Behind our decency
Deal with the devil

I remember nothing.
Not a single thing.
I look up in the sky past the dark green leaves of the trees, only to see dark clouds moving at a slow speed. To me it almost looks like a storm is underway, but the winds have yet to really imply that. I recently just woke up, being carried by a nearby river to who knows where. After awakening and crawling out of the river I began to make my way through the thick shrubs, some I could tell were quite thorny, but it bothered me none.
Why?
Now, I was just a soaking wet naked mess. Walking on a literal dirt road that I found. I hear around me creatures screeching and the wooden trunks of the trees groaning in unsettling ways, but yet I felt no fear.
Why was that?
I look at the sun past the branches, trying to indicate any form of direction. East? West? How do I know what those are? I must have been taught them, but by who? Why can I remember that, but not my own name?
Strange.
If I had to guess, I’d say I was heading north. Base on the direction the sun seemed to be setting towards. Sun was also decently high, meaning it wasn’t too late in the afternoon. Yet somehow, the light from it doesn’t reach quite well in this seemingly large forest I find myself in. It remains very dim, leaving me with a sorta creepy atmosphere. But yet as I said before, I have yet to feel fear.
This ground doesn’t exactly look to soft either, I see pebbles and tiny rigid rocks everywhere. Shouldn’t this hurt my feet? I feel like that would be the normal thing. I also understand that I’m wet, so wouldn’t it also be normal to be uncomfortably cold. It does feel a little cool, but the temperature is not uncomfortable to me. For some reason I find that is unusual.
*snap*
I continue walking even after hearing that. Something large has started recently following me. Stalking me. Like I was prey of some kind. Still, I felt not an ounce of fear. Deep inside of me I had a feeling that whatever it was, it could never compare to me.
Was this arrogance?
No, no it was much more than that. More like an instinct. An instinct telling me that this creature of whatever kind is just inferior to me.
I take a glance back in the trees, I could tell that going off the path and into the tree line it was very dark, but if I focused a little that darkness faded quite fast. And I could see the animal. It was bigger than me, a lion hybrid of some kind, with a tail of a scorpion and wings like a bat. I walk as if I saw nothing. I want it to strike first, so it can feel the hopelessness of being overtaken after attacking me first.
I wait.
*CRACK*
There.
I peer over my shoulder only to see it charging at me, bearing it claws, and spreading it wings. It pounces. The creature that was once on the ground was now in the air, it’s jaw wide, aiming for my neck most likely. Faster than even I knew I could move, I turned around, the creature was moving in seemingly slow motion for me. I truly had enough time to observe it’s positioning before it ever even got to me. Both its front paw spread outward, claws extended, and teeth exposed. It was the picture of the perfect predator. What does that make me then?
I smile.
I move myself under my lion friend faster than it could probably perceive me and in curling my fist, I punch that son of a bitch right on the side of its torso. Feeling my hand breaking through its bones.
The creature makes no vocal sounds as it flies off towards the left tree line skimming off the edge of a tree only too completely break through a much smaller tree further behind it. The smaller tree comes crashing down, making a lot of noise. All types of bird startle and start to fly off in every direction from what was once probably their homes.
I walk off the path, towards the creature, stepping on twigs, leaves, anything that allows the creature to know I was coming. I begin to feel something, something coming off of the creature. I have no idea what it was but it made me feel good. As I was coming closer, I hear it begin to whimper as it tries to crawl away from me. I step on its tail, making sure it knows that there’s no escape.
*SNAP*
The creature, wait, actually you know what, I’ll name him Bob. Just so I don’t have to keep calling it “the creature”. Bob roars in pain as I just recently broke its tail near the end. It was so damn loud, I’m sure the entire forest could hear that. I quickly move and grab the back of its head, shoving it in the dirt, snout first. No more kitty noises from Bob.
I laugh as Bob struggles.
Now time t-….wait.
“TWILIGHT!!!”
I turn back towards the path only to see six…. I don’t know, horse women? Two with yellow and purple fur looking down at me and Bob, the yellow one is like hiding behind the purple one I may add, while four others with pink, orange, white, and blue fur are coming up behind them. The purple one has a horn on its head aimed at me, with an alarming purple glow to it.
Uh oh.
Before they knew it, I was up off of Bob and took cover behind a large tree about 15 feet away.
*Boom*
I knew it.
The ground next to Bob apparently was shot by some type of unknown energy, creating a small purple explosion.
Cool.
“What the?! Where did it go?!” The purple horse lady said.
The yellow one rushed towards Bob, looking very much worried for its health.
“Why in tarnation are ya shootin ya magic at a manticore now Twilight?!” The orange horse lady says going beside her looking shocked.
Nice accent.
“No, Applejack, I swear to you, I saw something over the manticore, it was about to kill it!” Looking towards her yellow friend she pointed, “Fluttershy saw it too!”
The yellow one weirdly stroking the “manticores” red mane turned to her orange companion and nodded.
Wait a second, I can understand them.
This is wonderful! I can communicate with them! Wait, what should I say? They don’t really seem to like that fact that I almost tore Bob apart. I look at them again, the rest of them all caught up, looks like they’re altogether. Most of them looking confused by the scene before them.
Well, it’s now or never I guess.
“Umm…I promise I only did it in self-defense!”
*gasps*
“Who’s there!” the one named Twilight calls out, getting in front of her friends while looking in my general direction.
I put myself in the open with my arms up.
Still naked.
“I mean you and your friends no harm.” I say to them.
“Show yourself first then!” Twilight says.
What?
“Umm your looking right at me ma’am”
“How come we can’t see you then?!” she exclaims.
“I don’t your probably just blind then, I’m right here!”
Oh my, I just realized that the reason that they don’t see me, is because I didn’t want them to see me. I actually must be invisible to them somehow.
“What?! Hey, you don’t talk to my friend like that you big meanie!” The pink shouts at me getting in front of her purple friend, her noticeably large breast bouncing as she did so.
Heh heh, nice.
“Hey shut up!” I say.
“No, you shut up!” she replies.
“No you!”
“No you!”
“No you!”
“No you!”
“Pinkie!” the blue one with rainbow colored hair yells to her.
“Yes, Dashie.” She turns and replies all chipper like.
All of them staring at her in confusion.
“Please stop.” She sighs, looking drained by our encounter.
“Okie dokie loki!” She replies as she skips back to her group.
Wow, that was all it took?
“Ok now that that’s over, after thinking about it for a second I realized that I'm probably invisible for y'all. Which is probably the best case considering that I’m naked.” I explain to them. Now realizing that if they could see me, they would probably also see my dick swinging around.
A couple of them blush at that.
Right after I said that, Bob began to whimper again. Blood can now be seen pooling in its mouth, trickling down into the soft soil. Fluttershy still comforting it by petting its mane.
She turned looking at my direction even though she can’t see me.
“Why did you do this?” she asked me. Giving me a serious look.
“Well like I said Butters, I was defending myself, that thing tried to kill me and I fought back.” I say to her, but she still doesn’t look pleased.
She ignores my mis-use of her name.
“No, he was already down and injured. You even had enough time to break his tail. How is he going to hunt and feed his family now that he can’t move?” Her face saddens.
Who cares?
“He should have not attacked me then.” I told her.
“If your magic was strong enough to knock him through a tree I’d say you could have just warned him and I’m sure he would have left you alone.” Twilight butts in.
Magic?
“Well I don’t think I have magic like you sweetie. I can’t project energy like the way you did, all I did was punch it once and that happened.”
Her eyes widen and so do her friends’.
“You punched him?” she asks as reassurance.
“Yep that’s what I said.” I tell her.
The blue one once called Dashie steps up.
“That’s impossible!” she tells me. “You can possibly be that strong, even a earthpony or a minotaur would have trouble fighting some like a manticore with their bare hands!”
She must have saw me from a distance earlier I guess, otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to come to that conclusion.
“Well good thing I’m neither then.”
They stand there shocked. Deep down I could tell they didn’t believe me, looking down at my body I see that I’m pretty built, but I don’t exactly look like the strongest individual. I wouldn’t believe it myself to be honest.
I’m kind of tired of not having clothes on while they do. If I can turn myself invisible, could I possible put some clothes on me? It may not happen, but I might as well try.
I concentrate. Closing my eyes.
I begin to feel something wrap around my body.
I open my eyes to see literal smoky darkness engulfing some of my body, and before I knew it I saw black boots, a pair of jeans, and a brown long sleeve shirt on me. No underwear, but still an improvement.
Amazing
They group of horse women seemed to take a defense position, looking directly at me this time.
“Well looks like you all can see me now.” I tell them.
“Yeah, but what they hay was that?!” The one named Applejack says.
“I was just putting on some clothes. Nothing terrible.”
Every one of them eye me up and down, taking in my features. Almost like they haven’t seen anything like me before.
“Well if you ask me, I’d say that taste is kind of bland darling.” The white one says to me looking taken back by my cloths and might I add very slightly disturbed.
“Good thing no one asked you then huh?” I smile at her.
Humph she says as she looks away pointing her muzzle up.
“Well we can’t just let you go now.” Twilight says.
“Huh? And why is that?” I say crossing my arms.
“Because you just mortally wounded an endangered species! Under Equestrian law that’s a crime!”
My eyes widen.
Damn I fucked up.
Wait if I’m being convicted, that means that they have to take me back to wherever they came from. There’s questions that I need answered, like about their culture, where I am, and if there’s anyone of authority I can talk too.
I begin to slowly walk towards them, giving them a bit of a scare.
“How about this, I help you get that thing to a doctor, and if you get me something to eat, I’ll allow you to convict me of whatever crime I have committed.”
At this point I was up in her face, although I was like a full head and a half taller than her. She tries to toughen up and gives me her serious face, narrowing her large purple eyes at me. That feeling, radiating off of her, it’s the same as when that manticore tried to get away from me. I know what it is now.
Fear.
“Do we have a deal…Miss Twilight?”
She looks back at her friends, most of them with worried expressions, except for Dashie and Applejack, looking in my direction all types of threatening.
She looks back at me dead in the eyes and nods.
“Deal.”
