp panel. "What's going on with this cold? It shouldn't be this bad... Just focus Spike!" before stepping onto the warp panel to the Union Room and seeing the strange mass of energy attacking Twilight and ChaosGallentmon. Twilight groaned, "Something's trying to worm its way into my mind." ChaosGallantmon tried to get up, "Got to get rid of the virus data... before... it takes over." Spike ran over to them and said to the mass of energy, "Leave my sister alone!" The energy mass turned around to see Spike, "Hmm... ah, yes... Well, since it's you, I'll be leaving. I've caused enough destruction for now. But first, let me test your skills! Defend yourself or perish Spike!" Spike was shocked that the strange energy mass knew his name, but his Digimon were ready to fight. Even though SkullMeramon and Antylamon has degenerated to Candlemon and Lopmon, they were still strong enough to help Dracmon fight. As the three Digimon attacked the energy mass, Spike's cold started to get better. "Keep it up you guys, we can do this!" As the energy mass was bested, it laughed again and said, "Impressive. I'd expect nothing less from you Spike. We'll meet again, you can count on it." before disappearing. Twilght got up, followed by ChaosGallantmon, and thanked Spike, "Good job driving whoever that was off little bro." ChaosGallantmon nodded in agreement, "Thank you Spike, you saved my life." Spike smiled, "It was nothing, but how did that thing know my name? And why was it that the weaker it got, the better my cold got?" Twilight sighed, "You're asking questions I don't know the answers to, yet. For now, you and the others should start system checks. We need to know the extent of the damage that the virus caused." As Spike and the other Normal Rank Tamers checked on the systems, Thorax complained, "Man, why do we have to check the systems? We've seen the damage the virus did on the way here." Iron Will agreed, "Yeah, plus this is so tedious! I hate system checks!" Starlight Glimmer sighed and rolled her eyes, "Shut up you two, this is important work for the Union. Just because we can see some damage doesn't mean there's not damage we can't see." Gabby walked over from talking to Twilight and said to Spike and Garble, "Come on you two, Chief Twilight wants to talk to us." As Spike and Garble followed Gabby, Twilight told them, "From what we can tell, there's minimum injuries from the attack, but the North, South, and East areas of Darkmoon are down, and so is the bridge to Sunshine City." ChaosGallantmon nodded, "Which means we have no contact with Sunshine City or any of their Tamers. We were able to get three Digi-Areas online. Chip Forest, Thriller Ruins, and Sunken Tunnel are back online after the attack. Spike, we'd like you to check out the Sunken Tunnel. Just be careful." Thorax, Iron Will, and Starlight Glimmer ran up to them, Thorax saying, "Chief Twilight, let us go too!" Iron Will agreed, "We can help, I know we can!" Starlight Glimmer was nervous to ask, but got out the words, "Chief Twilight... I request your permission as well..." Twilight shook her head, "Request denied! We don't know what's going on outside, you'd be putting yourselves in harm's way, and I won't allow it. That's the final word on the matter." The three tamers left, and when they did, ChaosGallantmon sighed, "I understand how they feel, I want to get out there and help as much as they do, but we don't know what's out there. Spike, report back here once you've investigated Sunken Tunnel." Before saluting him, along with Twilight and Spike saluting back. //-------------------------------------------------------// Spike Goes to the Limit //-------------------------------------------------------// Spike Goes to the Limit Spike had been helping out Digimon who needed favors done. Helping Digimon was just part of the job as a Tamer. He decided to go back to Tamer Home to Digiconvert the Chionmon data he'd collected at Sunken Tunnel. Chionmon was a Champion level Digimon, so he'd be helpful to have, even if it was in his reserves. When he had finished creating his Chionmon, he headed back to Dark Center and heard Piedmon, "Spike! We've got a Union request. Head over to see your sister in the Union Room." Spike sighed, but it was just part of the job. He headed to the Union Room and Twilight addressed him, "Spike, a new Digi-Area has come online. I'd like you, Buff Biceps, and Time Turner to head and take a look around there." Time Turner tipped his hat, "No problem chief. But are you sure Spike is ready to go there? I've heard there's a lot of tough Digimon, and Spike's still a Normal Rank Tamer, me and Buff Biceps are Bronze Rank." Twilight nodded, "Yes, I'm sure. Spike needs more experience with the new Digi-Areas." Spike smiled, "Thanks sis. I'll do my best." and headed out towards Dark Gate. When he got to Dark Terminal, he heard a voice cackling, and it was the same cackle as the strange mass of energy had. A voice spoke in his head, "Come Spike, come to Limit Valley. I want to push you beyond your limits, to see if you can tap into your true power. I'll be waiting." Spike shook his head and sighed, "What's up with that guy? Who is he, and how does he know so much about me?" He continued on his way through Limit Valley. When Spike made his way to the end of the valley, the energy mass was waiting for him. "Ah, so you're here. I believe it's time I explain who I am, and who you are." The energy exploded into a large Digimon, "My name is Grimmon, and you Spike, were an experiment I worked on years ago. I knew humans were helpful towards Digimon. 20 years ago, I collected human DNA, along with a small portion of Draconian DNA. The Draconians were a race of proud and powerful warriors. I saw potential in using their DNA in the experiment. Finally, I used my own Digital DNA Data. So, you are my son, my own flesh and blood. I created you 20 years ago, but it took 2 years for your form to develop enough that I could send you into the real world." Spike was shocked at what Grimmon was saying, "No... that's a lie! I can't be... a Digimon! That's not possible!" Grimmon chuckled, "I expected such a reaction. I'll prove it to you!" he roared loudly, and sent a beam of energy at Spike, which enveloped him, causing him to glow. Spike looked at his hands, his whole body was glowing, just like a Digimon that was about to Digivolve. As the light enveloped his body, he grew purple and green scales, his nails turned into claws, his teeth became much sharper, and he grew a lizard like tail. When the light faded, Spike looked at himself and said, "S-So it's true... I really am a Digimon..." Grimmon nodded, "Yes, and since you are my son, you will join me as we rule the Digital World, together as father and son!" Spike spit in Grimmon's direction, "Like hell I will! A father who abandons his only son for 18 years, just for the sake of an experiment? I'll have no such father! If I really am a Digimon, than I can still fight you!" Sangloupmon and Chionmon came out of their Digi-Cards, and said, "We're with you boss!" Grimmon growled, "Very well. I see you will not be swayed. It's truly a shame, but if you will not join me, you will die! I don't accept any resistance, even from my own son!" before swinging his tail at his son and his Digimon. Sangloupmon and Spike jumped out of the way while Chionmon went into his igloo shell to avoid damage. Spike felt instinct overcome him, "Needle Fang!" his already sharp teeth grew longer as he bit into Grimmon's arm, causing lots of damage. As Grimmon was being overpowered, he growled, "Damn it! It seems I underestimated you my son. For now, I leave. But remember, a piece of me will always be inside you!" before disappearing Time Turner and Buff Biceps had just seen the end of the battle, and Time Turner asked, "S-Spike? Is that you?" As Spike turned to see the Bronze Tamers, he went back to his human form, proving that it was him, "Yeah, it's me... apparently that Digimon... he's... he's my father... I'm part Digimon, and I guess I just went into my Rookie form." Buff Biceps was confused yet amazed at the same time, "That's wicked Spike! What are you going to call your Rookie form?" Spike never thought of that, he'd been so wrapped up in the battle, he didn't even think of giving his Rookie form a name, "How about... Magidramon?" Time Turner smiled, "It's got a nice ring to it. For now, let's head back to Twilight and tell her about this." When Spike had returned to Twilight, a look of sorrow was in Twilight's eyes, "Spike... I'm sorry. I knew you were part Digimon since the Normal Rank Tournament, when I got the blood test results. I'm sorry I lied to you, but I wasn't sure how to tell you." Spike hugged his sister and said, "It's fine sis. It's not something easy to accept, but Grimmon is my father. Still, I hold no loyalty to a father who abandoned his only son for 18 years. My loyalty remains to Night Claw, and it always will." Time Turner cleared his throat, "Sorry to interrupt, but we've still got problems to deal with. Grimmon doesn't seem like the type who would give up on having Spike join him that easily. I have a feeling this isn't the last time we'll see him." Spike nodded, "Time Turner's right, Grimmon will return for me, and we'll have to be ready." Twilight smiled, "We will be. Spike, do you know if you can tap into your Rookie form?" Spike sighed, "I'm not sure, Grimmon activated it, and after the fight, I turned back to normal. But I will need to learn control over my Digimon form if I want to beat Grimmon. I'll start training as soon as possible." Twilight nodded, "Good idea Spike. And remember, human or not, you're still my brother, and you always will be." //-------------------------------------------------------// Researching Magidramon //-------------------------------------------------------// Researching Magidramon Spike sighed. Ever since he fought Grimmon in Limit Valley, his Navi-Digimon Gatomon had forced him to stay in Tamer Home so she could run some tests. "Gatomon, how much longer do you need to do these tests? So far they haven't told you anything useful." Gatomon rolled her eyes as she turned around from her chair, "Well, that's about to change. It seems Grimmon's data wasn't the only data used in your makeup. He also used data from an ancient virus called NRG. That's why you were having such a bad cold when he attacked the city. The virus that he used to destroy the city caused a bad reaction to the virus in your body." Spike raised an eyebrow, "So I've got virus data in my body? Is there a program we can upload to get rid of it?" Gatomon shook her head, "Well, technically, we could easily get rid of it, but it seems that the NRG Virus is what lets you turn into Magidramon. I theorize that Grimmon knew this and made it so you couldn't change when he was attacking. But there's a few more tests I need to run. The Digi-Egg of Love you got from the Union Quest in Limit Valley, if Magidramon can use it to Armor Digivolve, I'd like to set it up to your Digivice so you can use it any time you need to." Spike nodded, "That sounds like a good idea. Armor Digivolving could help out if Magidramon isn't strong enough." Gatomon put an armband on Spike and connected it to the PC, and connected Spike's Digivice to the PC. It beeped for a few moments and Gatomon typed in some data. "Good, it looks like the Digi-Egg of Love is compatible with Magidramon. What should we call the armor form?" "Well, it would be easier to name it if we knew what it looked like, don't you think?" Gatomon laughed nervously, "Well.... yeah. Right now the NRG Virus is in a stasis mode, so we can't activate it right now. But maybe... Hmm..." Gatomon went back to typing on the PC and said, "Well, I can energize the Digi-Egg of Love to bypass the NRG Virus's stasis mode, but you'll only be able to stay in the armor form for a little while." Spike nodded, "Do it." Gatomon crossed some wires between Spike and his Digivice and told him, "You still need to say Digi-Armor Energize in order to activate it." Spike nodded, standing up and holding his Digivice in his hand, "Digi-Armor Energize!" The Digi-Egg of Love showed up on his Digivice's screen and he started to transform. He decided today would be a good day to test his skill at the Digi-Coliseum with the Bronze Tamer test. He went to the Union Room to go to Twilight and ask her, "Hey sis, I'm thinking of taking the Bronze Tamer test. I can skip Magidramon and jump straight to Guerrilladramon. Do you have any tips?" Twilight smiled at her little brother and said, "Well, I could give you tips, but that'd be too easy. You have to pass the test on your own. I can tell you a bit about it though. The test consists of three parts, a written test, an obstacle course, and a battle. You have to pass all three parts in order to become a Bronze Tamer, well, technically 2 out of 3 will get you a passing grade, but I expect flying colors from you." Spike gulped, when it came to exams, Twilight was an all or nothing kind of person, "I'll try my best sis." before heading back to Dark Terminal to go to the Digi-Coliseum. When he arrived, he went up to Leomon and said, "Hey Leomon, I'm here to take the Bronze Rank Exam." Leomon smiled, "Good luck then, I'll sign you up, then go to the Night Claw waiting room to take the written exam." Spike handed over the entry fee of 800 bits, and then headed in. When he arrived, Chrysalimon was waiting for him and said, "Welcome to the written test Spike. The test contains 50 questions, and you have one hour to complete it." before laying a stack of papers on a table. Spike sat down and started on the test. The first questions were easy, but as the test continued, the questions got harder and harder. He thought to himself, "What is the alternate X-Antibody evolution of MegaSeadramon… MetalSeadramon is the normal evolution... GigaSeadramon! That's right!" before writing it down on the paper. After the timer went off, Chrysalimon told Spike, "Time's up Spike, pencil down." After Spike put his pencil down, Chrysalimon took the papers and put them in a machine. The machine graded his test and when it gave the results, Chrysalimon said, "Good job, you passed with a 95%." Spike smiled, "So, next up is the obstacle course, is it for me or my Digimon?" Chrysalimon explained, "It's for both of you. You and one of your Digimon must both clear the obstacle course together in five minutes or less. What Digimon would you like to use?" Spike thought about what Digimon he should use for the obstacle course. He decided to go with Antylamon and let her out of her Digi-Card, "Antylamon, we're running the Bronze Obstacle Course together. Are you ready?" Antylamon nodded, "Ready when you are." before following Spike to the obstacle course. There were lots of different obstacles, and she was slightly worried if she could do this in less than five minutes. Spike and Antylamon stood side by side before the starter's pistol went off and started running. First was swinging sandbags, trying to knock them off a balance beam into water. Antylamon was able to dodge them with ease, but Spike got knocked into the water, before swimming back and doing it a second time. The second obstacle was having to crawl underneath a fishing net without getting stuck. Spike was able to crawl through, thanks to his small size, but Antylamon's fur got caught in the netting, and she needed Spike's help to get out. The third and final obstacle was a rock wall. But by the time they were halfway up the wall, a buzzer went off, meaning the five minutes had gone by. Antylamon and Spike jumped down from the rock wall, and Spike sighed, "Damn... I guess we both have room to improve." Antylamon kissed Spike's cheek, "Don't worry master, we still have the battle left, I'm sure with me, WaruSeadramon, and your Guerrilladramon form, I'm sure we can win. Spike smiled and kissed Antylamon's cheek back, "Thanks, you're right." before heading back to the waiting room to meet the ref and tell him he was ready. As he walked into the Battle Arena, Spike saw Lyra Heartstrings, the exam supervisor, who said, "Well, looks like you've made it this far Spike. I have to admit, this is my first day as an exam supervisor, I just recently became a Bronze Tamer, so let's go!" Spike nodded, "Right! Let's do this!" before turning straight into Guerrilladramon, and sending out Antylamon and WaruSeadramon. Lyra was shocked to see Spike turn into a Digimon and said, "I thought all that gossip about you was just... well gossip. Seems I was wrong, Shadramon, Magnamon, let's do this!" before sending out her two Armor Digivolved Digimon. As the fight started, Magnamon sent a burst of light at WaruSeadramon, who countered by shooting lightning from his horn. Antylamon used her Treasure Axes to out speed Shadramon and get behind him before blasting an orb of dark energy at him, KOing him instantly, after his confusion from trying to keep up with Antylamon weakened him. Spike jumped up in the air and activated his jet pack before yelling, "Ballistic Blowout!" Magnamon looked up at Spike saying, "He wouldn't dare fire his Ballistic Blowout from that angle, he'll destroy the Coliseum if he does!" As Spike's weapons started to heat up, Magnamon cringed, "No, Spike!" All of a sudden, Spike disappeared, and reappeared right in front of Magnamon, and as his eyes widened, he said, "Oh... crap baskets!" before being hit head on with the point blank Ballistic Blowout, and being knocked out. Lyra's eyes widened as well from the recoil of Spike's attack, and as she saw her Magnamon turn back into a Veemon, she stuttered before saying "Holy shit! I didn't know your Digimon form was that powerful! Still, you won fair and square. You and I are both Bronze Tamers. Talk to Leomon for your reward and license upgrade." Spike headed back to Leomon who congratulated him, "Good job Spike, I just finished upgrading your license, and here's your reward, three Battle Chips, Life Aura, Mirror Shield, and Pressure Cannon." before handing Spike three SD card like chips. Spike smiled, these were rare Battle Chips, so he could get even more skilled with these. "Thanks Leomon, I'll see you around." before heading back to tell Twilight, even though he knew she'd be sour about him failing the obstacle course. "Sis, I did it, I passed!" Twilight smiled, "Good job Spike, I'm proud of you. Now that you're a Bronze Tamer, you have access to the Chip Shops here in the City and at Dark Area East. Keep up the good work." Spike nodded before heading back home for the night. //-------------------------------------------------------// Into the Sunken Tunnel //-------------------------------------------------------// Into the Sunken Tunnel Spike made his way to the Dark Gate to head out to Sunken Tunnel when the degenerated guards stopped him, "You there! Come over here." When they saw it was Spike, the guard apologized, "Oh, it's you Spike. Sorry about that, I thought you were going to force your way through like those other three." The other guard nodded, "It's dangerous out there, I hope those three kids are alright. If the virus impacted the Digi-Areas, there's no telling how hostile the Digimon might be. Spike, I don't know where those three are heading, but please, make sure they get home safe." Spike sighed to himself, he knew that it was Thorax, Iron Will, and Starlight Glimmer, who else could it be? But he nodded and told the guards, "Don't worry, I will." He stepped on to the warp pad to Dark Terminal and saw the others getting on the warp pad to outside. When they were gone, Spike ran over to the tamer who was trying to stop them and asked, "Do you know where those three were heading?" The tamer nodded, "They said they were going to Sunken Tunnel. Chief Twilight told me that you were going out there, so I can't argue, but I'm going to report those three to Chief Twilight." Spike nodded, "Thanks." he sighed and got on the warp pad and selected Sunken Tunnel as his destination. When he got there, he soon saw Starlight Glimmer and walked over to her, "Starlight! What the hell do you think you're doing, disobeying orders like that!?" Starlight jumped when she heard Spike, "O-Oh... it's just you Spike... I-I'm sorry, I just wanted to help, but me and the boys got separated, and now I don't know what to do." Spike sighed, "I know, but you of all people should know orders are orders. Head back home, don't argue, just do it." Starlight Glimmer nodded, "You're right, I'll only be a liability here. I'll head home now." before going back to the warp panel back to the city. Spike continued his way into the tunnel, but had a problem with a large Digimon called Chionmon (https://i.imgur.com/QPW5LND.jpg), a crab-like Digimon with razor sharp claws and an igloo shell it could pull itself into if the need arose. Normally you'd see Chionmon in cold places, similar to how you wouldn't find a polar bear in Saddle Arabia in the real world. What could a Digimon like this be doing in the Sunken Tunnel? And more importantly, how was he supposed to get past it? If Candlemon and Lopmon were still in their Ultimate forms, it wouldn't be too much trouble, but that wasn't the case. He gulped and knocked on the igloo shell of the Digmon, causing it to come out and yawn, "Huh...? Why is it so hot here?" Spike gulped and told Chionmon, "Sorry to disturb your nap, but I think you're in the wrong habitat. You're in Sunken Tunnel. Do you know how you got here?" The Chionmon's eyes widened when he was told he was in Sunken Tunnel, "Sunken Tunnel!? No wonder it's so hot here! I can't deal with this. Thanks for letting me know though. Here, have my scan data. If you ever need help, I'd be happy to pay you back for letting me know where I am. Well, I'd better get out of here before my shell starts melting." before heading off. As the Chionmon left, Spike sighed in relief until his Digivice beeped, alerting him that he had collected enough of Chionmon's data to Digiconvert the data into a physical Digimon. "That went better than I thought it would. Maybe the virus that attacked the city did this, I can't think of any other explanation." He continued through the tunnels, hoping he wouldn't run into more out of place Digimon. As Spike walked through the tunnels, he heard growling and saw Iron Will and Thorax up against a Raremon. The Raremon growled, "Are you mocking me? Did you really think you could beat me with such weak skills?" Thorax gulped, "Iron Will, we don't stand a chance! We should just apologize and beg for mercy." Spike snickered, "A Night Claw never gives up, and you two are no different. But, considering your Digimon are out of commission, I'll do this." Thorax smiled when he saw Spike, "Spike! Thank god you're here! Help us out!" Spike stepped up to the Raremon and said, "You want my friends, you have to go through me." The Raremon roared, "Stop mocking me!" and attacked During the battle, Dracmon was jumping from side to side as he avoided Raremon's attacks, and suddenly, he started glowing, "Dracmon Digivolve to... Sangloupmon!" Spike's eyes widened, "Sweet! Dracmon digivolved into Sangloupmon, a Champion Digimon! Now, Sangloupmon, Sticker Blade!" Sangloupmon fired thousands of tiny blades that struck the Raremon, knocking it out. After the battle, Raremon shook his 'head' and said, "Huh? What's going on? Was I... fighting you? No, that can't be right. I must have caught a virus... sorry for any trouble I caused in my sleep. I'm out." before leaving the tamers. Thorax sighed in relief, "Thanks Spike, we-" Iron Will growled, interrupting Thorax, "We could have won on our own Spike! Don't butt in!" before running off to the warp panel back to the terminal. Thorax sighed, "Sorry about him Spike, he never knows when to swallow his pride. But I'm sure he's really thankful. It's embarrassing, but we'll just have to suck it up and apologize to Chief Twilight." he followed Iron Will back to the Terminal, and Spike went after them. When Spike got back to the Union Room, ChaosGallantmon was furious when he was told that the three Tamers disobeyed orders. Twilight calmed him down, "ChaosGallantmon, don't you think you're being a bit too harsh? I think they learned their lesson. However, ChaosGallantmon's anger is not without good reason. As punishment, you three will be doing Spike's, Garble's, and Gabby's server work, as well as your own." Iron Will groaned, "Man, not again! I hate server checks!" Thorax scoffed, "Then maybe you'd rather go back to Sunken Tunnel, on your own, without Spike or any of us to help you!" Iron Will's eyes widened, "N-No way man! I'm not going through that again!" Starlight Glimmer crossed her arms, "You think you had it bad? At least you two knew where each other were! Those two idiots completely ditched me!" The group laughed before the three tamers went back to the server work. Twilight sighed when they left to go back to work, "Spike, thank you for making sure those three got home safely. For now, we've confirmed that the Digi-Areas have also been impacted by the virus. Right now, there's not much else we can do, but if we do need you, Piedmon will let you know in Dark Center. Dismissed!"
