Cracked Statue
With autumn springing into high, the land in Canterlot began to change. The trees were changing the leaves into shades of orange, red, and yellow. The month of October had came and it was a quick change from the warm weather remaining from the summer.
Adagio Dazzle's heels ran across the sidewalk, running as fast as she could. Or as fast as her legs could pick up, what with running in high heeled shoes. And right behind her was Aria and Sonata who were struggling to keep up with her. The three of them received a very bizarre phone call from one of their friends not too long ago.
"We just got your call! What's the emergency? Is Princess Trixie finally back?" Adagio asked.
"Is an escaped convict out of jail that we need to apprehend!?" Aria panicked.
"Did we rob the bank again!?"
Everyone stared at Sonata.
"What? We robbed banks plenty of times before, I wasn't sure if we did it again."
Adagio shook her head. "No, no we didn't. And please do not announce something like that in public."
"Oh. Oops," Sonata blushed.
"Anyways, you girls called us?"
"Yeah, but its for something else..." Bon Bon replied. She urged them to stand where she and the others were standing. As they turned to where they were, all of them gasped. Now they understood. On the side of the Wondercolt statue, there were a few gaping cracks on the side. But it wasn't just that, there were some soft glowing coming from within the cracks. Like a power source was hidden underneath.
"What's going on here?"
"We don't know. We never saw this before."
"Was there always this crack in the statue?" Adagio asked.
"Well, yeah. We saw a few dents, a few cracks, but it wasn't anything big to worry about. But ever since our battle with Sunset Shimmer, we started to see... well, this."
Adagio and her sisters shook her head.
"Has anything happened since you found it?"
"No. Not a thing. But I can't help but feel as if there's something bad going to happen sooner or later," Lyra stated.
"We'll definitely have to keep it in check. How about we call someone, see if maybe they can patch up that hole?"
The girls shrugged, nodding.
"Very well. Its settled then. We call someone, they'll fix it. If they can't, then we'll all come back to take a look at it."
With nothing else they could do, the girls walked away together. But Adagio definitely had a bad feeling stirring up in her stomach. She had never noticed that glaring detail on the statue before. It never occured to her before. She didn't even think about it. But then again, she had only just seen it. But would it get worse? Would magic leak from the statue, infecting their world?
Little did any of them notice the glow getting bigger from the statue. Two streams of blue and orange magic spat out from the cracks, and buzzed up into the skies zooming right into the city...
2:00 AM
Canterlot Prison. Holding all of Canterlots number 1 criminals and fugitives. Ranging from small time pick pockets to hardcore murderers. While not the best prison in the world, it was certainly like any other. Full of criminals who would love to kill and attack anyone who's new. And it was also full of people who would love nothing more than to escape back into the free world, to escape their shackles.
Tonight, the chance would come. A siren began to blare, accompanied by flashing lights. Security guards and containment teams moved into positions, ready to handle whatever the trouble was that came. The teams approached the door, all standing steady.
"Anyone know what's going on in there?" The first guard asked.
"Another riot, probably. But they said to stand ready, something about prisoners trying to make a break for it."
Just then, a man came running out of the doors, panting and holding onto his legs, tryign to catch his breath.
"What's going on in there?"
"The prisoners... they're escaping! And, oh god... They... they've... they've..."
"Spit it out, what's going on in there?"
"One of them multiplied! There's dozens of them in there, there wasn't this many prisoners in there! I don't know what I saw, but I swear one of them just... split into 12!"
The guards looked at each other with a confused look.
"And, oh god, one of them... one of them flashed a light into one of the guards eyes, and... and... and they--"
The man couldn't finish his statement. All at once, they were blown away by an explosion that was set off. The explosion destroyed the front entrance, and it knocked all of the guards out, making them fall and hit the walls.
A crazed look came to one of the prisoners faces. A girl with red hair and pale skin, who's smile was so big it was like she was ready to snap. Her eyes were twitching, and one of the frames in her glasses was cracked. The sleeves of her prison jumpsuit had been cut off, including a part of her pant legs.
"We're out... we're finally out!"
A few of some of the female prisoners ran past her, running out into the streets, fleeing the prison. Moon Dancer watched as they all ran for their lives.
"Well done, Moon Dancer," a calm and soothing voice replied.
Moon Dancer looked behind her. In the shadows, she could see a woman leaning against a part of the destroyed wall with her arms crossed. She couldn't see her face, but she could surely tell what she was thinking.
"Oh, well, thanks. See, I told you, I told you we would escape, you never doubted me for a second, no one ever doubts me--"
"Oh shut up."
Another prisoner walked out, this time wearing a mask. A skin-tight cotton mask with blue eye pieces covering the eyes, and a small metallic piece over the mouth, distorting her voice.
"Do you ever shut up, Moon Dancer?"
"Now, now, young one. We should be thankful. Moon Dancer's ambitions are part of what allowed us to escape."
Moon Dancer's grin grew even wider, the insanity in her growing even more.
"But I'm afraid all good things must come to an end."
Moon Dancer froze.
"What?"
"I'm sorry to tell you this Moon Dancer, but my goals are much more different than yours. Your lust to get revenge on those girls you described has blinded you from the true potential of your wit. You fail to understand the pure power you can have at your fingertips if you go right to the very core... which is why I'm afraid you are of no use to me anymore."
"What!? But I did everything you asked, I could be of valuable service to you!"
"Maybe... but you're a lost cause, Moon Dancer. But I appreciate all of your help and dedication..."
Moon Dancer slowly backed away, for once feeling fear. But before she could even run, she felt a sharp electric buzz zap into her neck, making her scream and spasm out of control. Her body fell on the ground, still convulsing from the electricity buzzing in her.
"God, she was irritating."
The woman rolled her eyes. "Now may I ask, why did you steal that mask? What purpose do you have for it?"
"I prefer to keep myself away from the spotlight."
"And how is wearing a black mask with a voice distortion going to help you?"
The masked girl stopped.
"...Are we going to stand here and waste time, or are we going to finally enact this plan of yours?"
The older woman chuckled. "Don't worry, we will."
The adult stepped out of the shadows, entering in the moonlight. A smirk crept on her lips as she looked at the night sky.
"Let us go get the boys back. We have much work to do..."
