Preyed
Chapter One
Load Full Story"God.. Damnit.." Twilight moaned loudly in exhaustian, opening her eyes only to be blinded by a bright light from above. She lifted her head up, noticing that she was laying on the floor, her hoofs stretched about on the floor as if she had been drunk the night before. She didn't know where she was, and didn't know what she was doing there. She saw that she happened to be in some kind of, Lab. She looked to the left above an opening from a door, to see 'Section C' written above it.
She sighed. "What am I doing here?"
She lifted herself up with the help of a nearby table, balancing herself evenly on all of her hoofs now. Suddenly, a wave of air brushed passed her, or atleast thats what she thought.
Her ear-drums popped, causing her to wince in pain as loud sounds started to become apparent. Loud alarms blared across every room in the entire Science Division, causing loud echoing. She looked up to see a flashing red light, beaming across the room, making her wonder how she didn't notice it from before.
"Red Light..? Maybe an emergency..?" She asked herself.
Suddenly, screaming was heard down the hall from the Lab she was in. Without hesitation, she bolted down to see what was wrong, only to see another pony, being surrounded by weird looking black.. 'things', before they jumped on the pony and started to tear away at her flesh before four of the 'things' had consumed the entire pony, re-animating the pony into something else that stood bipedally. Without hesitation, she ran out of the way of the creature, making her way outside of the Lab.
"What the fuck is this place.. Why am I here..? What is happening?!" She said, her mind flooded with questions in seconds before she heard the creature walking from behind her. She turned around to see it, before running out of the door. She turned around once more to see a 'manual override' button, smashing it with her hoof and causing the door to slam shut, a red light replacing the green LED on the door, showing that it was now completely shut.
She stared at the creature, who ominously stood against the door, making distorted noises, actually pretending to sound somewhat like another pony. It imitated it, but not well at all. She turned to face forward, seeing herself in a what seemed to be, lobby. A monument of Celestia stood in the middle, though she didn't know who that actually was.
"What is this place.. Why am I-"
She trailed off, seeing the window that lead to the view of Equestria, billions of stars seen in the distance, the light from Equestria beaming to the space-craft. Her eyes widened, realizing that she was in space, thousands upon thousands of miles from the world.
She didn't have much time to think about it, another one of the bipedal creatures making distorted sounds to her right, walking straight towards her.
"Oh god-" She muttered before bolting forward and seeing a pair of stairs that led three stories up. She immediately went up it, seeing multiple smaller creatures in her way and jumping above them and running through another door.
She ran until she made it to what seemed like an office and slid into the door, opening before she hit it. She quickly jumped up and hit the override button, the creature slamming against the door along with the smaller ones.
"What is happening?!" She questioned. She tried remembering what happened before she woke up, but nothing came up. She had definitely lost her memory. Making her way across the office, being wary of her surroundings.
"Hello, I a-"
Twilight screamed loudly before turning around quickly and backing up against a glass wall, her eyes widened as she looked up at the floating object, a blue eye looking at her from the floating device.
"Don't worry, i'm an Operator, one of the many Mechanical Operators onboard Canterlot I, but none of them are designed like me." It said, using the same voice as Twilight.
"How do.. You have my voice..?" Twilight asked, confused. The entire thing seemed fictional and surreal.
"You made me, and designed me to have your voice when something like this happened, to make sure that no hostility or danger with my presence around you. There is a lot to explain and little time to explain it. Come." It said, floating over to a terminal in-front of a desk.
Twilight didn't have a right to ask questions, she knew nothing about this and it was the first friendly thing she had encountered yet. Nothing risked, nothing gained, as if she had anything to actually risk except her life.
The Terminal showed a camera pointed at herself, in a different setting.
"This is a recording you made to yourself. You told me to make sure that you hear it. Press play when your ready." It said.
Twilight pushed play on the screen, it playing the video.
"Hello, Twilight. My name is Twilight, as you might already know. You don't know much, and that's okay. This situation is unprecedented and shouldn't have happened in the first place, but it did. The entire operation of Canterlot I is dangerous, and should be discarded quickly. You are my last hope, and your own last hope. You've lost your memory, something unfortunate that happened during a Ponymod installation. I'm one of the participants during the Psychotronics Laboratory experiments. You must listen to the Operator I created, named 'January', nicknamed after the month that this entire ordeal had been created."
"I'm sorry that you have to be in the middle of all of this, but this is the way things are. You only have one choice, and you have no choice but to do this if you don't want any more casualties from the Typhon. You must activate the Self-Destruct sequence in the Tower Sector. It's not going to be an easy trip, but I know you can do it. I believe in myself. January will help you through-out the entire time and your entire journey. This is the only way, if even one little bit of Typhon get back to Equestria, our entire species are doomed and so is everything else on Equestria. It's not an easy thing to do, but you always did the right thing, or at-least I think I did. Good luck.."
Twilight stared at the monitor, more questions forming in her head.
'I have to.. kill myself..?' She asked.
"Twilight, open the left drawer. There is something you left yourself for protection." January said to her, making a small beep.
Twilight looked at the left drawer, opening it with her magic and seeing a small package. It was rapped in tinfoil. She unwrapped it with her magic, to reveal a pistol, caliber .45 S&W, six chambers. She looked at it in awe.
She turned to face January.
"There is no way i'm using a gun. It can ki-"
"That is the main purpose of it." January interrupted. "Those creatures will not stand and look at you friendly like, and they don't understand any language. They can't speak either. Let me explain what these creatures, so you can understand better about them."
"These creatures are called Typhon, an alien species we had discovered a very long time ago. These creatures had been kept secret for the longest time, to make sure the public didn't know about it. This ship, Canterlot I, is based off of the research on these creatures. We have learned that Typhon mainly mimic other creatures, trying to understand what we are like. They also kill, but that is mainly because they have no moral or feelings, and are simply living on a fight or die feeling. I was monitoring the cameras during your awakening, and saw that you had encountered a 'Phantom', a type of Typhon that are bipedal like, and can consume and change ponies into themself."
"The Smaller creatures are called Mimics. The reason for this nickname is that they are able to transform into ANY material known to your kind. A simple box may not be a box, and may be indeed a mimic pretending to be a box. They use this camouflage to their advantage and attack from there. They can transform from a box to a gun, to a turret to a chair, to large objects."
"Also, be careful for operators like myself. Some of the operators may be corrupted by the Typhon, causing them to be hostile and will try to kill you." January finished.
"That.. is a lot information to withhold suddenly in my head." Twilight said, shaking her head at the massive amount of information.
"That's fine. I don't expect you to understand everything considering you have just lost all of your memory. I'll be able to contact you via your suits communication system. I will be every step of the way with you, no matter where you go. You won't be alone in this journey."
Twilight looked down at herself, just now realizing she was wearing a special suit, orange and blue in color. It seemed advanced. January beeped and floated over to a backpack.
"Please take this for your journey, you will be able to carry a lot in this backpack, and you can come back any time to craft special materials or objects and items to aid yourself in this journey." January said, Twilight getting up and equipping the backpack and sliding the .45 pistol into it.
"You should most likely get to sleep, before you become sleepless and tired, causing exhaustion and fatigue. This will deeply affect your ability to do much during your time here." Twilight nodded at January's advice, walking over to a chair and sitting on it, it big enough to fit her entire body on-top of it and curling into what seemed like a ball.
"Good Night, Twilight. I will be here when you awake." January said, watching the front door of the office. There wasn't need to be scared, as January was specially designed with an in-built defense system to keep any and all Typhon away, and is able to detect mimics easily with its Psychotronic parts.
Twilight listened to the whirring of January floating above the floor, before nodding off to sleep surprisingly already, even though she had awoken an hour earlier. She was unusually exhausted, but didn't ask questions. She just wanted to sleep, hoping to sleep on her Anxiety and Worried thoughts.
"Good night.." She said to January.
Author's Note
Hey.
I hope you enjoyed the first chapter of Preyed, the first actual story i'm planning to write and finish in my entire time being here on Fim-Fiction.
I recommend you check out the actual game, 'Prey', which this story is heavily based off of. This story is only taking Main concepts of the game and using them in the story, this story is not made to take entire game and make it a novel, but to only use the idea of it, such as Fallout Equestria had done.
I love you all, please leave constructive criticism and not hateful criticism, as I don't like hate in any way, but any constructive criticism and ideas you have for me, please tell me.
I'm always willing to listen.
