Trial and Damnationby misstwipietwinsChaptersChapter 1Chapter 2Chapter 3Chapter 4Chapter 5Chapter 1“How long has it been?” Questioned Twilight drowsily, well more like slightly dazed. “ Almost 5 years...” Spike replied almost interrupting her. Twilight put down her glass of whiskey on the table next to all her scattered books, and papers. Her library was a mess, everything was unkempt and dusty. Her mane was frizzled and everywhere like the time Spike accidentally spat a fireball at her. Her fur was no different but thank Celestia that she at least showers, but sometimes alcohol stained her coat, or mostly her breath. Spike tries to clean the library but it’s hard to clean it when you’re the only one doing it. Twilight’s action stopped him from monologuing in his head any longer. The mare sighed and rubbed her already dampened eyes. She looked at the calendar, then the clock which read; “ 11:29 pm “. “ It’s almost the day…” “So it seems like it.” The dragon answered with a somber tone. They both shared a moment of silence, and with that carried an oppressing sinking feeling. Twilight wanted to say something else, something to change the subject but the lump in her throat, the buzz from the alcohol and the swirling thoughts in her head said otherwise. So she let the silence pass the time. Twilight sank her head on the table, tear starting to well up but not ready to fall just yet. She used her magic to levitate a near-empty bottle of whiskey to her empty cup. Great, she was drinking just heavily as last year. Spike moved closer and making sure he stepped over the empty glass bottles of alcohol varying from simple beer to straight up vodka. “Don’t think that you had enough -” “Let me have this Spike,” Twilight demanded well… almost angrily but it was more like a hiss from a cat. Her tears were falling now, at first it was a gentle as a stream, but now was a raging river. Spike flinched at Twilight’s uncharacteristic outburst that seemingly came out of nowhere but the dragon saw his friend’s tears. He needs to help his friend now, she needs to open up about the event that has her in this state. He has to help. Slowly regaining his composure Spike asked. “Hey Twilight, I do have to wonder…” Twilight turned her head to stare at Spike; tears still streaming down her face as he continued. “What did happen on that day that-that… “ He trailed off. The unicorn put a gentle hoof to the dragon’s lips, then quietly whispered. “I will tell you in the morning, you deserve that but...” Her words were starting to slur. “ The alcohol is starting to hit...” Spike shook his head in disappointment. Knowing the mess that will occur later. “Come on I’ll help you to bed. And in the morning I’ll get you some hangover medicine.” “Thank you, Spike my friend.” Spike smiled at her words. Even though she was kinda buzzed. “No problem, my friend.” And with that Spike helped her to bed, then preparing for the disaster that will happen later in the morning, before heading to bed himself. Author's Note Hope you guys enjoy reading this! Chapter 2Spike awoke to the sound of moaning of pain. Yep, the hangover has struck. He rubbed his eyes and slid off his bed. First going to the kitchen to get the medicine that he promised Twilight that he will get then a bucket because we all know the aftermath of a terrible hangover. He hoped that Twilight didn’t throw up everywhere like she did the first year, god it took almost all the lavender cleaner to rid of the smell of alcoholic vomit. “SPPIIIKKKEEE….” Twilight cried. “Hold on! I’m still grabbing the stuff!” Quickly searching the cabinets for where he had placed the medicine. Then, scurrying to get the bucket from the front closet and a bottle of water. Afterwards, he dashed as fast as he could to Twilight’s room. “Spike…” The mare said meekly, holding her hoof over her mouth. Quickly he handed over the bucket to her. She lifted the bucket towards her face with her magic and threw up. Spike grimaced due to the bombardment of smells, and how close she was to vomiting on her bed. When she was done, Spike pulled out the medicine out of the container it was sealed in, and the bottle of water and handed the items to the unicorn. She took the medicine and gulped down the water. Her hoof rubbing the excess water from her face. “Thank you-” “It’s alright Twilight...” Spiked intervened. “So about yesterday..” The mare looked at Spike confused at his statement. “W-what… about yesterday?” she murmured quietly. Spike cleared his throat of any lumps or anything that would make him stutter or whimper. “I asked… yesterday about what happened on the trip with the girls? You said you’ll tell me in the morning.” Twilight visibly went pale; tears were forming in her eyes. She buried her face in her hooves and sobbed. Spike stood there regretting asking her about it, maybe it wasn’t time just yet for her to talk about it. But it has been five years since the event, she did need to talk about it at some point and not have this trama slowly eat her alive. But then again it kinda sounded insensitive of him thinking such thoughts. “Twilight I-I’m sorry If I overstep-” “No Spike…” She croaked. “ I do need to talk about it, I hate how this memory taunts me in every waking moment, or how it haunts me in my dreams. And look what has become of me because of it; a coward, a drunken scholar, and a failed student...” The dragon was speechless and was unsure if he should respond at the moment. However, before he could open his mouth Twilight continued. “It has been five years since the event that is certain, but it still feels like it was yesterday.” Spike felt his own tears streaming down his face; he knew his friend was in pain but never realized how much it was affecting her. He could only see the outside damage but never the inside until now. Twilight rubbed his tears off his face then her own. “I’m sorry if I was rambling and reveling in my feelings-” Spike interrupts her with a tight hug. “Don’t feel sorry you were holding this in for a long time; I’m sorry that I couldn’t help you sooner. I was blind to this all this time.” Twilight hugged him back just as tight. “And it’s my fault for holding this in for 5 whole years, and letting it consume me...” Twilight took a deep breath in and out, then continued. “Maybe it is time to seek help, and talk about what happen that day.” Spike looked up at Twilight feeling victorious that he could finally help his friend in the ways that mattered. “Maybe we can go to Zecora’s; She may not be a therapist but she has remedies that could relax you while telling your story.” Spike mused. “Maybe, I dunno I’ll think about it...” “But first breakfast! Because I know you're just as hungry as I am after we spilled our feeling everywhere.” Spike and Twilight shared a good chuckle before they both got up and headed off in the direction of the kitchen. Spike felt the atmosphere lighten a bit since they both confessed their feelings towards each other. But he felt he could do better to lighten the mood. “Hey, Twilight?” “Yes, Spike?” “How about I make breakfast today?” Twilight cracked a little smile. “Sure Spike as long as you don’t you make your famous monster sized pancakes like you did that one time.” “Hey! In my defense, the mixer was going to fast, and the pans weren’t big enough. But at least there were some pancakes to eat!” The dragon retorted. Twilight started to laugh, and Spike felt his heart warm a bit. “Yes, but there was still the mess of excess batter all over the kitchen!” “All right, all right I won’t make my famous monster pancakes…” Spike puffed. “I will make my world famous Omelette!” The purple mare snorted. “Sure Spike that sounds Delightful!” She said through bursts of laughter. “Just as long as you don’t make a too of a mess in the kitchen.” And with those words, Spike set off to make his world-famous Omelette for his unicorn friend and making a mental note to set up a meeting with Zecora later. Author's Note Tell me of any mistakes/ grammar issues I'll be glad to fix them. Chapter 3Author's Note Zecora is coming I swear, also tell me what needs fixing etc! Also mentions of Twipie. Also there probably inconsistency I will fix it later. Chapter 3 “Hey Spike, where are you going?” Twilight spoke, well it more like a garbled mess because she was still eating. “Gonna run an errand!” Spike replied grabbing some bits before heading out the door. “Spike be careful okay?” she said quietly. “I will, I promise!” Spike cheerfully answered. And with that Spike headed out the door of the Golden Oaks Library, and out into the streets of Ponyville. It was a quaint little town with not much going on usually, but today it seemed a little quieter today, not a lot of ponies were out today. But he did see Derpy delivering mail to BonBon as usual. Continuing his walk to do his “errand” he passed by Sugar Cube Corner it seemed rather ghostly since he didn’t hear a particular party pony prancing about. Well actually he hasn’t heard from Pinkie, nor from AppleJack, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Rainbow. Without them, the town seemed desolate and empty. Spike felt a pang of dread within him; However, still content on not dwelling on the thought too much. Still, content on going to the Everfree. He hated the place; Timberwolves, Manticores and other mysterious creatures that dwell here. But he was doing for a reason: he was doing it for Twilight. With that thought, he ventured forward. - Cut to Twilight - Twilight wave to Spike as he went out of the door. She sighed; Cleaning up her, and Spike’s mess in the kitchen thankful that Spike actually didn't make a huge mess this time; but as she put the dishes, and cups in the sink; but then her head started to ache and throb. She put one hoof on the sink’s edge so she can try to balance herself and try not to fall, the other on her head. She felt like she was dying, her head was caving in on her but she did take the medicine that Spike gave her. Why was she feeling like this? Why this all of a sudden? “ Twilight you promise?” “I-I promise Pinkie, I’ll never leave you behind!” “Pinkie swear...?” “Pi-pinkie s-swear..” Twilight was breathing heavily now. “W-was that-” The throbbing became more like an earthquake or, maybe a construction pony drilling into a cement slab. The unicorn fell to the floor losing her grip on the sink and balance altogether. Now here she was curled up into a ball like a little filly, clutching her head as she moans in pain. “Rarity, RoseBud look out!!” “AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!” “NO! I WON’T LET YOU HURT THEM YOU COWARDICE BEAST!” “Applejack help the others escape, I’ll take care of this!” She went wide-eyed; her spell... it didn’t work, well it did but it only faded the memories, But what brought back the memories in full force? She drunk to forget along with the spell, but something brought it back, but what she swears she didn’t own- wait. Owned? Twilight despite her head throbbing, got up and looked in the sink. And if her eyes were practically bulging out of her head at this point, because there stood a mug, but not just any mug mind you. It was a mug Pinkie bought her from that god awful trip, saying “I travel the Everfree, Lively and free!”. She stared at the mug a surge of emotions shot through her; Rage, sadness, guilt maybe all three? Using her magic she picked up the glass object wondering if should throw it away, or against a wall. She decided against both and studied it more. “Hey, Twilight?” She nearly dropped the mug. Was-Was she going insane? Has madness knocked on her door? “Twilight I know this is crazy but, I am a conscious living memory of sorts… I don’t really know how to describe it so I thought I ask you! But you seem shocked! Did you forget the possible side effects of the spell? The mare gulped, the conscious memory was right this was a possible side effect and worse it sounded like a mare she had a crush on- no that sounds childish, an infatuation with: Pinkie Pie. “ I know you’re a busy mare n’ all but! I decided you need to cope with the truth! You can just hide it away forever!” “No!” Twilight shrieked. “I-I refuse to! I don’t want to suffer like I did that day-” “BUT YOU STILL ARE!” The voice retorted. “Look at you! You drink almost all the time, never leave the library, and you never write letters to Celestia anymore since that day don’t you think she’s worried about you?” Twilight froze when was the last time she wrote to Celestia? But when has she ever came to visit Twilight during the 5 years she was grieving. “ When has she visited me, when has she even thought about me or my friends; it is true that I have never gone out since that day but when has she took a little time to help her troubled alcoholic student? ” The voice was silent on that one. “Exactly.” Chapter 4Spike knocked on Zecora’s door silently praying that she was home. When he didn’t hear anything he knocked again. Some rusling, and bangs but no answer; but he didn’t try to knock again. Zecora opened the door confused at who was knocking then she looked down to see the dragon. “Oh I did not see you there, please do come in, as I see you brought wares.” “Actually, Zecora I came to tell tales. And buy something to help Twilight.” Spike and Zecora entered the hut, Spike taking a moment to look around in his new found surroundings. There was the cauldron filled with some unknown chemicals and such. There were of course her tribal masks on her wall, and books on alchemy and other subjects some were laying on tables or others organized messily on the bookshelf. “ I have all kinds of knick and knacks, but what time do you need to be back?” “Why?” Spike inquired. “Because certain remedies need time and preparation and I need to fix my workstation.” Once again, the dragon looked at the misplaced books, and scrolls then answered. “Probably before sunset, and let me help you fix up the place.” Zecora smiled before both began to fix up the hut before making a remedy for his friend. Cut To Twilight - Twilight and the holographic conscience memory cup, stood still in the quiet library home. Tension still rained in the air getting heavier and the silence grew on. “You know she still loves you, even after you stopped contacting her. Pinkie Pie too.” It spoke softly, careful not to make the purple unicorn angry again. Twilight sighed painfully at the sound of her name. “I don't think they love me anymore especially after what happened.” “Don't beat yourself up like that, you did everything to protect Pinkie Pie, and I'm sure Celestia will understand your actions if you explained to her.” “Can I explain to her? Without breaking down? I can't I barely contain my grief without throwing myself a pity party over it, and drinking myself to sleep every night.” Twilight croaked. “ I can’t even tell Spike..” “Yes you can he cares about you a lot even though he doesn't know or what happened on that day. He is willing to listen to you, and is willing to go great lengths to hear you out. And you know that.” Twilightsmiled at the thought of Spike, who had been there whenever been depressed, feeling joyful, or sorrowful he been there through it all. And I’m pretty sure the conscience memory smiled too but it was hard to tell since it was a cup. “Alright I'll tell him, I'll tell him everything when he gets home.” “Good, and by the way you might want to grab me.” “What for?” The cup stopped glowing and started to fall to the floor. “OH FUCK!” Twilight grabbed the cup with her magic before it hit the floor. “Holy hell, that was close…” Twilight puffed. She moved the cup closer to her face closely examining it to make sure the side effects of the memory memory spell worn out. She sighed in relief when no magic residue was found. No more of that shenanigan again. But she did feel a bit better after the fact, and confidant. So she promised herself, that she will tell Spike and not chicken out. Perhaps she thought, she deserves a cup of tea, and a good book to congratulate herself. So she washed out the cup she was holding, grabbed a pot filled it with water and turned on the stove, and place the pot on the stove. Then, walking in to the library to pick out a good book; Ah, A Catcher in the Rye. This was one of Twilight’s favorites besides : The History of Magic and Alchemy, Chasing Vermeer, The entire works of Shakespeare honestly she could go on and on but this story will grow awfully boring, and too long so let's get to the point. Twilight waits a bit until the pot of water boils, and grabs a tea bag and sugar from the pantry, and her cup from the countertop. She fills the cup with water puts a tea bag in and grabs the cup and sugar, and heads out into the library and sets the tea on the table next to the book she choice, and pulls up her favorite chair to read and drink tea, waiting for Spike to come home Chapter 5Something has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter.
