The Olympian Chronicles (Crossover)
The Paradox
Previous ChapterSorry this chapter took so long. Mostly because of lazyness. I've also been building a Minecraft map based on Rainbow Factory by Aurora Dawn. (You can follow the progress here: http://www.youtube.com/user/chaosmuffinminecraft )
From this point on, this story will be one big crossover. I plan on incorporating a lot of things into this story that wouldn't make sense without doing ALL the crossovers. So, without further ado, here's the next chapter :3
Well, horsefeathers...
"Rainbow was JUST here," I said, "and then she left... does this mean I have to go and find her?"
"No," Annabeth replied, "but you need to find a way to traverse the time vortex."
Twilight spoke up, "I'm not sure if this helps, but if you need something strange, Pinkie's probably your best bet. She once told me she knows the universe like the back of her hoof."
"That's a little strange," I said, "but I guess I'll give it a shot."
I walked out the door and began to head towards Sugarcube Corner. As I approached, I began to hear really loud music coming from inside. "What's going on in there..." I wondered aloud.
I opened the door, and saw Pinkie dashing from counter to counter. "Gotta get these ready!!!" She frantically said to herself.
I coughed.
"OhhiTridentdidn'tseeyouthereI'mbusyrightnowOHWAITCANYOUHELPME?!?!?!?" She said, suddenly turning to me with a sparkle in her eyes.
"Depends, what with?"
"Can you take these muffins over to Derpy at the Post for me? I really need to finish this order of cupcakes, but I can't leave her hanging, I mean, GOSH, she's grumpy without her muffins, I mean this one time-"
"I got it," I interrupted her, trying to think of a way to ask her this in a way that made sense but finding none, "by the way, do you know how to traverse universes?"
She stopped, like she was choosing her words carefully, "Only one pony can do such a thing, Trident. Honestly, I don't know where he is right now."
"That's cool. I'll find another way, I guess." I grabbed the muffins and left, and out of the corner of my eye, I could've sworn a tear fell from her eye...
I began to walk towards the Post Office. I had seen the grey mare a few times before while walking around, but never talked to her in person.
As I walked to the front desk, the clerk looked at me suspiciously. Apparently ponies don't really visit the office much. "Can I speak to Derpy, please?"
The clerk chewed a pencil, "I haven't seen her for a few hours. Last I saw of her, a brown stallion ruffled her hair and walked her to the street... Now that I think of it, she disappears with him constantly. She always returns the same day, though, so don't get worried."
As if on cue, the grey mare walked in, her eyes swirling and her mane slightly disheveled. "H-hi guys!" She said with a bubbly voice.
"Hello, Derpy..." The clerk said, rolling her eyes, "have fun with your coltfriend while I was covering for you?"
Derpy blushed, "It's not like that... He's hard to explain."
This seemed a bit too familiar to me. I used to watch a lot of television before Camp Half-Blood, and this struck a nerve...
While I wasn't paying attention, their argument had escalated quickly.
"YOU WORK FOR ME, DERPY!"
"THAT'S NOT MY NAME! AND I CAN GET ANOTHER JOB IF I WANT TO!"
"What, your coltfriend is gonna give you a job?"
"He can't. He's not even pony! He's human!"
The entire office froze. A mint-colored pony excitedly peered out from another door.
I finally spoke, "What did you just say?"
She realized what she had done only a few moments too late, "Nothing! I didn't say anything!"
I looked her dead in the eyes and whispered, "I need to see this 'human' now. You don't know how important this is."
Her eyes darted to the left, "I'm not sure if that's a good idea, mister. I don't even know who you are."
"It doesn't matter," I said, "I'm human too."
The moment I said that, the air turned cold. The mint mare looked at me with... envy? Whatever. Anyway, Derpy just shut up and agreed with me after I said it.
As we walked out of the office, I asked, "If your name isn't Derpy, what is it?"
"Ditzy Doo. But I prefer just Ditzy. I have a sister you might know of, her name is Daring?"
"Sorry, never heard of her."
We walked in silence for a few minutes before reaching a phone box. It was old-timey, one of the ones you would see in old movies.
A brown stallion walked out of the box. "Oh hello, Ditzy, who's your friend? I'm Time Turner." He said with a smile. He had a British accent.
"Trident. I'm human."
He froze, his smile fading, "So I'm not the only one. Brilliant, I suppose."
"I need to get back to my world, but only temporarily. Do you know how it's done?"
His face became solemn, "Yes, but there has to be a solid reason for it, otherwise, the universe will simply erase you."
"We need to find somepony over there. He's key to saving this world."
"Solid enough, mate. In order to open the portal, first you must find the person most connected with said man. Then you must create a paradox."
"How do I create a paradox?"
"No idea. Good luck. Meet me here when both are complete."
After leaving Time Turner, I walked to Rainbow Dash's house. "DASH!" I called out.
I heard a groan from behind me. I looked up, and there's Dash, trying to sleep on a cloud, "Whaaaaaaat?"
"I need to borrow you for a minute."
"But whyyyyyyy? I'm sleeeeepiiiing..."
I sigh, "Dash, do you know any humans?"
She sat bolt upright, glaring straight at me, no longer even partially asleep, "Who told you? I am NOT about to relive the saddest moment of my life, okay? Do NOT talk about him to me!"
"Dash, I'm going to bring him here. I don't know what he means to you, but I have to find him."
She laughed, "yeah, I can see what you're up to. You're trying to induce some FEELS from me, aren't you? Not gonna happen."
"Just come with me and find out. I have to go back to Ditzy Doo in a minute."
She stopped, "Daring's sister is on board with this?"
"Yeah," I said, confused, "what about it?"
"Okay, I'm in," She said.
"Are you going to explain this sudden change of heart?"
"I trust Ditzy with my life. I went on an adventure with her and her sister once... Then some guy wrote a book about it, "The Sisters Doo," it was called." (For the record, this is an actual story. Look it up, good read.)
"Okay, do you know how to make a Paradox?"
"Sure. Pinkie Pie does it all the time."
Why does this not surprise me?
We walk over to Sugarcube Corner, where the music has died down. Pinkie greets us at the door.
"Did you find anything?" She asks with a smile.
"Yeah, Time Turner said-"
"You- you found him?" She gasps.
"Yeah...?"
"Show me." She says, disbelief splattered all over her face.
So we walk back to the phone box. Time Turner sees Pinkie and his face goes white. "Er... Miss Pie, how are you?"
"You can STUFF IT, Turner. You left me here as a universal paradox! You didn't even TRY to fix me!"
"I'm not going to ask what this is about," I said, "But Dashie and I really need to get this going. I'm running out of time."
"Fine, but I will be talking to you when you get back." She says to Time Turner.
She takes a deep breath, "This is a story. All people, ponies and things are being written by a man who goes by the name of Derpymuffin24."
The universe began to fold to destroy this bit of information that had left her lips. The words were destroyed, and not a single pony remembered them but Time Turner and Pinkie.
I blinked, "What just happened?"
Ditzy did the same at the same time. I smiled at her, and she looked away shyly.
"The paradox was fixed," Time Turner said plainly, "Now let's go."
