Chapter Five: Training

"The path you choose, may not change your fate, but yes of others"

Exhausted.

Xenith not was lying, when said that we would wake up early, was five in the morning and was very tired, like Starlight. But ... we're already awake and all that took away my dream, it was the excitement of raising my skills with training.

After a few minutes of we waking, Xenith returned to our room with a green suit and a hat of the same color, the colors don’t match her coat, she looked strange. But she showed respect.

"Ready to training? I’m very excited to train two ponies” she said with a tone of joy. She looked excited, even I was.

"I can’t go a little later?? Xenith, still did not wake up anyone else" said Starlight rubbing her eyes.

Xenith stared at Starlight. "They're not going to train, but if you want, you can accompany them, and I forget to train you, and I care about training to Twilight, you decide". I wanted to laugh at that answer, so I just lower my head. Starlight only settled her head and went out very slowly. "Well Twilight, come with us?" Xenith said.

"Yeah... right away I go" I replied still tired.

When Xenith left the room, I stretch a little more to avoid sleep and then I approached the door, I was sure it was going to be one of the hardest things I would do.

"I'm glad for are in here, so now that if we began" I heard to Xenith tell me, as I approached her.

Xenith said that we would practice fighting with hoof. It not is going to be much, but we need train to have more strength, endurance and better reflexes. She said that this was due to the potion prepared to make our bodies more resistant. She did it different, so that will do our bodies evolved to support the new force and magic that we would have, the potion wasn’t like others, it was very rare, and we were fortunate to be able to take it.

I was still tired and wanted to sleep. But after this, our first challenge would come, to test our skills.

"Ready??!!!" Xenith said, standing in fighting position, spreading her legs and tensing her body.

"I can’t... more" said panting and throwing to the floor to rest. During this time, Xenith was attacked us and taught us different keys and ways to fight. We face each other and, most important, don’t use magic.

It was very cold, everything was clear. Xenith had moved away and a few minutes later, she returned with two giant stones that no seemed common: they were gray, bright, with several purple tips and looked like a strange material.

"Xenith uh... what are those stones?" I asked curiously.

She looked where I pointed and showed a smile. "Ah that ... it's for your first lesson" she replied cheerfully.

Starlight squealed with joy, knowing she had no idea about try this lesson, I don’t think that she was ready for this, in fact, and I wasn’t.

"They only have one goal for the next two hours and will break this object using only her magic, can’t use other material" Xenith said standing next to us and just started looking.

Starlight charge her horn, was to fire a beam of magic, one strong I can saw "Breaking what?... It will be a pleasure" Starlight said.

She finished loading her energy and fired. The spell launched was powerful, this made the floor shake a little. The impact whit the stone, and I saw, all surprised, that the powerful attack that launched Starlight, was retained in the rock and returned to her. Starlight tried cover, but could not. "Starlight!!" I shouted scared when she got her own spell, ran where she was on the floor with just a few strokes.

I looked to Xenith. "You don’t need to hurt to train!! Don’t you think?" I shouted angry.

"Don’t worry Twilight, it's nothing serious and if something happens, there are zebras that can attend. In addition, this happened because she trusted in her power, ignoring her possibilities” said Xenith.

I knew it was fault of Starlight, but it wasn’t necessary to intend kill her, even I was still tired by I woke up early.

"Remember, you have two hours to complete this test, I'll be watching them" it was the last I heard of Xenith, she sits on a rock.

"Well… Starlight, we awake two hours to figure out how to break these stones if we pass this test. You can hear me?" I said moving her.

Starlight was lifting something pained and looked at me with one eye. "Yes... you're right... we must hurry... better think twice before using magic"

"You should follow that advice before of shooting" I said wryly.

"Now I that remember, why we not train with Sunset?? She should not practice with us?"

I began to see the house where they were Sunset and our friends. "It's because she is not yet ready for this". I could not say anything, did not want to offend Sunset for not knowing anything about advanced spells, but I did not want anything to happen, like the impact that she had in Tenpony Tower.

“But it would be better to bring it to the next lesson, she must learn to use her magic, or else end up like Trixie” Starlight said with a joking tone.

She was my friend, and did not want to act as overprotective with Sunset "Okay... let's bring it to the next lesson. Now you have to worry about how to break those stones without harming "

Starlight was exhausted and sore. "Well, let's do it" she replied.

I sighed because I did not like this situation. "So... where do we start?"

She came to the barbed object and began to shock, to see how strong it was... or I hoped that. "Starlight, what do you doing?" I said as I approached her.

We had been fifteen minutes, and we did not know what to do, I sat on the floor, thought and thought, while Starlight she kept pulling all sorts of spells, but none of it worked, everyone returned to her, Starlight was protected with their shields now knowing what would happen if he did.

I took a breath, I was bored. The only ideas that came to me were shooting with a very big gun to keep them not coming back to me, or throw a mega spell that destroyed all Equestria... better I forget that part.

I thought about much that missed to my friends, saw that last memory orb made me think a lot about them. I started thinking about Ponyville, in my Ponyville; the adventures I had with Sunset; Starlight, when I did one new friends and when we defeated Storm King.

With this, I could completely forget the issue of trying to break the stone, just thinking about my friends... but my body began to feel heavy, I could not move me, I fell to the ground by the weight I felt. Then my whole world fell. Like if entering an orb memory. It was strange, and Starlight was ignoring me.

I appeared in my castle, looking like if I was asleep, but I could move and was conscious. It wasn’t like an orb memory, neither was a dream. Looking ahead notice that my friends were walking, they turned around and saw me with a smile, it was my six friends.

"Who do you want, princess" I heard a familiar female voice coming from my side, I got up and looked if there was anyone there. But just it looked dark.

"Hello? Who are you?" I asked aloud.

"You are in a period of crisis, right?... help defeat the Alicorn, not know how to destroy the stone, and you know how to help your friends"

The strange female voice had not answered my question, rather I was asking questions. It was a familiar voice, but did not know who, not looking at any pony nearby. "If I return to my home, this dimension not will know how to defend of that Alicorn. And now I decided to stay, I can not solve the first test gave me Xenith, what I can do?" I said crying.

"Twilight… Twilight!!!... wake up, we only have twenty minutes" I heard to Starlight yelling at me while shaking. I got up at the words of Starlight, dull sunshine and caused me to stand.

"I guess this stone can not return two attacks, as I returned my telekinesis, you have to shoot... then we'll see what happens" I told her as she gasped.

"We have nothing to lose... then let's try it" said Starlight, showing a satisfied smile.

"I think this challenge will teach us when to fire resistance strong spells" I added "because the telekinesis spends much energy, especially when you're under pressure"

"You have every reason Twilight". Come hear a voice behind me, it was Xenith with my friends.

"Starlight is time to end this" I said smiling. She nodded her head. Grasp the tines of the stone with my telekinesis and started to make the connection. I would not stop, my body was still tight. This wasn’t for me, it was for the good of the Wastelands... And my friends. Once we defeat this alicorn, we could return to our world. The stone exploded completely turned black and began to fade. Starlight then grabbed another stone with her telekinesis and looked like it was tight, she clenched her teeth tightly. Without wasting time I recharge my horn and fired. The stone exploded and equally faded.

I heard the cries of support from my friends to see that we had managed to break the stones.

"Good job, I knew that you will make it, I trust you from the beginning" Xenith told us with a smile of approval.

Littlepip approached us smiling. "Well done Twilight..." and seeing Starlight added "and you also, Starlight"

"Thanks Littlepip" said Starlight rolling her eyes and sitting by the fatigue that came to do this, as she rubbed his horn.

"Yes, thank Littlepip and all... well Xenith also what the next test?". It was all I thought. I wanted to end this soon.

We turn away with Velvet, Xenith, Calamity, Littlepip, Starlight and Sunset. We stopped at a place where there wasn’t a lot of debris or trees. "This place is perfect for training" Xenith said.

"What are we doing in here?" Asked Starlight

"You three will fight with me, not can use magic" Xenith replied with a smile "If you manage to throw down to me, you win"

I thought three to one was a bit unfair, but I could not say otherwise. Littlepip walked at my side, looking my ‘Cutie Mark’. When, I looked into her eyes, she looked away and said "I should turn on the radio, so there is some music while you training"

I heard music, I'd ever heard, they were all about war and hope. With sad lyrics but encouraging.

Xenith happened to us a book, where there were many drawings of ways of fighting with hoof. "You need memorize those fighting styles, and then have to apply"

We had a good time watching the images, many were attacks on weak points of the body, keys, blind spots, combat maneuvers and strategies. We thought that were ready to implement it. "But I don’t like to call me the Mare of the Ministry" I exclaimed with disgust.

"Neglects Twilight" replied Sunset "You've got that title, especially in this place"

"But Homage have right, when they finish their training, we should go and see what happens in Manhattan" Littlepip said.

"If there is time" I said, putting my hoof in the floor "our priority is that alicorn". I did not want to stay long in this place, I wanted to go with my friends and return to Ponyville.

"And my priority is to help ponies" Littlepip said firmly "if you don’t come with me, you have to find alone to that alicorn"

I said nothing, I was shocked with her answer, but she was right, I did not command here, I had to help others, defeat a alicorn not will make a difference.

"Okay, enough of distractions" it said Xenith "It's time to start the training"

It was very late, had little sunlight... but it was time for another challenge. We were training all afternoon. Starlight had more accurate and shock resistance, but had not good reflexes. Sunset was good dodging and banging, but had no resistance. Xenith told me I had enough strength and endurance, but also I had not good reflexes.

Xenith was guiding us to Sunset, Starlight and me to a very high mountain, where had been Canterlot, that test would not know, but I wanted Starlight and Sunset are not afraid of heights. We brought only food and water, Xenith said did not need anything else.

We was exhausted from all the walk, but the more and higher we climbed scared me, even if I have wings, this summit does not compare to others where I was. "We are about to arrive?"

"Almost there" Xenith said unpacking the thing that had brought. Until she stopped. I saw that we were in the top. I can see how everything was destroyed, ruined and desolate. That landscape stretching to the horizon, and I looked like the whole sky was covered in clouds, no pure sunshine. I felt the fear, pain and despair that had lived ponies this dimension.

"Twilight Beware!!" Starlight shouted, grabbing my head and making me crouch, dodging one. I stood looking at a huge amount of those birds coming to us.

A second bat came to me, I dodged by jumping left, but another appeared from nowhere and I trait with his claw in my left eye, making me fall to the ground and felt everything moving around me, nothing in my vision was stable.

I saw a blur, only heard the cries of my friends for help. My eyesight became visible again and take then attack a bird that was damaging Sunset. I pushed my hooves and I felled to the ground.

Sunset said debilitated "Thanks to Twilight not have happened if..."

More Bloodwings came to attack Sunset, preventing finish her sentence, I tried to defend it. None of the three knew how to put into practice what we had learned, we only felt fear.

Starlight could defend themselves, but not enough, surrounding the were. I, like my friends, was surrounded by several Bloodwings with intent to murder. I tried to use my magic but it was useless.

"Twilight, we are lost!!" I heard to Starlight screaming all scratched.

"Twilight, what we do!!??" shouted Sunset.

I turned my head to look at Sunset. Then to look at Starlight. Everything was lost not know what to do, this was our purpose? So would all... everything was falling, so was how I wanted to help this dimension, if I did not know how to help us. I closed my eyes because the pain was too strong. I felt that everything was spinning, I heard my name come from my friends, my breathing was heavy. I fell to the ground and everything went white.

"Where I am?? which is this place??" I appeared again in my castle, this was another dream? If it was, I just wanted to wake up and go help my friends.

I started walking through the halls going from one room to another, hoping to find someone, but there was nothing, just silence, except for my breathing, it was all I could hear. I entered a room, and this it closed behind me, the light went out and everything was dark. This place was like being in a four unlit, but there was something somewhere alum.

"Hello? Where it is so all, I just want to get out of here, I have to help my friends, wake Twilight, please!!!" I said to myself hitting my cheeks. I don’t knew what do, so I sat in the hallway to rest, while I started to think about how to get out of this, this was impossible, I don’t know someone who survived without being able to use your horn or fly...

"That is possible, if you remove the doubts of your mind". I can hear the same female voice that had spoken to me in my other dream. It was official, I was going crazy.

"What doubts? That you're talking about, you are crazy!!" I shouted. It was that I not trust that I will be passing this test, or I feel that I will can’t defeat the alicorn, or that I felt lost.

It was a deep silence, until the voice broke the silence. "If you think to win, you have to release your fears, your doubts, and let it flow magic in you... your horn is just a channeler of your magic, the magic is in you, not in your horn" said the voice "as well as friendship is in you. Also magic is within you"

Everything became dark, what he meant to break free and let flow my magic on me? Well whatever it is, I had to find out now. I could not see the tip of my nose.

I sat down and took a deep breath, kept my cool, I closed my eyes and focused on the feeling that I was doing magic, I felt like I was and I tried bring out of me. They seemed to have spent hours in this state. I felt something that flowed from me and gave it the shape of a sphere.

Opening my eyes, I saw that there was a magic ball in front of me, I thought about shooting and came out as a very powerful beam, until he fainted. I was shocked, it was something new not use my horn, and I could make a ball of magic. I also felt I was more exhausted than before. I had to use this to survive in this place.

Everything went white again... it was time to wake up.

I woke up surrounded by Bloodwings, was all scratched and could barely move in front of me were my friends struggling to survive. I only had one more thing to do and was I did in that place... use magic without my horn.

I closed my eyes and I started thinking about Starlight, Sunset, Littlepip, Calamity, Velvet, Homage and Xenith... were those who supported me from the beginning in this adventure. In Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack and Spike... want my friends were from the beginning and will be until the end.

Forget my fears, I forgot to alicorn, I forgot my worries, there was only harmony within me, everything bad was in the past, and had released me, I only had my magic flow. Kept repeating in my mind 'you can do', I felt the magic within me and flowing all over my body.

Opening my eyes noticed there was a ball of magic, it was against my chest... it was shocking, I could do magic without using my horn "magic of friendship, is a light that illuminates my life!!" I shouted.

The magic ball became a lightning killing three Bloodwings that were above me. "Friends!!! Listen, you can to use magic just have to get rid of their fears and let the magic flow into your body!" Yelled trying to do that they can get their magic "We can do magic without using our horns"

Starlight closed her eyes, like Sunset; but the birds did not allow them to concentrate. I took a deep breath and went back to gather magic in front of me, I generated magic began to defend my friends shooting two balls of magic that disintegrated two of those things, so that they could achieve more so.

Although I felt bad for scratches I kept generating more magic. Do was exhausting, but if I stop me, we did die here. To make this magic, spent more energy than when using my horn. But it was much more efficient.

They were surrounding me until a brightness blinded me for a few seconds and opening my eyes I saw Starlight and Sunset were shining. I can see that they were tired, but in a state of harmony. Then a ball of magic appeared in front of them.

"You did it". It was all I could say, was amazing, we could do magic without our horn, wanted this new power last me forever.

"If you're right, but we have not finished, we need to cross the bridge to get where Xenith" Starlight said, she was right, missing get there, so I nodded my head and still continuing, while killing those who stood in our way. The Bloodwings returned to the deep.

When we reach the other mountain, Xenith was waiting with a cup of herbs. We had not been able to fight with those bats, but had learned a new way of doing magic. I did not feel my legs, I was very tired. Like everybody.

"Finally you did it, and I was getting bored. You seems that did not fare well, you look very bad, come take them with Velvet cure for that, oh by the way congratulations on getting to the next level fight "Xenith said.

"We actually learned a new way of doing magic" I said with a tired smile.

Xenith looked surprised "These rings prevents them that using their horns or wings, how they could use magic?" Asked confused.

"We don’t use our horns" I said, raising my hoof and concentrating magic, until it appeared a ball of magic.

"Amazing, I never saw you can do that kind of magic... come on" she said shocked, she did not ask more. She approached us and took the rings, I felt the magic again flow into my horn and I felt my wings again. She did not say anything after that.

I had no strength to ask about this, so I just nodded my head and we went towards the town. It's was a totally difficult test but the result was worth it, just hoping the ultimate challenge, which, according with Xenith, going to be tomorrow and for now I just wanted to rest. In total they were to be three challenges, more training to hoof. I had no energy for anything, just walking, and I felt very light, lighter than ever.

"How was that these wounds were?? Xenith what did you do!!??" Velvet replied to Xenith, while healing our wounds caused by these Bloodwings.

I felt a lot of pain, the antidote that gave me Velvet burned me like take boiling water with healing bandages, I felt a little better, in fact, I was happy that we survived and also... to learn to use magic without the need to use our horns, I was happy... I felt good.
