It was peculiar there had been only one human to appear in the world of colorful equines. Badly injured when the deer of the Everfree found him, they had sent him to Ponyville when his medical needs exceeded what they had been able to provide. It took less than a week for the human, named Jake, to move out. It wasn’t much of a surprise to anyone but the princess. She couldn’t understand why anyone would want to actively get out of education and contributing to science. Okay, so her experiments weren’t always ethical – she was fond of messing with his diet and sleep routines just to see how he’d respond, for example, and her idea of a brief lesson involved six hour lessons on obscure historical figures, sometimes quoting entire passages in the original Old Ponish.
It was for the sake of his sanity and survival that he made a point of moving out.
Fortunately, the residents of Ponyville were a helpful, cheery lot. A mare named Pinkie Pie was all too happy to have the human around and soon set him up with a job at the local confectionary. At first, his present half killed business, but week by week, he built up trust. He shook his head, the freedom normally allowed to kids here in Ponyville was actually quite shocking to him. It was something about them discovering themselves, learning what makes them special. Over the next hour or so, the pony and the human finished killing the rest of the bottle. Finally he picked up the now empty bottle and tottered over to the trash can.
