//-------------------------------------------------------// The Kiss -by JesterOfDestiny- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The only chapter //-------------------------------------------------------// The only chapter It happened quite a while ago, at an average party in Ponyville. It was probably thrown by Pinkie, who even knows at this point. It’s not important. What is important, is that it made me realize a few things about both myself and my relatively newly found best friend, Bon Bon. The sun has gone down not long ago and everypony had at least a couple cups of cider in them. Nothing serious, just you know, it was enough to make us do things we otherwise wouldn’t. That’s when I found out that Bon Bon doesn’t drink. She reasoned that it’s because she really can’t handle it. Now I know the real reason. Anyway, she was a lot soberer than I was, obviously. And it’s generally not a good idea to play spin the bottle, when everypony around you is less sober than you are. Granted it was the truth or dare variety, when you can decide if you want to do something embarrassing or reveal something embarrassing. We were a few rounds deep into that game. I’ve found out things I never thought about before. Like just how hard it is to levitate yourself upside down and take a shot like that, especially after already taking a few shots. I also found out things I’d rather forget about. Like for example... Wait, I think it’d be easier to forget that if didn’t tell you. So yeah, it was going well. Golden Harvest had to balance a carrot on her nose while taking a shot, Berry Punch had to see how much she could drink from a straw in a single breath, Pokey Pierce popping something other than a balloon. That guy’s an absolute legend! Oh, and there was this one time when Derpy had to walk across a thin railing. Everypony was cheering so loud when she actually did it. And at some point, the bottle pointed at me. Like for the third time in a row. “That bottle must have a crush on me or something.” I cheered. “So, truth or dare?” “Dare! Duh! There’s nothing I won’t do.” “Ooh, you shouldn’t have said that!” Berry Punch grinned at me. “Come on,” Roseluck stepped in, “there’s a reason we didn’t let you come up with dares. You don’t want to repeat what happened last year.” “What happened last year?” I whispered to Bon bon. “I don’t know,” she replied, “this is the first time I’m in the same room with Berry Punch at a party.” “But guys,” Berry Punch said, “the bottle landed on her for the third time, that means I get to come up with a dare.” “You just made that up.” Caramel exclaimed. “No, I like that.” I said. “Come on, just hit me!” “I dare you to be hit by Berry Punch.” Derpy joked. “Not literally!” I chuckled. “It’s a party not a massacre!” Everypony laughed, which gave Berry Punch enough time to come up with my dare. “Okay, I have a good one.” She shouted. “I dare you to tongue kiss Bon Bon.” She said with an evil grin. A deep “oooh” came from everypony else. “What, no!” Bon Bon objected. “That’s a dare for me, not her!” “Well then, we’re just going to pretend the bottle landed on you.” Berry Punch insisted. “What? You can’t do that!” “Come on, kiss!” “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” Everypony started chanting. “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” I looked at Bon Bon. I wasn’t chanting, but she could tell I was ready to do the dare. She gave in. She leaned towards me, our lips touched and my tongue slipped inside her mouth. She was desperately trying to not look at me and pretended that everypony was cheering for something else. After a few seconds of that, when I put my tongue back to its place, she decided that was enough and she pushed me away. They cheered for us, while I was stupidly ignoring Bon Bon’s downright disgusted expression. The game ended not long after that. It became just a regular party, but with more cider. At some point, during the night, I noticed Bon Bon walking out the door. I excused myself and went after her. “You’re leaving already?” I shouted at her. “You know, there is a reason I avoid Berry Punch at parties.” She glared back at me, then kept walking. I went after her. “Come on, just admit you enjoyed that kiss.” “Lyra!” She rolled her eyes. “What? I enjoyed it!” “Well, of course you did! You’ve done this a lot, I could tell.” The anger in her voice, convinced me not to push that button any further. She fell silent for a few seconds. “You’re a good kisser, of course I enjoyed it.” The anger in her voice faded slightly, her cheeks turned red, even though I could tell she didn’t want them to. “I didn’t want to find that out, but I did.” “Look Bon Bon, I’m sorry I pulled you into that. I shouldn’t have done that.” “The fact that I enjoyed it in the slightest makes me feel... Strange. You know?” She explained. “I’m not attracted to you and I don’t feel that way about you. But physically, it felt good and I hate that.” She sighed. “I know, you probably don’t get me, you enjoyed it no problem.” “No, I get what you mean!” I said. “Of course, it’s easy for me to say I enjoyed it, I lean that way after all. But you don’t. And I am a good kisser, it would be weirder if you didn’t enjoy it.” I tried making her feel better. I’m not sure if that one in particular helped at all. “And honestly, it wasn’t as good as I anticipated.” “Gee, I’m sorry.” She groaned. “No, what I mean is,” I tried to explain, “I’ve done this a lot and I thought it was just going to be another one. But even though, I committed to it, it still wasn’t the same. I just simply can’t look at you like that. You’re my friend; I don’t feel that sort of attraction to you. Sure, it was easier for me, but I admit, I felt strange as well.” I paused for a bit, to see how she felt. The anger has faded from her face, though she was still upset. “Look,” I continued, “if I was offered the chance to do it again... I wouldn’t. I just wouldn’t. I don’t feel that way about you and I can’t enjoy... pretending to feel that way about you.” We arrived at our house. Bon Bon had a slightly more positive look on her face. “Honestly, I should have just kept to my policy of not being in the same room with Berry Punch at a party. I should have stood up for myself as well.” “No, I will not let you take the blame. I shouldn’t have pressured you into something you didn’t want. This is all on me... And Berry Punch. Stupid Berry Punch!” She chuckled. “Okay, I can take it from here; you can go back if you want.” She was finally smiling. I thought about it, but I wasn’t in the mood for that anymore. “Nah, I don’t want to be at the same party as Berry Punch is. I’d rather hang out with my best friend.”
