Load Full StoryNext ChapterFinally I was home. After a long day of work I can finally sit down and relax.
My name is Arina Stella. 16 years old and i've finally gotten a chance to sit back and relax without my parents digging a foot up my ass for slouching. My family comes from a long line of Jarheads. My father's a Drill Sergeant and my mom's a pilot, even my brother's in the Marines! He work's as a field medic though, which I found odd, considering he's so pugnacious and impatient for whiners. But none of that matters now. I can rest and play my new copy of Call Of Duty: Black Ops on my PS3. Mother and father are off on vacation, and while my brother's stationed in Iraq, I have the house to myself. Other than the occasional visit from Mr. Ivan Cole , Dad's retired friend, I'm completely free till December 24th. I leaned back in my red beanbag chair and was ready for some Free-For-All.
~
It had been a while since I last checked the clock. What time was it? I leaned over on the side of my beanbag and looked at my phone. It was already 7:30. Hmm. Maybe mom was right. Maybe I do spend to much time playing video games. I need to get out more. And with that, I got up and went upstairs to the ugly greens and browns of clashing colors. I forgot. Dad's secret over comes over every week it seems to, 'express herself.' It was odd how Dad had eyes for a teen, even if she is 19, He's married! As I walked out of the living room into a Victorian hallway made of Ivory. Ivory? seemed odd to make a hallway out of Ivory to me. I slipped on some black sneakers. I wasn't going anywhere special. Probably just around the block or to Molly's. Her family is kinda in cahoots with our, now that John, my brother, has been dating Maria for so long. He's bound to propose to her soon. Or maybe she'll prepose, you never know with her. she keeps it on the down-low now, but when she was little, she was abducted by aliens or something because she wouldn't stop blabbing about flying through space with this one guy she calls 'The Doctor.'It was weird, she only stopped talking about a year ago.
Before I knew it, i was already on 30th street. Home of the Fridays. I walked up the steep marble steps to her door. I rung the doorbell and after of an eternities of seemed like crashes and footsteps Molly emerged from her house.
"Oh, uh, hey Arina! What's up?" Her face was red and her hair was in a giant tan fit along with her drowny light hazel eyes. She had a light tan on her body other tan on her chest and waist. She wore a light shirt with long jeans most of the time. Whenever I came to her house when her parents weren't home she was always like this.
"Hey. What're you doing? What's that smell?" I took a light whiff as I tried to figure it out. It was a weird, indescribable smell that I may have smelt once before when I was little.
"What? What smell?" She made a uneasy smile before continuing, "I've been trying a new perfume, if that's what your asking." She smoothed her hair back along her head into a long line to her shoulders. "Come in, I'll get some tea for you."
~
About an hour later we were talking about how it was basically impossible for Shepard to survive Mass Effect 2's beginning.
In space, If there's no pressure to hold your face together when you hold your breath, wouldn't your head explode? Molly always wanted to study space physics. I would've never even thought of something like that.
"Well, I think I'mma head home. It's kinda late."
"Yeah, I guess your right." She stood up and walked along me to the door. As we neared the door, what sounded like a gunshot was heard from the door.
"Are you, uh, sure you wanna go? Sounds like something's going on." She had a genuinely worrisome expression on her face.
I couldn't help but laugh. "I'll be fine. No one's gonna shoot a 16 year old girl."
She stared at me like i was crazy. "Who told you that joke?" She crossed her arms and looked at me like i was running away from home.
"I'll be fine. If anything happens I'll come back here ok?" I tried to put a reassuring smile on my face, but it seemed to do the opposite, as for she stood at her door watching me until I escaped from her eye view around a corner. It was only about a block to my house when I smelt something burning. Rubber? I had no I idea. I looked into a alleyway, seeing nothing but a dumpster and a few trash bags. That smell would not stop bothering me though, and something felt wrong with this alley. I slowly walked down the alley when I noticed on of the bags were pierced. Pierced? Was this the item that got shot? Maybe this was caused by a murder?! Maybe the body was in the bag! Ever since i was a little girl i would watch dragnet with my father on TV. Ever since then I've wanted to be a detective when I grow up. I scanned my surroundings and decided to look in the bag. There was no blood, or even a body. All I saw was a odd necklace with a fire ball and a purple gem in the middle. It was awfully pretty to be in the dump. I decided i would keep it and try it on. When I slipped the necklace over my head, it tightened, and suddenly, It was all black.
