Previous ChapterNext Chapter"So, what did you think?" A voice asked from behind Twilight, she turned around and saw Sunset looking at her with hope, her smile wide. Most of the corwd have left by now so the venue was pretty much empty. Twilight tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and smiled softly up at her crush.
"I thought you were fantastic! I never knew you were so talented,"
Sunset went bright red at the compliment, putting her hands on her cheeks to try and cool them down.
"Awh stop, I'm blushing! But I'm glad you enjoyed it!"
"That I did, and you weren't awful so I guess you aren't entilted to buy me dinner," Twilight could of physically kicked herself right there and then.
"Good job, Sparkle. Now she won't take me dinner cause I had to open my big fucking mouth!" Twilight mentally scoled herself.
Sunset's face twisted and shook her head in response to the statement.
"Oh no you don't, you're not getting out of dinner that easily, Sparky!"
"S-Sparky?" Twilight managed to squeak out, her eyes wide.
"Yeah, calling you Twilight all the time takes too long. Plus it sounds so formal, might as well call you Miss Sparkle-" Sunset paused for a moment and did a mock bow to which Twilight giggled at "-so I've decided that giving you a nickname makes our lives easier. Why? Not a fan?"
"No! I mean no I'm not not a fan of the nickname! Just never really been given a nickname by someone that wasn't my older brother,"
"And that was?"
"Twily,"
"I'll be sure to not use that one as it will probably make things very awkward," Sunset snorted, crossing her arms over her chest.
Twilight shook her head and cleared her throat.
"So..dinner?"
Sunset's head snapped up and nodded.
"Yes, right, I know a little resturant not too far from here. You like Japanese food?"
"Very much so," Twilight responded, following Sunset but not before waving goodbye to the rest of the girls and expressing her thanks for the night.
"That's handy then!" Sunset beamed, walking over to a motorcycle and handing Twilight a helmet. Twilight held the helmet and gave Sunset a confused look.
"I thought you said it wasn't too far,"
Sunset looked over her shoulder and smiled warmly.
"Yeah, by motorcycle. Sorry, did I not mention that?"
"It didn't come up.." Twilight mumbled nervously. Sunset lifted her head to look her in the eyes.
"Hey..it'll be okay. Trust me,"
Twilight looked into the girls eyes and didn't see a trace of a lie anywhere. She took a deep breath and nodded, giving Sunset a small smile.
"Alright, I trust you,"
"Good! Now hop on," Sunset spoke, putting her helmet on and placing each leg either side of the motorcycle. Twilight followed what Sunset did soon after.
"Although if I die, I'm 100% coming back to haunt you,"
"Understandable, you have my blessing on that front," Sunset laughed before noticing Twilight kinda just sat awkwardly on the back of her bike. "Put you arms around me,"
"Excuse me?" Twilight asked a little too urgently.
"You'll fall off if you sit like that while we are on the move. Put your arms around my waist," Sunset said in a firm tone, clearly worried about the wellbeing of the book worm. Twilight hesitated for a moment before doing as she was told, slipping her arms around Sunset's waist. She relaxed a little when she inhaled, subtly, Sunset's scent.
Rose's and smoke. An odd combination to say the least but Twilight found it somewhat comforting.
"Ready?" Sunset asked, turning her head slightly.
"As I'll ever be," Twilight responded, tightening her grip around Sunset's waist a little.
Sunset revved the engine and began to make her way out of the carpark. Once out, she double checked on Twilight before making her way down the road. Sunset started off slow at first but began to speed up a little as they hit the main road.
Twilight had been taking deep breaths while they were on the move, trying to calm her nerves to no anvil. That was, until, she saw the the view. The city skyline in the distance was illumanted by neon lights, coming from building signs and advertising, and it took her breath away. She sighed and relaxed into Sunset, resting her head against Sunset's back.
Although Twilight couldn't see, Sunset's lip curved into a smile as she felt the book worm relax into her. She pondered for a moment while at a stop light and sighed internally. She was falling for Twilight and she was falling hard and fast with no sign of her feelings slowing down or going away. She knew she wanted to be with Twilight but she also knew one thing, or person for this matter, would try and stand in the way of her happiness. Her face screwed up at the thought of her ex, shaking her head lightly as she noticed the light was green and set off down the road again.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Sunset parked her motorcycle in front of the lovely looking Japanese resturant, tapping Twilight's hand.
"You can let go now," Sunset spoke softly.
"Huh...Oh! S-sorry," Twilight stuttered, removing her hands a little too quickly. Sunset climbed off the motorcycle and removed her helmet, shaking her head and letting her hair flow. She then offered her hand to Twilight to help her off.
"Aren't you chivalrous, Miss Shimmer?" Twilight teased, taking the older girls hand and climbing off the vehicle before removing her own helmet.
"Not towards most people but for you, Miss Sparkle, I've made an exception," Sunset winked but instead of Twilight blushing and going giddy like she normally would, Twilight smirked and slid her arm around Sunset's own.
"Oh then I must be speical. If this goes well, then I'll show you just how special I think you are,"
Sunset, in that moment, became the human equivalent of the sun as her body temperature shot up and her face went a bright red.
"I..I uh..can't..words," Sunset attempted, looking away from Twilight. Twilight started laughing, rubbing Sunset's arm.
"I'm just teasing! It's good to know how to get to you thought," Twilight spoke smungly, to which Sunset just glared at her.
"You are an evil, evil woman,"
"You're not wrong," Twilight grinned. Sunset couldn't help but smile at the shorter girl attached to her arm, opening the door for her.
"Why thank you," Twilight mock bowed.
"You are most welcome," Sunset joined in the mock bow, the both of them laughing as they entered the resturant.
"Hello, how may I-Sunset?" The girl at the podium stared in shock before a huge smile spread across her lips.
"Hey, Wallflower," Sunset grinned, letting go of Twilight for a moment to give the girl a hug. Twilight swore she felt her eye twitch as a pang of jealousy shot through her body like a lightning bolt.
"I'll get you and your friend here the best table!" Wallflower smiled as led the two girls to their table. The two girls sat down; Wallflower handed them their menus and walked off so they could decide.
"So..how do you two know each other?" Twilight asked, trying not to let her jealousy show in her tone. Sunset glanced up from her menu, noticing her change of tone but not showing that she knew.
"I used to work here back in High school as a means to earn extra cash. Wallflower and I didn't start off on the right foot but we soon became good friends and when I found out she needed a job, I got her one here and by the looks of it she's made the most of it," Sunset responded with a smile. Twilight's features softened as she glanced over at Wallflower, who was talking to some guests.
"She looks like shes a manager of some sort,"
"I think she is, good for her," Sunset nodded, putting her menu down "Have you decided what you want?"
"Not yet..I'm trying to find the cheapest thing they have..." Twilight replied, scanning over the menu and biting her lip at the prices. Sunset placed her finger at the top of Twilight's menu and pushed it down slightly so she could look Twilight in the eye, her eyebrow raised and a frown on her face.
"There will be none of that. You are not putting me out of pocket by ordering what you want. So order what you want and however much you want because this is a date and as the one who initaited the date, I am paying for everything,"
Twilight tried to respond but Sunset put a finger up and shook her head.
"Nope, no excuses. I'm being dead serious here,"
Twilight closed her mouth but smiled at the girl across from her.
"That is very sweet of you, Sunset. Thank you,"
"Don't mention it, Sparky," Sunset grinned, closing her menu "Let me know when you are ready to order,"
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
About an half an hour passed and they had finally got all the food they ordered. Twilight found out that Sunset could eat enough to feed a small village which she found wonderfully attractive for some reason.
"So tell me a little more about yourself, Sunset," Twilight asked. Sunset's head snapped up with her eyes wide as her cheeks her puffed out, full of food. Twilight snorted and let out a laugh at the sight. Sunset narrowed her eyes and swallowed her food.
"Aha, very funny, Sparkle. Next time you have an embarrassing moment, I'm going to take a photo of it,"
"Yeah, good luck with that one," Twilight smiled with a way that said 'try me bitch' "But seriously, spill,"
Sunset leant back into her chair and went to open her mouth but closed it instantly as she continued to think.
Twilight saw her struggling and decided to help.
"How about you tell me why you never take off your jacket or why you always wear long sleeved tops?"
Sunset paused for a moment and looked down, fiddeling with the sleeve of her jacket before mumbling something.
"What was that?" Twilight asked softly.
"I don't want to scare you off," Sunset replied, a little louder.
Twilight thought for a moment before it clicked as to what Sunset might mean.
"Oh I'm so sorry I didn't mean to offend you! But do you have-"
"-scars? Yes but thats not why since they are barely noticeable anyway,"
"So what are you hiding that you are certain will scare me off? I can almost guarantee that it won't,"
"Almost?"
"Hush," Twilight giggled slightly which caused Sunset to force a small smile, taking a deep breath.
"You promise you won't leg it?" Sunset asked.
"Cross my heart,"
Sunset nodded and went to remove her jacket. Twilight gasped when it was fully removed while Sunset avoided eye contact until Twilight said something.
Sunset's arms were covered in tattoos and Twilight had to stop herself from fanning herself off because boy howdy was she sweating over the sight. As if Twilight thought Sunset couldn't get any hotter, she pulls out tattoos.
Goddamn it.
"I knew this was a mistake," Sunset grumbled, going to put her jacket back on.
"No!" Twilight exclaimed quickly, putting her hand on the hand that Sunset was using to reach for her jacket. Sunset looked on at Twilight with suprise to which Twilight could only shoot an awkward smile.
"Sorry. I was just admiring them all. I don't get why you though they would scare me off,"
"I just assumed you'd think they were tacky and gross,"
"I think tattoos are a form of art. They suit you well and I would never think they were tacky,"
Sunset put her jacket down and smiled brightly, putting her hand on the table; Twilight's hand still over the top of hers. Twilight looked at Sunset with a dreamy gaze, smiling back at the girl.
"Ahem," A voice coughed in front of the table. Sunset and Twilight looked up to Wallflower standing over the table with a huge smirk on her face. Sunset raised an eyebrow, Twilight gave an equally confused look until they both looked down at their hands. They both removed their hands at the same time and rubbed her back of their hands while their faces lit up red.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I was going to ask if you wanted the dessert menu to browse over while you finished you meals,"
"Y-Yes please. Thanks, Wallflower..." Sunset spoke quietly, extending her hand out to take the menu. Once the menu was in hand, Sunset retracted her hand and glared at Wallflower out of the corner of her eye. Wallflower just smiled and placed the other menu on the table for Twilight before waltzing off.
"So..more about yourself?" Twilight spoke up, trying to fill the awkward void that was just created.
Sunset looked up and breathed out her nose.
"Alright. Um, next to rock and metal and pop-punk, my favourite genre of music is EDM. Specifically House,"
"You're kidding,"
"God no. Give me anything with a good beat drop and I'm in love,"
"Not at all what I pictured you listening to in your spare time," Twilight leant on her right hand, her head tilted ever so slightly as she looked at Sunset. Sunset just shrugged and put her arm on the back of her chair.
"Yeah I get that alot. Unfortunatly the style I originally went for was looking like I'd body someone in a mosh pit,"
"Have you ever been to a rave?"
"Plently. They aren't nearly as nasty as people make them out to be,"
"Is that right?"
"That's right indeed," Sunset replied with a toothy smile. Twilight stared on for a moment before nodding, happy with the answer. Both girls took a moment to order deseart before Twilight started up again.
"What else?"
"I'm also heavily into scores for TV, Film and Games,"
"Really?"
"Yep! My ringtone is the Avengers theme,"
"Huh. And uh..who did the score for that?" Twilight challenged, leaning forward on the table with a smirk across her lips and a glem in her eyes. Sunset looked at the girl with a raised eyebrow before scoffing at her; leaning forward as well to look Twilight dead in the eye.
"Alan Silvestri. Who, also, did the scores for Ready Player One and Back to the Future,"
Twilight sat there dumbfound.
"Oh my good lord she's actually perfect," Twilight thought to herself, swallowing.
"Don't test my trivia, Sparky. I'm better than I look,"
They stayed silent for a moment while Sunset took a sip of her drink.
"I'm also a massive fan of Ariana Grande," Sunset spoke into glass, having to put it down to stop herself from dropping it after laughing at Twilight choking on her food at what she said.
Twilight put a hand to her chest to calm her breathing and actually swallow her food properly. Once settled, Twilight glanced at Sunset over the rim of her glasses only to see the girl with an innocent smile.
"Better?" Sunset asked as if she hadn't just caused the book worm to almost choke to death.
"You? You like Ariana Grande? You, miss badass biker babe, like Ariana Grande," Twilight just spoke in utter disbelief.
"Miss badass biker babe huh? I like that one~" Sunset purred at Twilight while shooting her a wink causing Twilight's breath to hitch. Happy with the reaction, Sunset continued.
"Yes, I like Ariana Grande. I think she's a wonderful person and she's incredibly talented. Not to mention super pretty,"
"I wholeheartedly agree with you," Twilight nodded in agreement, smiling softly at Sunset. Sunset smiled back before getting up.
"Where are you going?"
"Just to the bathroom, don't panic," Sunset replied with a chuckle, streching slightly before walking in the direction of the bathroom. Twilight didn't think Sunset would just bail from her date but Sunset leaving all her belongs at the table did help ease her constantly unsteady conscience.
"I've only seen her look at one other person like that," A voice spoke from beside Twilight, causing the girl to jump slightly. Twilight looked up to see Wallflower standing next to her but she was looking dead ahead to where the bathroom door was.
"I'm sorry?" Twilight asked in pure confusion.
Wallflower's eye shifted to look at Twilight very briefly before going back to the door. She breathed through her nose.
"Sunset has only looked at one other girl the way she's been looking at you tonight and...it did not end well,"
Twilight stared at Wallflower a little longer but sensed she wasn't done so she averted her gaze to the table, folding her hands.
"Sunset's ex is..a devil woman. She abused her emotionally and physically but nobody saw it until Sunset was broken in more ways than one. It took her so long to get back to being herself,"
"I think you have the wrong end of the stick. I don't like-"
"-cut the crap. I've seen the way you look at her too," Wallflower practically snapped which caused Twilight to flinch. She noticed this and sighed heavily.
"I'm sorry, Twilight. I'm just scared. I don't want to see Sunset hurt like that ever again,"
"I would never do anything to hurt Sunset," Twilight spoke softly, now understanding the standoffish nature of Wallflower.
"Thats what here ex said too..."
Twilight pursed her lips, twiddeling her thumbs before turning her head slightly to look at Wallflower.
"What's her name?"
"Twilight-"
"-if everything you said about how she had been looking at me and how I have been looking at her then don't I have the right to at least know this 'devil woman's name?"
Wallflower stared at Twilight, who stared back. Both girl were glaring at each other until Wallflowers eyes narrowed and she sighed heavily, giving up this fight.
"...Adagio,"
Twilight felt the colour drain from her face and her hands go clammy.
"A-Adagio. As in Adagio Dazzle of The Dazzlings? That Adagio?"
"The very same."
"I'm competing with a superstar..." Twilight said breathlessly, sinking into her chair and running a hand through her hair.
Wallflower glanced at her and raised an eyebrow.
"Former superstar,"
"Huh?"
"When was the last time you heard anything about The Dazzlings?"
Twilight pondered for a moment before tilting her head to look up at Wallflower.
"Not since their second album. When I finished high school my music taste changed rather dramatically,"
Wallflower turned to look at her, still keep an eye on the bathroom door.
"Then you are really far behind on news,"
"What could I of possibly missed?"
"Remember when I said Adagio abused Sunset?"
"Yes.." Twilight tensed a little, not liking where this conversation was going.
"Well Sunset was going to report it to the cops cause she'd finally had enough and it's domestic abuse but what Adagio did was hurt herself and pass it off as Sunset's doing. She posted pictures on all her social media and word quickly spread that Sunset was an abusive partner and not only blamed her, but The Rainbooms. Their fanbased plummented and they almost disbanned,"
Twilight listened with her mouth agap in shock and disgust.
"How could someone do that to the person they are supposed to love?"
Wallflower gritted her teeth and took a deep breath before continuing.
"Sunset got into trouble for something that wasn't her fault and she had never felt worse. She was trapped in that realtionship. Everytime she tried to leave, Adagio would hurt herself again and threaten to go to the cops and have her arrested. The only people who believed her were her boss at the shop, myself and the girls and it wasn't until Sonata came forward with evidence that things finally began to clear up,"
"Sonata? Adagio's back up singer?"
Wallflower nodded.
"Adagio was always horrid to that girl and Sunset was always there for her to help pick up the pieces. She treated Sonata like a little sister and Sonata adored Sunset so when she found out about the allegations surronding Sunset, she immediately found it suspious. So what she did was find as much evidence as she could to prove Sunset's innocence,"
"And did it work?" Twilight asked hopefully. Wallflower smiled softly.
"Yes. What really helped was that Sonata managed to get a video on her phone of Adagio grabbing Sunset by the neck and yelling at her and saying 'just try and leave! I'll just hurt myself more and cry wolf and everyone will eat it up because they see you as the fucking monster! I'm free as a bird and theres nothing you can do about it!',"
"Jesus chirst..."
"Yep. Sonata took it too the cops, along with all the other evidence, and they took matter into their own hands. They said to Sunset that if Adagio caused anymore trouble to herself or her friends that she let them know right away and they'll sort it out. They also apologised for accusing her so blindly at first,"
"And Sunset forgave them? I would of been livid at them!"
"Sunset was upset, sure, but she understood how it all looked so she was quick to forgive and forget. Word quickly spread about the true as well, across all social media platforms and not only did Sunset get her reputation back, she got more fans than ever as well as everyone aplogising for assuming it was all her and The Rainbooms skyrocketed in view and streaming numbers and fans so I guess it all worked out,"
"Yeah..I guess so,"
"So-"
"Hey guys, what are we talking about?" Sunset asked as she poked her head between Wallflower and Twilight causing both girls to jump back.
Wallflower's eyes darted everywhere until she finally took a moment to regain her composure.
"Nothing. I was just talking to Twilight about how I also like A Day to Remeber. What took you so long?"
Sunset's eyes drifted up to the celing and she licked her lips.
"Uh nothing important. Let's go back to the A Day To Remeber conversation,"
Wallflower, although shorter than her, stared Sunset down as a evil smile spread across her lips.
"..you were on your phone and your legs fell asleep, didn't they?"
Sunset could feel her face heat up, her head drooping as she crossed her arms in a strop.
"Shut up..."
Both Twilight and Wallflower laughed at this, Sunset glancing over to Twilight and smiling gently as she saw Twilight happy.
"We should probably get going anyway, there's one last thing I want to show Twilight before we head back so could I grab the bill?," Sunset asked, straightening up again. Wallflower nodded and waltzed off to get it.
"Are you sure about paying for it?" Twilight asked once again. Sunset sighed.
"Yes, Twi. I don't actually ever go out very often and when I do, it doesn't ever really require heaps of money, so I have a lot of money thats stored in my account and I can't think of anything else that I'd rather spend it on than dinner with a beautiful girl,"
Twilight just looked at Sunset with her mouth in a 'o' shape and she could feel the butterflies in her stomach go insane. Twilight's lips finally formed a smile, twirling her hair around her finger.
"You flatter me, Sunset Shimmer,"
"I'm glad. It means I get to see that award winning smile of yours!" Sunset winked, her attention turning to Wallflower as she came back with the bill. As Sunset paid for it, Wallflower gave Twilight a subtle thumbs up, to which Twilight returned.
"All done! Let's jet," Sunset spoke as she grabbed her jacket and turned to Twilight, holding her hand out to the girl. Twilight mock bowed and took Sunset's hand, both girls bidding Wallflower farewell.
"So. Where are you taking me?"
"You shall see,"
"Yeah, cause that doesn't sound creepy at all," Twilight snorted. Sunset gave her a bored look.
"Oh ha ha, that's real funny,"
"Thanks, I'm here all week,"
Sunset chuckled as she bopped Twilight on top of the head before handing her, her helmet.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Sunset pulled up her bike next to a nearby tree and helped Twilight off, both girls removing their helmets and placing them on the bike.
"So why did you bring me up onto a hill?" Twilight asked as she looked around. Twilight stared at the sky for a moment, the sky painted with stars and a moon that lit up the sky. She came back to earth when she noticed Sunset placing her jacket down on the grass, sitting down on it. Sunset twisted her head to look at Twilight over her shoulder and smile warmly.
"Come sit,"
Twilight blinked for a moment before joining Sunset.
"You didn't answer my question before,"
"Just wait alright? I promise it'll be worth it,"
Just as soon as she said that, Twilight heard a loud whistle and a bang. Her head snapped to the sky just in time to see where the noise came from, her eyes going wide.
Twilight watched as the second firework shot up into the sky and burst out into different colours and patterns, in awe of the sight.
Sunset turned her head slightly to see Twilight in a trance and let out a short laugh, leaning back on her hands. She continued to watch until she noticed Twilight shiver ever so slightly, wrapping her arms around herself. Sunset took it upon herself to shuffle closer and wrap a arm around the bookworms shoulders, rubbing her arm slightly.
Twilight looked over, Sunset meeting her eyes. Twilight smiled in thanks and turned her attention back to the sky to both, watch the fireworks and to hide her rising blush.
Sunset tried too keep her attention on the display but kept glancing to Twilight, biting her lip.
"Hey Sparky?"
"Yeah?" Twilight responded just loud enough for Sunset to hear, turning to look at Sunset only to meet her eyes again. Her..deep, beautiful cyan eyes. Twilight's breath hitched as she found herself in a trance.
"I...I just..." Sunset tried but found herself lost for words as she stared at the girl in front of her. Her breath quickened and she felt her throat go dry; her heard racing.
"..Fuck it," Sunset thought as she threw caution to the wind and leant in, capturing Twilight's lips in a soft kiss. Twilight's eyes went wide as she fell out of her trance and came back to reality. Sunset was kissing her. Sunset was kissing her!
Sunset was kissing her. Twilight's thoughts finally caught up with her as she felt Sunset pull away, her face red hot and her lips curled downwards into a frown as a moment of silence was brought on as the fireworks stopped.
"I shouldn't of done that. I-I'm so sorry, Twilight," Sunset whispered, looking down at her hands.
"Don't be,"
"Huh?" Sunset responded as she looked up in suprise. Twilight sat there, her breathing heavy as she leant forward ever so slightly.
"Kiss me."
"A-are you sure? I don't-" Sunset was stopped as Twilight placed a finger to her lips, a bright smile erupting from her face.
"I'm sure. I've never been so sure about anything in my life," Twilight spoke with a voice like honey. Sunset licked her lips and nodded, smiling back.
She didn't need to be told twice.
Sunset pulled Twilight closer and kissed her again as she was told, closing her eyes as she eased into it. Twilight smiled against her lips and kissed the flame haired girl back, also closing her eyes. Just as they kissed, the fireworks started up again for the grand finale.
Lips moved together in rhythm as the two girls remained there in that perfect moment, just them. Sunset was the first to pull away as she didn't want to push her luck. She smiled as she rested her forehead against Twilight's, only just opening her eyes. Twilight opened hers after Sunset and looked at the girl with love and admiration as the fireworks had reached its pinnacle and ended.
"That could of gone so badly wrong..." Sunset spoke quietly, her hand cupping Twilight's cheek gently. Twilight leant into her hand and place her hand on Susnet's outstreched arm.
"But it didn't and..I'm glad it didn't,"
"As am I," Sunset replied, stroking Twilight's cheek with her thumb "So..would you like to..maybe...I dunno..be..my girlfriend?"
Twilight shook her head in dissapointment as the girls cluelessness and captured the taller girls lips in another, short, sweet kiss. Sunset's eyes went wide as she just sat there and before she could kiss back, Twilight pulled away again before kissing the biker girls nose and giggling at Sunset's reaction.
"As if it wasn't obvious before, yes, Sunset Shimmer, I'd love to be you girlfriend,"
Sunset smiled so widely, Twilight thought her jaw unhinged. Twilight moved to sit in between her new girlfriends legs, leaning back into Sunset. She lifted her head up to look at Sunset only for Sunset to look down and nuzzle her nose against Twilight's.
"Let's just stay here a bit longer," Twilight suggested. She assumed Sunset had already agreed with her as she wrapped her arms around her waist in a warm embrace but she also voiced her confirmation.
"I don't think there's anywhere I'd rather be right now than right here with you,"
