Trixie, or as she self titled herself The Great and Powerful Trixie was wandering the streets of some city, she travelled a lot and never really made it a point to remember their names, every city was the same at the end of the day. Though this was not what occupied her thoughts.
It had been three weeks since she was ousted from Ponyville, three long weeks. The humiliation was still fresh in her mind, her getting beaten by that bookworm. Even thinking about her made Trixie's blood boil and grind her teeth together.
"Her? Beat me?" she huffed under her breath "As if she could beat anything other than a science book" Trixie rolled her eyes and sighed as she made her way inside a magic emporium. She routinely visited places like this for things to spice up her acts, this visit was no different.
She pushed the door open, ringing a bell and waking up the bedraggled looking stallion at the counter "I uh ah hello ma'am, there anything I can help you with?" he asked, standing up straight trying to pretend he was always awake. He spoke with this thick cliche Manehatten accent that made Trixie cringe a little.
"No, Trixie will browse, I shall ask if I have need of you" she said, not even giving him eye contact as she walked about the store, looking over the various shelves at the curiosities the store held. Nothing here impressed her however, it was all old news been there done that, until she passed the last display.
It got her attention, it was just in the corner of her eye when she saw it, but now she was interested. Walking over to the display Trixie got a better look at just what she was seeing "Voodoo dolls eh?" she said to nobody in particular. The display was an arrangement of several example dolls, as well as a few accessories like clothes and things. Trixie chuckled at the thought of a voodoo doll being just a foals play thing, playing dress up with it and the like. But then she had an idea, an idea she kicked herself for not thinking of sooner.
"Excuse me" Trixie yelled towards the counter, even though the shop wasn't that large. The stallion arched his head over, peeking down the aisle she was in. "Can these be custom made?" she asked, pointing a hoof at the small display.
"Uh, sure sure...we don't really get many ordering ones made" he said, gesturing over with a hoof. Trixie took that as her cue and walked over to the counter, stopping opposite the stallion.
"You say you can get them custom made?" Trixie asked, feeling a little giddy already
"Of course, we just need to take some details and uh-" he said, fishing out a clipboard and pen "-we'll also need a piece of the pony you want it made of...hair is usually easiest" he explained, lowering his voice slightly despite knowing they were alone.
Trixie gulped and started filling out the form, these were all fairly easy questions, nothing that pried too deep. "A piece you say?" she asks, a bead of sweat running down her forehead. She wasn't worried about finding such a piece though.
"Yes, like I said hair is easiest as it's not as messy. Plus the guys who make them say hair is easier to work with" he explained casually, in a tone one would use when talking about the weather, or how the flowers were blooming.
"Oh uh, how convenient" Trixie chuckled, opening up her saddlepack and retrieving a small piece of wrapped parchment from one of the inside pockets. Quickly she unwrapped it, revealing several small tufts of hair, all in shades of dark purple and pink, all carefully arranged with dates pencilled in beside them. "I happen to have a few um...samples"
Without hesitating she levitated one of her samples out, making sure it was one of the duplicates and she slammed it down on the table "There, now tell me how many bits Trixie needs to cough up!" she demanded, stomping a hoof.
"Uh 100 bits?" he said, almost sounding unsure as he cowered behind the desk.
"100 bits it is...when should Trixie expect delivery?" The magician asked, carefully putting her collection away and pulling out a small purse of coins.
"A week or two, at most ma'am"
"A week or two then" she said, hiding a sigh.
A week or two later
Trixie lay in her trailer, her makeshift mobile home stuffed to the brim with everything to make it so, as well as every little thing she needed to set up her shows. She rolled her eyes at the thought. She'd been getting a smaller audience every day, soon she might have to hang up the cape and hat just to stay afloat. But until that happened she had revenge, sweet sweet revenge, that was taking a lot longer to get here than she thought.
Suddenly she heard a knock on the door, rushing to her feet she swung the door panel open to be greeted by a tired looking earth pony in a mail uniform. "Trixie Lulamoon?" he asked, looking down at the package he was holding.
"Yes, tis I, The Great and Powerful Trixie" She said, standing tall and raising her hoof for dramatic effect.
"Uh huh, can you sign here please?" he held out a clipboard and pen. Trixie quickly reeled in her ego and signed the paper. "Enjoy" he said, setting the box down before heading in any other direction but here.
Suppressing the urge to break out in a fit of laughter Trixie quickly grabbed up the package and ran inside with it. Setting it down in the middle of her floor she tore into the cardboard using her hooves, tossing the bubblewrap aside and reaching in, picking up and holding her prize high.
It would be beautiful, if it wasn't made in the image of her mortal enemy. Though Trixie admitted the craftsmanship was impressive, looking it over she noted how detailed it was and with a blush forming on her cheeks she also noted it was anatomically correct.
"Oh you little thing, you and Trixie will have quite the relationship" she set it down again and dug around in the box, retrieving the manual. After a short read she quickly discovered that, to her disappointment she couldn't actively harm Twilight with this, so she couldn't permanently remove her nemesis, not that she wanted to of course, that would be evil. She did enjoy the thought of being incredibly annoying, Trixie felt like she could live with this.
"Trixie would so enjoy getting started with revenge, but right now she feels tired" she looked over to her bed "Sleep first, revenge later" she dragged herself over, still carrying the Twilight doll, before climbing into bed. She hugged the doll tightly...it was very cuddly indeed, Trixie wondered for a moment why she hadn't gotten a plushie of something earlier, it doesn't matter now though.
Meanwhile
Twilight Sparkle was in the library, her home and her hobby, reading one of the many books available to her, when she suddenly felt a warm squeezing sensation all over her.
"Ah, what the?" She gasped in surprise. It wasn't unpleasant, but it certainly felt weird and worst of all, it didn't seem to be going away. "Oh great, what's happening now?" The mare said outloud to nobody, she was home alone. Spike was out helping Rarity and he'd probably be there for another few hours. "Okay, I can deal with this" Twilight said, taking in a deep breath "I hope..."
At the very least lukewarm.
Trixie yawned and sat up in her bed, wiping sleep from her eyes. She was never a good morning pony, but something about her felt oddly pleasant. The mare then looked down, the Twilight doll was still firmly wrapped in her hooves.
"Oh but of course, how could Trixie have forgotten" She said, almost cackling to herself as she hugged the toy hard enough it let out a 'squee' sound. "Now, enough games" she levitated the doll away, setting it down on a side table "This is the time for revenge"
About ten minutes later
Trixie was proud of herself "The perfect disguise" she kept muttering to herself as she posed in front of her mirror, something the mare did all too often. Her 'perfect disguise' was simple, a wide brimmed yellow hat, with a matching cloak to conceal her cutie mark, a pair of tinted glasses completed the ensemble.
"There's no way those Ponyville simpletons will recognise me, despite how impressive Trixie is..." Trixie said, standing tall and pondering whether she should've put the disguise on after she pulled her trailer to Ponyville and not before, though she simply shrugged, a little use would aid in the effect after all.
After a trip that took her longer than she'd hoped for, Trixie could see Ponyville on the horizon. "Good, soon Twilight Sparkle will rue the day she wronged The Great and Powerful Trixie!" she yelled, standing tall on her back hooves for dramatic effect. "Trixie will have her revenge" she yelled again, slamming her hooves back down into the ground...and into something foul.
"Ugh ew, stupid countryside" she recoiled, rubbing her filth covered hooves in dry dirt "Stupid countryside and stupid Twilight...Twiglight...Ha! Twiglight Spraggle!" The unicorn mare babbled on, becoming more incoherent as she went, all the while her right eye twitching.
Trixie soon found a place to hide her trailer, just off the side of the road leading into Ponyville, she'd hastily moved a few branches to make it more inconspicuous, but it's not like anyone would be out here anyway. Inside she sat at her table, head buried in well washed hooves. "Trixie never thought thinking up a revenge plan would be this hard." she groaned in frustration, looking up at the Twi doll...it's empty stare held no answers.
"This is dumb, revenge should be easy, Trixie already has this stupid doll" she waved her hooves at the thing, hoping it would do something, anything. "All it does is remind me of Twiglight and it makes Trixie angry and-urgh" The unicorn slammed her head against the table, this seemed to calm her down a little, enough to come up with a very crude plan. She gathered up her saddlepack. Storing the doll in one side, in the other she filled it with all sorts, brushes, feathers, as well as a few left over arcane trinkets that she couldn't find a use for.
Now she was ready, she had a plan, a disguise and all the tools she could ever want, all that was needed was to carry it out. "Bah, as if Trixie could fail, this revenge plan is so easy she can do it in her sleep" The mare said, throwing the door to her trailer open with renewed confidence. "Oh, this shall be so so sweet" she grinned maniacally, jumping down from her trailer, into another pile of filth "Oh come on!"
One long shower later
Trixie had finally started heading towards Ponyville, the town of her folly, where her nemesis lived, where she'd get her revenge. As she walked she kept her eyes glued on the path ahead of her, she certainly didn't want a repeat of last time, especially when she was trying to be incognito.
Passing into the town limits she adjusted her hat, it wasn't as magnificent as her usual head wear, but it worked for what it was intended, to hide her appearance. It certainly seemed to be working, nopony was paying her any attention as she walked through the crowds, it felt although she were invisible. Giving her area a quick survey Trixie noticed something that made her fur stand on end "Oh no" she muttered to herself, ducking behind cover and receiving a few worried looks from passerby's. She peeked out from her cover to look at the rainbow maned pegasus, that was currently hovering alongside an ivory coated unicorn, they were both chatted and hadn't noticed Trixie in the slightest.
"Hmph, Trixie forgot Twiglight had friends" she kicked herself for forgetting something so important and made a note to keep an eye out for them. A regular pony might not recognise her, but these were Twilight's closest friends, they'd certainly know her. Trixie quickly felt all the stares and straightened her stance, casually starting in the opposite direction, until.
"Hey girls-" came a voice from behind her, a voice she heard in her dreams, reminding her how she lost, a voice that made Trixie's blood boil and her jaw tighten, a voice that made it hard not to yell out a cliche one-liner in an attempt to challenge it again. The voice of Twilight Sparkle, turning her head Trixie saw the purple unicorn join her other two friends. Carefully she skulked her way into earshot, pretending to look through a flower stall.
"Hey Twi, how's it going?" The cyan pegasus said, it wasn't hard hearing what she had to say.
Yes, do tell darling you look a little...hm..." The other unicorn asked, her tone one of concern.
"Oh it's nothing, just something weird last night kept me up" Said Twilight, obviously trying to brush it off. Trixie chuckled internally, at least Twilight is having trouble sleeping, she is obviously terrified of Trixie's eventual revenge.
"You aren't reading those horror novels are you?" Rainbow chuckled, alighting on the ground.
Twilight shook her head "No I finished those weeks ago...this...I don't know, I was probably up too late and my mind was just playing tricks on me" she shrugged a little, though the mare certainly looked tired.
"Well in any case you look like you could use a pick-me-up, tea? I'm paying" Rarity fluttered her eyelashes at the bookworm.
"It can't hurt" The purple mare caved, too tired to argue "Lead the way" the three headed off in the direction of what Trixie assumed was the cafe...she also felt an opportunity arriving. Quietly and as casually as possible she followed the three, she was too far to hear what they were saying, so she had no gauge of what their plans were and if Trixie was the topic of discussion. At some point on the way the rainbow maned one split off, flying up into the sky and out of sight. Trixie simply assumed she had some clouds to bed or something, she cared little about Twilight's friends, just the mare herself.
"Here we go" Rarity said proudly "The best seats in the house" she sat herself down at a table with a very good view of ponyvilles many hills and fields, Twilight sat opposite to her.
"It is a good view" she said, yawning "You know you don't have to do this, I'm fine...really" Twilight insisted.
"Oh hush darling, you'll feel better after some tea"
Trixie found a seat near the back and out of the way, it didn't have as good a view as Twilight's did, but Trixie had the perfect view of her quarry and hopefully plenty of privacy. She glanced around making sure no eyes were looking her way, before carefully pulling the doll out and setting it on the table. Looking around again she was happy to see she had noponies attention she carried on, this time pulling out a feather. The grin she had almost looked painful...
Meanwhile, about 25ft away
Twilight massaged her temples as she sipped her tea, she'd barely got any sleep after what happened last night and to be honest it still creeped her out a little.
"Twilight, darling, you look troubled, something the matter?" Rarity asked, taking a short sip of her tea
"It's nothing, really, I'm just tired and I-" She gasped, an alien sensation surged through her back hooves, it made her spine crawl and fur stand on end.
"Oh my, Twilight are you alright?" Her friend asked, resting a hoof on Twilight's arm.
"I...ah, uh yeah...I'm fine it's nothing" Twilight bit her lip, the urge to laugh was becoming painful at best.
"You certainly don't look alright" Rarity scoffed, looking her over.
Trixie fought the urge to laugh, this was simply far too amusing, seeing her arch nemesis squirm in her seat like that, she looked like she needed that bathroom or something. Trixie moved the feather up to Twilight's right forehoof, she was delighted to see her respond instantly, slamming that hoof down on the table, knocking over her tea and getting a lot of confused looks from other customers.
"I...I'm s-sorry" Twilight stammered, still trying to resist.
Trixie could already feel her revenge coming, but this was just a taster for what she had in store...
