Devastation

It took Logan ten minutes to get to the hospital, he constantly had to duck into alleys and shops because of the changelings flying over and in the city. As he worked his way to the hospital he kept telling himself "If they don't expect anything to be there chances are they won't see anything at all," and the theory held up to the hospital. Now at the hospital Logan doubted that anyone was in the building at all.

It reminded Logan of a horror scene or a haunted hospital, and guessing by the looks it could very well be haunted soon. The front desk was in ruins, papers were everywhere on and near the desk. Chairs varied in damage only one looked untouched others were either broken partially or completely destroyed, a few had the foam stuffing in them those that didn't had theirs hopelessly scattered aroud the lobby. Then something caught Logan's eye, but he wished it hadn't, blood.

More injured ponies must have come after I left, Logan thought, But how many came. Logan knew he didn't want to find out, but he had to. As he stepped towards the hallway more blood became visible. Logan looked down at his feet until he was facing down the center of the hallway. Logan looked forward and felt his heart skip a beat then race.

Dots of splattered blood covered areas on the walls, floor, and ceiling. Most of those areas were near trails of blood that went from one room to the next, the hallway into a rooms, and blood trails ending in the hallway with a dead body in a puddle of blood. Logan walked down the hallway glancing into rooms to check for survivers but there were none, nopony was spared. Logan walked up to the next floor and went up the hall and back before going up to the next floor and doing the same.

Logan tried his best to keep from screaming as he passed bodies of ponies, one room on the last floor caused him to investigate further. Even though the last floor was had the most bodies in the hallway one thing stood out. A wheel chair was outside the room with a trail of blood leading from the chair into the room, inside a mare's dead body was face down at the end of the trail but there was more. Two young ones, a newborn and filly, were dead, both with the legs of a hospital bed through their heads. Logan heard a noise from a closet, he opened it to find a colt on the verge of death. The colt tried to say something but it was to fast.

"Shhhhh," Logan said trying to calm the colt down, "say it slow."

"The changelings they... came and... killed everypony," the colt said gasping for air, "They kept talking... about a spell or curse,"

"What was the curse?" Logan asked.

"They kept saying something... before they killed us," the colt responded.

"What was it?" Logan asked.

"They kept saying... that we would... we would... we would" the colt started sobbing.

"No don't cry," Logan said, "What did they say?"

The colt spoke, "They kept saying... that we would... rise again," and the colt died. Logan felt tears starting to form in his eyes, and he decided it was right to let them flow freely. He exhaled a shudering breath and got up, wiping the tears out of his eyes and off his face. He left walking slowly to Rainbow Dash's room trying to ignore the more than ten bodies that littered the hall, when he got there Rainbow Dash was not on the bed. The room was a mess but there was no blood, even the blood from when Rainbow Dash cried blood was gone.

"Rainbow?" Logan called out, "It's me Logan," he heard something shuffle under the bed then noticed a head poking out under the bed with a relieved smile on it. Rainbow Dash came out from under the bed and galloped to Logan giving him a hug.

"Are you okay?" Logan asked trying to pull away from her but to no avail, he got no answer but didn't need one as he could feel her tears begining to wet his shoulder, "I'm going to heal your wing, okay."

"Okay," Rainbow said, her voice trembled with trauma and fear. Logan grabbed her wing still in the embrace and began to heal it.

"Are you hurt?" Logan asked starting to use his calming voice.

"My wing, duh," Rainbow said giggling a little.

"Rainbow, you don't have to answer this next question if you don't want to. I found one colt barely alive, and before he died he told me the changelings said that they, the ponies, would rise again. Do you know what they meant?"

"They probably meant that they would go to a happy place in the after life, it has been said it's like living again." Rainbow said guessing.

"I'll ask Luna after this is over, but right now we need to get out of here and find those element things," Rainbow Dash nodded reluctantly. Logan led Rainbow Dash to out the door but only two feet out he stopped and a chill of terror ran up his spine like no other from what he couldn't find. He stopped Rainbow Dash from going on.

"What's wrong?" Rainbow Dash asked annoyed, "There's no changelings to attack you and me,"

"It's not the changelings that I'm worried about," Logan said and Rainbow Dash gave him a confused look, "When I went down the hall to your room the hall was littered with bodies,"

Rainbow Dash turned to him confused, "So,"

"Look aound," Logan said, "Now there's not a single body in sight," Logan was right, every single body that he passed was gone with out a trace. "It's like they just got up and left," Logan added as he glided down the hall with both his blades out. He walked slow ly checking every room for more bodies but they were gone, all of them. Logan looked into the room he found the half dead colt in, but there were no bodies. The colt was gone, the mare was gone, even the infant and filly, who had bed legs through their heads, were gone.

Logan resisted the urge to jump out the nearest window or runing as fast as he could down the stairs. He walk to the bed and tried to lift it which was an easy task. "But how could a dead body go missing?" Logan asked himself out loud. He turn back to Rainbow Dash but she was gone, Logan walked into the hall and saw her staring into the stairway with a look of terror. Logan ran to her, "What wrong?"

"Look in the stairs," Rainbow said and Logan walked into the stairs, "The changelings said they would-" Logan held up his had to stop her.

He illuminated the entire stair ceiling and wall covered with the missing bodies. One of the bodies open it's eyes then another then all of them studying Logan. Their stare was lifeless and hungry, "Rise again," Logan said understanding. One of them open it's mouth slowly and made a small noise the others turned to Logan with a look of an animal ready to kill. They opened their mouths. Logan yelled at Rainbow Dash and grabbed her runing down the stairs "Run!" the dead bodies replied, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Logan and Rainbow Dash jumped down the small opening in the middle of the stairs and landed on the ground floor with a thud. As they ran to the exit, Logan came to the conclusion that the bodies were no longer dead but were partially living. The fact sent chills up Logan's spine, they were the undead the nearly unstopable: real zombies.

Raimbow dash tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge. "It won't open!" she screamed. Logan looked down the hall to the door leading to the stair, but it was dead silent.

"It's quiet," Logan said, "Too quiet," the zombies poured out of the door heading at Logan and Raimbow Dash faster than a full sprint. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the zombies screeched in unison, "Now it's too loud!" Logan put up an electric barricade, but the zombies didn't care they slammed straight into it. and started thrashing at the wall of electricity. "Buck that door open!" Logan yelled as he looked at the zombies not even taking notice to the fact that the wall was zapping them every time they hit it. Logan saw the colt he talked to thrashing and screaming trying to break the electric wall. Next to him were the infant and filly that were under the bed.

Suddenly the infant tried using its head to hit the electric wall once, twice, and on the third time its head ripped off from its shoulders, but it was still alive. The zombie filly looked at the headless body and picked up the head trying to put it back on as the head looked at Logan and made chewing motions. After lerning that she couldn't put the head on the body again, she screamed and immediately the zombies stopped attacking the electric wall looking at the head and body.
Then the zombies attack started again but this time on the body and head, they stared eating it. In less than ten seconds the entire infant was devoured, and they resumed their attack on the electric wall.

Then from the wild punches came a beam of magic, but it was from a zombie. "They're getting smarter." Logan said in terror. He increased the shield as the attacks got harder to stop. "Rainbow is the door open?"

"It still won't open!" She screamed, then Logan got an idea.

"Get away from the door!" Logan yelled, Rainbow didn't argue, "Run!" Logan fired a gigawatt hammer at the door which exploded on impact. Rainbow Dash ran out the door but stopped and called for Logan.

"Let's go!" Rainbow screamed.

"If these things bite anyone what do you think will happen to them?" Logan said then continued without an answer, "They get completely eaten or turned into zombies! The colt said it was a spell or a curse."

"I'll find Twilight!" Rainbow declared, "She'll know what to do!" with that Rainbow Dash became a blur as she took off into the sky.

Logan turned his attention back to the zombies hitting and now firing magic beams, Logan felt something going empty his electricity. He could feel the shield fade as he ran out of electricity, until the wall of zombies broke through. The zombies came at him at a full sprint and one of them took a swing just early missing him before he started running. Logan thought it really couldn't get worse, zombies that lived even without a head, never got tired, and could learn.

Logan ran out the door and decided to head back to the changeling that was in the alley, he hoped the changeling knew how to get rid of the zombies, because if he didn't get rid of them soon he would either go on the longest run ever, or he would be their next meal. Logan needed a way to push the zombies back with out using a great majority of his electricity. A shockwave or something just to delay them, or throw them back.

Logan turned into an alley planning to double back stalling time to grab any electricity in the air, which he already had started doing when he left the hospital, but was so far only an eighth full. As he went through Logan noticed how narrow it was, it could only fit two at a time so would take the zombies a long time to work their way through, at least that was his logic. He turned around to make sure check his logic, the zombies swarmed the alley, it was only wide enough for two but the zombies climbed on top of each other, they all stopped for a moment and looked at Logan.

"Shit."

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the zombies started again, and Logan ran again checking how much power he had, a little over half. The zombies must contain electricity Logan thought. He slowed down to the zombies and he felt more electricity filling him up completely. Now the zombies were close, Logan was about to tire out, and Rainbow Dash hadn't brought Twilight back yet. He had to push the zombies back, or else he was going to be a snack.
