Thank you for taking the time to read this, i appreciate it more than you realize) Prologue: What lies at the end of the tunnel Breathing slowly, i try to settle my heart to a more stable rate. This was “Official” First Contact with them, a whole room full of em’. “I Don’t know if i can do this.” my hands are shaking, my knees bouncing with nervous energy. A black chitinous hoof touches my shoulder from my hunched position. “You’ve got this Z. Don’t forget, we’re right here if you need us.” I glance up, seeing my friends. Charma, a changeling. Her body a sleek black chitinous outer with blue eyes and a light blue underside. She wears a smile for me, though i can sense that she is nervous -even more so- as i am. Bulk, a minotaur. His upper torso a deep brown tan with Grey fur. His arms are crossed in the usual fashion, and a grim look on his face. “If any of them hurt you in anyway, just call and i'll pummel em.” Prim, a griffon. With fur a bright white and plumage a black inky colour. She sits on her haunches, with a suppressed smile she tries to hide. Fidgeting all the while. Keenwa, a cat person. His coat an olive brown. Sits beside me, a supportive arm over my shoulders. “You’ve got this. We all believe in you.” And finally. Pebble, a breezie. His body a light green and dark red. Stands perched atop my head. Looking down into my eyes. “Stop, being, a wimp, already, and, get, out, there, already.” These are my friends, been that way since i first met all of them. . . with the occasional bump (more like roadblock). I am Zero, a human with white skin with a short cut black mop of hair. My eyes a brilliant blue surrounding a white iris. “Thanks guys. . . alright, i think im ready.” With a few more supportive pats, hugs and the one kiss i got from Charma, i walk over to the doors separating me from 30+. . . other humans. Stealing myself one last time, i nod to the “Guard” and he clicks the radio in his collar. “He’s ready.” The chattering and babble from the room ahead of me deadens, and the doors open from the inside. Calmly walking into the room, keeping my vision to my front. I walk up a small set of stairs onto a platform towards a stand. . . at the very front of it. Reaching the stand, i tap the microphone twice. “Is this on?” After a moment, i clear my throat. “Hello, people of earth. My name is Zero, and let me be the first to say. . .” Chapter 2: First Day[7 years later] The sun shone brightly, the sky bare of naught but pegasi and the occasional rogue cloud. Bright Light stood in front of the school gate, clad in his Armour, a small knife was in place of his usual spear. Walking through the gate and towards the main building, taking in the area around him and his “Tail”. The playground was full of ponies and their foals, watching over them while they played and mingled with each other. Stepping through the front double doors, Bright observes the area around the entryway. There were two stairs that led up to the first floor, and spiral staircases to his left and right, leading to us read areas. In Between the front staircases was the reception desk, behind it was an elderly mare with a cream coat and yellow eyes, her mane a snowy silver colour, due to her apparent old age. Trotting up to the desk, the mare looks up from a puzzle she was doing. “Ooooo, such a strapping young stallion. What can i do for such a handsome colt?” Rolling his eyes, Bright stares at the receptionist. “Very funny Miss Reciter, good to see your bad humour hasn't changed over the years you old broomstick.” “Hehehe. Its good to see you again Light.” Leaning over the counter, Bright give Rolling Reciter a hug, which she returned in kind. “I see that times have been doing you well, a Royal Guard? I thought your dream was to be a treasure hunter.” “WAS, Miss Reciter. WAS.” “My my, how things change” “To answer you previous question, im here to drop off my-” “Oh goodie. I finally get to meet the little tike. . . where is he?” “He’s right h-” Turning around to introduce his son, but noticing that he wasn’t behind him. “. . . Oh no.” ____________________________________________________________________________ “This place is big, bigger than our house. Why did dad bring us here in the first place?” The child thought to themselves. As they curiously wandered around their new surroundings. Taking in everything that was new and ‘storing’ it for later. Standing behind a tree -out of site from anypony that might see him- he watched a group of other foals play with each other, smiling and laughing. . . he wanted to play as well. But his “Imaginary friend” told him that he shouldn't be here. That he should be home, away from everypony. . . he didn't like it when there was lots of strangers near them. Something about a Threat Level? So he settled for watching from a distance. Then he heard somepony crying. He looked behind him but saw nothing. Then a group of colts ran out from behind a small line of shrubs, a unicorn holding a Teddy Bear. A filly bursted out of the brush behind them. “GIVE IT BACK” She said, crying while she chased them. They began throwing it between themselves, the filly in the middle not being able to grab it. “Why should we, your just a stupid earthpony filly with no friends.” The colts all laughed and their apparent Leaders joke. After a small while, the Unicorn hit the filly when she lunged for her toy. Not hard enough to do any serious damage, but enough that she fell over. Cradling her cheek with a hoof, she curled up and sobbed. “Come on guys, let’s get away from this bitch before we catch cooties.” They all laughed again, walking away. The Unicorn throwing the Bear into the tree canopy above him. After a while the filly walked over to the tree, tears staining her cheeks, making them damp. Jumping up, trying in vain to reach her beloved possession with all her might. Giving up and collapsing onto her rear, she sniffled and hiccuped as she felt a new wave of tears coming on. She heard something fall from infront of her. Looking up, she say her beloved Teddy Bear. Lunging at it, she scooped it up in her forelegs, cradling it and hugging it close. Looking up, the filly saw something quickly move to the opposite site of the trunk. “He- *hiccup* hello?” The filly said. “Is anypony there?” Silence was spoke to her. A determined face falling on her as she stood up and walked over the other side of the trunk. Looking up into the canopy, she strained her eyes to see past the sun that shone through leaves. Lifting a foreleg up, she blocked what sunlight she could. That was when she saw him. A small creature was up in the trees looking down at her with a scared face. “Hi there” The Filly waved her hoof at him. Shying away from her, the creature move around the trunk once more. “Hey, don’t be scared. I won't hurt you. I promise i won’t.” After a small while, their head slowly came from the other side, one eye being visible. “Hi, my name’s Fall Hooves, what’s yours?” The Filly questioned them. “. . . Ze-Zero, My name’s Zero” The “Colt” replied. “Why are you up there?” “Because those Colts threw your teddy bear up here. I wanted to get it for you, since Earth Ponies can't climb trees very well without something to help them.” “. . . How did you get up there?” “I climbed up, the branches were low so i could” “Can you come down here?” The colt said nothing, thinking to himself. He began his descent. Getting so see him fully. She was very surprised at what she saw. He wasn’t a pony AT ALL, he was something like the minotaurs she read in her stories, but without the horns or tail. . . or hooves. When he got to the ground, the stood tall over her by a at least eight hoof lengths. He was as tall as her father, a bit shorter actually. “Wooow, your huuuuge.” “Thanks?” Before they could continue on, a voice sounded from behind him. “ZERO, WHERE ARE YOU COLT.” Flinching, Zero turned and said back. “Over here dad.” The Fall saw the Zero’s father round the main building of the school, a concerned look on his face. Galloping towards the pair, the Guard embraced Zero in a crushing hug. “Don’t do that to me colt, you nearly-” “‘Gave me a heart attack’” “Don’t get smart with me colt, you know how i get when you disappear randomly like that. . . i’m just glad your safe.” Wrapping his arms around his father, Zero nuzzled into his mane. “I know, dad” “I know you know that, son” Separating from the embrace, Bright looked behind Zero at Fall. “Who’s this pretty Filly?” “DAD!” Chuckling, Bright got up and ruffled Zero’s hair with a hoof. “Well it’s good to see you making friends so fast Zero.” Fall wasn’t paying attention to their conversation, instead focusing on him. Zero. The warmth she felt from him came off in waves like at the beach. She smiled a little, her cheeks grow hot. She liked him. She liked him ALOT. . . . And that made her afraid. Author's Note (Note: You actually made it this far. . . wow, i must be doing SOMETHING right then.) Chapter 3: Grown, as one.[8 years later, The Present] The room was beginning to warm from Celestia's sun, filtering through the windows, bathing the room in a warm, inviting orange. Thudding can be heard from down the hall from his bedroom, the room itself filled with odds and ends. A large bed, with the largest sized pony mattress available commercially. It was covered in blankets and pillows, all of them a snow white in colour. A desk with assorted books and trinkets from adventures he’d gone on up until now. A picture on top of the bedside table showed him and his marefriend smiling, the picture had been taken from a carnival a few moons ago. A letter rested upon the desktop, the words “ACCEPTED: ROYAL SCOUTING CORP” in red ink. Moving on to the hallway to the rest of the house and over the the workout room. A punching bag flies across the doorway and into the opposing wall with a crash bang clatter. The bag was a mess, in three distinct pieces, the internals spilt every which way, the stuffing flung across the room making a massive mess. Zero began some pull ups, his goal being 200 before before he started on the pushups than situps. He had to get into shape, he wasn’t strong enough. It was never enough. It never was. No matter how vigours or long or intense the workout be, he could never get any more fit than he currently was. He would get past it though, and become even strong- A pair of hooves wrap themselves around his midsection as he went down for the next pullup. “Your working yourself into ruin, you know that right?” Sighing, Zero drops from the bars and into a crouch. Embracing his mare with a hug of his own. Taking a deep breath from her mane as he tried to settle his beating heart. It always did the trick. “I know Fall. I just want to be-” “ ‘At my peak’, i know that honey. You tell me that everytime we have this conversation.” “And i can always rely on you to break me from the habit of driving myself into oblivion.” “Hmm” They stayed like that for a minute, just enjoying each others presence. “What are you doing up this early anyways, it’s not like you fall” “Oh it’s nothn-” “Don't BS me. This is the 10th time this month Fall. What’s going on with you.” Fall broke off from him. “You wouldn’t understand.” “Not if you don’t explain what’s going on” Zero took one of her hooves in his hand and cupped her cheek with the other. Turning her face so that she was looking directly at him. “Come on Fall. You can trust me. I’ve always been there for you, this time will be no different. I swear it.” Fall contemplated that for a moment, leaning her head into his hand. “I know Z. . . it’s just that. . . well i. . .” Tears begin to well in her eyes. Zero pulled her into a hug again as she began to sob a small bit. Burying her muzzle into his chest. “I’m scared, i don't want to lose you Z.” “Come on Fall, this is me were talking about he-” “IT’S NOT ABOUT THE STUPID SCOUTING CORP~. . . its something worse. . .” “Well tell me then. I swear- PINKIE swear on it.” Fall looked up at him, her eyes boring into his own in search of any ill intent. There was none to be found, only loving warmth and a genuine smile without teeth. “. . . alright.” Booping her nose with an outstretched finger, Fall’s nose scrunched up at the still strange feeling. “Youse your big pony voice.” Fall, smiling bashfully, repeats. “Alright.” “Alright what?” “Alright you big idiot, i'll tell you what's wrong. But. . . can we do it later tonight. After dinner. . . please?” Reaching up and scratching behind her right ear, Zero smiles. “Anything for you my love.” ____________________________________________________________________________ Giving one last wave to Fall, Zero takes the short walk through ponyville's mane’ street, receiving a wave and a few good mornings from the towns folk he passed. He could name them all. The Flower sisters. Roseluck, Daisy and Lily. Tended their store, Lilly and Daisy working behind the counter in the store propper while Roseluck manned the front counter. Giving and receiving three waves and a kissy face form them. Big Macintosh walked with a wagon attached to his trademark pony collar. Extending a fist in passing, Mac bumped it with his own. Bon Bon and Lyra relaxing on their favourite park bench. Lyra was always copying how he sat. Still didn't get a reason why apart from “Why not”> Twilight and spike exiting the town library. Probably off to get some groceries on off to some grand adventure. . . again. Twilight smiled at my sighting and spike lightly tapped his chest with a fist. He returned the gestures in kind. He saw many of the townsfolk as he makes his way to the to the recruitment office for the Royal Guard’s Ponies Division of Ponyville. Or RGPDP for short. Opening the door with a click, he steps into the building. The Unicorn mare behind the desk perking up at the new arrival with a raised eyebrow. “The dentist is that way.” She points towards the ponyville dental clinic. One that he knew all too well. “Thanks for the advice, i’ll consider going their again at some point in the future. But for right now, i think this needs to go through you first.” Reaching into the pocket of his white hoodie. He pulls out the Letter of Acceptance and hands it to her. Taking it in her magic she unfurls it and examines the big red writing, Eyes wide. “Oh wow. Ok, so your here for real then. Well Mr-” She looks over the parchment again. “-Zero, welcome to the Royal Guard Scouting Corp. I’ll notify the transport pegasi of your need for a chariot. Be back here by the end of the weekday. Ok?” Doing a half-assed salute in response to her question. Z replies with. “Mam yes mam.” “Right then, see you by the end of the weekday.” With that he takes his leave, now having a whole 6 days before he would be taken up to canterlot to begin his training and service. Mulling over his options for the moment, Z decided on heading towards the park. He hoped it would be fairly deserted but on the account that today was a public holiday, he didn't hold high hopes. ____________________________________________________________________________ Right on the money. The park was bustling with activity, with foals playing with balls and frisbees and other toys while the parents conversed with each other. The odd couple dotted the park at random intervals, each leaning against one another, or making out, or jogging along the pavement, or reading. He could smell a couple in some bushes. Shaking his head with a roll of his eyes. Zero walked up to a tree off to the side of the main ,active part of the park. Staring up at the nearest branch, easily 4 meters off the ground. Zero took his hands out of his pockets and walked away, getting about 5 meters away, he turned and sprinted at the trunk of the tree. Jumping at it from a meter away, he planted one foot onto the trunk and propelled himself up, latching onto the branch and pulling the rest of his form up. Sitting against the trunk with his feet laid on the branch. Leaning his head back and closing his eyes. He allowed his mind to reach out to something. A connection was made. Blue light, not unlike lightning. Shot through his “mind’s eye”. And a chain-reaction of explosions streaked through his vision coating it in blue that settled as fast as it started, the rest of the world now visible. . . through his closed eyes. Opening said eyes, he took in the world around him in staggering detail. He could see how many ponies were around him in a 500 meter radius, temperature, topography, humidity, a forecast for the day, his heart rate as well as how healthy he was. It was strange at first, scary even. The first time this happened was when he was only 8. It scared him so badly that he had to sleep with his father for a whole week. Chuckling at the memory, he observed his surroundings. Something caught his eye immediately. A Pony, at 12 years of age. Was being lead away from the park by another pony, he didn't share any kind of Genetics with her at all. Concerned, Zero got into a crouch position and leapt between the trees, using the branches as a walkway through the fairly thick canopy. “This can only end well” Thought Zero. Author's Note (Note: Really? Still reading! This MUST have something to do with those cupcakes that p- DID SOMEPONY CALL ME JESUS CHRIST PINKIE PIE) Chapter 4: JusticeZero had been following the stallion and filly for a good 20+ minutes, the pair and their tail now outside of the park. . . and slightly into the everfree. About 25 Meters into it. This stallion stopped and turned to stare at the filly. A sick grin overcoming his face. “M-m-mister, i want to go back to my parents now. T-this place is s-scary.” The filly pleaded. “But my dear-” he grabbed her by the throat and pinned her to the ground, and he began choking her. “-were just getting STARTED!”. The fillys eyes began to tear up as she tried to cry out for help. “Your going to feel so good around my-” A pair of arms wrap around his midsection, the sudden movement scaring the Stallion as he let go in shock. His world spun as he was thrown into a tree with what felt like the force of a minotaur. Landing upside down, the stallion looked at his assailant. His jaw tightened as he saw who it was. “Zero” “Jumper Kable” Zero knew this stallion all too well. He had been to his court case when he was 14, 2 years prior. He had been exiled to the wastes for. . . well let’s say he’s done some really FUCKED up shit. Which got him a one way ticket to the wastelands. And yet here he was. Trying to commit the. . . heinous crime yet again. “Come quietly and i'll consider NOT breaking one of your legs” “I'll still have three to ki-” “I wasn't referring to your actual legs” It took him a moment to process what he meant, before he bursted into laughter at the proposition. It ended as quickly as it started. Kables horn wreathed a gout of flame at Zero and the filly. After a few seconds of this, the flames ceased due to expending his mana. All that was left was a black scorch mark in place of the pair. Chuckling to himself, Kable turned and walked back to the park. “Stupid mon-” A massive weight landed on top of him, forcing him to the ground and pinning his fore hooves to his sides. “GET OFF OF ME” A blow to the back of the head rendered Kable unconscious. Zero sat atop of Kable, the filly on his back, hanging from his neck. He his head slightly to look her in the eyes. “You ok Sweetie Bell?” Sweetie buried her muzzle into his hair, nodding as she did so. “Thank you Z” ____________________________________________________________________________ Zero chucked Kable through the Guards Pony Barracks of Ponyville double doors. “He’s all yours AB” Cradling sweetie in his arms, Zero walked over to the park, where he saw a gathering of ponies all of them with concerned voices and looks. Zero gave a sharp whistle attracting the attention of all, but most notably an alabaster white Unicorn with purple mane and tail. Rarity, the element of Generosity. She galloped towards Zero. A relieved look on her face. “SWEETIE” “SIS” Zero put Sweetie down and she ran at Rarity, the two embracing in a hug. Rarity broke down into tears. Everypony present gathered around the two sisters before moving over to Zero, thanking him and asking where she went. Zero told them what had happened and got the reactions he expected from them. Stallions with angry scowls and the mares with shocked faces. Then everypony was relieved to know that he was behind bars. Everypony cheered and Zero just smiled. His smile turned into a grimace, as he dropped to one knee. Sweetie might of been unscathed. But only because he put himself between her and the flames. Everypony gasped as his back was exposed to them. It was covered in third degree burns, the skin burned off leaving only charred flesh. The last thing Zero saw before he passed out, was Rarity shouting out orders to everypony. Author's Note (Alright we really need to have a talk about you just randomly showing. . . oh, hey th- HI THERE DAMMIT PINKIE Chapter 5: Reprieve.Everything was going so well today. Fall was working the Apples Orchards. Bucking apples off trees into the buckets that were below them. She was just about to head home where her coltfriend would be waiting for her. . . with an expectant face no doubt. When a pegasus flew over from Ponyville and told her about what happened. He blood went cold at the information. Dropping her saddle-bags, Fall begin galloping towards the Ponyville Hospital. It took her a good 10 minutes of Galloping but she made it, the reception area was chockablock full of ponies. Upon hearing a new arrival, everypony looked up to see Fall. Sad and Sympathetic looks on their faces. A nurse from behind the front desk looks up and recognises her immediately, beckoning her towards the double hinged doors. Fall walks through them, following the nurse on the other side. It took no longer than 2 minutes, but it felt like an eternity for Fall, as she walked through the sterile hallway of the Hospital. They arrived at a single door, the bar above it reading “INTENSIVE CARE”. Her body trembled at the prospect of seeing her Coltfriend. . . her mate in such a. . . Steeling herself, she pushed the door open. The room itself was bland in design, a metal table next to the bed, a window at the far end, 4 beds with a good sized space between them. One bed had its curtains drawn around it. The outlines of ponies working and talking to one another as they tried to help. . . him. “Excuse me, Dr Degree. His Marefriend has arrived” Said the Nurse beside Fall. “Tell her she’ll have to wait, this is one of the worst cases of mana-flame i've ever-” “Shes here sir” “. . . fine then. But no longer than ten minutes” Fall and the Nurse walked up to the curtain. Fall reached forward, her hoof trembling as it drew nearer. She gently pulled it away. Anger, Sadness and Sorrow welled in her chest when she saw him. He was on his belly, his back exposed fully. It was Red and Angry, his flesh was. There was no blood, due to the veins being cauterised. There wasn't a trace of skin to be found on his back, and some of his favourite Hoodie was stuck to his back still, the remains in a bin next to the bed. But the worse thing of all. . . she could almost see one of the vertebrae sticking out from his back. It made her Sadness rear up and crash down, causing the dam that was building to break, and the tears flowed freely. The Nurse put a supportive hoof around her shoulder, giving a gentle but firm squeeze. Fall reached out for his hand and held it, never wanting to let go for even a moment. The doctor meanwhile, was continuing his ministrations of Healing Magic, his horn and eyes a translucent light green. “I’ve managed to stabilise him for now. But he’s got a long way to go until he’ll be able to move again. I’ve already put out a request to Canterlot for more powerful healers, as well as princess Twilight Sparkles assistance.” “This is all my-” “Ms Fall, how could you of possibly known about that monster Kable being in Ponyville. And even if you DID know, how do you think you would of stopped our resident knuckle head from NOT going to stop him. It’s just a part of his nature. . . but even i have to admit, this is by far the worst he’s ever sustained before” “. . .Will he be ok?” “I sure hope so Ms Fall” said Dr Degree “I hope so” Everypony held their breath, for Zeros Recovery. ____________________________________________________________________________ All of my back and the surrounding area HURT like a sonuvabitch, it felt like i got- . . . oh wait, i did. Zero thought to himself, taking in his surroundings before opening his eyes. He could hear the heartbeat monitor to is left and he could smell. . . Fall. All creatures had a unique scent, Fall smelt like the fresh Fall Leaves and Burnt Pine. I open my eyes, looking to the right and seeing my mate. She was fast asleep at my side, her upper body draped over my stomach and chest, one hoof around my waist, holding tightly onto me. I smiled, lifting my hand and scratching, gently, behind her ears. She murmured happily and snuggled into my side just that bit more. After a short while of continuing my ministrations, Fall stirs from sleep and into the waking world. Fall looks up at me, and gives me one of the most loving and sincere smiles i’ve ever seen from her. “All it took was to get hurt to get you away from your job and to me, huh.” She lightly hits my chest. “I thought i was going to lose you.” “Nah, it’s me were talking about. Gonna take more than mana-flame to kill lil ol me.” Fall buried her muzzle into my chest, i scratched her scalp through her reasonably thick mane. We just sat there for a good long while. Fall laying on my chest, listening to my heartbeat while i scratched her head. I felt warm wetness drip onto my chest. Lifting Falls mane out of the way, i could see that she was crying. She moves up my chest and lays her head underneath my chin. “. . .i love you” “I love you too” Chapter 6: Showing our true face(s)“Ok now lift your left arm as high as it is comfortable for you.” Zero lifted his arm straight into the air, lifting it from his side, keeping it straight. “Well, it looks like your fine now. Both arms are in full working order and your back has already begun to replace your muscle tissue and skin. I just need you to fill out some forms and your ready to be discharged.” “Thanks for looking out for me Red. . . Again.” Zero gave a sheepish grin. Nurse Red Heart hit Zero’s shoulder. “You better be, if i have to continuously look after your sorry butt every other day i might just have to start charging you.” Zero put his arm to his head in an exaggerated manner. “Oh how could you, a poor defenseless-” A solid hoof caught his side and he instinctively -in a very manly way- fell to one knee and cursed. “Smart ass” Nurse Red looked over to a patient who just so happened to be an Ass. “No offense.” “None taken.” Zero got back onto his feet and gave Red Hearts head a pat and ears a scratch. “Seriously Red, thank you.” “Your quite welcome.” Zero followed Red through a route that he knew all too well. It took all of 30 seconds for them to enter reception, Red went behind the counter and slipped Zero a parchment with some spaces to sign. Requisitioning a quill, Zero filled in the blanks. When it was all said and done, he handed both parchment and quill back to Red and bade her a good evening. ____________________________________________________________________________ The air was cold, winter was around the corner and the running of the leaves was going to commence very soon. Zero didn’t mind the cold. He could turn it off in a sense. Zero walked through ponyville, taking the scenic route towards his house, he was meet with friendly faces all around and a lot of cheering. Politely waving and declining a few invitations to drink with a group of mares and stallions alike. Zero had to make one stop before he went anywhere else. Making his way past the townhall and over a small bridge that went over a small stream. Zero walked up The Carousel Boutique and gave three curt knocks. “Just a moment.” After a few moments of waiting, the door open slightly. Upon seeing who was at the door, Rarity opened it wide and invited Zero inside. “Oh Darling it’s so wonderful to see you in good health again.” “And i'm grateful for being in the presence of such a lovely mare such as yourself.” Rarity moved a hoof to her lips and giggled. “My my, aren’t you the charmer.” “I aim to please m’lady” “Would you like some tea dear?” “You know i don’t drink tea. . . or coffee for that matter.” “How about some of those biscuits that you seem infatuated with?” “Rarity” “Very well then, i shall return momentarily.” Rarity sauntered off to the kitchen while Zero looked around the Boutique, seeing many a dress and suit. Business must of been good for her. That made him happy. After waiting around for a bit, Zero made his way over to the stairs to the next floor and went up them. Knowing where he was heading. Passing a few doors, Zero stopped in front of a single white door with flowers painted on it. Grasping the door knob and gently opening it, Zero opened the door wide enough so he could just pass through. Taking in the room, Zero spied its usual contents. A walk in wardrobe. A desk with many pictures and a large mirror, as well as makeup and various beauty products. An oak chest with an oil made from the Apple Family’s home applied in a thin coat to it. A chandelier hanging above on the ceiling. Various toys and board games lay about the room, making a varoutable mindfield of foot pain. And, at the back center of the room -next to an open window, which provided a light breeze to the room- lay a bed, with the sleeping form of Sweetie Bell on it. Tiptoeing his way to the side of the bed and gently sitting on it, Zero raised a hand and gently pet Sweetie on the head, and behind the ears in a caring manner. Feeling somepony touch her, Sweetie stirred opening her eyes slightly and uttering an adorable yawn. Scooching closer to Zero’s side and -after failing to move him- pulled herself toward him, curling around his side. Uttering a content murmur, Sweetie swiftly fell back into the inviting hug of sleep once more. Zero smiled at Sweetie. She was such a sweet, kind, loving filly who loved to get into trouble, and who had a burning passion for singing and all things entertainment. Sweetie, the filly who nigh on everypony loved to a fault. . . was nearly taken and corrupted. By a Stallion. . . a MONSTER. . . who wanted nothing more than- Zero cut off his train of thought. Thinking like wouldn’t help him. Not in the slightest. Giving her a gentle kiss to the forehead, just below the horn. Zero got up and made his way out. Closing the door the same way he entered. Zero sighed. “You really care for them, don’t you.” Giving a light laugh, Zero looked down the hall to see Rarity. A teacup and a glass bottle suspended in her magic floating next to her head. She bore an appreciative smile toward him. “Thank you. . . for everything Zero. . . ponyville's Guardian Angel. . . our Guardian Angel.” Raising his shoulders slightly, Zero simply said. “It's just what i do.” Tears freely fell from Rarity’s cheek and she laughed shakeily. “Of c-course it i-is. . .” She charged him, Zero dropped to the floor and embraced rarity in the hug she was giving him. “Th-thank y-y-ou Ze-zero” Stroking her back, Zero took all of her sorrows. Her worry and pain. Like the boulder he was. . . . Author's Note (Note: End of what i had from before the holidays. Cant wait to see what people think of the new fish in the pond) Pond? There's no pond here silly! (Sigh why do i even bother with her. Only with pinkie, amirite'?) Chapter 1: Starting off.The Night was grown and quiet, not a creature in the lands dared to make a peep, lest it disturb the solum peace. A single guard, clad in Golden armour and a spear attached to his side, patrols the gardens of the royal palace of Canterlot. The guard was an earthpony, an unusual sight in the Unicorn City. He walks along a set path to his patrol route, occasionally passing a fellow guard, mostly thestrals who give him an odd look. Being raised by thestrals tends to have that effect on ponies that didn’t know him all that well. Rounding a bend around a hedge, he passes the statue of Discord. Giving the statue a face and sticking his tongue out. Passing the final corner before he can call it a night, he hears something akin to a young foal crying. Cautiously following the sound, spear drawn. He turns a corner. And he raises an eyebrow. In Front of him was the statue of starswirl the bearded’s, surrounded in the ever usual pond and flowers. Sat on the podium, was a basket. Approaching the basket, he pears into it. His head cocks. This was the strangest creature he had ever seen. The “Foal’s” head was round, its eyes small and brown. In place of hooves, it had the appendages of minotaurs, while being a lot smaller than a minotaur calf. It looked him in the eyes, a curious look on its face, as it reached out and grabbed his nose. His eyes crossed, backing up he sneezed. This scared the Foal, making it jump and begin to cry. “Oh tartarus damn it.” His drops his spear, picking up the small creature and holds them in his forehooves, rocking back and forth while singing a song his mother sang to him when he was a foal. The crying ebbs away until the foal is quiet and further until they are asleep. Sighing to himself, Bright Light places the foal back into the basket and picks up both, noticing that on foals left foreleg. Is a Zero, but in a strange design that was alien to him. Reattaching his spear to his side, Bright Light walks off to the end of his patrol route to signout for the Night. “How the heck am i gonna explain this to the captain.” Bright Light said out loud to no-pony in particular. Author's Note (Note: If at least 10 people want it done, i will develop the earlier segments of this story to fill in the blanks in the timeline that will become apparent soon.)
Prologue: What lies at the end of the tunnelAuthor's Note (Note: Things were just thrown in at the beginning and will smooth out as well as thicken a few chapters in. My name is Zero, and let me be the first to say. . .”
Chapter 2: First Day[7 years later] The sun shone brightly, the sky bare of naught but pegasi and the occasional rogue cloud. Chapter 3: Grown, as one.[8 years later, The Present] The room was beginning to warm from Celestia's sun, filtering through the windows, bathing the room in a warm, inviting orange. Chapter 4: JusticeZero had been following the stallion and filly for a good 20+ minutes, the pair and their tail now outside of the park. . . and slightly into the everfree. Chapter 5: Reprieve.Everything was going so well today. “. . .i love you” “I love you too”
Chapter 6: Showing our true face(s)“Ok now lift your left arm as high as it is comfortable for you.” Zero lifted his arm straight into the air, lifting it from his side, keeping it straight. Only with pinkie, amirite'?)
Chapter 1: Starting off.The Night was grown and quiet, not a creature in the lands dared to make a peep, lest it disturb the solum peace.
