Chaos is not always a good thing

More than meets the eye

Previous Chapter

The castle had been eerily quiet the whole day, the chaos around the home had settled to a less chaotic state. The only sound in the castle came from the lord of chaos’s bedroom; the sounds of something wet and gooey being slapped into something else echoed though the room, being barely audible. The sun goddess and moon goddess sat looking at each other with hate filled eyes and a slight snarl as the two princesses stared each other down, not caring about the tiny cage they found themselves in.

“It’s pointless Luna, give up.” Celestia said firmly as she moved something along the ground in front of her.
“We shall never give up, dear sister thou should know that.” Luna said, her voice full of hate, moving another object across the ground. The items themselves made wet slapping sounds with each movement.
“Foalish Luna, you will never learn.” Celestia said, moving another object, making Luna snort a little.
“Tis you that is foalish!” Luna yelled angrily, slamming down an object, splashing herself and her sister with a light brown substance, making her give a loud “Huzzah!” Celestia just gave her an annoyed look as she wiped some of the substance off before moving another object. Each movement was like thunder. Each move got each one closer and closer to their goal. Each strike of their hooves made the world around them stand still waiting for the next move to be made. The two princesses were in what possibly might be the most intense moment in their lives; they stared at each other with a glare that was laced with the fires of war. Celestia smiled as she grabbed her biggest item on the ground and moved it in front of Luna.

“Checkmate!” She yelled happily as she waved her hoofs in the air, not giving a care in the world. Victory belonged to the sun once again. Luna let out a cry of despair as she stood up, pointing her hoof at her sister, shaking it furiously at her.
“THOU HAS CHEATED!” her voice boomed as her hoof shook violently at her sister.
“No I didn't!” Celestia yelled back angrily glaring down at her younger sister.
“I won fair and square!” she said standing up, towering over her little sister. Luna angrily kicked the home-made game board away, smearing the spaghetti knights she made with the leftover food.
“Liar!” Luna yelled, crossing her arms as she pouted. Celestia was about to say something but a high pitched shriek stopped her from doing so.

"…..Ahhhhhhhhhh!……"

The ghastly sound filled the room, deafening the chaos around the castle.
“Luna did you hear that?” Celestia asked, looking around being careful not to step on what was left of their game, not wanting to show the fear in her voice.
“Tis a ghost!” Luna yelled as she quickly hid under her sister’s larger form, shaking lightly as she clung to her legs. Celestia rolled her eyes, a thousand years and she is still such a foal.
“It’s not a ghost!” Celestia yelled as she rubbed her head, almost falling to the ground as Luna stood up, yelping as she felt Luna’s horn poke her underbelly.
“How do you know!? Discord could have sent it to torment us!” Luna said, whimpering a little, looking around scared as if she was a 3 year old filly. Celestia was about to say something but another shriek filled the room, making the two princesses cling quickly onto each other, shaking in fear.
“OK maybe your right.” Celestia said shaking as she held her sister.
“The cosmos only know what he is up to.” Luna said looking out the nearby window, her eyes widening as she swore she saw something zoom past it.
………………………………………

“Ahhhhh!” a girly scream was heard throughout the chaotic kingdom as a blur sped through the sky.
“I used to wonder what being a French maid dragon could be! Until being in a dress was shared with me! ~” Discord’s voice echoed through the whole town as he sang his off-tune song.
“Quiet! I only did that one time! It wasn't my fault! ” Spike yelled angrily, as he somehow had clung to Discords head, much like a scared angry cat.
“Big cups of chocolate milk, tons of chaos!~” he yelled again, laughing as he did, a few windows cracked as his voice reached them, he pouted a little.
“Everyone’s a critic.” He said, pouting a little as he cleared his throat. Discord did a flip in midair, making Spike scream again as he clung harder to Discord’s head, making him flinch a little at the sharp claws digging into his skin.
“Oh will you stop it already!?” Discord yelled angrily as the small dragon continued his clinging ways.
“How are you this fast!?” Spike yelled, holding firmly onto Discord’s head, using the mismatched horns as handles.
“I don’t know, I just am.” Discord said with a grin, a hint of pride in his voice.
“Oh, that reminds me, where are we going?” Discord asked as he zoomed through the sky happily, how he enjoyed flying, though he could do without the passenger.

“The library!” Spike screamed as he held on for dear life as they went through a cloud.
“Wait really? Oops.” Discord said with a chuckle as he suddenly made a sharp turn, nearly throwing Spike off of him. After Spike got back to his position on top of Discord’s head he glared down at the spirit, as tempting as it would be to kick him, Spike knew that would be the end for him.
“What do you mean oops!?” Spike yelled, still trying to grasp the fact that Discord could reach speeds he thought only Rainbow Dash could.
“I thought she was in Canterlot.” Discord said dully as he flew through the air, Spike raised his hand to say something but Discord came to a sudden stop. Spike yelled as he was flung off of the spirit’s head. Discord’s lion hand shot out and caught Spike before he could get too far away from him. Spike was shivering like a wet cat, he even felt like he wet himself as Discord gently petted him much like someone would pet a wet cat…..very carefully.
“Easy there, easy there.” Discord said pulling out a piece of candy from out of thin air and handing it to Spike. The small drake took it, shaking as he did and slowly started nibbling at it. Suddenly Spike felt Discord move; he looked up and saw him putting on a Viking helmet. He didn't know why but that terrified him to his very core, enough so that he debated on jumping or not.
“What are you doing now!?” Spike yelled as he looked down seeing nothing but clouds, when had they come up so high? Spike thought to himself. Discord chuckled evilly as he placed Spike on his head again, the Viking helmet coming to life and pulling the small dragon down, holding him still.

“I only have one word to say to you, dragon boy.” Discord said with a grin.
“What’s that?” Spike asked nervously, the Viking helmet still holding him down but that didn't stop him from struggling.
“Geronimo!” Discord yelled gleefully as he gave a mighty high pitched Viking battle cry as he dashed downward. Spike screamed like a little filly as Discord started twirling downward. Spike continued to scream as he was presented with an excellent view of the ground they were very rapidly approaching, feeling like he would hit it very soon. Discord grinned as he got closer and closer to the ground, his blood pumping faster and faster, then suddenly and to Spike's dismay Discord closed his eyes.
“I don’t want it to end like this! I didn't even have my first kiss yet!” Spike yelled as he covered his eyes, his short life flashing before his closed eyes as he felt the wind whipping past him. Discord grinned as he opened his eyes again, noting that there was only a few feet between him and the ground, he opened his wings like a parachute and stopped just before hitting the ground, landing safely on it.

“We’re here~” Discord sang out loud as he held his lion paw out catching Spike just as the small dragon fell on it, frozen with fear.
“Hello? Are you alive?” Discord asked shaking the small dragon, no reaction. Discord frowned as he dropped the dragon into a small pool he had summoned, within seconds Spike resurfaced coughing.
“That...was....awesome!” Spike yelled happily, catching his breath, coughing a bit as he did so; Discord chuckled at the small dragon that had begun to pump his little arms up and down in the air happily. Discord clicked his fingers, making the small pool vanish, leaving a very wet spike behind.
“Let’s go again! Let’s go again!” Spike chanted as he hopped up and down eagerly, Discord blinked for a few seconds before laughing.
“Oh you are priceless!” Discord laughed, remembering why he liked kids. Spike looked himself over, noting how wet he was, he got down on all fours and shook his body like a cat, sending water everywhere.
“You just had to ruin the moment didn't you?” Discord asked annoyed, Spike looked up and chuckled nervously as a wet Discord stood in front of him, glaring down at the small dragon.
“Oops, sorry.” Spike said shyly, Discord sighed as he pulled out a towel from nowhere and began to dry himself off.
“So never had your first kiss?” Discord asked with a sly grin as he cleaned his ear, Spike pouted angrily at him.
“Shut up! I said it in a moment of panic!” Spiked yelled angrily. Discord chuckled as he continued to dry himself off, starting at his neck then slowly moving to his rump, making it make loud squeaky noises as he toweled off.
“Whatever.” Discord said as he tossed the damp towel away, making Spike thankful he did not have to take care of the laundry again.

“So we're here.” Discord said as he turned to look at the library. Spike just looked a bit disappointed that he wasn't going to get his ride. Discord noticed this and sighed.
“Look I’ll let you ride me another time OK.” He said a bit annoyed. Spike eyes lit up as he looked up at Discord.
“Really?!” Spike asked happily, his eyes sparkling a little. Discord looked down at him, raising his eyebrows a little.
“Yes, heck I’ll let you ride me as much as you want, after we finish what we came here to do.” Discord said a bit annoyed as he quickly noticed how….wrong his sentence sounded, but before he could say anything to fix it, Spike’s expression quickly went from excited to a horrified one.
“Crap! Twilight!” Spike yelled as he dashed past Discord and headed for the door.
“Hey watch your mouth Mr.!” Discord scolded the young dragon as the drake dashed inside, Discord sighed as he walked after him, entering the place in a way he hadn't since this morning, he didn't like it, it felt...normal. The moment he entered he knew something was wrong. The library was dark; books were scattered left and right, some on the table, some on the floor. An entire bookcase was lying on the ground. This was the exact opposite of what he was expecting from that little egghead, this was something he would have thought to see in his room when he threw a tantrum.

He was expecting books organized on the shelf and he could picture her sitting down drinking tea and reading. But not this, this was chaos. He looked around some more, wondering where the little egghead was, he grinned as he could not wait to see her face when she saw him in her home. After all, this was her personal dojo and he was invading it and that made him chuckle. His eagerness only grew with his curiosity as he slithered around the home. He would normally take the books he disliked so much and would toss them around, maybe rearrange them, but the way the library was, he didn't need too. In fact, it would be more chaotic if he started cleaning up; he quickly put that thought out of his head. After taking a few more moments of looking around he noticed that no pony was on the bottom floor, to be honest to him it looked like no living thing has been here for a while, with all the dust around.
“Where in the name of chaos are you---
“TWILIGHT!” Spike’s voice echoed through the house. Discord looked up in the direction of the stairs, his fur standing on end as he quickly slithered up them, he knew that scream it was the sound of a scared child and he HATED that sound, it always sent shivers down his spine. He got to the top of the stairs quickly and looked around, again more things...out of place. More books on the ground, a smashed vase, a candle that had melted on the wooden floor and picture frames shattered on the ground of what he assumed were family since he had never seen any of them before.

The sounds of shuffling got his attention, he looked to his right and saw a door that was cracked open just a little bit, he quickly walked to it and pushed it open. Spike was leaning over an object covered in what Discord assumed was a blanket; sniffling a little, the small dragon was shaking it lightly. Discord pushed the door open a little more, making it creak. Spike looked up at the sound and saw Discord standing there.
“Help!” Spike yelled, gently shaking the figure, his eyes stained with tears as he looked to Discord, his eyes telling him that the small drake was desperate. Discord looked at the figure and his face went a bit pale, lying on her side was Twilight Sparkle, partially wrapped in a blanket and not moving at all. He quickly slithered up to her and noticed she was wet, she had been sweating so much that the blanket she was in was soaked with sweat, heck the floor itself was damp. But the fact that she was as still as a grave made him panic a little. He shook his head a little and quickly kneeled down next to her.
“What happened?” Discord asked firmly as he placed a hand on her and immediately pulling it back, she was burning up. Spike looked at Discord, the look in the spirit’s eyes made him panic more.
“What happened!?” Discord asked again, this time a bit louder, his mind needing answers as he grabbed the blanket and yanked it off of her making her groan a bit, strangely enough that relaxed him a bit. He figured it was a good sign, she was still among the living at least, but in her condition it looked like that could change at any moment.
“She got sick!” Spike yelled back angrily, his anger from before returning as his eyes turned into slits. Discord groaned as he looked at the small drake.

“I can see that you idiot! I’m asking how!” Discord yelled back angrily as he placed his eagle hand on her, she was burning up, she was so hot to the touch he swore he could cook an egg on her head, at that moment something dawned on him, he was being 100% serious, or he would of laughed at that little joke about cracking an egg on the egghead.
“Because of you!” Spike hissed angrily, making the spirit look up at him. Discord quickly noticed the small drake’s slit eyes, but at that moment he could give a flying cupcake.
“What did I do?!” Discord asked annoyed, he knew he never put a paw on any of them, except Rainbow Dash but then again he was still right, the only thing to touch her was his lips. He paused a moment thinking how....inappropriate that sounded in his mind.
“You made her sick!” Spike yelled, snapping Discord out of his thoughts. Spike’s anger was back in full strength and Discord could see it, in fact he knew the only reason the dragon had not yet attacked him again was simply because he was too close to Twilight. Another flying cupcake was given as Discord growled at the dragon.

“I did no such thing!” Discord yelled, offended by his remarks, He was getting tired of this.
“Yes you did!” Spike hissed back at him, not backing down.
“I am seriously going to have to start a damn school! And lesson bucking one is: “Discord Does Not Turn Ponies into Stone that includes hurting them!” Discord yelled angrily at the small dragon, making him back off a bit. Spike was worried at how angry Discord looked at the moment.
“You may not have made her sick directly but you did this to her!” Spike said, still growling at him but clearly more afraid of him. Discord just looked at him, obviously confused.
“What in chaos’ name are you talking about?” Discord asked, blinking a bit as he rubbed his head a bit.
“She wanted you gone, we all did! And she wouldn't stop looking for an answer, no matter what.” Spike said, suddenly getting quiet; Discord noticed he was shaking slightly. He sighed as he looked on silently.
“She read book after book after book, day and night, she barely ate or drank anything, and she didn't even sleep!” Spike said as he started to cry slightly, Discord shifted nervously on his feet as the dragon continued.
“I begged her to stop and rest, but she wouldn't listen, she wanted to stop you, every day she got weaker and weaker till she couldn't even stand up anymore and eventually she passed out.” Spike said crying, now his fists shaking. This scene looked very familiar to Discord, making him slightly nervous.

“I thought she might finally rest, but she didn't, after she only got about 3 weeks of rest she woke up one night and continued reading, I tried to take the books away but she just yelled at me.” Spike said covering his eyes, crying into his hands.
“After she spent hours of reading she passed out again but this time she slept for a few days, I was relieved and for a moment I thought that she could finally get some rest, but one night she snuck out of the library.” He said, tears still rolling down his face, this got Discord's attention: he had never known Twilight to sneak out. Granted, he only knew her for roughly 20 minutes but she still didn't seem like the type to sneak out like that, he glanced at the egghead wondering what else he was wrong about.
“She came back, I wanted to yell at her for scaring me like that but she looked so happy.” Spike said, removing his hands from his face.
“She said “Spike! Spike! I finally found it!” I asked what she had found; she said she found a way to stop you.” Spike said quietly, his crying dying down, Discord perked up at this; that fact got his full attention, his eyes focusing on the small dragon.
“She said you were right about there being an area of the library she wasn't allowed in.” Spike said, sniffing a little. Discord’s eyes shot open as he quickly ran up to Spike.

“Do not tell me she was dumb---no, not dumb, an absolute imbecile to trifle with Black Magic!” Discord practically yelled, hoping the young mare was not that stupid.
“Why would that matter?” Spike asked, looking at him a bit nervous at the lack of personal space.
“Do you have any idea of how dangerous black magic is?” Discord asked in the most serious tone Spike had never heard him talk in, Spike simply nodded no.
“I am the god of chaos, heck I’m chaos incarnate, and even I don’t dare to play with black magic, that should tell you how dangerous it is.” Discord said firmly, Spike gasped finally getting it, he looked at Twilight intensely before looking up at Discord.
“No, she didn't, she would never do that...” Spike said firmly, Discord just stared at him.
“Are you sure?” Discord asked firmly, his eyes unwavering as if trying to read the dragon to his very core.
“Yes, she would never do that!” Spike said with no hesitation. Discord stared intensely at the small dragon and, after a few moments of silence, he sighed and backed off again.

“Well, what did she find anyway?” Discord asked, still wanting to know about what solution she found for him. A part of him a little worried about what she may have found, a part of his mind started to wonder. What kind of book did she find in the forbidden section of the library? A spell that could kill something like him? Or another spell that could seal him up again, this time for good?
“Just a few books, I think those two are history books and the last one is an old journal.” Spike said, breaking Discord out of his thoughts, pointing to the night stand, Discord looked over and noticed a small stack of books. He clicked his fingers, making the book hover to him. Spike was right, one of them was a history book, a very old one, named “The Dark Times”. The next one was another very old book, this one was about the Elements of Harmony and their wielders, “Protectors of Equestria” was the name of this book. Discord looked at the journal next; it was by far the oldest of them, its once light blue cover now ashy blue, the white stars faded to muddy grey. Yes, this book had been though a lot, Discord couldn't help but think he had seen this book before. The thing that stood out the most was the symbol in the middle of the book, a symbol of a crescent moon and a swirling star in the middle of it. Discord reached out for it and gave a warm smile as he opened the book, only to confirm his suspicions.
“Ah, Star Swirl the Bearded, I was wondering where this had gone.” Discord said as he continued to flip through it.
“You know—knew him?” Spike asked, looking at him with confusion.
“Knew him? He was my teacher! He was the only pony to see on me more than what you see; he showed me everything I know about magic.” Discord said, his smile suddenly fading as if remembering something he didn't want to. Spike looked at him for a bit before rolling his eyes.

“You’re lying.” Spike said flatly, Discord looked up at the small dragon and flipped though the journal and held it out for the dragon to read. Spike leaned in to read the journal, noting the smudges all over it.

“Entry number #2345”
“Discord has been showing improvement, in fact a lot of improvement. This young Draconequus will replace me at this rate; his ability to use magic is on a whole different level. His magic surpasses Unicorn and even Alicorn magic. It would worry me if he wasn't so playful, prank here and there, always bringing a smile to everypony's face, it’s no wonder he's the holder of the Element of Laughter. Celestia wasn't too happy about that but she is still very young and naive, she will learn in time. Luna has been stopping by from time to time, Discord’s always happy to see her. I personally think she’s smiting over him, ah young love. It brings a smile to my face to see such a young mind eager to learn, always eager to learn something new any chance he got his hands into it. Who knew this strange creature would turn out to be such an outstanding student, and so faithful to boot. I am proud to be his teacher.
Star Swirl the Bearded”

Spike stood there, his mouth hanging open, speechless after reading what he had just read.
“...that explains everything.” Spike said quietly after a few moments of silence. Discord closed the journal looking at the small dragon.
“What do you mean?” Discord asked, placing the journal on the floor, stacking the other books on top of it.
“I thought after reading the books she would calm down, but she only got worse.” Spike said looking over at the sick Twilight. He felt a painful twinge in his heart as he looked at her.
“She got more...panicky; she started talking to herself, fighting with herself.” Spike said shivering a little. Discord was guessing that this was not the first time her sanity was questioned.
“She...had a little breakdown after reading the books, said something about this being all fake, it’s a trap by someone and started laughing and ran off again.” Spike said looking at the ground in shame.
“I failed her as an assistant and I know I will be replaced when this is all over but I don’t care.” Spike said, firmly looking up at Discord.

“I just want her to be OK, so do something and fix this!” Spike yelled again, Discord rolled his eyes as he looked down at Twilight, her breathing was shallow.
“Well, it would help if I knew what was going on; this is not simply bad mental health here.” Discord said as he got down and tried to turn her, suddenly he felt something cold on the other side of her flank that got his attention. He flipped her a bit roughly, earning a cold glare from Spike. Right there on her flank, slithering slightly downward, was a bandage, but what Discord found interesting was the fact this area was cold, not hot like the rest of her body. He reached down and tugged on the bandage, Twilight gasped in pain.
“You’re hurting her!” Spike yelled in a panic and rushed to his caretaker’s side, Discord looked up and shushed him as he continued to remove the bandage. Discord felt his stomach turn as the bandage revealed grey skin.
“Do you have any disinfectant?” Discord asked as he continued to remove the bandage.
“No, we don’t.” Spike said, slightly in a panic himself.
“Do you have any strong liquor?” Discord asked as the bandage finally came off.
“No, Twilight doesn't drink.” Spike said proudly, Discord rolled his eyes.
“Oh please we both know Twilight has had more than her share of hair of dog.” Discord said as he examined the wound, it was a deep gash, the surrounding skin was grey while the middle was black, it didn't take a genius to figure out it was infected.

“Just use your magic on her!” Spike said getting scared by Discord’s reaction to the cut. Discord remained silent, his eyes glazing over, slightly frowning as he did.
“I said use your----
“It would kill her” Discord said coldly, finally looking up at him.
“What, how do you know!?” Spike asked angrily. Discord stood up and glared down angrily.
“My magic is made to create chaos and to destroy; healing does not factor into that, at least not anything useful in the long run.” He said hissing lightly, making Spike gasp lightly.
“How do you know?” Spike said still standing his ground.
“Because how can something that is made to create chaos do anything good?” Discord said a bit bitterly before the sound of coughing got his attention. Twilight had started a fit of violent coughing. Discord quickly got to her side along with Spike. Discord’s lion paw began to glow slightly and he placed it on her neck, she gasped a little as her coughing died down.
“I thought you said---
“I said it wouldn't be anything useful, right now I’m just soothing her throat something you can do with tea or a cup of water.” Discord said firmly as the coughing turned into quite wheezing.
“Why haven’t you taken her to the hospital? She needs medical attention.” Discord said looking up at the dragon as he removed his paw from her neck.

“There's no more room.” Spike said quietly, Discord stopped what he was doing and stared at him, not knowing what to think. He stared for a moment or two before breaking the silence.
“What?” Discord asked, not believing the small dragon.
“There's no more room, the hospital is filled up.” Spike repeated, Discord continued to look at him in shock.
“How is that even---
“Shining? Is that you?” A weak voice asked, Spike and Discord looked down at Twilight, her eyes finally open.

“Shining, why are you wearing a Discord suit?” She asked with a weak smile, Discord looked down at her, gulping a little. The look in her eyes told him she wasn't all there. It was further confirmed as she began to nuzzle his paw.
“My dear, it’s me, Discord, not this Shining you speak of.” Discord said quietly, not believing he just used such a soothing voice on her. Twilight's smile turned into a frown as she glared at him.
“Discord, why are you pretending to be my big brother? Shoo you I need to get back to the Princess, I’m late with my studies and I don’t want to be on the moon.” Twilight said trying to roll onto her feet, only to fail. At any other moment Discord would be laughing his flank off, but seeing the proud student so weak and so out of it sent chills down his spine.
“Easy, Miss Sparkle, you’re weak.” Discord said with a chuckle as he placed his paw on her back slightly but to his and Spike’s surprise she rolled again, this time standing on her feet, she stood there, shaking a little, her legs obviously ready to give out.
“You’re weak and a cheater!” She yelled at him with a pout. Discord raised an eyebrow at that comment.

“Cheater? How am I a cheater?” Discord asked, though this situation was anything but funny, her mind was clearly scrambled, he mentally kicked himself for that. He cursed himself, another egg pun and he didn't act on it!
“You’re cheating, telling me where the books were just to try and turn me against the princess; well it’s not going to work!” She yelled again as she tried to walk a bit wobbly, she looked up at him and smiled. That creeped Discord out to no end, her mind was a puzzle and someone was moving the pieces out of order, her eyes told him she was in a bit of a daze.
“You....you changed those books! There's no way Celestia would ever lie to me!” Twilight yelled again, her whole body shaking a bit more noticeably. Discord just stared at her, trying to read her thoughts.
“You read the books, didn't you? Of course you did, what am I saying?” Discord said, rolling his eyes with a slight grin. He should have known what would have happened when he mentioned a whole section of books that where off limits to everypony, it was like telling a sugar junkie that there was free soda being given out.
“Liar! I won’t believe any of it is true!” She yelled again this time bursting into tears tearing Discord out of his thoughts.

“Well sorry to break it to you sweetheart, but they are as true as the sun is yellow...well was.” Discord said firmly but with a smile. Twilight gave him a cold glare as her body shook more violently. Spike and Discord gasped as she suddenly threw up. After she threw up she stood shaking then looked up at them, her eyes glazed over and her face going pale.
“I...don't...feel...good.” She said as she fell to the ground with a hard thud.
“TWILIGHT!” Spike yelled as he ran next to her only to have Discord pull her away from him, Spike looked up at him with tearful eyes, his heart breaking as the closest thing to a family was literally being snatched away from him.
“You said there’s no room in the hospital correct?” Discord asked firmly as he took another blanket from the bed, only then did he notice that the bed was soaked. He quickly wrapped Twilight up in it and picked her up. She was panting hard and he swore he felt her get hotter, he was short on time and he knew it.
“Yeah, why? What are you going to do to her!?” Spike said panicking as he ran to Discord holding the creature’s tail.
“Well, I’m about to show her some Kindness.” Discord said as he raised his eagle hand, before Spike could react, he snapped it and they were gone in a bright flash.

…......................

“Ahhhhh! You!” Fluttershy yelled as she dived under her table in fear, her tea cup breaking in the process as Discord appeared in a flash of light standing in the middle of her living room.
“Warn me the next time you’re going to do that!” Spike yelled, holding his head, trying to stop the world from spinning as he hopped off Discord’s tail.
“Quiet you, now let’s see.” Discord said scanning the room and spotting Fluttershy hiding under the table, shaking in fear.
“You! Fluttershy, she needs help!” Discord said as he used his tail to flip the table off of her, making it crash into the floor, making her scream in fear as she covered her eyes with her hoofs.
“Stop screaming, she really does need help now!” Discord hissed angrily as he tried to get her to pay attention, Fluttershy looked at him peeking out of her hoofs. For the 3rd time since he had meet her, she had put overwhelming fear in him by jetting up to him at speeds that rivaled and maybe even surpassed his and Rainbow Dash’s speed.

“What did you do to her!?” Fluttershy screamed so hard the house shook, making Discord freeze in his place.
“I...I didn’t...do...anything...” Discord whispered, not daring to make a move, her eyes flared with fire and she was practically snarling at him. He was sure Twilight being in his arms saved him once again from being attacked. He entertained the thought of tying Twilight to his neck but quickly pushed it aside as he saw tears starting to run down Fluttershy’s face.
“Don’t you dare to lie to me! How dare you hurt her!?” Fluttershy yelled again, tears running down her eyes but he could see the rage in them.
“I didn't think you were this evil, but this is too far Mr.!” She continued yelling as more and more tears continued to run down her eyes. Discord was still too scared to move, he was happy Twilight was in front of him as a meat shield, which might have been the only reason he was still among the living. He reached behind himself, ready to click his fingers ready to make his problem go away, that was until Spike stepped up.

“He didn't do anything, Fluttershy.” Spike said, standing between them, getting their attention.
“Wha...what?” Fluttershy asked backing off, her eyes wide with shock.
“He didn't do anything, as shocking as that is.” Spike said earning a glare from Discord. Spike then started to tell what had led up to Twilight being in this condition. Fluttershy stood still listening to Spike’s story as Discord continued to hold Twilight hating the fact his paw and some of his fur was now slightly damp. Spike went on about how he met Discord that day and how he flew for the first time on another dragon's back, that made Fluttershy smile a bit as Discord just scoffed at them.
As the story was drawing near its end, Twilight had begun shaking suddenly, making Fluttershy swap her attention to Twilight and Discord.
“Let me see her!” Fluttershy said as Spike finished his story. She swiftly flew over to them and put her hoof on her friend’s head.
“She’s burning up, but she’s shivering like she’s freezing.” Fluttershy said as she flew over to a nearby cabinet.
“Or having a seizure.” Discord said grimly, earning a cold glare from her; he blinked before looking down at the small dragon, who was clearly worried.

“You….. Should probably leave.” Discord said shifting away from the small dragon awkwardly.
“No!” Spike yelled as he walked up to him angrily, closing any gap between them.
“I will not leave her side, no matter what!” Spike hissed at him, Discord couldn't help but smile down at him.
“..I have to say I admire your dedication, I know dragons tend to be loyal toward others but you take it to a new level.” Discord said with a small smile as Fluttershy came back with something in her hoofs.
“Yes, that’s Spike for you, he's very loyal.” she said warmly as she placed the object into Twilight's mouth, at that moment Discord saw it was a thermometer, he always hated those things. Too hard and no taste to them what so ever unless of course you broke it. It only took a few seconds before it beeped; Fluttershy hummed a tune as she pulled it out, her eyes shot out in fear as she looked at it.
“We need to get her temperature down now!” She yelled as she flew into the kitchen at speeds that Discord was still having trouble believing.

“Why, what’s wrong?” Discord asked following her into the kitchen, Spike following right behind him.
“Her temperature is over 105! She’s going to die if it goes over 109!” she yelled as she frantically turned the knobs in the sink all the way up. She looked at him and one thing was sure, he had never seen her so scared before, in fact he had never seen her face go pale like that before not even after his best pranks.
“What!? What in chaos name happened to her!?” Discord yelled as he ran over to her, holding Twilight in his arms as he did.
“No time to explain! We need to get her temperature down now!” she yelled, grabbing a nearby bucket and started to fill it. Discord looked around and kicked the table away making more room.
“What are you doing?!” Fluttershy screamed as she heard the sound of her table hitting the wall, no doubt cracking said wall by doing so. She quickly looked back, only to see Discord summon a bathtub with a snap of his fingers.

“Like you said we need to hurry!” He said as he placed her into it, removing the blanket as he did. Fluttershy quickly passed him the bucket, he tossed the water down on Twilight, waiting to see what would happen, he started to panic as he saw she didn't react to the cold water. Fluttershy quickly went over to the fridge and started popping out ice into the bucket, he knew that would take too long. It would be quicker to start digging a hole than her popping out ice like that.
“That won’t be fast enough, she’d die before Fluttershy could get that bucket full.” he thought to himself, raising his hand ready to click it. He gave one last look at Spike wishing he wasn't in the room as the small drake looked on in fear, he groaned again as he thought why was he caring so much as he clicked his fingers. Twilight let out a scream as she was suddenly covered in ice kicking and screaming.
“Twilight!” Spike yelled as he tried to push his way past Discord, only to be pushed back.
“Let me help her!” Spiked yelled, trying to get past Discord again. Discord again and much to his annoyance had to push the small dragon back again, Twilight sat up and tried to get out of the tub but Discord pushed her back in, making her scream again as she started kicking again.

“Twilight! Let me help her!” Spike yelled as he again tried to push his way past Discord, that was the last straw.
“Would you just stop being a damn pest!?” Discord screamed angrily at him, Spike looked up at him in shock, he had never been yelled at like that, tears began to form in his eyes.
“Leave! You’re not helping her so just... I don’t know, go into the other room!” Discord yelled again, hissing a little, Spike looked down and ran out of the room, tears running down his eyes crying, loud enough to be heard as he left. Fluttershy looked at Discord coldly but nodded knowing it was for the best but still didn't like how he did it. Discord snorted at her as he continued to hold Twilight down. Discord usually liked hearing a pony scream in fear, but this was different, this was pain and he was physically causing it and that made his stomach turn….no, it made his very skin want to crawl off of him.
'Why would I care? Why should I! Why DO I CARE!?' Discord thought to himself angrily as the young mare continued to try to force herself out of the tub, but Discords paw kept that from happening.

'Why do I feel this way? It doesn't make any sense!' He thought as he felt something brush against him, he looked to his left and saw Fluttershy pour more water into the tub making Twilight kick and scream again.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry but I need to do this.” Fluttershy said in a soft calming voice, Discord glanced up at her and saw tears running down her face. Fluttershy's eyes were red and tears rolled down her face as she poured more water onto her friend. It didn’t take a genius to see that Fluttershy was in so much pain, probably more than Twilight was. Discord wondered if she regretted being the Element of Kindness. His thoughts were interrupted when he felt Twilight go limp making him panic as he quickly looked back down at her thinking he might of forced her head to hit the tub or dunked her head for too long.
“Please...stop.” Twilight said weakly as she opened her eyes and looked at up at him.
“Just please stop.... if you have any good in you just...end it.” She said weakly, Discord just stared down at her, silently watching her.

“Please...no more...i can't take it.” She begged as she started to cry, Discord winced at her words, she really thought he was torturing her.
“...kill ...me” she said quietly, not bothering to look up at him.
“What?” Discord asked, not sure if he heard her right.
“I said kill me....I can't take this anymore.” Twilight said as tears continued to run down her face. Fluttershy was about to say something but she only looked up at Discord and was shocked he had such a hurt look in his eyes, his ears pinned to his head as he looked at her.
“Why? It can't just be the water.” Discord said quietly as he ran his paw across her mane a bit in an attempt to calm her only for her to jerk away and sat up. He thought about how tired he was of that reaction, he always got it from mares even when he offered them a box of pineapples.
“You!” Twilight yelled angrily, tears still running down her eyes as she glared at him.
“Why do you have to be so...so...complicated!?” Twilight yelled again trying to kick him but failing.
“I thought you were evil! That you were so vile that no pony would ever like you! But…but!--” Twilight began to sob, not being able to finish her sentence.

“You read the whole journal, didn't you?” Discord asked firmly, looking down at her. Once again he thought why did he ask? Of course she did it was impossible for her to walk past a book and not read it.
“Yes! And …and how...how can you be...like...me?” Twilight asked, looking up at him still crying, Discord stayed silent. Fluttershy stayed silent, not knowing what to say as she watched the two.
“Answer me!” She yelled again, standing up suddenly.
“Twilight you need to relax! Please!” Fluttershy yelled as she tried to hold down her friend. Twilight quickly shoved her friend away making her fall on her rump.
“No! I need answers! Now! Now tell me you monster! What is the truth!?” Twilight yelled as she slammed his chest with her hoofs. Discord didn't grunt or yelp in pain, he only sighed as he placed his paw on her head.
“The truth is more painful than the lies you grew up with.” he said, coldly glaring at her. His paw began to glow a light purple, Twilight's eyes glazed over as she closed her eyes. Discord sighed as he slowly lowered her back into the tub, only then did he notice the ice was gone.

“What did you do to her?” Fluttershy asked a bit defiantly but fear was still clear in her voice as she trotted up to him. He tried not to stare at her rubbing her rump a bit obviously it stinging a bit from being thrown down rump first.
“Nothing, she just needed to relax.” Discord said coldly as he removed his hand from her head before looking at her.
“Well, get to work.” he said, the coldness never leaving his voice as he stood up, his back gave a small pop as he stood, he turned and began to walk away from the tub.
“Wait!” Fluttershy said as she wrapped her hoofs around his tail making him stop. He gave a small groan as he turned.
“What is it? I’m tired so I’m sure whatever it is it can---”
“I don’t have medicine here.” Fluttershy said cutting him off, forcing him to look down at her giving her a look like she just asked him to marry her.
“What?” Discord asked, obviously not believing her. He didn't think she was the kind of mare to make that kind of joke. In this current state even he found it in bad taste to do that.

“I...said...I don’t have...any medicine ...here.” Fluttershy said her voice getting more and quieter as she talked, slowly lowering her head not looking up at him anymore. Discord was thankful he had such good hearing.
“How in the name of chaos do you not have any medicine here!? You should have a damn pharmacy here for crying out loud!” Discord snapped at her angrily, making her flinch a little but still glaring up at him. He was starting to get sick of all the glaring he had been getting lately.
“I didn't have a choice!” She yelled back angrily but quickly covered her mouth. Discord blinked at her sudden outburst as she slowly removed her hoofs.
“I...had...to use...all...of...it.” She said quietly, Once again Discord thanked his good hearing. “What could possibly force you to use all of your medicine?” Discord asked annoyed, glaring down at her.
“My...animal friends...got...sick...and...and...I had...too...help...them.” Fluttershy said backing away lightly from Discord; he sighed as his head started to hurt and looked up at her.

“That’s your problem not mine, I've done my part.” Discord said dully, pulling his tail away from her as he began to walk out of the room. The first thing he was going to do when he got home is to take a hot fudge bath.
“Fine, leave....I...don't...need your....help.” Fluttershy said slightly more angry but still scared.
“Whatever, I’m sure the local pharmacy can give you what you need.” Discord said walking into the living room.
“They don’t have anymore.” a voice said getting Discord's attention, he looked around and spotted Spike in the corner hugging his knees.
“Excuse me?” Discord asked, already getting tired of being here. Spike looked up at him and he knew, he just knew he would regret asking. By this point in the day he was regretting just getting up.
“They gave all the medicine they had to the hospital, there’s none left.” Spike said sniffling a bit. Yup, he was right, he regretted asking as he felt his paw smack his head and gave a sigh.
“And how do you know—oh.” Discord started to ask but the realization came when he turned and looked back at a shivering Twilight. When had the tub moved to where he could see it was a mystery to him.
“There is medicine, just not here.” Fluttershy said walking into the room.
“Should you be leaving her alone in there?” Discord asked, looking over at Fluttershy and was surprised to see her glaring at him and sporting a yellow saddlebag.

“Like you would care, like you said, it’s not your problem.” Fluttershy said in the cold voice Discord had gotten used to by now, but it still made chills run up and down his spine.
“Where?” Spike asked looking up at her, worry on his face, tears stained his face again, it was obvious he had been crying the whole time Discord and Fluttershy were in the other room talking. Fluttershy bit her lower lip for a moment before answering.
“....the Everfree Forest.” Fluttershy said quietly, slightly shaking in fear as she thought about it, Discord looked at her in disbelief.
“You’re kidding right?” Discord asked in a deadpan tone, looking at her expecting her to laugh and say she was joking.
“No...I’m not.” Fluttershy said, fear still clear in her voice but had determination in her eyes, she was not joking but had determination in her eyes, she was not joking but had determination in her eyes, and it was clear that she was not joking.
“You’re crazy; you can barely be outside of your own home on a normal day.” Discord said firmly as he stepped up to her, she only looked down, not wanting to make eye contact with him.
“And I sure as heck know you haven’t been out since I took over.” He added a tiny bit of pride slipping into his voice, this made her look up at him, giving him a glare but he shrugged it off, maybe he should make it illegal to glare when he got back home.
“So I know for a fact you would not survive going into a place I avoid on a daily basis.” Discord said, making her look down.
“In fact I’m willing to bet my freedom that you would die if you do such a foolish thing. So you might want to think twice before you head off to your death, because I won’t save you.” Discord said coldly as he looked at his paw bored.

“I know...I know I’m a coward and….. That I would probably die doing such a thing.” Fluttershy said shaking lightly. Discord smiled thinking he had just saved a pony from going on a suicide mission, but his smile quickly faded when she looked up at him.
“But I don’t care! I'd gladly risk my life for my friends, something you don't know anything about!” She yelled, tears running down her face. Discord looked at her, a hurt expression passed on his face briefly before he looked out the window. Fluttershy stared for a moment wiping her tears away, the change in mood getting her attention as he gave a sad sigh.
“I thought I knew what that was like, to have friends the way you do, I really did but I was a fool to trust in something as ridiculous as friendship.” Discord said bitterly as he turned to look at her, She was taken back, she would have never guessed he had friends before. She felt a little guilty of course he had friends before but she just assumed no one liked him. It made her think… ‘What happened to him to make him dislike the idea of friendship so much?’

“You...you had friends?” Fluttershy asked looking at him, but quickly regretted when she saw the hurt look in his eyes. She felt sympathy for him, she wondered if maybe if she should ask him about it. But she knew when to ask and when to keep quiet and the look in his eyes told her not to push the issue.
“No...Not really. I thought I did though.” Discord said bitterly closing his eyes, she blushed slightly knowing she spaced out for a bit. She thought she would at least give it a shot even though she knew better.
“Do...do you want to---
“No.” Discord said firmly, making her shut up, knowing full well what she was about to ask. He’d be damned if he was going to open that door. She looked down shyly drawing on the floor a bit nodding. He stood there thinking, thinking about his next move. Should he just walk out and leave them to their fate? Or should he follow her? Should he even lift a finger to do anything? If those 2 died, it would guarantee his rule forever. But something nagged at him, a tiny voice, a tiny annoying voice whispering though his mind. How he hated that tiny voice, what he would give to strangle the little basted. Fluttershy watched silently as he stood there quietly and, after what felt like hours, he sighed as he looked at her.

“She needs something to help heal that cut and get rid of any infection correct?” He asked, his eyes watching her like a hawk, that scared her a bit but she nodded.
“Yeah...I can keep her temperature down for a bit but if we get rid of the infection it should solve most if not all the problems she has.” Fluttershy said, not knowing what else to say, but something told her this was going in a good direction. Discord gave a groan as he turned and began to walk away.
“...I’ll be back then.” Discord said annoyed as he walked over to a window and opened it.
“Why? Where are you going!?” Fluttershy yelled as she ran to the window, worried about what he had in mind, but she was too late as Discord flew out of the window just as she got there.
“Where is he going!?” Spike yelled as he ran to the window, hopping onto Fluttershy’s back and looked out just in time to see Discord’s outline disappear into the Everfree Forest. The two of them stood there watching for a bit before Fluttershy spoke.
“That's a good question Spike.” Fluttershy said as she looked up, not knowing what else to say or what to do. She stared for a moment before turning.

“Spike, I need your help, can you help me with a few things?” Fluttershy asked, looking up at the small dragon on her back.
“Uh, sure, no problem.” He said, still looking at the window.
“What are you up too?” Spike thought to himself as he looked in the direction Discord was flying in. As the window went out of view Spike sighed, he thought he had figured Discord out, but then he does something that is so out of character like this. Then again, it was out of character for him to help him out of in the first place. Or was it? As Spike bounced slightly with the steps Fluttershy took something dawned on him as they made it to the kitchen. Did anyone actually know anything about him? He gave a weak smile as he glance back as if expecting to see him.
“I guess that’s why they call you the spirit of chaos.” he said quietly, smiling as they walked into the kitchen. His smile continued as he thought about the spirit he had come to know a little bit more, and one thing was for sure. He wasn't such a heartless monster after all.
