//-------------------------------------------------------// Love You So Bad -by Starlight Arrow- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// I Think I'm In Love With You //-------------------------------------------------------// I Think I'm In Love With You Sunset Shimmer considered herself open-minded since forever. She wouldn't judge a person based on their races, sexualities or religious/political views, literally nothing. As she put on a beige leather jacket, she checked her appearance one more time in a mirror hanging by the side of the apartment's door. Her red and golden locks were free, the long, loose curls cascading down her shoulders and back. Her cleavage was defined thanks the grey V-neck she was wearing under the jacket, along with some ripped jeans and her usual boots. She sighed as she grabbed her keys. “I'm going!” the yellow girl shouted, knowing too well that her roommate might've already guessed. Sunset looked down at her attire and shrugged. She doesn't need to dress ‘too special‘ for this one. After all, she was sure it's gonna end up just like the other dates; either at his place or some random hotel room. She knew that it was a no-no to bring a date to the apartment. And so, she put on her best half-smile half-smirk walking to the car that was waiting in front of the door. The radiant glow of the sun shone through the uncurtained window, casting an elongated shadow upon none other than Sunset Shimmer. The female cursed silently as she started picking her clothes from the floor. Fortunately it was a Sunday or else she would have been late for work. She silently tiptoed out of the hotel room, have been called a cab already. As soon as she set foot in her shared apartment she was welcomed by the sight of her roommate–Twilight Sparkle, who was eating cereals while watching some scientific show. “So, how was it?” the younger girl asked, turning her head slightly to look at the newcomer. Sunset said nothing, instead plopped down next to her on the couch. She sighed and smiled faintly. “Nothing special. How's your day going?” Sunset asked, only for Twilight to shrug as a response. Twilight was used to this. Her roommate would go out on dates, spend the night out and leave him the next day. She went back to watching her show, feeling the older girl's eyes on her but deciding to ignore it anyway. Sunset couldn't help but stare at Twilight. Her gaze was focused on the TV, mouth slightly agape as she took in as much information as she could. She would slowly bring a spoonful of cereals to her mouth, chewing ever so slowly on it. Sunset couldn't control the little smile escaping her lips. Her roommate was seriously adorable. “Are you gonna spend the day looking at me?” Sunset flinched as the words escaped Twilight's mouth followed by a small giggle, still looking at the TV. Sunset shook her head and got up. “I'm going to take a bath.” she ruffled the younger's hair as she passed by, eliciting a groan of disapproval from her. Sunset knew the gesture annoyed her; and oh boy does she love annoying her. Lunch was finally here which meant that Sunset needed to get out of her room and go grab something to eat, otherwise her starving belly is gonna kill her. On her way out, she caught Twilight opening a box of pizza. “Oh, you're finally out of the Sunset-cave. Ran out of criminals to beat up?” Sunset snorted at her nerdy friend, shaking her head slightly. Once she finally caught a full glimpse of the other girl, her heart was beating in an abnormal rate. She was wearing simple PJ’s, yet she managed to look so beautiful. She suddenly felt her face heating up as she silently cursed, looking away in a try to hide her burning face. She started shifting slowly, looking down as she rubbed the back of her head; a nervous habit. “I-I will order delivery-” “No need to, Sunny. I already ordered for you,” Twilight beamed as she lifted a box of pizza, “I knew that you're gonna wake up whining about how hungry you are.” Sunset broke into a small grin, taking the box from Twilight's hands. “Look at my Sparky being an amazing friend,” Sunset immediately regretted her choice of words. My Sparky?? MY?? Ugh, Sunset, how stupid can you be. Sunset thought as she sat down, stuffing her mouth after mumbling a small thank you. Twilight on the other hand, was looking down at her own plate, poking the slice of pizza. Great, Sunset. Waaay to ruin the mood. “Uh, so, what are your plans for today?” Sunset eventually broke the ice, in an attempt to start a conversation. Twilight only shrugged. “Well, there's this marathon of my favorite science show for the whole day, i guess that's all,” Well, that was expected from her nerdy AND introverted friend. “How about you, Sunset?” Sunset placed a finger on her chin, tapping it repeatedly. “I guess i can stick around for today. Mind if i join you?” “Of course!” It's already afternoon and the two girls were cuddled up watching some scientific crap Sunset was pretending to be interested in. Sunset was trying so hard not to drift to sleep. She wrapped her arm tighter around Twilight from behind. She noted that the other girl ADORES being the small spoon. She smiled at the soft thought, slowly burying her face in the dark blue, streaked hair in front of her; which elicited a small giggle from Twilight. She smiled, soon cut off by a yawn that escaped her lips. It was loud enough to be heard by the other girl. “You know, we can watch something else if you'd want,” Twilight placed her hand on Sunset's own that was rubbing her belly, “It's really okay with me.” Sunset blinked, taking in Twilight's words. She shook her head. “Nah, it's totally okay with me,” the older lifted her head slightly so she can meet Twilight's gaze that was looking back at her, “I really like it.” she smiled, nodding slightly. Actually, Sunset does like science, but she was never a huge fan of it. Not more than her roommate. She knew the other girl really liked this stuff, and who was she to take the things she likes from her and her puppy eyes? The two girls soon went back to cuddling. And Sunset started to regret her choice. Monday was seriously the worst. Sunset parked her bike. If she wasn't fond of her job, she'd probably quit without thinking. As she went inside the building, she was greeted by students. Sunset worked as an art professor in Canterlot University's art department. She smiled at the sight of Rainbow Dash, a coach in the Physical Education department, and one of her best friends. The two girls high-fived and started walking together, chatting and laughing. Sunset placed a hand on Rainbow's shoulder to indicate that she was being serious at the moment. “Rainbow, i have to ask you something,” Rainbow ushered her to go on, “I went out with almost every guy in Canterlot, yet no one satisfied me enough,” she sighed before continuing, “Why can't i get settled? Am i the problem? ” Rainbow pursed her lips to the side, her eyebrows furrowing indicating that she was thinking. “Sunset, you're a very talented, sweet and lovely woman. I don't think anyone with a working, functioning brain wouldn't want to be with you. Even i want to be with you!” Sunset's eyes widened as she looked back at Rainbow. “BUWAHAHA!! I'm just kidding!” Rainbow slapped her knee as she exploded with laughter, “You should've seen your face!” Sunset scoffed as she secretly flashed her middle finger at Rainbow. Work was soon over and the two roommates were in their respective rooms. Sunset Shimmer has just finished taking a little bath, opening her laptop after putting on some comfortable PJ’s. She was about to stalk her favorite artists and explore the latest news about her field, art, until a small notification box popped up. Timber Spruce added new photos—With Twilight Sparkle. Her grip on the mouse became a little shaky, her teeth gritting as she clicked on the notification, her Mystable account quickly appearing. She scrolled down, finding new posts; minutes ago. She waited for the pictures to load, huffing slightly in boredom as her eyes scanned the slightest details in the post. Her heart skipped a beat as the pictures were finally clear. Timber Spruce, Twilight's boyfriend, was standing next to her in the pictures, an arm wrapped around the petite waist and a huge grin on his face. Twilight on the other hand was sporting a forced smile, Sunset knew her friend too much to tell she was faking it—even through a laptop screen. Sunset knew that what she was doing is wrong. She shouldn't be wishing to be in his place, she shouldn't be wishing for her own arm, to be wrapped around that beautiful waist– hell, she shouldn't be stalking her bestfriend's boyfriend! But, on the other hand, the owner of such beauty was just a wall away from her. Sunset slowly looked at the barrier separating hers and Twilight's room, her breath going heavier as she went through the pros and cons in her head. Obviously, the pros were outnumbered by the cons. One, her friendship with Twilight would be completely destroyed if the latter wasn't interested in her. Two, Sunset didn't know if she even liked girls. Hell, how does one even know that? Oh and also, she has a boyfriend she's not even interested in. Sunset sighed, slowly pushing her laptop's screen down. She didn't really feel like surfing the internet anymore. She didn't even feel like staying awake anymore. And so, the yellow girl crashed on her bed, hoping she wouldn't dream of a certain purple friend. “Rainbow Dash!” the rainbow haired girl turned at the familiar sound, flashing a grin at her fellow professor. “Morning Sunset,” Rainbow eyed her yellow friend, raising a brow, “Uh, i suppose you didn't have a good night?” judging from the bags under Sunset’s eyes, her pale face and unorganized outfit, Rainbow figured that it was a long night of tossing around in bed for Sunset. “Don’t, remind me,” Sunset started messaging her forehead, eyebrows furrowed as she groaned, “My life is taking a U-turn, and i don't think i like where it is going,” She sighed and looked up at Rainbow with empty eyes; “Can i ask you a question?” Rainbow nodded slowly, taking a sip from her coffee. “Man, what's with you and your questions these days. But sure, go ahead!” “How did you know that you're a lesbian?” Rainbow spat out her coffee. “Darling,” Rarity chuckled as she reached her hand to hold Sunset's from across the table, flashing a smile at her. They were currently at Rarity’s boutique, having a conversation about Sunset's sudden question, “It is absolutely alright to question your sexuality. Really darling, there's nothing, no one, who can define it for you.” Applejack nodded, agreeing with her girlfriend, “Ya heard her, sugarcube, it ain't nobody's business.” she wrapped an arm around her friend's shoulder. Sunset sighed slightly, “I don't know girls, i just,” she blushed and quickly proceeded to cover her face, mumbling incoherent words. “What was that, darling?” “I feel strange around this certain girl. We act like a couple, yet we aren't. She.. she already is taken..” Sunset added the last sentence in the smallest voice she could muster. Applejack and Rarity looked at each other, both nodding. “Well, have you perhaps considered, telling her how you feel?” Rarity smiled a bit, squeezing Sunset's hand. “But..” “Ah’m sure y'all would figure something out. Just don't be a chicken and tell her, Sunset. Everythin’ would be okay.” Applejack nodded. “And how exactly do i do that?” Sunset looked back up at Rarity, confusion written all over her face. “You do it the way Sunset Shimmer would, darling,” Rarity broke into a huge encouraging smile, followed by a thumbs-up from her girlfriend. “You’re.. right. I shouldn't keep this bugging me anymore. At least, she shouldn't stay with someone she doesn't even like,” she mumbled, “That's it! I'll be going, thanks girls!” As soon as the bacon haired girl left, the couple shared a knowing look. “Seriously, both of 'em are so dumb. Everytime ah sit with 'em, i feel like ah might get diabetes from all the flirting. Those two are absolutely in love for cryin’ out loud!” Applejack scoffed after she finished her little rant, smiling after succeeding at making her girlfriend giggle. “Oh, do i love me an adorable whiny baby.” Do i really have to do this? I can just move cities, change identities, start a new life and forget that any of this happene- Sunset pushed aside the negative thoughts. She decided to finally do this. She can't keep on ignoring her feelings anymore. As she sat down on the couch, she decided to watch some cartoons till Twilight returns home from grocery shopping. She noticed the papers on the coffee table, they were filled with science and little cute doodles of Twilight and.. herself? She quickly picked the papers, looking at a small drawing of a dark haired girl, holding hands with a red haired girl. There were huge smiles on their faces, and a small heart between their heads. Sunset didn't even feel the small tear that rolled down her cheek. Sunset has seen multiple magnificent works of art. Ones incredibly detailed, amazingly shadowed and defined. She laid eyes on ones of the greatest paintings, portraits—masterpieces. She looked at global masterpieces, she was amazed by the effort spent on them, the time it took to get such incredible works to exist- but this, was on another level for her. It was perfect. Her mouth curved upwards in a smile, her heartbeat increasing more than usual as she hugged the paper close to her. It was right in front of her. Love, yes. She loved the other girl. She cherished her dearly. She loved her when she offered to take care of her when she hit rock bottom. She loved her when she gave her the warmest, tightest hugs in the world. She loved her when she gave her those heart-warming smiles of hers. She loved her dorky self, her nerdy self, her mature self— she loved her. Upon the realization, she set the papers down, wiped her eyes and sat correctly. She would tell the other girl how she feels. She didn't care about the result. She needed to tell the younger girl. Soon, the sound of keys rambling was heard from the apartment’s door. Sunset pretended to be focusing on the TV. She took a deep breath, practicing a speech in her head. Soon, footsteps were heard. “Oh, hey Sunset,” she heard the girl's voice from behind. “I didn’t know you finish work early today.” she smiled and sat down after Sunset tapped on the spot next to her on the sofa. “Actually, i took a day off,” Sunset trailed as she looked down, “I didn't feel too well.” Twilight's expression softened. She quickly places a hand on Sunset's. “You know you can talk to me, Sunset.” Twilight gave her a small reassuring smile. Sunset took a deep breath, looking right onto the younger’s eyes. She always considered Twilight's eyes to be the prettiest, but today well, they're really pretty. Sunset was lost for a moment in them. Snap out of it Sunset! Just tell her and get it over with! “I.. uh.. T-Twilight, i'm.. i think..” she sighed and looked down for a moment. “Everytime i look at you i feel things, you're a very gentle and caring friend, you're so pretty and smart..” she looked back up at Twilight's eyes. “Hm?” the younger scooted closer, gently squeezing her hand, ushering her to continue. Sunset's heartbeats quickened as the space between them was practically non-existent. “I’m..” Her eyes were fixed on the other's, her breath was caught in her throat as she noticed the younger's face leaning forward. “You’re..?” “I think i'm in love with you.” Sunset didn't expect the tears from her friend. “I love you too, Sunset. But..” A few months later, Sunset is currently standing in the altar. She looked down at the bouquet in hand. Rarity began to play the pipe organ as everyone's heads turned to the newly arrived bride. Twilight started slowly walking down the aisle, her expression being the complete opposite of her dad's pleased one. Sunset's heart clenched painfully. She tried so hard to smile through the pain as the woman she loves stood in the altar, in front of her soon-to-be-husband. Timber Spruce took her hand, complimenting how beautiful she looked before he said his vows, followed by Twilight's. They kissed after being announced as husband as wife. Sunset stood there, behind the bride, trying to be happy for her friend. But how can you be happy witnessing the person you love, exchanging vows with someone she's not even fond of?
