Beepbeepbeepbeep!!!!!!

A groan was heard from a lump-covered bed as an alarm clock went off. The lump moved around for a bit, and a tan arm reached out. It fumbled around for a bit before finally turning the alarm off.

The lump moved some more, before the blankets were pushed away to reveal a yawning 18 year old boy with brown hair, and blue eyes. He stretched, and was just about to get out of bed when he heard-"Gavin!!! Breakfast is ready!!" A woman yelled from the kitchen.

"Okay mom!! Be there in a minute!" Gavin responded.

He got out of bed, and got dressed, choosing to wear from his wardrobe his Pokémon hat, a shirt with a large fox on it, black shorts, and sneakers. He looked around at his room, which was covered in Pokémon posters, books, and puzzles. He then left his room and went down the hall to the kitchen to have breakfast.

When he entered the kitchen, his mom was at the table eating some cereal. He made himself some breakfast, and sat down at the table with his mother. As he ate, he couldn't help but look at his mom. He marveled again at how similar he was to her. They both had the same build, same eyes, and same smile. But they also had their differences. She was blonde, while he had brown hair. She was shorter than him, and was not nearly as optimistic as him. But he loved her all the same.

"So Gavin," his mother began, making him come out of his analyzing mode, "what are you doing today?"

He hummed for a minute as he ate his cereal, before answering. "Oh, I'm just gonna go to the Comic con today and see what they have. I'll bring my money with me incase I see something I like."

"Alright honey," she said. "Just be careful."

"I will mom, don't worry." With that, he got up and put his now empty bowl in the sink, before heading to freshen up for the day.

After he freshened up, he headed towards the front door. "Gavin. See you when you get back," his mother said with a smile.

"Alright mom. See you when I get home," he said as he headed out the front door to his car. What he didn't know was that he would never return home.

An hour later

Gavin pulled into the Cordova Mall parking lot, and got out of the car ready to see what Comic con was about. He didn't know what to expect, so he was going with an open mind, not quite sure what he was going to spend his money on.

Upon entering, he was immediately bombarded with the sight and sounds of hundreds of people. Looking around the mob, Gavin didn't recognize over half of the stalls there, not even the characters or comics, having been kept away from the majority of the stuff by his overprotective parents.

As he walked through the mob of people, something-or rather, someone-caught his eye. It was a man dressed up in a tattered black cloak. He was standing at a stall called "Resident Evil," with several items in front of him. Gavin walked over to the stand, and got a better look at the man.

In addition to the cloak he was wearing, which he now saw had several pockets on the inside, he had a large sandy backpack next to him, and a purple piece of fabric covering his slightly scarred face. Overall, he looked quite mysterious to Gavin.

"Who are you supposed to be?" he bluntly asked the man. The man stared at him, and crossed his arms.

"The Merchant," the man replied, presumably scowling behind the cloth over his face. "Now, if you aren't going to buy anything, then get out of here!"

Gavin quickly held out his hands. "Woah woah woah!! Calm down!! It was just a question!! I didn't know who you were!"

The man huffed. "You should have known."

He frowned at that. "Its not my fault my parents kept this stuff from me!! So shut up, and let me look!!!"

The Merchant, as Gavin decided to call for now, frowned at that response, and stared at him with his now visible blue eyes, making him rather nervous. He stared for a few minutes, and then chuckled, confusing him even more.

"You got guts boy, to say that to me," he said. "So for that reason, you can pick as many wares you want, and you only have to pay 50% of the original price."

He raised an eyebrow at that. "50% off everything I pick? Are you sure about that?" The Merchant nodded.

"Yes. Now pick what you want before I change my mind!!"

"Alright. Alright!! Let me look," he said as he looked at the items before him. There were several items that he didn't recognize, but some of them caught his eye. There was a steel spike, some purple fur, and a purplish white orb. "I would like to get those items sir," he said, pointing to each item. The Merchant looked at each item, and then at the teen.

"That will be $250 for the steel spike, the purple fur, and the reality warp orb," he said, putting each item into a bag as he said its name.

Gavin gulped. He was pretty sure his parents wouldn't like this, but he decided to buy them anyway. After all, when would he get another chance like this to get some pretty cool stuff?

With a sigh, he pulled out his wallet and counted out the appropriate bills. He handed them over to the Merchant, who held out the bag in turn.

Right as he reached out for the bag, two more things caught his eyes. A large orange fox tail, and a blue and black flaming cat tail. He sighed, not because he didn't want those items. It was because he didn't have any more money to buy them with. The Merchant noticed the longing on his face, and sighed, muttering to himself, "I must be getting soft."

"Here," said the Merchant, taking the two items and putting them in the bag. "On the house." Before he could protest, he held up his hand. "No refunds, no complaints."

Gavin took the bag with a grin on his face, and said, "Thank you for the items sir."

The Merchant chuckled and said, "Enjoy your new life."

"What-" was all Gavin could say before he felt himself fall unconscious as darkness overtook him.
