One Of A Kind
Doubts
Load Full StoryThe Morning
Growing up a kid of relatively few but simple desires, Winter never opened the door for bullying to affect him deeply, whether it’d be premature judgements given to his family or his ‘un-fresh’ style of wardrobe or being an average teenager. Such tactics of verbal bullying never mattered much to the Pegasus for he knew most of them were false or easily defeated and without much base to stand on. But today, one bully would present him with such harassment that it would change the course of everything. This is the beginning of the story.
This Tuesday had started like any others prior, with Winter arising early to begin his daily routine to prepare for another school day. Making his way to the shower, he couldn’t help but hear Mother and Stepfather discussing a matter which seemed of great importance, but due to his sleepiness and desire to get this period of day over with, Winter did not find the subject matter worth prying. Of course, he figured, if they had something important to declare, they’d tell him along with the rest of the family.
Winter’s showering preferences had always been strange, even by his family’s standards. He always preferred cold showers over hot or warm showers, not that he disliked hot and warm showers, he did take them on occasion, it’s just more often than not, Winter found himself preferring a cold shower over the others. Reason for this preference is simply because cold water does a much better job of purging whatever drowsiness he had left.
During his usual showering routine, the sound of the door opening reaches his ears. Being naturally curious as to who could be intruding on his showering, Winter takes a quick gander through the shower curtains and makes the clear outline of a female figure. He immediately noted the figure of being one of his sisters simply because the figure was too small to be either Spring or Mother, which meant it had to be either Summer or Autumn. Which one it was turned out to be a trickier query to answer since Summer and Autumn are twins.
His wait wouldn’t be long, however, as the shower curtains were pulled back slightly as Summer joins him under the cold water. She shivered slightly, for even if she knew better to expect the water to be on cold, in the heat of the moment, she forgot that little essential detail.
This event, to any normal colt, would mean a chance to become frolicsome with an attractive relative, but the gears in Winter’s mind move inversely from other children, so his sexual attraction to his sister is non-existent and he had since come to terms with his family’s strange fascination with communal bathing, and come to simply let it happen with little to no fuss.
“Goodness gracious, does it need to be so cold?”
However, in the event that either his sisters, cousin, or Mother joins him in his cleansing routine, it was always followed by the subsequent adjustment of the water’s temperature to their specific preferences, apparently omitting his own showering preferences. And that’s what Summer busied herself with.
“I know for some strange reason you like cold showers, but you could at the very least, have the hot water on a little bit.” A smirk beams across her face as she discovers the optimal water temperature she personally adores.
Standing up, Summer equips herself with her own washing glove and starts washing him up, earning an audible groan in response. Of course, she was dismayed with his unhappiness, she didn’t fail to voice it, “Look, I overslept and don’t have the time to be waiting for someone to be getting out the shower.” She explains, an edge of anger in her voice, “So it’s either this or I shove you up my ass. And I haven’t had an ass snack in a while, so you should be just perfect for getting back into the swing of things.” Slapping her right doughy cheek to emphasize her point.
Desiring to not be the pony that got her sister back into the swing of things, Winter complied with little complaining since he knew she would keep to her promise.
Happy that her little brother was compliant with the sudden conundrum they found themselves in, Summer graces his cheek with a light peck, “I know this isn’t how you’d normally start out your day and it’s a bit embarrassing to have your older sister wash you up when your 15-years-old.” She acknowledges, moving the glove to his back, “But, since I’ll be paid this Friday, I was thinking I could buy a couple movie tickets for you and some friends. How’s that sound?” She proposes.
Even if Winter lacked a decent posse of friends, he could ask around the school to see if anyone would be interested in joining him for trip to the cinema, so he nods.
“Or if you can’t find any friends to go with, I’ll see if me and Autumn can go.” She adds, a visible smile spreads across her face, “It’s been a while since we had some quality sibling time, hasn’t it?”
Smiling along with her, Winter chuckles a bit, “Yeah, things have been a bit hectic.” He agrees, “Hey, any idea what Mother and Stepfather was talking about downstairs?” He inquires, his curiosity of the conversation he caught wind of finally surfaced.
Another smile travels across Summer’s lips, however, this one was more akin to a mischievous sneer in place of the innocent smirk from before. Admittedly, it triggered a few red flags in Winter’s subconscious.
“You’re creeping me out Summer.” He states, backing up only to be stopped by the wall, sandwiching him between his beautiful sister and the wall.
Leaning in, she simply whispers, “You’ll just have to find out, won’t you?” Turning around, she presented him with her back, “Now, mind getting my back for me?” She requested, “And please, be careful where your hands go.” She advised playfully.
A sigh escapes Winter’s lips, “Very well then, let’s get this over with quickly, I’ve already wasted enough time dillydallying.”
With the joint shower he and Summer shared over, Winter hoped that that would be the final hurdle in his preparation for school today. Nevertheless, it seemed that the word loathed the snow-white Pegasus since he failed to find any clothes that would be appropriate for today.
Quite displeased by the way his day had commenced, he doesn’t wait too long to resort to calling out for his cousin, “Spring! Do you know where my clothes are?!” He questions, pure irritation slipping into his voice.
“I’m sorry sweetie, I forgot to tell you they needed to be washed.”
Damn’t, it usually takes an hour to wash clothes, and that’s not bearing in mind if she’s washing anyone else’s garments.
“Check in my room for any clothes you could use!”
Now, if this were Summer or Autumn offering their attires, Winter would have been a lot more comfortable showing up to school with this towel on. However, this was not Summer or Autumn offering him attires, it was Spring who was, and so his comfortability levels were considerably high.
Why, you ask?
Because Spring had gone through an era of purchasing outfits from the male segment of retail stores, and luckily for Winter, she was a hoarder and saved them from that certain era in her life. The result was Winter always had a good backup plan if he ever ran out of clothes for any bizarre reason.
And due to Spring’s identically habitual need for organization to his own, Winter was dressed in a relatively short amount of time, soon joining his family for breakfast.
“Good morning sweetheart, how’s your morning?” Mother pecks him on the cheek, sitting next to him.
Wracking his conscious over the accurate words to use, Winter only shrugs, “Only a bit out of the ordinary.” He discloses, the subject matter of her earlier discussion with Stepfather coming to the forefront of his attention again, “By the way, what was you talking about with Stepfather?” He questions.
She simply smiles, “Somebody’s moving into Old Robin Art’s place in a week.” She explains, reaching behind Winter’s neck and fastened the neckless she held.
Inspecting the neckless that he now adorned, Winter noted that it bared the symbol of a musical note, “Whose this from?” He inquires.
Mother shrugs, “Just a little gift from the pony moving into Old Robin’s place.” She says.
Now knowing that whoever deemed moving into the abode of it’s late previous owner is possibly some he had met before, he pries for their names, “Is it someone we know? Who is it?”
Chuckling, Mother pecks him on the cheek before a clearly feigning expression of worry crosses her face, “Goodness me, look at the time! I’m almost late for work! See you later!”
Frowning, Winter knew Mother once again dodged a question she did not feel was appropriate to answer, like his queries about his biological father. It both amazed and annoyed him how she was capable of coming up with excuses to not answer, all of which were very identical yet different in some way when you look into the nitty gritty details.
However, he had little time to ponder over Mother’s eccentric devices as he required a speedy preparation for school and he wasted enough time dillydallying. Eating his provided breakfast and bidding Spring farewell with a quick peck on his cheek, Winter equipped the bicycle Spring allowed him to use for transportation to and from school and set off into the rising sun’s horizon.
Little did he know, school has some unforeseen surprises for him waiting to be unraveled.
