Crash Course in Harmony
Prolouge: The day things got weird.
Load Full StoryYo! Names Matthew Dashel, but everyone calls me Matt. I’m your typical athletic kind of guy, but I am NOTHING like those stereotype Jocks that you see on TV, I’m too cool for that. Naw I’m nice to everyone who’s nice back, though don’t let anyone tell you I’m soft. I’ll always be there for my friends and help them out anyway I can, even if that means throwing a few punches.
Now that the boring introduction is out of the way, let's get to the good stuff that you all came for.
So I’m with some of my friends in our secret spot, Harry, Terrence, Kurt, and Rina, waiting for the final friend in our circle, John, to tell us what he’s been hiding. I was not expecting him to have become some mutant anthro horse, or a girl when he walked from around the corner after ditching the extra clothes he, or she i guess, had on. Didn’t know it at the time, but apparently he become this anthro version of a female character from a show called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, named Twilight Sparkle. Now I don’t hate on anyone for liking what they like, but I NEVER thought I would see one of my best friends be turned into a FEMALE HORSE!
After staring in shock at “John” for a few seconds I looked at her closely and said: “judging by that rack, your a girl too.” I told her with a grin, getting a punch from Rina for my troubles.
“Ow! Alright alright, i’ll be nice!” I say in response.
After that John basically laid everything out for us about how it happened and her love of MLP. As well as all of us agreeing to help her keep it a secret. In a weird way it was all kinda funny, and as much as I don’t want to admit this about one of my formally MALE friends, John did look kinda hot. God damn it all, now I need some Brain Bleach.
ANYWAYS! After that, we all decided to head home for the day, with me walking with Terrence back to his place to make sure he got back safely. I swear, the guy can be such a doormat if he’s on his own, doesn’t help his family is loaded, so he is a prime target for muggers. Not to say he can’t defend himself, but I’d rather make sure he gets back safe and sound, not that I’m gay or anything. Guy’s just too meek to fight back if something happens.
‘Man I wish Terrence would take some assertiveness classes or something! If I wasn’t with him today everyone would have kept cutting him off trying to cross the damn street and we’d never get anywhere!’ I mentally complain as I walk up to my front door.
Taking out my front door key, I unlock the door and head inside to the kitchen to get some snacks, only to see my number one fan and adopted sister Sam.
Sam suffered an accident that cost her the ability to use her legs, forcing her to use a wheelchair. Sadly that’s not the only thing to happen to her, but i’m trying to keep things nice and chill with her to keep her as happy as I can.
“Sup squirt?” I ask her as I go to the fridge to get a soda can out and pop the tab off it before taking a drink.
“OH! Hey Matt!” Sam replied as she just noticed me after hearing my question.
“I’m just working on some boring homework I have for math class tomorrow… It’s soooo Booooooriiiinnngggg though!’ She went on to say as well as complain. Not that I blame her, math is so not cool, but sadly everyone has to bare with it.
“I know what you mean squirt, but we gotta do what we gotta do to get through it. How bout this? You finish your homework and then we go out and have some fun at the arcade?” I reply and ask her.
I chuckle as I see her eyes light up at the prospect of hanging out with me, she always looked up to me when she saw how Awesome I am after she first moved in with me and my mom.
“YOU MEAN IT!?!?” She exclaims, eyes wide with a big smile on her face.
“Of course Squirt! Maybe we can swing by and see your friends too, but you gotta finish your school work first.” I tell her, getting a joyful smile out of her before she slumps back into her wheelchair at the second part of my sentence.
I crouch beside her and put a hand on her shoulder. “ Hey I know you can do it Sam, you're the most Awesomest kid I know.” I tell her, getting her to smile softly at me.
“Really?” She asks.
“Hell Ya! You may not be as awesome as me but your pretty darn close! I know you can do those math problems in your sleep if you really try!” I reply. A determined smile appears on her face as she throws herself into her work as I smile and grab some chips before heading to the living room to relax and chill out for a little bit.
My mom puts a hand on my shoulder as I’m passing the stairs and gives me a proud smile.
“That was a very good thing you did for Sam, Matthew.” She tells me, to which I just shrug.
“If I don’t have her back who will? And I’ve told you to call me Matt like a Million times now, Mom!” I tell her with a light glare, which she just giggles at my response.
“Even so, thank you for helping to motivate her to do her homework.”
I just nod while mom goes to the kitchen, and I move to the couch and turn on the TV and start browsing for something to watch while munching on some chips.
After snacking and watching tv for about half an hour Sam yells out: “Finally finished!”
I chuckle and get up from the couch and head to the kitchen where Sam is.
“Nice work squirt, knew you could do it.” I tell her, getting a bright smile from her in return. To which I respond with a cocky grin.
“Thanks Matt! Can we go to the arcade now?”
“Sure, just put away all your stuff or mom will have a fit!” I tell her while we both have a laugh until we hear mom calling out.
“I heard that!!” She yells from upstairs causing us to laugh even harder.
Once Sam got all her stuff put away into her bag I offered to put it in her room before we headed out. Luckily the arcade is within easy walking distance so we don’t have to ask mom for a lift and waste time getting Sam into and out of the car when we could be gaming. Not to say Sam’s a burden or anything, but it does get annoying for the both of us, her even more so.
‘When we arrived, I noticed Sam’s friends Amy and Melanie over in the corner, and wheel her over to join them, hoping to make her even happier tonight. I winced when I saw her reaction, realizing that they were playing Dance Dance Revolution, and she couldn’t join in.
“Amy! Melanie!” I called out when I realized she wasn’t going to say anything. They spun around, startled until they saw us, and then their faces lit up.
“Sam!” They both exclaimed, running over to great us and pulling them away from the reminder of Sam’s disability, their game forgotten. Melanie noticed Sam’s face though, and, before I could stop her, she spat out “What’s wrong Sam?”
Sam flinched, pulled from her memories by Melanie putting her hand on Sam’s shoulder. “What? Oh, it’s nothing.” She said, her smile as forced as her words. She took a deep breath, as if to steel herself, and then clapped her hands. “Let’s go play some games! Onward, my faith steed!”
I laughed as I rolled her over in the direction she was pointing, keeping a slow steady pace and I listened to the girl’s conversation as they recounted their lives since their last meet up. Feeling bad for Sam all the while, but keeping it to myself.
We all played some of the arcade games while facing off against each other or co-oping in games like Donkey Kong, Street Fighter, and some other lesser known ones that I can’t remember off the top of my head.
After about 2 hours it’s starting to get late so I round up the girls and say we need to get going, to which the response was expected.
“AWWWWWW!!!!!!” they whine, but finished up what they were doing and we all left the arcade.
“You two gonna be alright getting home?” I ask Amy and Melanie. They nod their heads and say their goodbyes and goodnights before heading in the opposite direction and I start pushing Sam’s wheelchair back home.
“ You have fun Squirt?” I ask her while giving her a grin.
“Hell ya I did! It’s always so awesome hanging out with you! As well as with Amy and Melanie!” She replies with enthusiasm. I just chuckle while silently being thankful that she’s back to being happy and respond with:
“Glad you had fun Sam. Maybe we can do this again sometime in the future. What do you think?” I ask her already knowing her response.
“YES!!” She exclaims causing me to laugh.
“Sure thing squirt. We can try to plan it out next week, but you have to get your work done before we can go whenever we plan to do it alright?” I tell her, getting a groan from her but a nod all the same.
We arrived back home just before the sun completely set. Sam ended up falling asleep along the way so after I got us both inside and locked the door, I parked her chair in front of the door before gently lifting her up and carrying her upstairs and gently set her in bed and pulled the covers up over her chest.
“Goodnight Sam, sleep tight, I’ll see you in the morning.” I give her a small kiss on the forehead and stand up to head out, but stop at seeing a happy little smile on Sam’s face, making one appear on mine before I head out into the hallway.
As I turn to head to my room I see my mom leaning against the wall next to Sam’s room giving me a shit eating grin.
“I saw what you did Mr. Tough guy.” She says causing me to lightly blush and push past her giving her a passing: “Whatever mom, I'm going to bed, night.”
I go into my room and close the door, not seeing my mom’s proud smile. After changing into some night clothes I hit up Youtube for a bit before starting to feel sleepy, turning off my laptop and hopping into bed to go to sleep.
That's all for today, Probably will write more later, not like anyone but me will read this anyways, at least it BETTER be only me, or some bitches gonna die tonight.
