Equis Saga: Frontier
Chapter 1: A New Start!
Previous ChapterNext ChapterVery few do not agree with their own lifestyle.
It makes us feel lost and small to live in this world.
Or to ever reach their true goals.
A world where it is close to impossible to go anywhere or do something outside of their own isolation.
Things happen, and it happens time and time again, until the cycle continues the next day to come.
But what if I tell you,
there is another world,
beyond compared to the one you live in now.
A world called, Equis.
Our story begins with two travelers, who are traveling in a train, on their way to pass the border to the main land. A land called, Equestria. Both of them have reasons to go to this main land, that is to have a new life there. And here's the thing, they are both outlaws, but for a really good cause, and been on some adventures they always been excited for.
One traveler is a human named, Jyro Gunner. He is the first a only kind to ever set foot on this land. He can't even remember how he arrived here, but from what he was told, he fell from the sky. Or was it stars? He wears a grey t-shirt, navy-blue jeans, black and blue shoes, and a dark blue trench coat, wearing it with pride. Jyro is a relaxed and calmed human, he can be fun at times, and can be a real cool to be around. Despite his easy going attitude, he is also a powerhouse, either the gravity is weak or he adapted quickly in this worlds environment, he is one tough human. There are things he can lift, but very few he can't, but his strength gained respect to almost everyone from the place he was settled in. He did seemed surpriesed when he realized that he is in a new world and inhabited by anthro equine people. He gets to fit in with the locals for some time and they welcomed him, despite his... physical difference. Even so, they bombard him with numerous questions, and in return, he asked his. He had a great time living there, but during his stay there, he was already met with a dreaded curse. Right now, he seemed really drowsy, since he had another one of those terrifying nightmares, and yes, he has been having them, ever since he fell. Another reason why he's traveling to Equestria, he has heard that there is a Princess that can walk into dreams and even consult whomever she visits in their dreams. For his view, he is pretty excited to see her, except for his friend, which he sees it as witchcraft.
The other traveler is a muscular kangaroo named, Nick the Bruiser. He wears a white tattered t-shirt, a kilt tied to a belt, and of course, a black sport shorts he wears underneath. To Jyro's knowledge, Nick has always get the feeling that some creatures might expect what is under that 'skirt'. He easily gets triggered to call his kilt like that, but for another reason, it's comfortable. He is somewhat of an athlete given his muscular form due to his training in his hometown, plus he is always in a mood for drinks if he sees any pubs to walk in. Besides that, he also has a reason to go, he has heard that Equestria is home to a large number of booze from soft to hard, an he likes it either way. (That's what she said.)
So far, these two travelers have set course to Equestria, but they have one objective to do first. For some time, Jyro has been having constant nightmares, and it starts to get worse every day. Throughout his time, he has a strong spirit to laugh at these dreams. But this is entirely different, what he realized that it wasn't any normal nightmare he's having, he begins to grow tired and physically weak. What's worse, his skin is becoming pale, and he is close to looking like a corpse.
"Really mate. Can I at leas' take out me mallot just in case ya turned undead?" said Nick, giving a playful grin.
"Screw you, Nick! Don't remind me how you bonked my head with that thing. That fucking hurt as hell!" groaned Jyro, remembering how his nightmares made him scream while waking up, while scaring Nick the last time they bunked, "I look like one, but that doesn't mean I might chase you and eat your brain."
"Eat me brain? HA! Never heard tha' before. Bloody fun image ta watch. All jokes aside, let us hope tha' so call'd Night Princess can fix ya back ta yer ol' self. Kinda miss yer guts like how we did back at, Trotland." said Nick, as he pat Jyro on the shoulder.
"Hehe. You know, I never get tired with that lands name. It's funny to me and you find it insulting. But when I explained how your land is similar to where I'm from, you never believed me."
"It's a load of jack-shite, mate. I find no bloody chance tha' we be da ripoffs from tha' world of yo'rs. Especially, da way ya compare our folks is a bit fuckin' offensive, but understandable when ya explained da difference."
"Heh. I remember one of those wooly-minotaurs won't stop snarling at me when I compared their kin. I was also drunk. That got me pretty uneasy and I thought they would just throw me into the curb. Literally, in mud."
"Ahh that was good day, havin' a couple coldies, tellin our stories, an' you are da most fun! Ya were drinkin' to yer hearts content an' became legless because ya talked about how ya got laid off before coming here! Now tha' is a some memory."
"Yeah. I looked like an idiot drunk. But it felt good to get it out of my chest. I worked so hard in that job, but no, they throw me away. I even have a degree to have a boost in my reputation, sure I would've got a job in my field, but with financial issues and the conditions with my car, it's just impossible to get out of my town." said Jyro, as he rubbed his eyes.
"Ah, give 'em hell if ye ev'r had da chance, or... a' least if ye ev'r go back."
"... I doubt it. To be honest... I feel..." Jyro paused for a moment thinking if he ever wants to go back, "never mind, might as well give them a good Stone Cold flip off if I had the chance."
"Ha! Now tha''s da pik'r I remember, still have it in ya." Laughed Nick, until the speakers in the train begin to sound.
"... We will be arriving at Undiscovered West in 3 hours!" Announced the conductor. They are not too far for reaching the only area to enter Equestria, but it has some mysteries from what lies beyond the land. Even, Nick, wasn't too cheerful on what lies ahead.
"From wha' I've heard, thay say, we'll easily get lost and wonder all over the grassy land, no direction, compasses actin' crazy, and no sight of any body to ever see. Until some bloody nutjob finally made a path ta cross tha' curse plain." Nick shuddered thinking it might be a bad idea to cross a field with no return.
"From hearing that, I think it sounds crazy, but knowing this land is full of magic, I definitely believe it, on my perspective." said Jyro, being really cautious about that area. "Until we get there, we listen to whatever they say to avoid being lost. Forever, that is. Got it?"
"Aye."
Getting close to their checkpoint, the two travelers are getting pretty excited of how close they are, but they had to hold that excitement after they cross the mysterious land which is the main border between Trotland and Equestria. This could be the only adventure that must be taken seriously out of all they have done in the past, a gamble to ever reach the magical land of Equestria.
Atop of Canterlot Castle, is a short tower, where a princess rests at the side of her bedroom balcony staring at the town below. Her name is Luna, Princess of the Night, guardian of dreams, who happens to fail her subjects in becoming who she was, one thousand years ago. She is in a concern and disappointing mood thinking about what she has done for the past thousand years of imprisonment, and what the society thinks of her fated return. Can they see her as a princess like her sister, or see her as a tyrannical monster who wants her night to last forever so everyone can admire it more than the day. This saddens her even more, thinking why she would let this happen, and letting the darkness inside consume her, through her own actions. Or harm her own sister. No. Something else is bothering her.
"Luna?" called out a voice through her bedroom door, "May I come in?" recognizing her voice, she let her in.
"You may, sister."
Coming into her room, is her elder sister, Celestia, Princess of the Day, ruler of Canterlot, and the one who banished her sister for one thousand years. She governs almost the entire land of Equestria, and now she rules alongside with her sister.
"Is everything alright, Luna?" she asked, knowing how glum her sister is.
"*sigh* We are unsure, sister." said Luna, as she stares back outside looking at the sky, "We feel as if thee whole nation still sees us as, Nightmare Moon, and not as Luna. Even so, thou say thou have forgiven us, but what do thee citizens see upon our return?" her sister put her hand on her shoulder, giving a small smile.
"It will take time, Luna. You need to show them who you truly are, a harmless princess who is kind and sweet, much like me, and show what you can do on what I cannot." Luna snorted, thinking it might not be the case, "Or, if you like, you can host this years, Grand Galloping Gala, which is in a month and a half away, so they can see you and greet everypony."
"... That does sound like an idea, but we do not want to attend this year sister. We are still... settling in." Even returning from her imprisonment, she becomes really nervous when it come to crowds.
"... I understand, sister. But you know, you have to come out and start communicating with at least one pony, or maybe-"
"We are fine, sister!" Luna interrupted her sister in a harsh tone, until she realized her response, "... Sorry, sister. It is just,... we have been thinking..."
"Thinking of what, sister?" asked Celestia, tilting head one side.
"Well... we insisted to... talk with some-... pony." said Luna, nervously.
"... Yes?"
"But... maybe..." Celestia is clueless on what her sister is trying to say, but Luna had enough being shy about it, "*UGGGH* WEALSOLIKETOCOURTSOMEPONY! THERE!" she buried herself in her hands from embarrassment after saying that in front of her sister.
"*giggle* That is what troubles you? You want not only to have social contact, but also to court somepony?" Celestia couldn't help but be amused by her sister's request, as Luna said nothing, "... I see. Since when have you decided to date somepony? Who's the lucky stallion?" eager, she wants to know more about her sister's date.
"... Well, there was this... one guardpony..." Celestia eyed her wondering who he is, "but thou... fired him... because of his... rebellious nature... and..." Celestia leaned closer to hear more, "... well... let us say... tis not the only reason that we became, Nightmare Moon." Celestia then stopped as she processed about what she said. She took a moment to think, even it has been a thousand years, but then...
"... Wait. You mean, you have been eyeing that guardpony!? I thought he was going to assassinate you, seeing how he took out most of the guards, then we apprehended him..." she looked at her sister who's very sorrowful, until her eyes widened in realized "... That means... he was there... for you." Celestia saw her sister's tears flow slowly on her face, "... Luna... I am so sorry. I didn't know."
"No, sister." said Luna, as she turned toward her sister, "Thou should have known. We have kept this relationship a secret, ever since our jealousy to you grows, he has been on our side since then. At the point when my hatred has taken over us and found out you arrested him, it was too late." Luna turned back to the balcony with a down look, "I am such fool, we were so blinded to see what is important to have somepony in your life." she is nearly in tears, having to lose someone who may be a part of her life. Sadly, her price of banishment has cost her courtship.
"Luna," Celestia walked to her sister and place her hands on her's, "I really wish we can go back and fix that mess, but we have to move forward. I know I could've said something something uplifting or say it's not your fault, but you have to live over it. Right now, you are here, and not as Nightmare Moon, you are in a new era of Equestria, a chance to start over, let these ponies know who you truly are." Luna surprisingly took her sister's words as motive, and starts to believe in herself a little more, "And who knows, maybe you can find somepony to court." She said in a playful manner.
"*giggle* Stop it!" Luna playfully pushed her sister, not sure she was joking or encouraging her, and Celestia became happy to see her smile, "*sigh* Thou are right sister, thank you. And since when did you ever become an inspirational?"
"Oh, being a solo monarch throughout the years has improved my speech. It wasn't too hard, just finding the best words were a pain." Luna chuckled knowing that her elder sister did most of the royal work instead of her, but maybe she might have responsibilities like that one day, "You will catch on, Luna. Maybe you might gain something in the future," Celestia then pressed her finger on her sister's snout, "For starters, changing your speech." Luna shook and looked at her sister with a bemused look.
"What are thou talking about, sister? We have no idea why thou have mention our speech. Our speech is pure and clear, thou cannot say nay about it!" Luna protests, as her sister looked at her, eyebrow raised, "......... Hearing you speak sounded a bit alien to us, but strangely better and more clear. We... or I,... suppose I should change my way of speech." then Luna realizes something, "Now that we think about it, are we really a tounge-twister?" Two sisters looked at each other for a moment, until they broke into a heart felt laughter.
"Hehe. I've got to admit, we were both tounge-twisters back then. I didn't realize how bad our speech was." Said Celestia, as their laughter slowly fades. "And yes, I had to go through that change to, but it was worth it in the end."
"So, thou suggest that our life will be easier by improving our speech?"
"... Let's say, it makes you more noticeable. Even to somepony you may like." teased Celestia.
"... Thou have changed character greatly over the years, haven't you sister?" said Luna, unamused.
"Oh, Luna. There are many things about me that changed over the years"
"Like your- *GASP* *SHIVER*" Luna suddenly reacted to an odd sensation just now.
"What's wrong, sister?" asked Celestia.
"We... we are not certain. It may be the cold temprature we just felt." Celestia gave a questioning look.
"It is the middle of the afternoon and about 83 degrees, are you sure you are feeling alright?"
"... Tis' fine, sister. Maybe that early morning chill was still there. There's no need to fret."
"... Well alright. I better be going for day court, feel free to come to the throne room if you feel like it. I would love to have you by my side, for old times sake."
"Thank you, sister. Good day."
"Good day,... Lulu." Celestia playfully said as she left the room, leaving Luna's reaction with a groan and annoyance.
"She still remembers, after all these years." her expression changed with a smile, "Oh how we missed you,... Tia."
All aside with her older sister's little antics, she thought about the sensation she felt earlier. It felt cold, and... familiar. What ever it was, she hoped it was just a sudden shiver, and nothing too serious.
Hopfully.

Guess the intro to what it's based from. I made a few tweaks and made my own version.
