I look down on the city of Canterlot from my perch, quickly searching the crowds for my target. "Dart do you read me?" I say telepathically through the hive mind, "Dart do you read me?"
"Yes I read you loud and clear, what is it"
"I can't find the target from here, permission to relocate?"
"Granted"
I quickly down an elixir of invisibility and take flight. Yes that will do nicely, I land on one the castles towers and start searching. "I found the target," I say lying through my teeth," they appear to be alone, permission to engage?"
"Alone you say?" Dart replies after a while.
"Correct."
"Permission granted, engage the target"
Looking down on my commanding officer, I aim and fire a single shot. The bolt hits Dart right in the chest makes a sickening sound as it pierces through his chitin exoskeleton and Dart lets out an ear piercing scream of pain, as I take a second to reload.
"ASTRIS, WHAT IN TARTARUS ARE YOU DOING," Dart practically yells through the telepathic link.
I fire a second shot. *Thud* "Damn, I missed that last one," I say aloud reloading my crossbow a second time.
Dart turns around and fires an arcane bolt at me. It lands hits my right foreleg and burns a hole straight through it completely ignoring my chitin. "Oh, that fucking hurts," I say as I start to black out.
"Contacting greater hive mind, Astris has gone rogue," goes Dart contacting all hive members in the area, "I repeat Astris has gone rogue, requesting ba-" he gets cut off as my third shot goes straight through his neck, one of the few places a changeling doesn't have chitin.
"Damn it, that took more shots then it should've," I say out loud, "now I have the hunters on my trial."
Quickly flying down I go into a bat pony disguise and drop the crossbow at my hooves. I start running to the nearest guard and start to shout, "Help! I was attacked by a change-" and everything goes black.

Canterlot's Central Hospital

I wake up in an unfamiliar room I sit up and look around. "A hospital," I say in confusion as yesterdays events start to come back to me. I look down, good my disguise is still in place.
A white unicorn in a nurses outfit walks into the room with a tray of food. " Hay, Crimson Tail, it looks like the patient is awake," she yells back through the door as she puts the tray on the bed in front of me.
Looking at the tray, "does this contain any apple or Rye products?" I ask, "because I'm allergic to those."
"No," she replies, "wow you sure are hungry, but that's to be expected after being unconscious for four days."
I stop eating for a second, "Wait I've been out for FOUR days?!"
Crimson walks in, "Yes, you have been out cold for four days. The only reason I knew you were still alive I first saw you is because I could hear you breathing," he continues as the nurse leaves to check on some of the other patients, "I called the Royal Guard before coming in here, the one that brought you in said that I should contact them when you woke up," Crimson stops talking for a second to look at me, "So do you have any questions before before they show up?"
"No, but I did notice that my foreleg has been healed thank you for that."
"Only doing my job."
"On that note how much is this going to cost?"
"Nothing," Crimson starts, "treatment for any life-threatening injuries is free in Canterlot. So I heard you were attacked by a changeling is this true?"
At this point, a Royal Guard walks in and motions for Crimson to leave, "Now I know that you have already been through a lot today, but I need you to bear with me."
"Okay."
"I'm Lieutenant Firestar of the Royal Guard. I need you to state your name and occupation."
"I'm Astris and I work as a monster hunter out in the badlands," I say as I start to mentally berate myself for using my real name.
"If you're a monster hunter what were you doing in one of the back alleys Canterlot?"
"I'm in Canterlot to see an old friend," I stop to look at Firestar's face, "they used to live in one of the apartments over there, I say used to because after getting there I learned that they passed away two weeks ago..." I say trailing off to imitate sorrow.
"Sorry to hear that," Firestar says believing my lie, "you may continue."
"Okay, after that I decided to walk to the cemetery to say some final goodbyes," I say this with quiet reverence, "On the way, I got jumped by a changeling in dark alleyway. The only reason I got hit is that it took me off guard."
"We found the changeling in question. It had two crossbow bolts embedded in it and we found a crossbow nearby. I'm guessing after the changeling attacked, you proceeded to fire back. Is this correct?"
"Yes, it is," I continue, "after dispatching the changeling I started running to go get medical attention for my leg."
"Okay, that is all we wanted to know," Firestar states with a small smile, "Now the Crimson Tail said you could check out after this and that your bags are at the receptionist's desk. If you want your crossbow back you're going to have to go to the barracks."
"That's good to hear and the guard can keep my crossbow," seeing the guards face I continue, "Part of the reason I came here to see my friend is because I retired and wanted to see them before moving to Ponyville."
"Gotcha and again sorry for your loss."
"Its okay I used to work with him and just wanted to see him one last time."
"Well, I should start heading back to report this to my commanding officer."
After Lieutenant Firestar left I followed Crimson Tail to the receptionist's desk. I got my saddlebag back and checked my self out. After leaving the hospital I went and walked into an alleyway and after checking to make sure no one had followed me I changed my disguise to that of a half-dragon pegasus reasoning if was to start my life over, like I was planning, then I should have a disguise that allows me to use the dragon half of my biology even if it might turn some heads.
With my disguise taken care of, I started walking to the train station. When I arrived I walked up to the Ticketmaster and asked, "When is the next train to Ponyville?"
The Ticketmaster replied, "In about an hour, and tickets will be 4 bits."
I simply nod and set the money down on the booth
"Okay, here is your ticket and enjoy the ride."
"Thank you."
The train arrived on time and I hand in my ticket. After boarding the train I find my seat and fall asleep.

Okay for anyone reading this I just want to state that this is my first time writing a story like this so any feedback is appreciated. Now that is out of the way if the grammar on this is atrocious I might need a proof-reader. I will ask for one if necessary, as I said any feedback is appreciated 
. Now I will try to release new chapters whenever I actually get them finished and at times this may become difficult due to school. I will remove these authors note when I post the next chapter, however, anything that is important will be moved over to the latest chapter.

I wake up as the train comes to a stop and gather my things.
“Everpony we are now at the Ponyville Train Station, please exit the train at this point.”
After I get up exit the train I take a moment to look around. Okay I really need a place to stay for a bit, and besides, it is getting fairly late. I start looking for somepony to ask for directions, I quickly spot a pink earth pony with a curly mane and tail. “Hay you with the curly mane,” I say getting her attention, “I would like to ask for directions.”
She turns around and after spotting me she gasps and runs up into my face and starts talking at hundred words a second, “Hi I’m Pinkie Pie but my friends just call me Pinkie, so whats your name? I’ve never seen anypony like you except for maybe Gilda, but she’s a griffon and you’re clearly not a griffon so what are you?” Dear Luna does she even need to breathe,” You said you’re new here right, so where are you from. Where do you need to go?”
“Astris. I’m a Half-Dragon. I grew up in the frozen north. I just need to know if there’s anywhere I can stay for a bit, while work on buying a house.”
“Astris that’s a neat name. So you’re a half-dragon, whats the other half, can you breathe fire? I know a dragon his name is Spike he lives with Twilight in the Library. You’re from the frozen north,” wait where did she get those sunglasses, “that’s cool. If you need somewhere to stay I think Derpy Hooves has a room for rent I can take you there if you want.”
“That would be great on one exception no talking okay. No, and If you really want to know my mother was a pegasus and my father is a dragon.”
“Okey dokey lokie, one last question how old are you?”
“I’m well over 600 years old. Now can we go know?”
“Yes. So why are you in Ponyville?”
“I would like to not answer that.”

10 minutes later

“Okay, So-” Pinkie stops talking for a second, “Okay we’re there, and it looks like Derpys home. Bye, see you tomorrow.”
“Okay,” I say without even listening.
Pinkie hops away as I take a second to look at the house, it’s a two-story house with a nice brick chimney, wooden walls, and thatch roof. I slowly walk up to the door and knock on it. After I knock on the door I hear her somepony say, “Coming,” which was followed by a load crash with a, “I’m okay,” shortly after. Then the door opened, and behind the door is a gray pegasus with blond hair and a wall-eyed stare.
“Hello my name is Astris, and your Derpy Hooves I presume,” I wait a second and she nods, “I heard that you had a room for rent if this a bad time I can come back later, is that okay?”
“No this isn’t a bad time.”
“Can I come inside then,” I ask and Derpy just gestures for me to come inside. When I walk inside the first thing I notice is that there is no wall between the living room and kitchen. The living room contains two flowerpots, a couch, a knocked over table with three chairs, and a small unicorn filly drawing on a piece of paper. The kitchen, on the other hoof, contains a few cupboards, a sink, a stove, a countertop, and a small fridge.
With a lovely smell drafting from the stove, Derpy turns to the filly and says, “Dinky, come and meet Astris he might be staying with us for a while.”
Dinky drops her crayon and runs up to meet me, “Hello Astris I’m Dinky Do,” she stops to look at me and asks, “What are you some kind of Superpony.”
“Only on Tuesdays,” I say in a joking manner, “but on a more serious note Derpy where is the room I’m staying in.”
“The second floor, first one to the left. My room is the on the right and Dinky’s is the second one to the left,” Derpy says this she pulls a tray out of the stove, “Dinky muffins are ready, Astris do you want one.”
“That depends what kind are they and do they contain any apple products or rye?”
“Chocolate chip,” Derpy responds and after picking up the ingredient list says, “Nope, no apples or rye. Why do you ask?”
“Allergies,” I say, “In that case yes I’ll have one.”
“Oh. Okay, I’ll keep that in mind and Astris can you go pick the table up. I crashed into it.”
“I’ve already done it, mom,” I hear Dinky say from the living room.
“And that’s why you’re mommies little angel.”
Dinkie walks up behind me and says, “Astris I noticed that you don’t have a cutie mark, why is that?”
“That’s because I’m half-dragon and can’t get a cutie mark.”
Derpy asks, “Wait did you just say that you’re a half-dragon?”
“Yes.”
“A fire-breathing dragon,” she asks, “like the kind that lives in mountains?”
“No frost dragon the kind that lives in the frozen north and can lower the temperature of the air around them.”
“Oh okay,” Derpy hooves over a muffin, “heres your muffin.”
“Thank you,” I say as I start to eat the muffin, “So whats the rent.”
“Twenty bits a week due by Friday, since its Saturday this week can be free. Does that sound good?”
“I find it acceptable, do know if I can get a job anywhere?”
Dinky chimes in, “I think I heard that Twilight Sparkle wanted help running the library and she will be back in town on Monday, you can ask her then.”
“Think that I might just do that, Derpy is there anything else I should know. I’m guessing that your room and Dinky’s room are off limits.”
“Yep and in Ponyville curfew is an hour after sundown.”
“What’s the punishment for breaking curfew.”
“A two hundred bit fine.”
“Okay good to know,” I look out the window, “I’m heading to bed, my room is the first to the left?”
“Yep.”
“Just making sure,” I say as I head upstairs, “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
I walk into my room and it contains a nice rug, a bookshelf with at least 5 books, a twin sized cloud-bed, a small writing desk with, and fairly large chest with the key on top. Reaching into my saddlebags I pull out a picture of me with a small arctic fox and set it on the desk, I also pull out a small alchemy set and put on the table planning to set it up in the morning. With this done I pick up the key and put it my saddlebag and go to bed.
