Applejack waved goodybye to Pinkie Pie and set off back home and just on instinct, she glanced at the clock on the Town Hall. She gulped. 6:36pm. She was meant to have been back at 6pm to help Big Mac with some apple bucking. He would kill her. Applejack ran some sums through her head. She didn't want to go back to do Apple bucking, her back was killing her. She didn't want to do any thing that would hurt her back more.

I'm already late, what difference is not turning up at all make?

If she turned up around 7-ish, Big Mac would be done, so no Apple bucking for her. But what to do to pass time? She may as well go visit Twilight. Actually, that was a good idea.

Applejack nodded thoughtfully as Twilight came to a conclusion of her speech on starry-whatsits and the relationship between the moon and the sea and a tonne of other stuff.

"Well, nice to see y'all, Twilight," Applejack said, eyeing the clock. "But it's time for me to leave." Twilight nodded and waved good bye.

Whistling, Applejack walked home. She walked up the path to Sweet Apple Acres and she saw Big Mac's silhouette up infront.

"And where were you, young lady?" Big Mac yelled. They were alone and he was angry, so Big Mac wasn't going to be quiet.

"I was-uh.." Applejack stopped herself. If he found out he had been with his friends, he wouldn't be happy. He'd make her do even more work then she had missed out on. Only one thing to do... Lie. The lie came quick and easy.
