Chapter 25: "Recruiting the Sea Terror"

"So, there he is," chuckled Grogar, starring at the unconscious Squirk after his battle on Mount Aris. "Another enemy of Equestria to join our alliance."

"And just how do you suppose to bring him here?" huffed Lavan, much to Grogar's irritation. "He's a creature of the sea. Squirk will just shrivel up and die."

Irritated, Grogar sharply turned to confront Lavan.

"I've had just about enough of your intolerance, Lavan!" he snapped, growling at him. "Not another word out of you, understand?"

"Whatever," retorted Lavan, mockingly. "My lava powers are just as strong as his water powers. I mean, who thinks that harmless black ink squirted from his nose is a powerful weapon? Hah!"

Growling quietly, Grogar turned away to refocus on the task at hand as Lavan left the throne room, leaving behind lava footprints that quickly melted the floor. However, while he was developing a sense of hostility towards Lavan, he began to sense the growing respect that was developing between him and Tirek as well as King Sombra.

"Try not to listen to him, my emperor," Tirek advised, throwing an arm around him. "I, for one, think your plan to unite our fellow enemies is a rather…great idea."

"I second the motion," laughed Sombra.

"Well, it seems like you two are the only ones who truly understand me, Tirek," Grogar sighed. "It's been lonely for the past 1,000 years. Tambeleon has suffered enough and I want nothing more than for this to be the capital of Equestria with Prince Cosmo's blessings."

"If he ever returns," remarked Tirek.

"Oh, he will return, my friends," chuckled Grogar as Tirek picked up the chaos gauntlet and put it on his left hand. "Prince Cosmos is a strong fighter, a pony who tried to rule Equestria the way he wanted to but was denied. All that we have to do is to bring a population of new citizens into Tambeleon, a population that we can force to obey all of us as their leaders. But how?"

"You know," Tirek remarked, testing his grip inside the gauntlet. "I think I might be a big help in your quest, Grogar. If you could let me obtain the Elements of Harmony, I might just provide you with the population you require."

Seeing Tirek wear the chaos gauntlet began to give Grogar an idea…an awful idea. Grogar got a wonderful…awful idea.

"I think I like your suggestion, Tirek," chuckled Grogar, admiring him wearing the chaos gauntlet. "In fact, I think you should be the one to go after the Elements of Harmony and bring them back here to me. The chaos gauntlet, after all, was meant to wield the Elements according to the will of who wears it. If you were to obtain the elements, then you could be the one to bring in the population that Tambeleon needs to be reborn. Yes, every single one of us will play their part, but you…will be playing the biggest part of all."

Tirek chuckled evilly at this and knew that Grogar was right. He would be playing the biggest part of all…bringing in the population.

"Now then, my friend," chuckled Grogar, swaying back and forth to ring his bell. "Let's bring Squirk here at once."

Ringing the bell, Grogar chanted an incantation and watching from the viewing globe, saw the knocked-out sea monster become engulfed with dark magic and disappeared from view.

"Now, follow me, Tirek and help me welcome our new comrade."

Stepping outside, Tirek and Grogar watched as a giant underwater tank rose out from underneath the ground and Squirk formed inside the tank. Opening his eyes, Squirk looked around and saw what was happening.

"What is this? Who are you?" he demanded, banging on the side of the tank with his head. "Let me out of here at once!"

"Relax my seaworthy friend," laughed Grogar. "Do you know who I am?"

"I know who you are, you are nothing but a…"

However, before he could go on a further tirade, Squirk suddenly saw Tirek and Sombra and was mesmerized by their presence.

"Tirek? King Sombra?" he gasped. "You escaped from your prison in Tartarus?"

"Yes, Squirk," laughed Tirek, walking towards the tank. "I have escaped…twice, actually. The first was by sheer luck and the second…was with a little bit of help."

"And I am the one who helped oversee his escape, Emperor Grogar. And this beautiful city around us is Tambeleon."

Squirk looked around and saw the area he was in.

"For a place called Tambeleon," remarked Squirk. "It looks very…how shall I say it? Depressing."

Then, he turned towards Sombra.

"And furthermore, how is it that you are alive, King Sombra? I thought that you were destroyed by the Crystal Princess or, so the sea life tells me."

"You know him?" gasped Grogar.

"I do. I would always execute my subjects by feeding them to him."

"And it has been a while since I have tasted pony," Squirk laughed, remembering the taste of live pony. "Perhaps you can feed some to me."

"And you will get your taste of pony when our mission is fulfilled," promised Grogar. "Now, in the meantime, why don't I help you get adjusted to your new surroundings, my seaworthy friend?"

Immediately, Squirk began to take a liking to Grogar and began to accept whatever was being offered to him.

Meanwhile, Sunset watched in shock as Celestia and Luna tried to valiantly fight against Arabus. With most of the Guardians and Doctor Strange out of commission, only they, Starswirl and Rockhoof could take on the wind creature.

"Hang on!" called Sunset, not wanting to be on the sidelines any longer, firing a blast of magic from her horn.

"Sunset, take cover now!" ordered Celestia, but Sunset wasn't listening and neither was Groot, who used his legs to grow and try to use his roots to wrestle with Arabus.

"I am Groot!" yelled Groot, trying to twist at the Wind God's face. However, Arabus wasn't buying it, but Groot wasn't giving up.

"I am growing tired of playing games!" Arabus hissed, blowing Groot right into Celestia's face, causing her to fall out of the sky, but was quickly saved by a quick-thinking Sunset, who used her magic to help land Celestia safely back onto the ground. "In fact, why should I even bother fighting you? You scare me even less than those flying equines! But, I'll leave you to prolong your suffering a little while longer!"

Without another word, Arabus quickly disappeared, much to Luna's anger.

"COME BACK HERE NOW!" she barked in her royal Canterlot voice. "COME BACK! Dammit, he's gone! Sister!"

Quickly flying down to her sister's side, Luna helped Celestia back onto her feet.

"Sister, are you all right?" asked Luna.

"Yes, thank you," panted Celestia, taking off her helmet and picking up her spear, before looking up to the sky. "Disgusting coward! He must have been trying to soften us up or something."

"He…he must be already…in cahoots with Grogar," coughed Dr. Strange, struggling to get back onto his feet. "If he hasn't been already."

"Either way, this was all just a ploy to soften us," cried Sunset.

Just then, they saw Tony, Twilight and Steve arrived on the scene.

"Everybody okay?" Tony asked and saw all of the injured guardians trying to get back onto their feet. "I guess not."

"We'll be fine," groaned Starswirl, picking his hat up off the ground as Twilight ran over to hug Celestia. "But, we'd better get back and regroup once more."

Collecting their injured comrades, the group left the field and returned to Twilight's castle to once again regroup.

Meanwhile, Arabus retreated from the battle and just then, looked down upon the kingdom of Tambeleon. As he flew down, he saw Lavan trying to walk out of the kingdom. Lavan became disgusted with what he saw in front of him, his great enemy now in the same place as his other great enemy.

"So, we meet again," said Lavan, sarcastically. "After all these years. What are you doing here?"

"Demonstrating to the Emperor himself of my destructive power," answered Arabus. "When I sensed Tambeleon had returned, I knew that if I was to create all the storms I wish on this land, I would have to join forces with Emperor Grogar. What are you doing here?"

"Recruited to cause eruptions, perhaps?"

"Heh! That's what I thought, because that's all you can ever do is cause eruptions, just like your father once did. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to find the Emperor himself."

Watching in disgust and disbelief, Lavan saw Arabus make his leave to find Grogar, who now had his team assembled, regardless of their feelings towards one another…
