Another Sister

Rarity was sitting on the bed painting her toe nails while relaxing. It had been a long day for her as she had thrown a birthday party for Sweetie Belle who was entering her teenage years so she was glad to just sit down and relax. As she painted her nails Sweetie Belle knocked on her door.

"Come in." Rarity said. Sweetie Belle opened the door and smiled at her big sister. Her sister looked up and stopped what she was doing.

"Yes Sweetie Belle?" Rarity asked.

"Could I sit on your bed?" Sweetie Belle asked in a shy voice. Sweetie Belle's response felt weird to Rarity as Sweetie Belle was never shy. She wondered if Sweetie Belle was going through something.

"Sure...is everything alright?" Rarity asked. Sweetie Belle sat by Rarity and looked at Rarity. Rarity watched her sister look at her.

"I was in your room yesterday and I found out about something. I know you probably will deny it though." Sweetie Belle said. Rarity became alert. She worried about Sweetie Belle finding her personal diary or finding someone that was between her and her mom. On the other hand she tried to think positive and hoped that it was just a funny picture or something.

"I won't deny it. You know that I'm always honest about you. No matter how personal it is I'll tell you. I'll tell you even if it's a closely kept secret between me and mom. Go ahead Sweetie Belle I'm listening." Rarity said.

"When I was in your room hanging out you left a folder open and it described a medical incident about a stillbirth...it said that this still birth was a female and it listed the fetus's removal date the same day as the day of my birth....What are you and my parents hiding from me?" Sweetie Belle asked. Rarity became very upset. She feared this day for years she decided that she would reveal the truth once and for all.

"Sweetie Belle. On the day that were born....you had a twin sister. That twin sister died on the day my mother gave birth to you. Your twin sister suffocated while you survived. I found out months later. It was hard for me to take at first. I hid it from you for a long time but now I know that the truth is out. I'm sorry Sweetie Belle." Rarity said as she started to cry.

Sweetie Belle couldn't believe what she had heard. She was speechless. Her parents and her sister never told her about a twin sister of hers being stillborn. She had been told that she had been the only one in her mother's womb. She stood up and faced her sister and narrowed her eyes.

"You lied to me for years then. I always thought you would be honest to me and you failed to uphold your honesty! You need lesson about honesty from Applejack!" Sweetie Belle said with a very sour tone in her voice. Rarity started to sob.

"Sweetie Belle....I'm so sorry! You were to young at the time to know so I lied! I had to lie! I knew that I would have to tell you some day and that day had been today! Please I had to do it to avoid scaring you!" Rarity explained. Sweetie Belle got very angry at Rarity.

"So that's what all this is to you! Alls you care about is avoiding scaring me?! My twin sister died Rarity!! You have no right to say that!" Sweetie Belle screamed. Rarity was very upset and depressed. She wished she could have forgotten the stillbirth but in the end it has come back to haunt her.

"I'm sorry Sweetie Belle! I didn't know what to say at the time so I kept it a secret for a few years. Trust me I wish your twin sister had lived but unfortunately life can be a bit cruel okay? I never meant to lie to you. I was going to tell you when the time was right. I wasn't going to keep the secret from you forever but I was going to wait till you were old enough!" Rarity begged. Sweetie Belle sighed as she looked at the floor.

"It's alright Rarity. I'm just upset that she didn't get to live her life. I understand the reason why you guys kept it a secret from me. I'm not mad at you. I'm just...upset." Sweetie Belle said as she sighed. Rarity held out her arms and Sweetie Belle hugged Rarity.

"Oh Sweetie Belle I understand your sadness. A child lost its life as soon as it gained it. I was upset about it for a few months once I found out about it and it seems to me that I will be upset over for a few weeks once again." Rarity said. Sweetie Belle.

"I'm sorry about that. I guess I should of just minded my own business and not have bring it up." Sweetie Belle remarked but Rarity shook her head.

"No. It's okay. You had a right to know. I'll be honest with you from now on. I hope your not mad at me." Rarity said. Sweetie Belle shook her head as she pulled away from the hug.

"I'm not mad at you now no. I understand that some things happen for reasons that we can't know about and when they do happen we sometimes are unable to do anything about it and just have to accept the fact that they have happened. Thanks for explaining it to me." Sweetie Belle said. Rarity smiled and kissed Sweetie Belle's forehead. Rarity saw a few tears to escape from Sweetie Belle's eyes so she got a tissue and wiped Sweetie Belle's tears away.

"Your welcome Sweetie Belle. I hope you will feel better about it now. And if you don't then I understand but I do want you to know that however your twin sister died your going to see her in heaven. You'll finally meet your other sister!" Rarity said. Sweetie Belle continued crying while she dried her tears off so Rarity just held and comforted her.

Soon Sweetie a Belle stopped crying so Rarity let her go and stood up.

"Are you feeling better now darling?" Rarity asked. Sweetie Belle nodded.

"Yes I am starting to feel better about it. I'm glad you were open and honest with me about it. All's I need is some ice cream and a nice chat from my big sister that will completely make me happy again." Sweetie Belle said. Rarity stood up.

"Let's go get some ice cream then. What flavor do you want?" Rarity asked.

"Chocolate. Sweetie Belle said as they started walking to the kitchen.

"One chocolate coming up." Rarity said. Rarity led Sweetie Belle out to the kitchen and Rarity made her a chocolate ice cream cone and Sweetie Belle ate it. After Sweetie Belle ate her ice cream she hung out with her sister as she stopped being sad over her sister. Rarity was glad that Sweetie Belle was able to move on with her life after finding out the truth.
