"The Dictator of Equestria,,the conqueror of Celestia,the future Emperor of the world!"
The General announced his leader,upon the set-up stage in the new nation's Capitol.
It was the end of the latest and worst All-out war in Equestria.Several nations had grouped together,forming a Alliance of a sort,and set their sights upon taking over the world.The Equestrian Army had set out to destroy the invaders,but with little luck.Within 7 months,Equestria laid in ruins,and Celestia and the Elements of Harmony,defeated.They were currently being held captive in cages next to the stage,forced to witness the Dictators "Victory Speech".
The General stared out at the massive crowd that had gathered there.He lifted his hoof to wipe the sweet off of his face.
'Damn uniform.Why they make us wear black coats in 90 Degree weather,I shall never know' He thought.But his feelings of annoyance did not reflect upon his image,today was the Dictator's day.
The Dictator sat in a folding chair a few feet away,watching the crowd of terrified ponies,who were caught in warfare,just days before.
The Dictator was very,VERY nervous.In actuality,he was not really a "Dictator" or leader himself.He was the pony chosen to be represented by a council of the true leaders of the nations who had attacked.The population,in truth,had no idea in the "Council" and had fully believed that the fake "Dictator" was the "Real one". All he did was to make the Council look good.
In fact,much of the Pony's who had fought for the attacking leaders actually hated them,but did not dare rebel against them,for each had a strong presence over their own populations.
And,at that very stage,their was a plot for over throwing the new government coming into place.Some of the Officers had decided to finally go against their leaders wishes,and had deformed a plane to set a chain of events into motion which would lead to the eventual destruction of the leaders.The chosen "Dictator" was supposed to give a speech that encouraged the Soldiers and Public to take arms against their overlords.
The "Dictators" Right hand pony,who was also in the plot to overthrow the government,was getting antsy and impatient.
He lightly nudged him with his hoof,getting the nervous Dictator's attention.
"You must speak." He whispered,gesturing to the crowd of Soldiers and Civilians.
"I cant!" He whispered back,afraid that his meager speaking talents would not be enough to persuade the crowd to take arms.
"You must.It's our only hope." And it was.After that,the council would take over,and begin their crack down on anypony who dared stand against them.This would be the only chance to save a nation of suffering ponies.
"Hope....." He whispered,starting to make his way out of the chair and towards the podium.
He barely knew what the word meant.He was just a random Comedian the Council had picked out,and had gotten caught in the Rebellion.
He slowly made his way to the podium,looking out at the vast see of ponies before him,all eyes trained on him.
The General had raised his hoof in salute to the Dictator,and had put his hoof down when the Dictator finally made his way to the podium.
Several Magically Enhanced Microphones were attached to the podium.They were tuned to broadcast his words to the entire world,on every radio station and channel wave possible.
The Dictator looked to his Right hand pony,as if to say 'I can't do this!'.But the pony merely nodded his head,as if to say 'Well,get on with it then!'
He breathed,extremely nervous,into the four microphones presented before him.He quickly chose the best words he could find in his head,forming the best possible combination that would end with the desired result:Rebellion.He was a comedian,it was his job to think of the right words at the right time.That was why he was chosen by the Council in the first place.
He took a quick breath,glanced at the waiting Officer's whose lives depended on this very speech,and he turned his attention the the crowd.
And he spoke.
"I'm sorry, but I don't want to be a Emperor - that's not my business.I don't want to rule on conquer anypony.I should like the help everypony, if possible.Jew, gentile, black pony,white.We all want to help one another;ponies are like that.We want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery.We don't want to hate and despise one another.In this world there's room for everypony and the good earth is rich and can provide for everypony."
"The way of life can be free and beautiful."
"But we have lost the way."
"Greed has poisoned ponies souls,has barricaded the world with hate, has goosed-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in.Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want.Our knowledge has made us cynical,our cleverness hard and unkind.We think to much and feel to little.More than machinery,we need harmony.More than cleverness we need kindness gentleness.Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost."
"The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together.The very nature of these inventions cries out foe the goodness of ponies,cries out for the universal brotherhood for the unity of us all.Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world,millions of despairing stallions,mares,and little foals, victims of a system that makes ponies torture and imprison innocent ponies."
"To those who hear me I say, "Do not despair." The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of ponies who fear the way of pony progress.The hate of ponies will pass and Dictators will die;and the power they took form the ponies will be returned to the ponies and so long as ponies die, liberty will never perish."
He began to speed up his speech,developing a hint of anger and frustration in his tone.
He then turned to the awe-struck soldiers in the crowd and began to speak again.
"Soldiers: Don't give yourselves to brutes, ponies who despise you,enslave you,who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel;who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural ponies,machine ponies, with machine minds and machine hearts!You are not machines!You are not cattle!You are ponies!You have the love of harmony in your hearts.You don't hate; only the unloved hate, the unloved and unnatural."
"Soldiers: Don't fight for slavery!Fight for liberty!In the seventeenth of Saint Luke is written, "the kingdom of Celestia is within pony" -- not one pony, nor a group of ponies,but in all ponies,in you, you the ponies have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness.You the ponies have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure."
"Then,in the name of democracy, let us use that power!Let us all unite!! Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give ponies a chance to work,that will give youth the future and old age a security.By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power,but they lie!They do not fulfill their promise; they never will.Dictators free themselves,but they enslave the ponies!! Now, let us fight to fulfill that promise!! Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance.Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all ponies happiness!"
"Soldiers:In the name of democracy, let us all unite!!!"
He concluded his speech with that final statement.
The crowd cheered,they tore down the chained fences surrounding the stage and stormed the streets,hollering and shouting,and the soldiers followed suit,attacking any other soldiers who remained loyal to the Council.The Rebelling Ponies broke the cages containing Celestia and the Elements,who began to round up soldiers and began planning on what to do.
Meahnwhile,the Dictator was proud of himself.He was still shocked about everything,the Rebellion,the speech,everything.He just stood on the stage,watching everything unfold before his eyes.When the Rebels had cleared out,he was still standing on the stage,lost in his thoughts.Then he was interrupted by a feminine and sweet voice.
"Thank you.For all that you have done for us." said Celestia,who had came back to thank him for his fantastic speech.
"It was my duty as a pony.Thank you." he told her.
With no more to say,Celestia flew off,getting back to the Elements and their new Rebel Army he had created.
He stood like that for a while,then he went back and sat on his empty folding chair,watching the sun set and Luna's night begin.
'You did good Hynkel.You did good.'
