"Remember, Rarity, all the things we say are just for the story. We don't mean any of it," Twilight said as she adjusted her costume and her glasses.
"Agreed, I wouldn't want you to actually get your feelings hurt over a little story!" Starlight added as she finished her hair.
"Oh, I know! Besides, I get to perform this story with my girlfriend! So, it's all worth it!" Rarity giggled as she looked at her girlfriend, who was doing final run-throughs with Rainbow Dash.
"Well, I'm glad that I got a nice role...I don't think I could handle being mean..." Fluttershy said as she hid behind her hair.
"Well, I think you can handle any role!" Discord announced as he appeared beside his girlfriend, who blushed at the compliment.
"Oh good grief, can you two go three minutes without being flirty?" Spike, Twilight's younger brother groaned as he walked by with a clipboard,"Anyway, the curtain is in two minutes!"
"I am so excited! I may only be prop crew for this one, but I get to see my Dashie wearing that hilarious Duke's outfit!" Pinkie giggled, and Rainbow sighed.
"I heard that Pinkie!" Rainbow called, causing everyone to laugh.
"Alright, guys! Places!" Spike called, and everyone nodded, Rarity and AJ giving each other loving looks as they headed to their spot.
"I look forward to our dance, m'lady," Applejack giggled as she smirked, making Rarity blush, as the curtain went up...
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young girl named Rarity. She was loved by everyone in her village, as her beauty came from the inside out. Although her mother died when she was just a baby, she had everything she could ask for: a loving father and a comfortable lifestyle. As time went on, however, Rarity grew lovelier, and her father grew lonelier.
"Rarity?" Her father, Fancypants, asked one day as he entered the den to find his fourteen-year-old daughter reading.
"Yes, Father?" Rarity asked, closing her book and placing it on her lap as her father sat in a chair across from her.
"Rarity darling, I have come to the conclusion that, perhaps...it is time we begin a new chapter in our lives."
"Indeed, Father?"
"You recall some few months ago I introduced you to a business partner of mine? Sir Trenderhoof Tremaine?"
"Of course! What of him?" Rarity's voice was full of concern.
"The poor man has passed on, leaving his honorable widow, Lady Sunset Tremaine. She still lives in her prime." Fancypants continued with a nervous but longing smile as he stared into space for a moment before turning back to face his daughter, who had a concerned frown on her face.
"You're worried about telling me something, though you needn't be. Especially if it will lead to your happiness, for that is all I wish for you." Rarity concluded with a smile, and her father beamed happily as he took her hands.
"Yes! Happiness! To gain this, I was wondering...may I be allowed one final chance?" Rarity laughed wholeheartedly.
"Of course I do, Father!" The two shared a warm embrace before catching each other's gaze.
"As you already know, she will merely be your stepmother, and you'll have two lovely stepsisters for company!" Nodding, Rarity hugged her father once again. Though she was happy her father had found love, the idea of living with three other women didn't set right with her for some reason, though she failed to place why.
A short three months later, Fancypants and Lady Sunset were wed.
Three years past, and once again, misfortune fell upon Rarity's household, where her father had grown fatally ill. On his deathbed, he left his daughter with a precious gift,"Rarity, my darling..." He heaved as he lightly grasped her hand. Rarity stared back at him, tears glassing over her eyes.
"Y-Yes...Father?"
"I want you to know that you are the most important thing to me, and although my body is moving on, my love for you is undying." Tears began to flow freely from Rarity's eyes.
"I love you too, Father..."
"Here..." Fancypants whispered as he took his daughter's hand and placed a heart-shaped locket in her hand,"Your mother told me to give you this on your eighteenth birthday...I guess you get it...a little...early...I love you, Rarity..." Fancypants concluded before he was gone.
Tears streamed down Rarity's face as she opened the locket to reveal a photo of both her parents holding her as a baby. Gasping lightly, Rarity slipped the necklace on before laying her head on her father's chest, crying softly, her heart stricken with grief.
Meanwhile, Lady Sunset stood behind Rarity, her two daughter's, Twilight and Starlight at her side. Jealous and angered at the love shown to Rarity, and a hatred for her stepdaughter formed in her stone-cold heart. As no will was left, Lady Sunset was able to seize the family fortune, and squander it on her two daughters.
Years past, and eventually forced to become a servant in her own home, Rarity took refuge in the attic, where her only friends were the birds and mice of the home. However, through all of the abuse and pain, Rarity kept her kind heart and spirits high, keeping a hope in her heart that one day, all of her dreams would come true. All she had to do, was believe.
The sun rose gently over Canterlot, it's rays piercing through the window, and landing on the bed in the attic of an old household. A small group of birds flew into the open window, and landed on the bed, chirping happily at the fair maiden sleeping in front of them.
After chirping for a few minutes, the young adult stirred, and finally awoke with a stretch and a yawn, giving her small friends a smile,"Well good morning to you too!" Rarity giggled as she sat up and leaned against her bedpost. The birds continued to chirp, pointing at the clock, which was almost ready to strike seven,"Yes yes, I know I have to get ready...I just had such a lovely dream..." Trailing off, Rarity brought her hands to her chest with a sigh as she stared longingly into space, at least until her bird friends chirped in question,"Oh? Well, it was about meeting a handsome, beautiful young woman who swept me off my feet and took me away from my stepfamily."
Just as the birds went to give their chirpish reply, the large clock tower outside struck seven, making everyone jump,"Ugh...that old clock. Come on! Get up! You say! Time for a new day!" She groaned slightly as she stood from her bed,"Alright everyone, time to get up!" She announced, and within moments, small mice began scurrying from their "rooms" inside the walls, groggy looks on their faces.
"Awww, already? But I was having such a lovely dream..." Gus complained as he walked up to Rarity's feet, Mary and Jaq Jaq at his side.
"Oh, I know, but we have work to do, and I know you want breakfast..." Rarity replied, a small smirk on her face.
"Breakfast? Why didn't you say that earlier!" The plump little mouse squeaked happily,"Let's get ready!"
Laughing, Rarity quickly made her bed, with the help of her birds, and then rushed behind her changing screen, pulling on her simple purple dress with white half-sleeves, and her bird friends tying her white apron around the dress following suit. As Rarity approached her dresser, Mary and Jaq had just finished working together to shine her flats, pulling their cloth away just as she slipped her feet into the shoes and sat down. She hummed to herself as she lifted her hairbrush from the dresser, and gently brushed the tangles from her curly hair, before picking up her purple ribbon, and tying it around her hair, pulling it back and tying it off with a bow,"Perfect," She smiled as she stood up,"Well I better get breakfast started..." She said to herself as she walked out of the attic and made her way down the long staircase.
As Rarity worked hard scrubbing the floors, she heard a sudden knock at the door. Standing, she left her rag in the bucket before going to answer the door.
"Yes?" She asked simply as she opened the door. Standing before her was a cyan girl that looked close to her age. She was wearing clothing that looked like it would be worn at the palace.
"Hello, Miss! I'm here to deliver a special letter from the Princess! Here you go! All eligible ladies are hereby invited and required to show themselves at the castle tomorrow evening for a Grand Gala! Where the princess is looking to choose her bride!" She said as she landed Rarity the letter before walking off to another house. Smiling, Rarity placed her broom against the wall and rushed upstairs to the dining room, where her stepsisters and stepmother were sure to be eating lunch by now.
"Um, stepmother?" Rarity called as she happily entered the room, forgetting to knock. She was instantly rewarded with angry glares from her stepfamily.
"Honestly, Rarity!" Lady Sunset scowled as she glared at her stepdaughter,"I thought I taught you better than this! What makes you think you can just barge in like this?!"
"Sorry, Stepmother. It's just that this letter arrived from the princess and-"
"The Princess?!" Twilight and Starlight announced at the same time, their attention instantly being caught.
"What's it say?!" Starlight asked, before being cut off by her sister.
"Probably wants to meet me personally! I'm sure she's heard all about me!" Twilight interrupted with a smirk. Lady Sunset only rolled her eyes as she stood up and took the letter from her stepdaughter and read it aloud.
You are cordially invited to the Royal Palace tomorrow evening for a Grand Gala! Princess Applejack is searching for a bride and invites/requires that all eligible maidens present themselves at the gala, so that she may choose the perfect bride.
By the time Lady Sunset had finished reading the letter, her two daughters were hugging each other and jumping for joy,"Oooh!! I just know she'll choose me!" Twilight giggled as she adjusted her glasses,"I'm absolutely perfect for her!"
"Oh please, get the dust off your glasses! I am the perfect bride for the princess!" Starlight retorted with a smirk.
"So um...stepmother...I was wondering if maybe...since all the kingdom is invited..." Before Rarity could finish, her stepsisters had been listening to her and busted into mock laughter.
"What?! That you could go?!" Twilight snapped.
"Please, the princess is looking for a bride, not a maid!" Starlight added, then the sisters stood from their seats,"Oh please, your highness, would you mind holding my broom for me?" Starlight added handing Twilight her fork from lunch, pretending it was a broom. Twilight took it.
"Of course, but hey, could you clean this ballroom after the gala for me?" Twilight replied as the two busted out laughing.
"Well..." Rarity said, trying to find her confidence,"The letter said that all maidens are required to come tomorrow night...so...I thought maybe I could go too..."
"I see your point, Rarity, and I think you should go!" Lady Sunset said, causing all three of the girl's mouths to drop.
"What?! But Mother-" Starlight and Twilight yelled in unison, before being cut off.
"Now girls!" Lady Sunset intruded,"I think I should offer Rarity a deal! If she can finish all of her chores, get us all ready for the gala, provided she can find something suitable to wear, she may come with us to the gala." Rarity's eyes lit with joy as she rushed up and hugged her stepmother.
"Oh thank you stepmother, thank you! I promise I'll get everything done!" Rarity exclaimed as she giddily ran from the room and began to perform her daily chores.
"Mother! How could you make a deal like that?!" Twilight growled.
"Yeah! What if the princess likes her over us!? Granted that probably won't happen but still! It could!" Starlight added, scowling.
"Now girls..." Sunset chuckled,"I said...'If'!"
"Ohhh..." The two chimed together.
"If...." Twilight repeated as the three exchanged evil glances before laughing evilly.
All throughout the afternoon, Rarity happily cleaned the mansion, a smile on her face, and her mice friends helped in any way they could. However, by the time the sun had started to set, the light had begun to fade from the young girl's eyes. True, she had gotten all of her chores done, and had gotten her stepsisters ready for the gala, but what was she going to wear?
"Oh well...there will be other galas I guess..." Rarity sighed as she trudged up to her attic bedroom, tears welling up in her eyes as she slowly entered her room.
"SURPRISE!!!"She heard suddenly as she opened the door, to see a beautiful blue gown that looked to go about to Rarity's knees. It was a one strap dress with a sequin finish, three frilly layers, and pure white boots to match.
"Oh my goodness! Jaq, Gus, Mary! Did you make this for me?!"
"Yep! We spruced up one of your old dresses from your mother for you!"
"That's amazing! Thank you so much!" She exclaimed as she gave her friends a small hug before changing, and rushing to catch her stepfamily before they left.
"Now remember girls, when you meet the princess, be sure to-" Sunset had been in the middle of lecturing her daughters on how to impress the princess when they arrived at the castle when she was cut off by Rarity rushing down the staircase.
"Wait! Please! Look, I finished my chores and got you all ready, I even fixed up my old dress and I was hoping I could still go with you..." Rarity said, stopping at the bottom of the stairs. All three girls were sharing the same shocked look.
"You actually managed to find a dress!?" Twilight exclaimed.
"How did you even make that? I know for a fact you don't have anything that nice!" Starlight added, sharing a glare with her sister.
"Now girls!" Sunset snapped as she passed by them,"I believe we all made a bargain...didn't we, Rarity?" Nodding in return, Rarity still held her hopeful smile,"After all..." Sunset continued as she seemed to tower over her stepdaughter, who quickly lost her smile, it becoming a nervous from,"This lace seems to add just the right touch...don't you think so, Starlight?" Sunset asked with a smirk.
After a closer examination at Rarity's dress, Starlight gasped,"Is that MY lace?!"
"And MY bracelet and barret!?" Twilight added, and within moments, the two sisters were over the poor teen, ripping off their possessions from what used to be Rarity's gala dress.
"Girls! Girls..." Lady Sunset said after a few moments,"That's quite enough!" Giggling, Sunset's daughters left the house and walking to the carriage that waited for them,"Good night," Sunset smiled at Rarity before shutting the door.
Tears running down her face, Rarity took off to the only place she had comfort: the garden, where she collapsed in front of a bench, and buried her face in her arms, openly crying,"I'm sorry father..." She whimpered, sitting up and looking at the locket around her neck,"I just...I have nothing to believe in anymore..." She cried as she wiped her tears away, only for more to replace them.
"Now that isn't a nice thing to think now is it?" An unfamiliar voice echoed.
"What? Who's there?" Rarity questioned, confused, and slightly frightened.
"Just your fairy godmother!" The soft and gentle voice continued as a beautiful young woman appeared. She had gorgeous buttermilk skin and was wearing a simple, but elegant strapless pink dress with a sweetheart neckline, and had a beaded belt that resembled the shape of a butterfly, the sequins covering it shimmering in the moonlight.
"My fairy...godmother?" Rarity questioned, standing up.
"Yep! But you can just call me, Fluttershy!"
"Oh...well...what are you doing here?"
"Isn't it obvious? I've seen how pure your heart is, inside and out, and have decided to assist you in getting to the gala!" Fluttershy giggled, waving her wand around for magical effect.
"Well...how are you going to do that exactly?"
"Well...do you happen to have an apple and some mice?"
"Yes, actually! Right over here!" Rarity pointed to the bench, where her mice friends were sitting, then she picked an apple from a nearby tree and handed it to Fluttershy.
"Alright, with the wave of my wand, I shall turn this apple into a carriage!" Fluttershy announced as she placed the apple on the ground and waved her wand, which now had magic sparks flowing from it and around the apple, which turned into a gorgeous golden carriage," And now for the mice!" Fluttershy continued, waving her wand again, and the mice changed into horses that were quickly fastened to the carriage.
"Goodness! This is amazing! I think the only thing left...if you don't mind...maybe mending my dress??"
"Oh Rarity, I'm sure your dress is lov-" Once Fluttershy caught a glimpse of the disaster formerly known as a dress, her posture changed from sweet to shocked,"My gosh! What happened to that thing?!"
"Well...long story..." Rarity replied, blushing with embarrassment.
"Here...try this dress on for size..." Fluttershy smiled as she waved her wand, and the magic began to surround her friend completely. When they magic faded, Rarity was now wearing a strapless midnight blue dress with a sweetheart neckline, a diamond beaded belt, and a light blue sash to cover over the skirt. She was also wearing light blue gloves that stopped at her elbows. Her hair was up in a curly updo, a small tiara for decoration, and finally,
"Glass slippers?" Rarity questioned, looking down at her new shoes.
"Yep! And you'll find they're really comfortable!" Fluttershy replied with a wink and a bright smile,"Now, I think it's high time you get to the palace!"
"Thank you so much!" Rarity said as she wrapped her arms around Fluttershy in a quick hug.
"You're welcome...oh! Before you go! Here's to make sure your family won't recognize you," Fluttershy added as she waved her wand, and magic sprinkled over Rarity,"And one last thing, the magic wears off on the last stroke of midnight, so make sure you're home by then."
"Midnight huh...oh that's more than enough time!" Rarity smiled as she stepped into the carriage, waved goodbye to Fluttershy, and was off to the palace!
When Rarity arrived at the palace, she felt as if all of her dreams had come true," Goodness...this place is gorgeous! Simply gorgeous!" Rarity exclaimed as she stepped out of the carriage and approached the palace steps.
As she entered the castle, she was simply speechless at the beautiful scenery, she hadn't experienced such a comfortable lifestyle since she was a little girl. Upon entering the ballroom, she stood at the top of the staircase, staring at the party going on at the bottom. Careful not to trip on her glass shoes, she gingerly walked down the stairs, and it wasn't until about halfway down that she noticed everyone was staring at her. She nervously curtsied as she stepped onto the ballroom floor when suddenly a beautiful young woman with blonde hair approached her. She was also wearing her hair in an updo and was wearing a spaghetti strap green dress that faded from light to dark green, sequins lining the entire top half of the dress,"Well hello there madam, I was wondering if uh...I could uh...have this...this..."
"Dance?" Rarity asked with a light chuckle.
"Yeah...dance..."
"You may," Rarity giggled as she bowed lightly in front of the stranger before they joined hands and began to sway across the dancefloor, soft yet beautiful music playing in the background as the rest of the crowd formed a circle around the couple. Rarity let the stranger lead her through the dance, which happened to be the waltz, a dance her father had taught her when she was just a little girl. It took a few moments before she realized the crowd around them,"They're all looking at you..." Rarity whispered as she looked up at her partner, who surprisingly just laughed softly.
"Believe me...they're all lookin' at you," Rarity couldn't help but blush at this comment. Rarity soon felt her mind going blank as she was quite literally swept off of her feet as she danced across the floor, the two dancers lost in each other's eyes. Rarity suddenly released a gasp as she was lifted from the ground and swung in a half circle, the crowd cheered at this. Rarity giggled as she was put down when the music began to slow down. She felt her partner swing her around and drop her into a dip, just as the song ended. Rarity finally opened her eyes to notice the crown that was atop her partner's head. Rarity gasped, she had just danced with Princess Applejack!
Applejack chuckled at her partner's confusion,"Come with me," She said as she took Rarity's hand and led her toward an exit.
"So you're the princess?" Rarity asked as she was led through the castle's garden.
"Well...yea, ah guess. I thought you'd figure that out on yer own!" Applejack chuckled.
"Oh well I...I'm sorry...I just don't get out much..."
"Sorry to hear that...so...ya already know mah name...what is it they call you?" Applejack asked with a warm smile.
"Well, I...never mind what they call me..."
"I'm sorry ta hear that..."
"Not your doing..."
"Neither yers I'll bet," By the time they had finished talking, they had arrived at a secret part of the garden, where a beautiful bench sat, surrounded by flowers, trees, and bushes,"I've never shown anyone this place. Ya must be special," Rarity blushed once again at this statement as they sat down together, giving Applejack a chance to notice Rarity's shoes,"Are yer shoes made of...glass?!"
"Yes..." Rarity laughed lightly,"And they're really comfortable,"
"Well...as ah'm sure ya know...I'm supposed to pick a bride tonight...and I was thinking maybe I have made that choice..."
"Really...who would that b-" Rarity started, just as the clock struck midnight,"Oh no! I have to go!" She exclaimed as she stood up.
"Go? What do ya have a curfew or somethin'?"
"Something like that...well...thank you, your highness, for a wonderful evening, it truly has been the best in my life!" Rarity explained quickly before she took off running toward the palace exit.
"Wait! Please! I'd at least like ta know yer name!" Applejack exclaimed as she took off after her mystery princess.
By the time she got to the palace steps, the clock had chimed three times, and Rarity was out of breath. She gasped as she tripped, almost falling, as one of her shoes came off on the steps. Knowing she had no time to stop, she simply left it there and jumped into her carriage,"Go go!" She yelled, and her ride took off back toward her home.
Applejack stopped at the top of stairs, sad that she hadn't caught up to the princess. However, her frown turned into a smile when she saw the shoe she had left behind,"Perfect! Rainbow Dash!" Applejack called, and very quickly her Grand Duke was at her side,"I want you ta search the entire kingdom, and whoever fits this glass slipper, is the girl that ah'm going to marry!"
"Aye aye, Princess!" Rainbow smiled as she rushed to get ready to fill her orders.
Meanwhile, Rarity's ride had crashed about half a mile from her home, just as it started to rain, which caused her to burst out laughing, as she carried her mice friends back in the last glass slipper she had left,"Oh this night was absolutely perfect! I think I've had enough fun to last me a lifetime!" She said as she began to stroll home when she heard her stepfamily raving in a carriage just down the street. Laughing, Rarity ran the rest of the way home.
When she got there, she hid the slipper in her room, getting it hidden just as she heard her family enter,"Rarity!!! Get down here!!" She heard Twilight yell. Giggling, Rarity did as told, running down the stairs,"Tea and a plate of biscuits! Now!" Twilight continued when Rarity entered the room.
"Right away, and welcome back!"
"You're cheerful!" Twilight said.
"And wet!" Starlight added.
"Oh I...took a walk in the rain! Always makes me feel better!" Rarity giggled as she filled her sister's orders and sat it on the table in front of them,"So how was the gala girls?" Rarity asked casually.
"Well, it was going really well, until this hussy showed up and stole the princess's attention! Princess Applejack spent the whole gala with her! Then when the mystery princess ran off, leaving the princess for no apparent reason, the duke shut down the whole gala!" Starlight ranted.
"Princess was probably ashamed she got ditched by a peasant!" Twilight snickered.
"Well, the gala was...okay nonetheless, I suppose..." Sunset sighed, rolling her eyes.
"I'm sure it was!" Rarity giggled,"So was this...uhm,'Hussy,' pretty?" Rarity asked, placing her elbows on the table and supporting her head with her hands.
"Well, I guess so. Her dress was pretty, but she was wearing these cheap glass slippers!" Twilight replied.
"Yes...?" Rarity asked with a smile.
"And she was wearing some tiara, probably trying to pass herself off as a princess!" Starlight added.
"Yes..." Rarity replied dreamily, a goofy smile on her face. All this sudden merry charismatic activity provoking suspicion from Lady Sunset, who watched her stepdaughter with narrow eyes.
It wasn't long after the sun rose that the entire kingdom knew about the mystery princess and that the princess herself, escorted by the grand duke, would be visiting every house in the kingdom, determined to find the girl who fits the shoe. Unfortunately, Rarity's wicked stepmother had locked her away in her attic prison, as she didn't want Rarity to have any chance of fitting the slipper and winning the princess's heart. Dejected, Rarity sat in her room on the window sill, holding the only piece of the sweet memory she had of the night before, the glass slipper. She stared at it, tears slowly falling down her face and landing on the tattered rags she called her clothing. She sighed,"Well...you had one perfect night...take this as a good thing, Rarity...soon...this will be a beautiful memory..." She smiled sadly as she stared out her window, which was cracked open slightly, as she began to sing softly to herself.
"Lavender's blue, dilly dilly,
Lavender's green
When you are king, dilly dilly,
I shall be queen..."
Rarity's beautiful melody floated out of the window and into the air, flying through the wind, as the prince and duke approached her home,"Ooh! The Princess is here!" Starlight exclaimed to her sister.
"Remember girls, this is your chance to be with the princess!" Lady Sunset said as she opened the door to greet her guests,"Your Highness, Grand Duke," She said as she bowed them both, before letting them in.
"Well, I'm sure ya know why we are here. So who are the maidens tryin' on the shoe?" Applejack asked, and quickly Starlight and Twilight were introduced to the Duke, who held the slipper.
"Oh! Me first!" Twilight said as she snatched the slipper from the pillow and slipped it on. Unfortunately, the shoe was much too big.
"Oh well, too bad," Starlight chuckled as she took the shoe and tried it on next, but the shoe was too small.
"Well, that settles that...is there any other girls in your household, Madam?" Applejack asked.
"Uh, nope! Just us..." Sunset replied with a smile.
"Hang on...what's that sound?" Rainbow asked, hearing a voice coming from upstairs.
"...Call up your friends, dilly, dilly
Set them to work
Some to the plow, dilly dilly,
Some to the fork..."
"Oh, that? It's nothing!" Sunset replied quickly.
"Well then, has your cat learned to sing?" Applejack asked suspiciously.
"Well, uh-" Sunset was cut off by the Princess.
"Go check it out, Dash," Applejack commanded.
"Gladly your highness," Rainbow said with a bow before venturing up the stairs.
<><><>
"...Who told you so, dilly dilly,
Who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly,
That told me so..."
Just as Rarity finished her song, she heard someone unlocking the door. Assuming it was her stepmother, she hid her slipper in her apron.
"Um, is anyone in here?" Rainbow asked, and Rarity stood up.
"Uhm...me?" Rarity replied quizzically.
"Madam, you are required to present yourself to your princess."
Rarity smiled,"Gladly,"
"Not so fast!" Lady Sunset said as she barged into the room.
"And what gives you the right to stop her? Are you a countess? A princess?" Sunset looked shocked, as she gave Rarity a warning glare.
"I am her mother!" Rarity laughed at this.
"You are not, and have never been my mother, for nobody deserves to be treated as terribly as you have treated me over the years. When I have done nothing but be kind to you." Rarity stated boldly, and Rainbow smirked.
"Just as I thought. Please, come with me, Miss," Rainbow said, extending her hand in a polite gesture, which Rarity gladly accepted.
"Your Highness. This is Miss Rarity," Rainbow said as she entered the living room, letting Rarity enter the room before stepping out, giving the two some privacy. Applejack smiled as she approached the young woman, the slipper will fit.
"Your Highness..." Rarity began breathlessly,"I have no carriage, no wealth, no house or even parents. I am not even sure if that beautiful slipper will fit. However, it if does...will you take me as I am?" She asked, hopeful blue eyes staring into Applejack's gentle green ones.
"Of course ah will," Applejack replied as she took Rarity by the hand and led her to the couch, where she sat her down and then bent down on one knee. Gingerly, she took the slipper and easily slipped it on Rarity's foot.
It was a perfect fit.
"Perfect fit...ah, don't suppose..." Rarity giggled and reached into her apron, pulling out the matching slipper. Applejack smiled and slipped the other shoe on, before pulling Rarity onto her feet, then closing the gap between them, in a gentle, passionate kiss.
Rarity smiled as she stared at her new wife at the doorway of the balcony, the two in their wedding gowns,"Are you ready for this?"
"Only if ya are with me through whatever challenges come our way,"
"Just try and stop me!" Rarity laughed as they took hands and walked out onto the balcony, presenting themselves as a wedded couple to the public for the first time.
Of course, after a long apology, and forgiveness, Rarity allowed her stepfamily to join them in living in the palace, and they all lived happily ever after!
The End.
"Oh, that was so much fun!!!!" Rarity laughed as she followed her girlfriend backstage with a smile, the two still in their wedding costumes. They shared a short kiss as they entered the dressing rooms.
"Yeah...I think I sounded a little meaner than I wanted to be though...sorry Rarity..." Sunset said sheepishly, a blush growing on her face as she pulled the pins keeping her hair up out, and started brushing it back into its normal style.
"Hey, it was acting! I understand! I know you didn't mean it!" Rarity smiled as she too began to take her hair down.
"So, anyone what our next story is?" Applejack asked as she approached the group.
"I heard it's about a girl who is having a very bad hair day!" Twilight chuckled, and the group nodded in understanding.
"Ooh! I wonder who Rapunzel is going to be!!!" Pinkie giggled as she hopped into the dressing room, and began going through her cast booklet,"Ooh! This next story is gonna be a real doozy!" She said before facing the readers,"Get ready! Because Tangled it about to rock this theater themed book!!"
Author's Note
A/N: Yep...so as Pinkie said, Tangled is going to be the next story, more information on it will be out soon! Anyway, let me know what you thought of this story because I spent the last 5 hours STRAIGHT working on it! Who do you think will be Rapunzel and Flynn? Give your guess in the comments! Also, this story outside the fairytales DOES have cannon ships, all stories that have ships outside of this list are JUST for the "play"/story!
-FlutterCord (Fluttershy X Discord)
-SciSet (Sci-Twilight Sparkle X Sunset Shimmer)
-PinkieDash (Pinkie Pie X Rainbow Dash)
(Obviously) -RariJack (Rarity X Applejack)
Don't agree with it? Too bad! My story! Your ship could still be featured, even if it isn't technically "Cannon" in this universe! ;)
Yep, this is kinda in a play form. Fun right? I thought I would try something new! "Lavender's Blue" belongs to its original writers and composers~!!
