He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not
“Sugarcube Corner is on lock-down, no one can get out. They haven’t agreed to leave peacefully, there hostages, five mares, two fillies, one colt, and eight stallions. All of the terrorists are armed and one mare has been wounded from what I can see from here.” I said over the speaker to my partner, Drop, on the other side of the building.
“Are there any way to enter without anyone getting hurt?” Drop asked, giving a tone that sounded petrified.
I could see him on the other side, he was looking in the window, when I realized who he was looking at. His daughter, Stella, was in Sugarcube Corner, as a hostage.
“Do you see Stella?” I questioned, looking over to him while speaking into the mic.
“She’s wounded,” Drop replied, letting go of his speaker, letting it fall to the ground.
I heard some gunshots in place, there were screams, and flashes from the guns. My heart nearly sank as I saw the blood splatter across the window. Somepony was killed.
“We need to get in there now!” I yelled into my microphone, alerting the rest of my team.
“How do you want to approach?” Drop answered, giving his signal near the entrance.
Drop busted through the door, immediately being greeted with a bloodbath. I had run up and gunned down two of the terrorists who were near the door. Drop stood there in pure horror as his daughter was wounded and his wife was dead.
“Bud, keep your head in the game.” I whispered, hoping he could hear me.
He dropped his weapon in shock, and his legs broke from underneath him. I looked down for one second, only to be addressed with a sharp pain in my shoulder. I winced in pain as the blood dripped down onto the floor, creating a puddle. Glancing over to the hostage, most of them were dead except for a mare who resembled Drop. As I was examining, I couldn’t help but notice the dead mare, whom was Drop’s wife.
I heard another gunshot, then, a thud. Turning around, I realized one of my team members had been shot dead. Drop was gone. That was my breaking point, I went ballistic and on a rampage. He’d lost so much already and they just had to make him lose his life right after his wife.
“You..you fucking idiot!” I hollered, grabbing my MP7 and attack all of whom I saw, expect for the hostage.
The hostage was rescued, but as I walked over to help the remaining, Stella was shaking in fear.
“We have five remaining ponies out of the sixteen who were taken hostage, there’s a dead teammate, Drop, along with 4 dead mares, 5 dead stallions, and 2 of the children are dead as well. I’m wounded and there are no terrorists left. It’s clear for help.” I said over the mic, alerting the rest of the team.
“Are you alright?” I asked Drop’s daughter, giving her my hoof to help her up, I took a glimpse at her thigh, and found the wound.
“We have a wounded mare here as well,” I spoke into the mic, “We need a medic.”
Stella was shaking uncontrollably, we got her out of Sugarcube Corner along with the rest of the hostages. As Stella was being loaded onto the ambulance, I noticed she wasn’t doing so well, she was pale and had cold sweat dripping down her face. I decided to get on the ambulance with her to keep her company, she had lost everything she knew.
“Hello, Stella,” I soothed, trying to make her feel at ease, “I can understand that you’re shaken up.”
Stella looked at me and then let out a soft cry, she shook and turned pale again. I could tell everything had happened, right before her eyes. It made me feel horrible, to lose everything you know, it’s like the world is crumbling before your eyes. The feeling is awful, you’ll never be the same again. Stella looked up at me, with teary eyes. I failed to notice the mark on her face, near her eye, it was a bruise that she received when she was held hostage. I leaned closer to see the bruise, as I observed her cheek, I couldn’t help but notice there was blood in her eye.
“You worked with my dad, right?” Stella asked me, pushing my hoof away as I was examining.
“Yes, I did. He was quite the stallion, always did his job, no matter how rough. Today was just his breaking point. He saw your mother and just stopped physically and mentally. He couldn’t bare the pain,” I explained, a small tear dropped down my face, hitting the floor, “He was a good stallion.”
My head dropped as small trails of tears travelled down my face.
“I know I’m supposed to be strong, but, he was my best friend in all honesty. It’s only just hitting me now that he’s gone. I understand your pain, Stella. It’s hard losing someone close to you. All you can do is wait for the pain to settle in and soon let it go away,” I explained to her, letting out a soft sigh.
Stella put her hoof on her on my shoulder, letting me know that everything was going to be okay.
I was the one who was supposed to be comforting her, and here she was, trying to make me feel comfortable to talk about her dad. I could tell she wanted to know more about him, he was never home.
“How much do you know about your dad?” I asked, breaking the silence that filled the air.
“Not much, he was never home. He was always at work,” she explained to me, teary eyed and shaky once more.
“How odd,” I answered, looking down at the floor of the ambulance, “he always called off of work because he needed to take care of his wife, he said she was severely ill with an unknown disease that doctors were baffled by.”
I saw her eyes widen and jaw drop, that’s when I knew my best friend, was a no good scoundrel.
“My mother isn’t diseased with anything, she was healthy until she was met with fate today.” Stella had caught on to what I said, her eyes were filled with burning hatred instead of the sorrow she had just a moment ago. I rested my hoof on her shoulder, letting her know that I was still there, comforting her. Brushing my hoof off her shoulder, giving me a look that sent chills down my spine.
“I wonder what he was doing,” I questioned, scooting away from her, in case she were to flip out from anger.
“It doesn’t matter what he was doing!” She hollered, raising her voice up to a screeching tone, “What matters is he was a lying, no good, little bastard who makes up shit to get his way in life. My mother isn’t diseased, she was a good mare! I would have killed him too! What if they knew something we didn’t?”
"I'm not sure of what you mean? What could they have possibly known? I doubt they knew your father." I answered in return for her questions.
"There are so many things that he's hiding, no one would have ever known but him and wherever he was going to all of the time. He's a sneaky little guy with no intention of fixing what he did. He acted like he loved my mother when he saw her, I bet he was out cheating every single day he called off. He has some double life and I know it!" She yelled at me, it's like she knew something I didn't.
“I will get to the bottom of this,” she started, “Even if it kills me.”

I hope you enjoyed this first chapter, I got bored and kind of did it for my character's background story along with a gift for my boyfriend and I.
