After Starlight Glimmer left Twilight stranded in the time line of Nightmare Moon's rule, the corrupted Princess of the Night successfully got a hold of Star Swirl's time travel spell. Knowing this would result in the permanent reign of Nightmare Moon, or possible another villain, Twilight is forced to destroy the spell, in hopes that she can still find a way to restore the correct version of Equestria. She is unable to get much father, however, before Nightmare Moon throws Twilight in her dungeon, where she finds a rather familiar pink mare in the cell across from her . . .
