Fifty years ago, the unicorn known as Vinyl Scratch died. Now, she stalks the night with an ever-present hunger for the blood of living ponies.

It is a curse she has fought long and hard to control. Only the support and willing sacrifices of her roommate Octavia keep her somewhat in check. Still, she always worries about her secret becoming public knowledge, especially considering the fact that she seems to be the only vampire in Equestria.

That fact, however, is about to change.

One night, Vinyl discovers that strange, vampiric creatures have begun to stalk the night alongside her. These hairless, ape-like bloodsuckers do not care who they hurt or kill, and they seem to be plotting something big. The only things stopping them from overtaking the whole nation may be Vinyl and another newcomer. One with the strengths of a vampire, but none of their weaknesses. A hunter able to move in daylight but fight with equal might to even the most savage nosferatu.
