Daring Do and The Jeweled Opal

For now you ignore the stranger's words and make a beeline for the small lamp that sits across the room. Whoever this pony is, they can introduce themselves in a properly lit room.

Once on, the lamp illuminates the room with its dim, amber glow. You look back to the visitor and see a dark green earth pony dressed in a pressed three piece suit sitting in your favorite reading chair. A bushy gray beard hangs off his chin as a pair of thick lensed glasses balance themselves on the notch of his snout. His eyes have a subtle wisdom behind their lavender color, a mark of a studious and world wary pony.

He squints at the sudden light, but quickly recomposes himself as he stands. "Yes quite. Firstly I would like to apologize for the intrusion. You're reputation proceeds you," he begins, walking across the short distance between you and him. "I know you're not one for visitors and I wasn't sure if you would simply ignore my offer without giving it thought." He stands before you and politely extends a hoof, "my name is Professor Bookmark."
