//-------------------------------------------------------// Cards of fate -by Shattered love- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Deiknumena, what is shown //-------------------------------------------------------// Deiknumena, what is shown Ocellus continued to study the box in front of her. Using her magic to levitate a nearby brush. She gently swept the dirt off the box and onto her desk. Which she then swept off into a nearby trash can. The box itself was small and it looked to be made out of a strange metal. Taking the brush in her magical hold; she removed more dirt. She saw that the box was decorated with only two large red gems. Possibly, whatever was kept inside it was very important to whatever or whoever owned the box before. She then set her brush down and with her magic. She gently opened the box; sending a large amount of dust flying into the air. She coughed a little after inhaling a little bit of the dust. Eventually she managed to get the lid off. She then looked inside the box and inside she saw another, smaller, box. “Huh?” She asked herself while using her magic to gently lift the box up and out. Placing the smaller box on her desk; she took notice that it was a little cleaner that the box it was kept in. The box also had strange symbols drawn on it. Symbols, that she did not recognize. She eventually saw a way to open the box. Once again she used her magic to open the box. Gently, she emptied the box. And, from the box fell a deck of cards. To, say she was confused was an understatement. Who would go to that much for a deck of cards. She looked into the box again and saw a small folded up piece of paper. She picked it up and unfolded the paper. On the inside of the paper was a single sentence. Written in a language she could read. “Do not trust Jinai he is not your friend or your enemy.” She read out loud as she set the paper down on her desk. “Who's Jinai?” She asked herself before studying the deck of cards again. As she studied the cards she saw each of them had a different image and number on them. As she shuffled through the cards; from the deck fell another piece of paper. She set the deck down and unfolded the piece of paper. Inside the paper looked to be instructions. “Concentrate on the face of the one you wish to see. Then, in a clear voice say, “Reveal to me Deiknumena, Dromena, Legomena.”. On a paper fold the fate. Close your eyes and wait for the chosen's voice. Once the voice has been heard; unfold and see what is destined.” Upon reaching the end of the note. She was completely confused now. Before she was about to set the paper aside; she saw more writing on the back. But, by the way writing looked. This was written by something else not the owner of the deck. The words read, “Nothing is set in stone. Nothing is ever destined. Save, those you can!”. She then set the paper aside. “What is this?” She asked herself. She looked at the cards and then back at the paper. With a sigh she opened a drawer on her desk and pulled out her notebook. She then opened the book and tore out a piece of paper. Setting the paper in front of her; she began to think about who to try this on. After a few short seconds; she made up her mind and concentrated on the face of her teacher, Pinkie Pie. With a deep breath she said the words. “Reveal to me,” She began, “Deiknumena,” Suddenly, the deck of cards flew in front of her. She screamed in surprise while she fell out of her chair. Looking up from the floor; she saw the deck hovering in the air. Then from the deck a card came and landed on the paper she had place on the desk. With a gulp she continued, “Dromena,” The deck shuffled itself and then another card came from the deck. Landing on top of the other card, “Legomena.” She finished. The deck shuffled and a third card came from the deck. Landing on the other two; she then got off the floor and looked at them. She then folded the paper over the cards. She then closed her eyes and waited for the voice. “Help me.” The voice of her teacher begged. She gasped as she turned around; although nopony was standing behind her. She swore that she heard her teacher whisper in her ear. She turned to look back at the paper and with a gulp; she unfolded it. What she saw almost made her heart stop. The cards were spread out and turned to reveal the images on them. Above the cards the words “Deiknumena, Dromena, and Legomena.” were written. Underneath Deiknumena was a card with two ponies drawn on it. One was a mare that rested on a cloud in front of a night sky. The mare appeared to be looking and reaching down. Below the mare was a stallion; that stood before a rising sun. He was looking up and reaching up towards the mare. In the middle of the card their hooves touched. She then looked below the card and read the words written bellow. “VI, The lovers?” She asked before looking towards the card underneath Dromena. The image in the middle card was hard to describe; it looked like a large sphere was sitting on a mare. She didn't know what to make of the image; until she looked into her desk mirror. She saw that the image was upside down. It was the image of a pregnant mare in the middle of a magnificent forest. She was looking down at her stomach; holding it with care while smiling happily. Around her two birds flew; one looked like a robin while the other looked like a dove. She then looked at the words below. “Princess of Pentacles?” She only knew of four princesses. Was there another that she did not know about? No, in Equestria there were only four Princesses. One of the sun, One of the moon, One of love, and One of magic. She shook her head moved looked at the final card underneath Legomena. What she saw made her blood run cold. The image of the card was a skeleton rising up from a grave. On its left was a owl with a glare. While in its right hand it carried a black as night scythe. Around the skeleton looked almost a burial ground. “XIII,” She gulped as she read the next part, “D-D-Death.” She finished. She then felt something pull on her; with a gasp she found herself in a hospital. She looked around; her breathing close to hyperventilating. She saw all her teachers standing around a bed. Where her teacher Pinkie pie lay. All of them were crying; while Pinkie just lay silently in bed. “I'm sorry.” She heard the words echo before she was returned to her room. Ocellus was scared beyond belief. What was that she had just saw? Was that even real? Shaking her head and turning off her lamp. She quickly got herself ready for bed; knowing well sleep was not gonna come so easy for her tonight. Her body shook in fear; while her mind raced to try and make since at what she just experienced. She did eventually fall asleep. But, in her dreams stood a figure. A figure she could not tell what it was. The only thing she could see was its smile. A smile that could rival Chrysalis's wicked smiled. The following morning started off like every other morning. She would meet up with her friends in the school courtyard. And, then they would head off to class. Of course the events from last night were still fresh in her mind. She checked her schedule and saw that Professor Pinkie's class was her third class of the day. Her first two were Fluttershy's- her favorite teacher- and Rarity's class. She still wonder what the cards meant. The Lovers? Princesses of Pentacles? Death? She was so focused on the cards; that she ended up bumping into Smolder. “Sorry.” Ocellus quickly apologized. “It's fine,” Smolder replied not caring about being run into, “Are you okay?” She asked. “Yes,” Ocellus lied while she grinned nervously, “Just something on my mind.” She finished with a half-truth. “What's wrong?” Asked Sandbar. Ocellus had to come up with something quick, “Just worried,” She lied while she quickly though of a reason to be worried, “I misplaced some notes I took for Miss, Fluttershy's class.” She finished causing Gallus to laugh a little. “Why are you worried about that?” He chuckled while they turned to look at him, “You're the top student in that class.” He finished earning himself a smack to the back of his head from Smolder. Before they could carry on the conversation the bell for class rang. They school day continued on like normal. Fluttershy, had decided to bring a doe to class. She taught the students how to not startle the deer; how to befriend it. And, she even let each of them feed the deer. Which Ocellus really enjoyed. That was one of the many reasons she loved the class. When the class ended it was Rarity's class. Where they learned about dress designs and their meanings. She even brought in a dress she was asked to make for a wedding. The dress was a beautiful pearl white; with a floral design going up and down. She said that the mare had made a custom order; on the dress she wanted myrtle flowers added to it. She went on to explain to say that a myrtle flower symbolized love. But, it was not ordinary love. No, it stood for everlasting love and unity through marriage. The bell rang and Ocellus knew what was up next. She was in no hurry to get to Pinkie pie's class. Slowly she walked into the classroom and took her seat. Trying her best not to think about the cards or the experience she had. The bell rang for the class to begin; as they were about to open their text books. The sound of a confetti cannon being shot rang out. Making them all jump and laugh as their teacher hopped onto her desk. “Good morning everybody.” Pinkie pie said happily before jumping down from her desk. “Morning, Miss Pie.” The students greeted. “Hey!” Pinkie shouted playfully as she looked at her students, “Miss Pie is my mother.” She finished with a laugh. Before, turning to her chalkboard to start the lesson. Class was half over when Ocellus had looked up to the clock. She wasn't as worried as she was before she came to class. She shook her head of the thought's that worried her. Finding it silly now; that she worried so much about some cards. She then looked back towards her teacher. Who was drawing a balloon alligator on the chalkboard. “Next, we're gonna try a difficult,” She then released a sharp gasp as a wave of pain shot through her. She found herself gasping a little as she tried to steady herself. She looked up at her students and saw looks of worry on their faces. She tried to put on her best smile, “I'm okay,” She lied as another wave of pain shot from her stomach, “I'm okay.” She finished as she suddenly became light headed and dizzy. It was then one of her students had screamed. She looked up and saw her students had horrified looks. Following her gaze to the floor below her; she saw that there was a large puddle of blood underneath her. It was then her hoof holding her up slipped. She then fell hitting her head on the table before hitting the floor. Ocellus watched in horror as Silverstream flew out of the class to get Twilight. Her teacher had just started bleeding and had just fallen to the floor. As the students quickly got to her side; she heard her teacher whisper two words. Two words she had heard just hours ago. “Help me.” Pinkie begged before she passed out. The rest of the school day was filled with worry. The students wanted to know what had happened to their teacher. And, they wanted to know if she was going to be okay. Ocellus was left in shock; it had happened. Her teacher had just died in front of all of them. The cards had predicted her death. Instead of waiting for the school day to end. Ocellus, had transformed herself into a fly and hitched a rid to the hospital. Still as a fly she waited in one of the plants in the waiting room. Waiting, with all her teachers. Who had looks of worry and concern. Almost an hour later a stallion doctor walked into the room. A tear fell from her eye; she knew what he was going to say next. But, he did not say it; instead he motioned for them to follow him. Ocellus immediately flew and landed on top of Fluttershy's head. She wondered where they were going; she got her answer when they reached a room and entered. Inside the room was her teacher, Pinkie. She was lying on her side and under here eyes were dried tear stains. “What happened?” She asked herself. “I'm sorry.” The doctor apologized as he started to make his way out of the room. “Wait,” Rainbow dash had stopped him as they all looked towards him. While he looked back, “What was it?” She asked unaware that she was confusing Ocellus. The doctor took in a deep breath and with a sigh he replied, “A little filly.” He answered before walking out of the room. To say Ocellus was terrified would not describe the horror she felt. The cards had not showed the fate of her teacher. Rather, they had shown the fate of her unborn foal. And, she knew it was gonna happen. It was too much for her. She flew off of Fluttershy's head and had transformed back into her own form. Ignoring the call from her teachers as she ran out of the hospital and back to the school. When she had reached her room she ran over and stared down at the cards. A large amount of anger surged through her body and into her horn. The anger then manifested itself into a burning spell. Which she cast on the deck of cards; hoping to burn them to ash. But, the cards did not burn. She then screamed and knocked them to the floor. “Why?” She sniffled as she fell to the floor, “Why didn't I stop it?” She asked herself as the tears began to fall again. “Because that was one of the unavoidable ones.” A deep uncaring voice replied. Ocellus screamed in fear as she looked towards her bed. On the bed was the creature she had seen in her dreams. The head resembled a changeling; but everything else about its body was different. Its body looked like a gryphons. Its right front leg looked like a deer leg. While it's left was a talon. Its back legs looked like a lizards hind legs. And, it had the tail of a rattle snake. “Who?” Ocellus began in fear, “Who are you?” She asked. The creature smiled its wicked smile, “I'm Jinai,” It answered with a sickening chuckle, “And, those were my cards.” He finished. Ocellus felt her mind and heart stop. That was Jinai and the cards she had just used were his. In a move faster than she had ever made. She walked over and picked up his cards; only to levitate them over him. “Take them back! Take them!” She demanded only to see him push them away. “Can't do that,” He said with a wicked grin, “You own them now.” He finished. “No!” She shouted before letting the cards fall to the floor, “I don't want them! Take them back!” She almost screamed. Jinai then floated off her bed and stood in front of her. Just as the deck of card flew in between them. He looked down at her, “Not how it works kid. When you opened the box; that made you the owner of the cards,” He informed her before he moved his mouth closer to her ear. Making her gasp in horror as she shut her eye. He had decided to show off his fangs; which looked like that of a rattle snakes, “And you will remain owner until you die.” He whispered another sinister chuckle escaping from him. After a while Ocellus eventually got off the floor and onto her bed. While Jinai reclined himself in mid-air. She stared at him while he relaxed in the air. She then looked at the cards and back to him, “What are those?” She asked. Jinai yawned, “Key's.” He answered in a uncaring tone. “Key's?” Ocellus asked. “Key's, windows, glimpses,” He listed off before looking towards her, “Fate.” He finished. “Fate?” Ocellus asked. Jinai grinned again, “That's right kid, fate,” He explained as he levitated the cards in front of him, “You see I'm a fate and these cards tell me everything about you and everyone else,” He spoke in his deep, sickening voice, “Well, that was until you found them. So, now they will only show you.” He finished. Ocellus looked at him and then to the deck. Using her magic she pulled the deck towards her and took out the three cards. She then placed them on her desk; making sure to place them in the correct way she had seen them earlier. She looked at him and then pointed to the cards, “Well these cards of yours are wrong,” She spoke in a voice filled with hurt, “They didn't show the fate of Miss Pinkie,” She sniffled a little as she tried to hold back tears, “They showed the fate of.” “Her foal,” Jinai interrupted as he moved closer to the cards, “Oh, they did what you asked them to,” He then looked at the cards and chuckled as he looked at the first one, “It was your job to understand what they predicted.” He finished as looked at the first card and chuckled, “Wonder who the luck guy was?” He said. “My job!” Ocellus yelled in anger, “This cards just showed me images that made no sense!” Jinai looked at her, “They make perfect sense if your a fate who knows how to read them,” He replied before looking towards the first card, “The lovers. It meant one night she either took a relationship she had to another level. Or, she had a one night stand and he was loaded with live rounds,” He then looked towards the middle card, “Princess of Pentacles, goddess of fertility and protector of new mothers,” He explained the card, “But, it's upside down meaning that they mare was not protected,” He then moved towards the final card, “Meaning that death was going to collect a soul today.” He finished with a smile that made Ocellus shiver. “So,” She began, “These cards were warning me.” Jinai interrupted her again, “That your teacher was going to have a miscarriage,” He laughed before floating in the air again, “That's right and there was nothing you could do about it.” He finished. Ocellus stood up, “Then why did they show it to me?!” She yelled in anger. “Now that would be telling.” He replied before he vanished. Ocellus looked around for any sign of him; yelling out in anger as she looked at the cards. Watching as the three cards she had pulled out; flew right back into the deck. Thinking about what she was going to do with the cards; she began to think about the words Jinai had used. He had said she could not stop that one? Making her wonder if she could possibly stop others from happening. She mentally scolded herself as she sat at her desk. She began to think about her friend Sandbar. “Reveal to me.” Author's Note Hello, I am new here and this is my very first fiction. I've been a fan of the show and I am kind nervous about this. I am open to criticism. but can you please go easy on me and just tell me what I can improve on. I've read some stories on this site that get lots of hateful and mean comments. I'm sorry if my writing is terrible. but I do want to improve on it if I need to. anyway, I'm shattered love and this is my first fanfiction of My Little Pony. //-------------------------------------------------------// Dromena, what is done //-------------------------------------------------------// Dromena, what is done Ocellus sat on a low hanging tree branch as she watched Sandbar. She had taken the form of a bluejay. Just, so that she could spy on her friend. No, not spy, just keep watch over him. Today, was a day off from school for all of them. Meaning she could keep an eye out for any danger her friend may be in. Right now, he was in the middle of a small fair that had come to the town. Walking around; looking at the various games, rides, and food stands that were set up. It made her feel jealous for him; her having to guard him. While he had all the fun. “How long do you plan on doing this?” asked the voice of Jinai. She screamed in surprise and almost fell off the branch. She shot him a glare while he laughed at her, “That was not funny!” she hissed in anger while she rebalanced herself and started to look for Sandbar, “Great, I lost him.” she sighed. “You're really gonna play the stalker today, huh?” He asked. “I'm not stalking him,” Ocellus huffed eventually finding her target, “I'm just making sure he doesn't get hurt.” she answered. “Hurt?” Jinai asked. “Yes,” she replied before flying to a nearby flagpole. Balancing herself again; while her unwanted guest hovered in the air, “I read his fate last night. And, I am not going to allow him to get hurt.” she finished explaining. “What was his fate then?” Jinai asked in an uncaring manor. Ocellus had a look of determination appear in her eyes; while Sandbar walked over to a cotton candy stand. She was going to do everything she could to keep him from getting hurt today. After all; the cards showed her his fate last night. (Flashback) “Deiknumena,” she said as the first card flew from the deck, “Dromena,” the deck shuffled and the second card came, “Legomena.” she finished. For the third one she noticed the deck had shuffled itself a little longer. What surprised her was that two cards flew from the deck. Not one. She quickly folded up the paper and closed her eyes. Waiting to hear the voice of her friend. She didn't have to wait for long. “Please, don't leave me.” Her eye's shot open and she opened the folded paper; underneath Deiknumena was a card of a stallion. The stallion had a large wheel or shield leaning against him. While in his magical hold he held a large spear. There was an eagle flying above him. While a ram stood behind him looking the other way. Above them a massive storm unleashed its furry. “IV, The Emperor.” It made her think of one of Applejack's classes. She had told the kids the story of how they defeated the storm king. And, by the way the card looked; that stallion could possibly be another. She then looked at the card underneath Dromena. The image was another stallion; who stood before the sun. Around him strange symbols floated. While in his hooves he held two swords. One that seemed to glow with pure magical energy. While the other was made of fire. What scared her was the large snake that had coiled itself around his body. And, by the way he was dressed. He looked almost like a king. She then read the cards name. “XIX, The Sun.” Was that how the sun looked like in pony form? She wondered before looking to the last two. Underneath Legomena she recognized one of the cards. It was VI, The Lovers. But, the card next to it was new. It was a mare who sat in front of a destroyed home. Behind the home was a burnt forest. The mare had tears falling from her eyes; while she held out her hooves. Around her sat five strange cups. “Five of cups?” She asked herself before she was pulled from her room. Only to suddenly end up standing just outside the school. She started to quickly search for her friend; hoping that she could see what was going to happen. Before she was returned to her room. She did find him. But, what she saw made her shed a few tears. Sandbar, was lying on the ground. His body covered in bruises and one of his eyes was black. She could also hear him crying. “Sandbar!” She heard a muffled voice call out to him. Before she could tell where the voice had come from; she found herself sitting at her desk in her room. She released a small hiss of anger; before looking down at the cards. This time she had a better understanding of them. “Okay,” She spoke while letting out a small sigh, “Okay, from what you showed me. Someone is going to hurt Sandbar,” She talked to the cards that just remained on the table, “So, now it's my job to figure out who it is. And, I have to stop them.” She finished. “You know they are just cards right?” Asked Jinai who suddenly appeared above her. Making her fall out of her chair with a scream, “I'm never going to get tired of this.” He laughed as she shot him a glare. (End of Flashback) “I'm surprised that you're already getting your first four,” Jinai commented as he floated next to her, “I didn't get that till my fifth year with the deck.” He finished. Ocellus then looked at him in anger, “Can't you go somewhere else!” She shouted thankful that nobody could hear her, “You're going to blow my cover.” She finished before focusing back on Sandbar. “No, I won't,” Replied Jinai in his typical uncaring voice, “Luckily it's only you who can see and hear me.” He explained. “Lucky me.” Ocellus replied in a sarcastic tone. Sandbar was on the move again; this time he walked up to a bench and sat down. While she had perched herself on another tree limb. Jinai rested his body on a limb just above her. She stared at him while he looked around. Possibly, waiting for the pony who was going to hurt him. That was when Jinai slid his head in front of her. “How long do you plan on doing this?” He asked. By now, Ocellus, was completely annoyed by him, “Can you go haunt a house or something?!” She almost yelled. Jinai chuckle at that comment, “I would love to. But, then I would have a legal battle with actual ghosts.” He replied. “Legal battle?” Ocellus asked as she tried to look around his head. Only to have him move it in front of her every time. “Yeah, ghosts have got the best lawyers. I mean one time,” He then caught sight of something, “Oh! Peanuts!” He then vanished. “Finally!” Ocellus sighed as she caught sight of Sandbar again. But, this time he was not alone. No, beside him stood a gryphon both of them knew. “Gallus?” She asked herself as they started to walked back into the crowd. Ocellus had to keep herself air-born for a good while just to keep watching them. So far the two had played various carnival games and ate from two different stands. It was then her stomach released a growl. Which made her release a sigh of envy. Who would've though trying to protect a friend; would make a changeling so hungry. But, she couldn't think about food now. She had to make sure Sandbar was going to be okay. “Muffins! Hot and fresh muffins, here!” A pony at a food stand shouted. “Okay, that's not fair,” She sighed in envy. Muffins were her favorite. Especially, the ones that had blueberries in them. It didn't take long for the scent of them found its way into her nose. Which made her stomach growl louder, “Okay, one muffin can't hurt,” Her stomach growled again, “Maybe two.” She finished before flying back down and transforming back into her original form. Ocellus smiled happily after throwing away the wrappers. Her stomach was full of her favorite treat. And, she was starting to wonder which ride she wanted to go on. As she looked around; Jinai appeared beside her again. “Having fun yet?” He asked. “I was until you appeared.” She commented. He chuckled at her comment, “Glad to be your pain in your a.” “AHH!” A roller coaster full of ponies screamed as the ride went over its signature hill. Ocellus simply shook her head and ignored him. She then started to make her way to the Ferris wheel. Jinai followed close behind her. They walked in silence for a little while; unfortunately for her. He ended up breaking the silence. “So, how did it go?” He asked “How did what go?” She asked him as they neared the ride. “You know,” Jinai began, “That whole spying on your friend to protect him, sh.” “Its gonna be close! Who's gonna be the lucky foal to pop their balloon first!” A stallion at a nearby vendor shouted. Ocellus had come to a complete stop. She had completely forgotten why she was there in the first place. With a gasp; she flew above the crowd and started to look for the two. While Jinai watched her fly off in a panic. “Why is she so worried?” He asked himself only to shrug shortly after, “Eh, I don't give a.” “Dang, Vinyl you are good at ring toss.” Some random pony commented. Ocellus searched for the two until the carnival had closed. She panted and gasped for air as she rested on a tree. She watched as the lights started to be turned off. A single tear then started to slide down her face. She brought her knees up to her chest and sobbed into them. “I couldn't save him,” She sniffled as feelings of failure and regret started to enter her mind, “I'm so sorry, Sandbar.” She silently cried. “See ya tomorrow, Gallus.” The voice of Sandbar spoke. Ocellus head shot up and she looked around the tree. There one the path leading to the carnival was Sandbar and Gallus. Sandbar was waving goodbye to Gallus. Who was waving back him. “Yeah, see ya tomorrow.” Gallus called back before flying in the direction of the school. Ocellus released a small sob of happiness as she watched her friend Sandbar walk back home. But, she quickly pulled herself together and changed into a bird again. Following him as he walked back home. By, the time Sandbar had gotten home. Princess Celestia had already lowered the sun and her sister had raised the moon. As he walked into his home. Ocellus had landed and transformed back into her normal form. The entire day she had spent worrying about her friend. And, nothing happened to him. She released a yell of anger and frustration. “What's got your exoskeleton in a twist?” Jinai asked from behind her. Ocellus turned around and saw him floating in mid-air. He was lying on his back looking up at the stars, “They were wrong!” She hissed. “What was wrong?” Jinai asked. “The cards!” She screamed at him, “The stupid cards were wrong! They told me my friend was going to be hurt! But, no, he had a very good time at the carnival. With our friend, Gallus! And, nothing bad happened to him at all!” She finished while panting for breath. It was then that she heard him laughing, “The cards are never wrong.” He replied. She glared at him, “Well, they are this time!” She hissed. “Oh, are they.” He said before casting his gaze towards the home. It was then a loud shattering sound was heard. Followed by the sound of a mare and a stallion yelling. Ocellus quickly turned herself around; just in time to see Sandbar come running out of his home. With a stallion- possibly his father- running out close behind him. “Don't come back you freak!” He shouted, “Don't come back!” He shouted again before walking back inside. Only to close the door with a slam. Ocellus gasped in horror as she ran to catch up with her friend. She saw that he was running in the direction of the school. Eventually, he stopped running and he had collapsed to the ground. Ocellus, watched from the bushes. She saw him lying on the ground; he was crying. Just like she had seen in her vision. The cards had given her a warning. And, once again she had failed to prevent it from happening. Just as she was about to call to him a familiar voice called. “Sandbar!” The voice of Gallus called. Ocellus changed into a gecko and hid inside the bush. While Gallus landed and walked up to Sandbar. She couldn't hear what they were saying. She then jumped out of the bush and crawled as fast as she could towards them. She hid in the leaves of a bush that was closer to them. But, whatever had been said had already been said. For, Sandbar was now hugging Gallus. Who was doing his best to comfort the poor colt. Who now had a swollen black eye. “I'm sorry, Sandbar,” Ocellus cracked voice as a tear fell from her eye, “I'm so sorry.” She finished while sighing in defeat. But, what happened next almost stopped her heart. Gallus had brought one of his talons up to Sandbars chin. He then tilted his head upward; making him look him in the eye. They stared at each other for a few seconds and then. Gallus kissed him. Ocellus felt her jaw drop as she looked on in shock. Sandbar closed his eyes and returned the kiss. They held the kiss for a few seconds; before the broke the kiss. “I love you.” Sandbar said. Gallus smiled happily, “I love you, too.” He replied as Sandbar pulled him a little closer. “Please,” Sandbar begged, “Don't leave me.” He finished. “I won't.” Replied Gallus. Ocellus quickly crawled out of the bush and made her way to her room. Transforming, back into her original form once she was far enough away. She entered her room and walked up to her desk; staring down at the cards in front of her. She couldn't believe it. The cards were right again. But, what surprised her was what they were trying to tell her. And, she had missed the warning by a mile. “So, its you zero and the cards two.” Jinai said as he appeared behind her, “Man even a fate in training could have had that one figured out.” He finished. Ocellus turned to glare at him, “You knew! Didn't you!?” She asked him in anger. “Yep.” He answered. “Then why didn't you tell me I was wrong!” She yelled at him. “One, I can't. I'm not allowed,” He then chuckled, “Two, although I could have given you a hint. I like watching you get worked up.” He finished with a sick laugh. Ocellus growled in anger as she turned around to her desk. Watching, as the cards flew back into the deck. She sat at her desk with a sigh. What could she do? She couldn't understand what the cards were telling her. All she could do was guess. And, she had guessed wrong twice. “There's gotta be a way.” She said to herself. “There is,” Jinai suddenly said which caused her to sit up and look at him, “I can give you eyes of fate.” He said. “What?” Ocellus asked in confusion. Jinai walked up and pulled one card from the deck, “You see this card?” He asked. She looked at the card; the image was a stallion having trouble pulling a large boulder. Above him floated strange looking staffs of fire, “Ten of Wands?” She read. “This card symbolizes the weight of ones on ambitions and responsibility's,” Jinai chuckled, “But, thanks to my vision; I can see what the card truly means. It means that you are stressed because there's so much expected of you. Yet, you wanna do your own things in life.” He finished. “You are telling me this now,” Ocellus sighed in anger, “I could have used that yesterday and today!” She hissed. “I can give it to you,” It was then he smiled wickedly, “But, you have to give me something in return.” He finished. “What?” Ocellus asked. “Your fate.” Jinai answered. Author's Note Chapter 2, YAY! I really enjoyed typing this one. And, I hope all of you on this site are liking my fic. I see I have one like already. Yeah! I got a LIKE. so, thank you whoever liked my story. I will try to get chapter 3 typed as soon as possible. //-------------------------------------------------------// Legomena, what is said //-------------------------------------------------------// Legomena, what is said “My fate?” Ocellus asked. Jinai nodded, “Yes, your fate,” He replied as he disappeared and reappeared above the deck, “Let me demonstrate.” He finished as he looked down towards the deck. Ocellus watched as the deck floated up towards him. “Reveal to me, Deiknumena, Dromena, Legomena.” She heard him say; watching as the three cards of her fate floated in front of him. He laughed at what he saw. It was silent in the room for a few seconds. Until, Ocellus finally found her voice. “Hey,” She began as she was struck with a sudden realization, “I though you said I was the owner of the deck. So, how are you using it?” She asked him. “Yes, you are the owner of the deck,” Jinai confirmed his eyes staying glued to the cars in front of him, “But, since I am the former owner. I can only see the owner of the decks fate,” He explained finally turning his attention to her, “And, if you want I can give you the eyes of fate. The only thing I want in return is your fate.” He finished with a chuckle. Ocellus grew confused, “What would you want with my fate?” She asked. Jinai looked back at the cards; only to lift his hoof and pointed it at the first two, “Really, these two I'm not really interested in,” His attention then focused on the last one, “It's this one I'm actually interested in.” He finished. “Why only that one?” She asked. “You see,” Jinai began to explain, “These two cards represent past and present,” He said while motioning towards the first two cards. He then fixed his gaze on the last card, “But, this card represents the future. Your future to be exact.” He finished. “My future?” Ocellus said in confusion before her eyes widened in realization, “You want my future!?” She almost yelled. Jinai chuckled wickedly, “Yes, I can give you the eyes of fate. Only, if you will give me your future.” He replied while giving her a sinister smile. Ocellus had to think about it for a little while. The eyes of fate would help her read the cards much better. But, she had a feeling there was something he was not telling her. Something that was possibly very important for her to know. She then shot him a glare. “So, why would you want my fate?” She asked him. “Lets just say; even fates hate what they have.” He responded with a chuckle. To say she was confused would be a complete understatement. But, what he just said, she finally noticed something. Why would fates hate what they have? She thought about it for a while; until a idea popped into her head. She faced her desk and took out a piece of paper. Jinai watched as she called for the three cards. He really didn't care about what she was doing. All he cared about was her Legomena. Eventually she faced him again; only this time she had a serious look on her face. She then motioned for him to step closer to her. When he was close enough; he saw the three cards that lay in front of her. All of the cards were cup cards. The first was the five of cups. While as for the middle card it showed a mare with her back turned; walking inside what looked to be a caved with a river. Behind her were a set of cups neatly placed on a rock. The cards name was the eight of cups. He then looked at the last card. It was the image of the inside of some families home. It showed a stallion and a mare, cuddling happily together. Along with a small filly in between them. The mare was also hold a small foal in her arms. Next to them stood a pair of older ponies; possibly the grandparents. All around them flowers hung amongst the rafters. On the floor around all of them though were cups. The card was the ten of cups. Jinai looked at her, “So,” He spoke as a smirk stretched across his face, “You figured it out.” He said with a chuckle. Ocellus wanted to punch him but she restrained, “It was thanks to that little hint you gave me,” She responded before looking back towards the cards, “As you said even fates' hate what they have. So, they are willing to switch their fates with anybody who takes the deal,” She continued as he stared at her, “So I decided to try something and it worked.” She finished as she looked towards the cards. Jinai then appeared directly above her; he looked down at the cards with her, “So, who does this fate belong too?” He asked. Ocellus responded, “My teacher,” She sighed a little in sadness, “Miss Pinkie Pie.” She finished. “But, do you know what they mean?” Jinai asked. Ocellus knew he would asked that. Obviously the answer was no; there were two new cards she never saw. But, there was one familiar one. She looked at the five of cups and studied it carefully; hoping the image on the card itself would tell her. The mare was in front of a destroyed home; behind the home was a forest burnt to the ground. Her hooves were held out; almost like she was begging for help. While the tears on the mares face ran down like endless rivers. “This card. It's a good example of sadness,” She though to herself as she continued to study the image, “But, that is way to obvious. There's no way that card just represents sadness. Maybe, it means more than one. But, what is it?” She continued to say in her mind. She turned back to the desk so she could lay her head down. She thought hard about the card; remembering she had only pulled the card the other night. The card was meant for Sandbar; so what happened to happened to him? What did the card say was gonna happen? Here eye's then went wide as she was suddenly hit with a huge realization. His parents had kicked him out and his father had called him a freak. Possibly, because he had told them he was in love with Gallus. That would be a good example not only of sadness. But, emotional loss. “Sadness and emotional loss!” She suddenly shouted as she turned to Jinai; who was reclining in the air again. “Say again.” He responded. “The five of cups,” She said the name of the first card, “It represents sadness and emotional loss.” She finished. Neither one of them made a sound. Jinai just stared right at her; while she waited for a response from him. Hoping that she was right. Her answer his sick smile; which flashed his fangs. It sent a chill down her spine. “You got most of it right.” He replied. “Most of it?” Ocellus replied in a shocked tone; surprised that she was close. But, also upset that she hadn't got it right yet. Jinai then appeared on her bed, “You're correct that card does represent sadness and emotional loss,” He spoke before holding up his hoof, “But, there is one more emotion it represents,” He chuckled again as he watched a look of worry appear on his face, “I'm feeling a little generous right now. So, I'll tell you all three.” He finished. Ocellus smiled happily after he said that; only to back away in fear as he suddenly appeared in front of her. His face inches away from hers. She ended up falling out of her chair and onto the floor. She then started to crawl away from him. She only stopped when her back had hit the wall. She watched as the three cards floated off her desk and in between them. “Deiknumena, five of cups, emotional loss, sadness, suffering,” He revealed before looking at the middle card, “Dromena, eight of cups, emotional progress, a spiritual voyage,” He then moved to the last card, “Legomena, ten of cups, happiness and harmony with those you love.” He finally finished as the cards flew back to the deck. Ocellus had a smile on her face and tears falling from her eyes. Her teacher was going to be okay. Miss, Pinkie pie was going to get better. Jinai then crouched down in front of her; making her shake in fear as he got closer to her. So, close, his maw was next to her ear. She had to turn her head away. Just so that she was not looking at him. “Next time you want to know what the cards mean,” He said while he slowly breathed out. Making her tremble a little as his warm breath moved down her neck, “You're going to have to take the deal,” He continued but then another sickening smile stretched across his face, “Or, you can give me something else.” He said. Ocellus slowly turned her head back, “What?” She asked. That would be a question she would regret asking. For, he moved his maw closer to her ear and whispered something. Something, that made her eyes go wide in horror. She then looked down and saw his tail slowly rubbing against one of her legs. Slowly, getting closer to where her legs met her body. She screamed and threw one of her hooves forward. Only to miss him for he had teleported somewhere else. She breathed heavily as she looked around for him. Before slowly curling up onto the floor. His words still sounding off in her head. “Letting me mount that changeling a.” She screamed again before leaving her room and running for the gym. Hoping, Coach Rainbow had forgotten to lock the doors again. She was in desperate need of a very hot shower. Author's Note Here is chapter 3, sorry for the delay. something things came up in the real world. //-------------------------------------------------------// The Fool, Six of Sword, King of Cups & Ten of Sword, Eight of Cups, Death //-------------------------------------------------------// The Fool, Six of Sword, King of Cups & Ten of Sword, Eight of Cups, Death Ocellus sighed heavily as she exited Principal Twilight's office. She hated the fact that she had to lie to her; but, she couldn't exactly tell the truth. She could say, “Well, Principal Twilight, on our last school trip. I found a box that had been buried for centuries; and inside of it was a deck of cards. Not, only were they in very good condition. They have the ability to show me somepony's fate and future. Also, I have a demon changeling constantly annoying me. Who used to be the owner of the deck. So, yes, that is why I was in the hospital that day. I sorta knew what was going to happen to Miss Pinkie. But, I was too dumb to understand the card. That's not crazy is it?” She shook her head as she groaned in annoyance. She swore she could feel the straight-jacket on her body. And, the padded floor of a solitary confinement chamber under her hooves. So, instead of risking time in the nut-house. She lied and told her principal that she was worried for her teacher. Turned into a fly and hitched a ride on Coach Dash. And, stayed until she heard the terrible news. Although her Principal would've done the same thing. She still earned herself a weekend detention. Meaning, she would have to come in on Saturday. “Hey, kid.” Jinai greeted as she suddenly appeared in front of her. Causing her to let out a scream; as he laughed wickedly. “Not, Funny!” She growled as she continued walking towards the town of Ponyville. Jinai floated above her, “Going after another one today?” He asked her. “Yes,” Ocellus responded making sure nopony had heard her reply to him, “Now leave me alone!” She finished as she began to walk faster. Jinai managed to keep pace with her, “Who is it this time? Friend of yours?” He asked knowing full well that he was annoying her. “None of your business!” She responded through gritted teeth as she turned down another street. Still hoping nopony had heard her answer him, “Now go somewhere else!” It was then he appeared in front of her again. Making her fall backwards onto her flank as she bumped into him. She heard him laugh at the hard time he gave her. She looked up at him with a glare; as he simply stared back down at her with that wicked smile of his. She got up and dusted herself off; before she walked around him. Trying her best to ignore the annoying thorn in her side. “I know it's Silverstream.” He said in a rather blunt and uncaring tone. Ocellus had stopped walking and stood still for a few minutes. She then sighed heavily and turned back towards him. While he turned to face her; he knew he was annoying the living Tartarus out of her. And, he was enjoying ever single second of it. She then continued walking to her destination. While he floated just above her. “So, what did she get today?” He asked. Ocellus sighed as she turned down yet another street, “The fool, six of swords, and King of cups.” She answered only to hear him chuckle in response. She was heading to Sugar-cube corner; she knew all her friends would be there. After all; they would always go there after school to hang with each other. So, it was the the perfect place to start her search for her friend. She just knew she would be there. After all it was Silverstream; she was still trying all the many different flavors of cupcakes and cakes. She laughed as she remembered the first time she visited the place. How she tried to eat so many cupcakes in one go. She was surprised that Silverstream was able to make it to the bathroom. Before, the entire contents of her stomach had ejected from her throat. She giggled a little as the building came into view. She heard the bell above the door ring as she entered the building. She looked around and eventually four her friends. Except for the one she was looking for. She sighed heavily figuring it wasn't going to be that easy. She quickly made her way to the table they were all sitting at. Smolder was the first one to greet her. “Hey, Ocellus,” Smolder greeted while motioning to an empty seat, “Have a seat.” She offered. Although she would love nothing more to enjoy a sweet treat with her friends. She had to find Silverstream. She then shook her head, “I would loved to. But, I need to talk to Silverstream; have any of you seen her?” She asked them. It was Yona who answered, “Yak, saw Silverstream heading to Professor Applejacks orchard,” She answered, “Think she went to get apples. Apples from there best!” She finished with a yell. Ocellus nodded and head for the exit. Just as she was about to push the door open; she heard Gallus say, “Seriously, Smolder are you okay?” He asked just as she exited the building aned head for the orchard. It didn't take her long to reach the orchard. Once there she had changed her form into that of a small rabbit. She hopped through the surrounding fence and started searching for her friend. As she hopped through the orchard; her mind kept going back to her friends fate. The Fool, Six of swords, King of cups? Originally, she though the cards were just being mean. Sure, her friend was excited by.....well everything. But, was she really a fool? The other two cards she wasn't sure of their description of her fate. She did eventually find her; she was watching their Professor bucking a apple tree. Just like the one in the classroom. She saw Silverstream nod and walked over to a tree. She turned around and kicked her back legs as hard as she could. A vibration wen through the tree and up to its leaves. A few seconds later many apples fell from the trees branches. “Nice job, Silverstream,” Applejack spoke in a voice filled with happiness. While Silverstream gave a squeal of excitement, “Yer, a regular natural girl.” She complimented as Silverstream walked back towards her. Ocellus sighed in relief as she started to leave the orchard. She figured that her fate had already come and gone. Plus, earlier she noticed that Jinai didn't laugh his usual laugh. Meaning that the fate was as dangerous as she though. But, she felt better knowing that she had checked on her friend. Once outside the fence; she changed back into her original form and flew off towards the school. She sighed heavily as she rested on her bed. Allowing not only her body to rest; but, also her mind. That was until she heard the familiar chuckle of Jinai. Which caused her to groan loudly in annoyance; as she slowly opened her eyes. Only to see his ugly face just inches from hers. “Hey.” He greeted with a large smile. Ocellus screamed as she shot up from the bed and fell to the floor. While he laughed loudly at the misery he had caused her. She looked up at him with a look of anger; while he stared back down at her with a smirk. She got to her hooves and dusted herself off. “Jerk.” She said to him. “I try,” He replied with a chuckle, “So you figure out her fate?” He asked no really caring if she did or not. She sighed and walked up to her desk; turning on the light. She sat in her chair and looked at the deck of cards, “No, I didn't,” She answered rather bluntly, “But, I remembered how you laughed earlier. So, I figured it wasn't as bad.” She finished only to hear him laugh at her again. To say he was starting to annoy her would be an understatement. After all; he wasn't going to help her for free again. It was either she give him her fate or give him her. She shuddered not wanting to ever finish or think that though ever again. With a sigh she looked at the deck again; wondering who she should try now. She though for a few minutes; until she had remembered something from earlier. She remembered Gallus had asked if something was wrong with Smolder. She looked at the deck, “Reveal to me, Deiknumena, Dromena, Legomena,” She spoke as the deck shuffled itself and the three cards flew out. She watched as they went into the piece of paper she had at the ready. Folding it and listening for the voice of Smolder. She didn't need to wait for long, “I miss him so much.”. The voice sounded like she was on the verge of tears; which shocked her. Smolder, crying? Was that even possible or imaginable? She shook her head and unfolded the piece of paper. There was one new card she had never seen. And, two cards she had seen before; except one of the familiar cards was upside down. The other she had hoped to never see again. Underneath Deiknumena was a card with the image of a ghostly stallion; rising from a corpse that had been stabbed by ten swords. All around the corpse was a battlefield littered with various bodies. It almost made her want to puke. The cards name was the the Ten of swords. Underneath Dromena was the Eight of cups; except it was upside down. And, underneath Legomena was a card she prayed she would never see again. It was Number thirteen, Death. “I gotta find Smolder!” Ocellus shouted as she got up and ran out of her room. While Jinai looked at the fate she saw. He chuckled, “You're never gonna save her!” He yelled out. Ocellus had ran from her room to Smolders. Knocking on the door rapidly; hoping her friend would open the door soon. She never did. Panic entered her mind and she changed into a mouse. Allowing her to crawl underneath her door; Smolders room was gray in color. Possibly to remind her of home. But, there was only one problem with her room. Smolder was not there! She immediately left the room and went to find Gallus. It didn't take her long to finally find Smolder. She was at the lake where they would all sometimes meet. Smolder was sitting next to the waters edge looking out at the waters edge. She seemed focused on something; because she never noticed her sit next to her. Slowly she reached her hoof out to Smolders shoulder. Her dragon friend jumped at the contact. “Oh, sup Ocellus.” Smolder greeted in her usual tomboyish voice. “Hey, Smolder,” Ocellus greeted back with a hint of nervousness in her voice, “Um, Smolder?” She asked. “Yeah?” Smolder replied. “Is something bothering you?” She asked. Smolder rolled her eyes and gave Ocellus an unamused look, “Did Gallus send you here? Because if he did; tell him I'm fine.” She finished Ocellus shook her head, “No, he didn't send me here,” She lied trying to keep from sounding nervous, “I.....sensed that you were sad.” She finished try to keep from breaking out in a cold sweat. “Well you “Sensed” wrong,” Smolder replied before turning back to look at the lake, “Now leave me alone!” She finished with a small growl. Ocellus couldn't do that; not after what the cards had shown her. She wasn't about to let these cards come true; even though she had no idea what they were showing her. She continued to sit down next to Smolder. It earned a growl from Smolder; who turned to look at her. “I said!” “I know what you said and I don't care!” Ocellus shouted surprising not only Smolder; but herself also, “I know something is wrong with you! So either you tell me or I'm sticking to you like glue!” She finished knowing she was either gonna pass out or get knocked out. Smolder stared at her for a few seconds only to growl out in anger. She glared at her friend in anger; only for her anger to be replaced with a look of softness. A sad sigh escaped her maw; before her vision was fixed out over the lake again. “Please, Ocellus,” Smolder begged. Which completely surprised Ocellus; what surprised her even more was the fact that it happened. Did she just witness history?, “Just let me be alone.” She finished. Ocellus shook her head before she placed her hoof on her friends shoulder again, “Smolder, please,” She spoke as her friend looked towards her, “Tell me what's wrong.” She finished. Smolder sighed again before looking down at the sand, “Do you have any brothers or sisters, Ocellus?” She asked. “Many, why?” Ocellus answered. “I,” She paused for a second, “Had a little brother once.” She finished. Ocellus nodded, “Yes, you told me how he underwent the molt. And, then struck out on his own.” She replied. Smolder released a sad laugh, “I lied,” She replied, “My brother was eaten by a roc.” She finished. Ocellus gasped in horror, “Smolder, I'm sorry,” She apologized, “I didn't mean to.” She was silenced by Smolder pressing one of her claws against her maw. Quickly silencing her. “I was supposed to watch him,” Smolder said as she started to tell what happened, “I didn't want him stinking up my part of the cave. So, I took him to a place that was wide open, far away from the cave, and far away from my nose,” A tear then escaped her eye. As the memory played in front of her, “ But, I never knew that a roc was nesting nearby.” She finished as she relived the most moment in her life. How she flew as fast as she could to her brothers location. Hearing him screaming and crying out for help. Feeling the wind stinging her face; as she flew faster and faster. She watched as his tiny body came into view. The look of horror on his face; his claws stretched out towards her. While he screamed her name. Then in that instant; she watched as the roc's beak closed down on him. “Swallowed him whole,” She sniffled, “That stupid bird ate my brother alive. And, it was all my fault,” She sobbed as she tried her best to wipe the tears from her eyes, “My mother she disowned me and my father,” She sobbed again, “When he finally wakes up and sees his only son is gone. He'll.....he'll.” She finally gave up the battle and broke down. Ocellus didn't know what to do; all she could do was just one thing. She gently hugged her friend and pulled her close to her. Smolder returned the hug with a hug of her own. Smolder sobbed into her shoulder. While Ocellus gently rubbed her back, “I miss him so much.” She heard her sob. “I know,” Ocellus replied as she hugged her friend tighter, “Smolder, I'm so sorry.” She apologized; regretting making her friend feel so much emotional pain. But, she was also hoping she had changed her friends fate. After a few minutes of hugging and crying; the two eventually separated and headed back for the school. When Ocellus reached her room. All she could do was head right for her bed. She even managed to ignore Jinai's annoying voice. But, she felt like she had forgotten something. Something very important. But, for right now sleep was more important. When morning came she awoke with a yawn. Stretching her tired limbs out as she got out of her bed. “So, how did it go?” Jinai's voice asked. Ocellus sighed heavily as she brought a hoof up to her face, “How did what go?” She asked in an annoyed tone. “That thing where you tried to change your friends fate.” He asked. Ocellus gasped as she ran to her desk and looked at the card. She swore she felt her heart stop at what she saw. All three cards had changed; but one of the cards had been swapped with another. While the other two had switched places. Underneath Deiknumena was the eight of cups. But, it was right side up. At the end underneath Legomena was the five of cups. But, Dromena, underneath it was the death card. Her blood ran cold and she ran as fast as she could to Smolders room. As she rounded a corner she collided with said dragoness. “Smolder!” She shouted in both happiness and surprise, “You're!” She was interrupted by her friend as she was suddenly pulled into a hug. She was shocked at first; until she heard her friend sobbing quietly. She gently hugged her friend back; finally finding her voice, “Smolder what happened?” She asked. “Bahamut called her mother home last night.” The voice of the dragon-lord herself answered. Ocellus looked up and saw Ember looking down at the two. It took Ocellus a minute to process the information; until she came to a horrible realization. Smolders mother had passed away. She held her friend a little tighter. Allowing her to pour all the emotions she was feeling out; all over her comforting shoulder. Slowly, she looked up again. She was tempted to give off a glare; for, Jinai was standing behind the dragon-lord. His smile stretched a little wider than normal. It was then she heard his twisted voice. “Nice job kid,” He congratulated her with a chuckle, “You changed her fate.” He finished. Author's Note Here is another chapter!
