Chapters Sweetie Belle woke up, and immediately wish she hadn’t.
It's not that she was late for school. In fact, she often rose out of bed quite early. There weren’t even any tests scheduled for today that she should be worried about. The sight awaiting her however was enough to ruin her morning. She hoped she was still dreaming but as Sweetie rubbed her eyes and deftly swished her curly mauve hair out of her face the source of her dismay remained in view.
Three dresses hung from her closet door, their elegant beauty shining agonizingly bright in the dim light of her bedroom.
“Great…” Sweetie grumbled, tossing her blankets aside and trudging over to her bedroom mirror. The pale, skinny girl in the mirror balefully traced her eyes over Sweetie Belle and sighed. The dresses WERE fabulous, as could be expected of a talented fashionista. No doubt Rarity had prepared them last night in anticipation of school picture day near the end of the month. They were delicate, fabulous, sexy, and slightly revealing without being trashy. Truly appropriate clothes for a yearbook photo. The problem was that she would be wearing one of them.
Despite being in her late teens Sweeties body hadn’t quite gotten the puberty boost she’d expected. Every year she was waiting for the day her immature little body would begin its transformation into adulthood. With another small sigh, Sweetie pulled up the hem of her shirt and eyed the mirror mournfully.
Her bottle green eyes traced the cute, round curvature of her adorable girlish face, to her sad, undeveloped chest that didn’t even necessitate a training bra. Further down her soft, slightly pudgy tummy sat nestled between her less than ample hips. At five-foot two she was barely taller than she was at 10 years old, and certainly shaped the same. Her legs weren’t stick thin, but they weren’t shapely either. Her arms were skinny limp noodles… and the sad excuse for a rump nestled below her tail belied all hints of maturity.
With the speed of a sad turtle, she undressed, the child sized nightshirt falling next to the hamper by her closet. Sweetie Belle swished her long, fluffy tail and laid out her clothes for the day. Her wardrobe had changed little over the years, despite her sisters repeated offerings to create new custom clothes just for her. A lot of her clothes were as immature as her body. Sweetie had just expected to one day outgrow her old digs and then would accept Rarity's offer to craft some fitting outfits… however, that day never came, and Sweetie could sense that her older sister felt burned by the repeated rejections to create new clothes.
Last year Sweetie had seven outfits to choose from.
“Morning mom, morning dad,” Sweetie Belle descended from the stairs morosely.
“Morning, sugar!” Her father bellowed, walking over and bending down to give his daughter a kiss on the forehead.
“Honey! Cheek! You’re going to poke your eye out on our daughters horn!” scolded wife.
Magnum laughed. “It's not that big, don’t worry!”
A scowl briefly crawled across Sweeties face. “I’ll see you after school, dad, thanks.”
“Ok Sweetie! Have a great day!” Magnum tousled Sweeties hair and marched out the door to work.
The kitchen table was well spread with a variety of healthy looking breakfast items. Bagels, croissants, several kinds of cream cheeses and a pot of tea. A lovingly arranged vase of flowers sat crowned in the middle of the breakfast spread like a tower above a small town. Everything was a little too nice.
“Is Rarity still here?” asked Sweetie Belle, taking a seat.
“In the bathroom, Sweetie,” replied her mother, buttering a poppy seed bagel. “She’s putting on her face.”
“I’m right here darling,” a svelte voice sang out behind her. Sweetie Belle swiveled in her chair as Rarity sauntered into the room.
Tall, sexy, curvy, buxom and naturally beautiful, Rarity typically stood at a lofty five-foot nine, however she had donned 3-inch heels and stood at an imposing six-foot tall. There wasn’t a day gone by the fashionista wasn’t strapped into something that made her taller. The wardrobe she had on was business casual, but with those DD-cup breasts straining the fabric it was more business-sexy, and the black pencil skirt did wonders to accentuate those long, firm legs and plump thighs and rear. It was hard to believe that Rarity never got into modeling.
“Ohhh you look marvelous today, Rarity!” beamed mother, her proud smile a million bucks. “What’s the occasion?”
“I have a business meeting scheduled with a stallion today about a potential swimsuit line,” Rarity pulled a seat next to Sweetie Belle and began daintily adding cream cheese to a slice of whole wheat toast. “If everything goes swimmingly with Hard Bargain I SHOULD have a full swimwear line in time for April. I have several prototype suits in my purse as well, they’re quite lovely and very striking if I do say so myself.”
“Thats fantastic! Can we see them?” asked mother in between bites.
I do apologize mother, but I have them already neatly packed and organized in ascending order of intricacy and I do not have the time to spare,” Rarity's horn flared to life and floated the patterned purse over to the table, clearly packed with garments.
“Okay, I understand.”
“However… I am wearing my second most striking bikini underneath my clothes right now.
Sweetie swallowed her last bit of bagel. “I thought your bra was looking too bright for the shirt you were wearing.”
“Indeed Sweetie. I hope you weren't thinking I was sneaking away this morning with such an obvious fashion faux pas,” Rarity swiftly unbuttoned her conservative white shirt and thrusted her chest out proudly. Her plump, sexy breasts were lovingly cupped by a thin, lacy bright red bikini band that clearly had some kind of embroidered texture in a lighter red diamond pattern that caught the light and accentuated the curve of her milky white titflesh. Inches of cleavage jutted out and wobbled enticingly for any and all to see. It was tantalizing, eye-catching, and absolutely irresistible.
“Wow…. that’s amazing Rarity!” Sweetie Belle exclaimed, her voice cracking.
“Oh my! Rarity that's one of the most beautiful bikini tops I’ve ever seen!,” gushed mother, as Rarity buttoned herself back up. “The material you picked is wonderful! So pretty! And much better than my one piece suits!”
“Thank you, thank you!” Rarity smiled happily. “I’m certain Mr. Bargain will drop dead at the sight of my prototypes.”
“Dearie, you modeled all these yourself?” asked mother.
“Of course, over the past two weeks. It’s why you haven't seen me here for breakfast. I intend to do quite a bit more if these first runs garner approval.
“Well, I think you should have your little sister help you model these outfits to save you some time!”
Rarities light, airy laugh filled the room. “Oh, sorry,” she coughed into her fist, “You were serious about that.”
“Rarity,” said her mother sternly. But Sweetie Belle had already gotten up from the table and was heading out the door, her face burning in embarrassment as Rarity explained that this fashion line was marketed to women… and not little girls.
One tortuous school day later and Sweetie Belle was exiting class in relief. It had been another arduous seven hours of feeling small and inadequate amongst her peers. The slight from her sister had stung her all day and the misery accompanying it was only amplified by her classmates, all of her whom were taller than her. Gym class today had been most agonizing with the jogging they had to do and it was the last period of the day too. Her legs were still sore from the workout and she had lagged far behind her friends. Sweetie bent down to massage her sore calves.
“Hey Sweetie Belle!” a pair of voices chorused.
Sweetie glanced up and smiled weakly. “Hiya Scoots, Applebloom.”
Sweeties two best friends were standing right in front of her with slight smiles on their faces. Neither of them had changed out of their gym clothes yet. Part of the reason she’d left was them. For the past few years she’d watched them grow and blossom into attractive adults while her own body physically stunted. Scootaloo had grown to a staggering five-foot eleven with perky C cup breasts and towered over Sweetie Belle. The many years of training with Rainbow Dash had earned her a lithe, sexy body that was rippling with strong, sinewy muscles (and 14” biceps as she liked to often brag and display like her idol). Applebloom was neither as tall or athletic, standing at a five-foot seven with a much curvier, pear-shaped body and strong legs. Paired with her D-cup breasts and powerful thighs it was like she were twice as wide in the hips as Sweetie was.
“Where didja go right after the bell rang? Y’never split class so early!’ Applebloom exclaimed, sidling next to Sweetie.
“Yeah! And you didn’t even like, wave or look at us either,” Scootaloo plopped down to the right of Sweetie and squatted on the bench, her amazing legs bulging with muscle. “What gives?”
Sweetie Belle leaned back on the bench and shut her eyes. “I’m just tired girls, I wanted to get home so I could get off them and rest.”
Scootaloo considered that for the briefest moment. “Bull!”
“C’mon Sweetie, what’s really goin’ on? I barely see ya like, all DAY and every time I did…” Applebloom bit her lip, glancing to Scootaloo who nodded once. “Ya looked like ya were about to cry.”
Sweetie Belle grimaced and exhaled deeply. “Fiiiine. It’s picture day soon and I’m upset OKAY!”
“Well uh, why’s that for?” Applebloom pulled at the hem of her T-Shirt. “Shoot, I don’t ‘member y’all being cross the last couple years.”
There wasn’t any wiggling out of this situation. Trapped and tired, Sweetie spilled it. She told her friends how she was upset at how puberty never came thru for her, how inadequate she felt around her sister, and the rest of the girls at school, and how the slight insult she dealt with in the morning ruined her mood for the day.
“And to top it all off, I just KNOW there’s nothing happening for me in the future too!” Sweetie wiped the slight tears from the corners of her eyes. “I’m too old now. I’m not growing anymore than I am now and I know it, even though my doctor says there's still a chance,” Sweetie sniffled. “I know it’s a lie to make me not feel as bad, but it just does.”
“You’re beautiful the way you are right now!” Scootaloo leaned over and squeezed Sweetie Belle in a big, strongl hug. “Besides! You’re not a doctor! Maybe things are just going to happen late for you!”
“Scootaloo's right, y’all got to not be upset over this, girl!” Applebloom leaned over and joined in on the group hug, squeezing just as tight.
“I just look like a little kid,” Sweetie muttered out. She had been slouching and her face was literally being mashed with her friends’ big soft breasts. She wished she could just crawl into a hole and die.
The group hug finally ended and the girls offered up some more kind words of encouragement before walking down the dirt road to their homes. Sweetie Belle half-listened and mostly nodded and smiled as if she were in a fog. Her heart was still stewing with emotion as she waved goodbye to them. Maybe some sweets at Sugarcube Corner would make her feel better….
“Come again, Sweetie! And be sure to keep that frown upside down!”
Sweetie Belle giggled and waved Pinkie Pie goodbye. Despite not being a filly anymore the bubbly pink mare always had a bouncy fun demeanor that could cheer anypony up. Sweetie gripped the ice cream cone tightly with her fingers and decided to take the scenic route home. Right now she felt a little better and didn't want to just resign herself to laying in bed all day.
Turning a corner she spotted a scaly purple tail disappearing into the woods to the right down the path. Just for a split-second, but definitely saw it.
“Spike?”
Sweetie Belle chomped the last bit of her ice cream and lightly jogged over-
Bumping right into the dragon.
“Oof!” Sweetie stumbled backwards and landed hard on her tail.
“Sorry! I guess I didn’t see you!” Spike bent down and lifted Sweetie Belle back to her feet so easily she might as well have weighed nothing. “Are you alright?” he asked.
Sweetie brushed at a small dirt smear on her blouse. “I’m okay… what are you doing?”
“I’m on a secret mission,” Spike grinned, revealing a small wagon full of books. “Don’t let ANYONE know.”
“Sure thing Spike,” she smirked up at him. Despite the drake being practically the same age as her, he was still technically a kid. A strapping, six-foot tall kid, but one nonetheless. Years from now he’d be a proper teen and who knows how different.
“Well?” he said expectantly.
“Well what?” replied Sweetie.
“Aren’t you going to ask me what my secret mission is?”
Sweetie giggled. “Then it wouldn’t be secret anymore.”
Spike thought about that for a moment.
“True. But I know you can keep a secret, so I’m going to tell you what I’m up to!” Spike said, reaching down into the wagon to pull out a random book.
“I’m getting rid of these books without Twilight knowing!”
Sweetie Belle gasped. “Really? Won’t she be so mad?! Twilight loves her books!”
“Which is a total problem because then there's too much of them,” he grumbled, tossing her the thin novel in his hands. “These are all reprinted, duplicated, yellowed, damaged fiction novels that have NO value at all and are just taking up space in the library.”
“Oh….” Sweetie thumbed through the slim book and dropped it back in the wagon. “How come Twilight won’t just get rid of them if they’re junk books?”
Spike rolled his eyes. “Twilights kind of a…. book hoarder . I don’t think she physically can bring herself to do something like that. Or ask me to directly.” He paused to pull the wagon further into the woods, motioning for Sweetie to come with. “Even after, ngh, arguing with her and explaining that she should devote shelfspace to new books she actually needs space for I couldn't get HER to do it.”
Sweetie Belle followed Spike down the small trail, careful to avoid stepping on any rocks. “That sounds like Twilight all right.”
After a few more feet they finally made it to a small clearing where a small pit had been clawed out in the middle. Spike started to toss the books into the pit as fast as he could.
“What's the rush?” asked Sweetie Belle, who wasn’t that interested in touching the mouldy old books.
“No rush I just, ugh,” Spike stopped for a second to clutch his stomach. “I had like, 3 huge cups of soda at the Hayburger an hour ago and I want to finish this and get to a bathroom.”
“Just use a tree,” suggested Sweetie Belle, walking over to the wagon.
Spike grimaced. “I don’t really want to. We’re in the forest and I don’t want to like, whizz on a sleeping monster or something.”
“Alright, lemme help,” Sweetie Belle’s horn lit up and she began floating books over to the pile one at a time. They were almost done when her eyes caught a hefty moss-green hardcover book that Spike had just tossed into the air.
“What's that one?” Sweetie asked, snatching it with her magic and floating it over to her.
Spike inhaled deeply and spit a stream of fire onto the pile. The books burst into flame and immediately began cooking. “That’s a copy of a secret cursed spellbook I found once… it’s uh, like, really cursed. That's why I’m burning it.”
“How’s it cursed?” Sweetie held the book in her hands and eyed it. The design on the front was intricate and eye catching, and it felt nice to hold it.
“It’s like, I let Rarity use it and like, it kind of made her mad with power and stuff and like… its bad just throw it in the fire I’ll explain in a minute!” Spike ran into the dense foliage at the edge of the clearing with his claws fumbling at his belt.
“Power...?” Sweeties eyes lit up, her thumb tracing a small circle on the books cover. Sweetie Belle looked at the burning pile of ashen pages, then back to the book, then to the fire again.
“Alright Spike, I’m tossing it into the fire!” Sweetie Belle called out into the treeline, then stuffed the spellbook into her knapsack and turned tail towards home. If Rarity had used it and was still fine what harm could there be in taking a look?
Back in her bedroom Sweetie Belle was sprawled out on the comforter with the book wide open on the pillow. She flipped through it with interest, legs idly kicking in the air as she did.
“These are weird,” she muttered to herself, occasionally spying a oddly titled spell name or visual interpretation of an arcane ritual circle. Some of these spells were very dated and needed multiple unicorns to cast too. Sweetie skipped all of the magic that had extra requirements or seemed too difficult.
“Ooh here we go!” Sweetie stopped at a crude illustration of a very tall adult mare next to an average sized smaller mare. A height indicator was next to them, although the numerics were faded. The larger mare was more than two heads taller. “No circles, no rituals. Solo cast! Perfect !”
Sweetie Belle traced her index finger along the words near the bottom of the text. “The spell hereto written may be executed at any time within the regular duration of Lunar and Solar cycles, discounting partial or total eclipse of either body. This particular magical weave self-casts upon verbal proclamation. Alteration of the spell renders said magic inert and useless as said incantation draws, consumes and proliferates the energy triggered via the Sin of Envy, infused with Lust. No other Sin(s) may substitute.”
Sweetie Belle felt a shudder creep up her spine.
Heart’s Desire, Burning Sleep,” began Sweetie Belle, reading the next line. A sickly green light began filling the black text, “Take All Hate, Emotion Cheap… Ascend Thyself With The Jealous Wicked, Goad All Fools, The Weak Strick-ed.”
The magic lettering flowed up to the tip of Sweetie’s horn, traveling down the spiral fluting all the way to the base, where it disappeared inside of her skull. It felt really nice. Like she’d just had a nice massage at the top of her head. Sweetie Belle sat up and inspected her body for any changes. Not seeing anything she shrugged and pulled herself under the covers. Simmering energy settled within her and perhaps tomorrow she would wake up a new mare.
It was school picture day and the hall was abuzz with laughter and chatter. A long line of students stood waiting for their turn to sit down and have their photograph taken. Every student was dressed to impress: nice suits, beautiful dresses, makeup and wonderfully prepared hair. Applebloom and Scootaloo, both wearing frilled, colorful clothes and looking drop-dead gorgeous. They waved to Sweetie Belle from their spot in the line.
Sweetie waved back with a weak smile and faced forwards in line. It had been three weeks since she’d cast the spell with no results. Day after day Sweetie jumped out of bed to check herself against her bedroom wall for any sign of increased height. Nothing showed for it. She was still the same five-foot two scrawny girl she’d always been. She didn’t understand why. Jealousy over her classmates, sister and friends had been a daily feeling for years and now the spell she cast didn’t recognize how she felt? What a scam.
She should have thrown the book into the fire.
“Next!” cried out the sharp haughty voice of Photo Finish. Silver Spoon finished her photo and joined Diamond Tiara by the side. Sweetie Belle stepped up to the penultimate spot.
“Ready for the final Yearbook photo of your life?” teased Silver, smirking at Sweetie Belle. “I don’t know why you bother. There’s three perfectly good photos to re-use before this one.”
“Buzz offff,” Sweetie gritted her teeth. “I look great in this dress.”
“The dress looks great because your sister made it,” corrected Diamond Tiara, playing with the extravagant necklace that settled deep into her cleavage. “You wearing it doesn’t do it any favors. Maybe if it was hugging the body of a mare who wasn’t built like a nine-year old it would do you any favors.”
“Next!” cried Photo Finish, the seat ready.
The two taller mares laughed and walked away, their hooves clicking on the tiled floor as they confidently strayed to the refreshments table. Sweetie Belle silently fumed at the two perfect jerks. They didn’t deserve to be that tall, that busty, to have such nice rumps filling out-
“NEXT!” said Photo Finish insistently. Sweetie Belle marched over and sat down in front of the camera, grabbing a bouquet prop of red roses to hold in her hand.
“Hey Sweetie! How’d it go?”
Twist took a seat next to Sweetie Belle. The petite unicorn had stormed to the back of the cafeteria to be alone for a few minutes. She had such a foul look on her face that Photo Finish rejected all 3 takes for her yearbook photo. In a month she would be able to reshoot it and get into the yearbook. It didn’t help at all that Photo Finish was incredibly loud and direct about it either. Everyone heard the fashion mogul screech out her disappointment.
“It went like garbage,” Sweetie Belle muttered, playing with the straw in her drink. “I couldn’t even get a nice photo.”
“Aww, I’m sorry to hear that,” Twist patted her on the back. “Y’know, for the past couple years I never had a good photo either because of my braces. This is the first year I had a good one!”
Sweetie Belle sighed, looking over the redhead. She was always an ugly duckling but the past year had really done work to improve herself. No more braces, contacts instead of glasses, wearing nicer clothes; it was a wonder how a bunch of little things coming together could make such a market improvement.
“It was really nice to finally have that good one. Every year I’d take one and be so unhappy,” Twist prattled on, playing with her frizzy hair.
“Uh-huh,” Sweetie propped up her head with her shoulder, staring glumly as Scootaloo sat down in the picture chair to take her photo.
“And every year I’d be sitting down thinking how jealous I am of everyone else. Especially you in your dresses.”
A tingle of magic buzzed across Sweetie’s horn and she perked up.
“Say what now?” Sweetie Belle said with interest.
“Oh you know… I’m a little jealous of you is all,” Twist continued. “You’ve got the most perfect fluffy curled hair and I’ve got this frizzy mess… and when your sister makes you a dress she goes all out! You look so beautiful in this! I look just okay… and this is just me but I wish I had your face too. I’ve got such chubby cheeks.”
Sweetie Belle’s breath hitched, feeling the magic at the base of her horn sizzle and flow through her body.
“Anyway. It was nice chatting with you! Shady just finished his picture so I’ll talk to you later!” Twist said cheerfully, standing up and heading towards the well-dressed stallion. Sweetie abruptly got up to and raced to the ladies room. Scootaloo and Applebloom slowed their walk towards her and looked at each other in confusion.
The door behind her clanged as Sweetie magically latched it shut. The sensations running through her body right now was nothing short of ecstasy. It was like her clothes were shrinking, but Sweetie knew it must be otherwise. She was growing. Expanding her perfectly fitting outfit.
The training bra she had on was already tight, and getting tighter. Sweetie ran to the mirror with glee. Her reflection revealed it all: her once flat chest was filling the dress. At the front where there was only but a subtle divide was now the outlines of actual breasts and the beginnings of a womanly bosom. Her arms felt equally parts sore and electric as the lengthened imperceptibly. Her legs stretched in size. Soon her matchstick thin legs had filled out and padded with fat and muscle alike, and her hips creaked and widened. For the first time in Sweetie Belle’s young life she had a FIGURE to speak of.
As her body buzzed in the sensation of growth Sweetie did a little dance in glee. The spell wasn’t a dud!
The day after Sweetie Belle was on airs. Beneath her slightly stretched T-shirt she proudly wore a 32 B-Cup bra. It was a day she never thought would come when she could graduate to a regular bra like all the other mares her age. The shorts she had on hugged her rump nicer than ever before. Prior to picture day she barely had a rump to speak of! Measuring her height once she ran home revealed a growth of four whole inches. She was only an inch shorter than Applebloom!
While still not much to speak of it was a marked improvement over how she looked before. Now that Sweetie figured out the proper way to trigger the spell she could correctly utilize it to achieve the figure she wanted. The image of herself, tall, busty, and heads taller than Princess Celestia popped into her head and Sweetie began skipping down the road. Her ultimate fantasy could be realized and all she need to do was seek out the catalysts.
Sweetie turned the corner to and entered Sugary Sweets Snack Shop. The bell dinged cheerfully.
“Just a minute!” a voice rang out from the back.
As Sweetie Belle placed a few chocolate dipped candy canes on the counter to purchase the mare whose voice belonged emerged from behind a curtain of beads.
“Oh! Hello Sweetie Belle! You’re looking great!” said Twist, immediately noticing the changes. “I think we’re the same height!”
Sweetie Belle practically beamed. “I think so too! It took forever but I think I’m finally in the middle of my growth spurt!”
“That’s a really late one!” mused Twist, ringing up the candy. “You’re so lucky! I wish I could get a boost in height at my age like you. It’s so lame still being shorter than your parents. I feel like a little kid still!”
The tingling in her horn began again. Sweetie Belle shakily dug four bits out of her tightening pocket. “Oh yes! I’m fitting in all my clothes so much better now! And some of them not so well!”
Sweetie Belle inhaled as the growth continued. The hem of her T-shirt popped out of her shorts where they’d been tucked in, revealing her flat, smooth belly. The sleeves tightened around her arms as previously small muscles began to swell under her coat. The arousal she felt when it happened last time also increased and Sweetie felt a sticky heat budding in her loins.
By the time the cash register dinged open Sweetie Belle had sprouted another two inches taller. She thanked the wide-eyed Twist and merrily skipped outside. Next stop was Sweet Apple Acres.
The warm sun filtered through the orchard trees as the Apple family picked their way through the northern fields. It was a decent harvest for these particular apples as they were typically difficult to cultivate and more often than not produced little to sell. The ones that did sold at a higher price and were considered a luxury flavor both raw and in baked foods. Applebloom was at the very tip of the orchard sitting on a tree branch, tossing apples into a wooden bucket far below her. She wasn’t very good aiming those fruits however. About a dozen loose apples were scattered around the area.
“Applebloom! I made it!” cried Sweetie Belle, arriving below with a grin on her face. “Sorry for being late! Had to stop for a snack.”
“That’s fine!” Applebloom yelled down. “We got plenty of apples to work with. Can y’all grab the ones I missed and toss them into the barrel?”
“Sure!” Sweetie Belle flared her horn and grabbed every apple she could see with her magic, dumping them into the wooden holder. “Where’s Scoots?”
“West of here. She wanted to do see if she could get more apples than me under an hour so ah said okay and now we’re jus’ picking apples I guess,” Applebloom dropped three apples down for Sweetie to catch. “You’re gonna have to go check to see her bucket once the hours up so let’s get pickin!”
For the next fifty minutes the two mares engaged in normal conversation: talking about school, work, boys, clothes and what they were doing later. Despite the spell being on her mind for the beginning of the conversation Sweetie realized she wasn’t going to get any kind of envious fuel into her and just had a nice talk. It was refreshing and kind of fun doing this menial task. Halfway through she stopped using magic and carted the barrel around physically, surprising both herself and Applebloom at her strength.
“Y’all should be exhausted doing that,” Applebloom said, jumping over to the last tree. She hadn’t touched the ground during her apple picking. “Gotta say ah would have been plum-tuckered out by now.”
Sweetie Belle wheezed, wiping her forehead with her arm. “Yeah… but like… it’s not so bad?”

“So where is her new place anyhow?” Scootaloo asked, watching as Applebloom pulled out the letter Sweetie had written them a few days ago.
“Y’all are asking the wrong pony,” Applebloom scoured the letter. “That’s strange, ah don’t see the address on here. It just says she misses us and we’re invited to come visit with the time and date.”
Scootaloo facepalmed. “Tell me you didn’t throw out the envelope that would HAVE her address on it.”
Applebloom blinked and chuckled nervously. “Ehehe... Uhhh.”
“Seriously?!”
“Well sorry !” Applebloom shrugged. “It’s not like ah completely forgot though! She lives on Equestrian Way!”
“That totally leaves out the building and room number!” Scootaloo said, swiveling her head around to look for landmarks. “Who knows how big this street is anyway! For all we know it could bisect the whole city!”
Applebloom took a few steps forwards and sighed, looking around. She froze at the sight of a large billboard.
“Well, if Sweetie’s gotten this big already,” Applebloom motioned for Scootaloo to come over, pointing up. “I’m sure somepony is gonna know where we could find her.”
Erected proudly over a huge, flat-top building was an enormous billboard depicting Sweetie Belle laying on her side in a very seductive pose with a bouquet of red roses clenched between her teeth. She was wearing a very risque red dress and staring at the viewer with seductive bottle-green eyes. The text in the bottom left corner read ‘FIRENZIA’ with a smaller shot of pantiehose and red lingerie.
“Wow,” they gawked up at the billboard. A camera flash went off next to them capping the advertisement as well.
“Does she look like… strong to you?” Scootaloo said softly. “Like the last time I actually saw her she looked fit but like… I heard she was super buff.”
“Kinda,” Applebloom commented, noting the one arm of Sweetie’s that was visible in the ad. “Ah heard the same thing but only really saw her face in the Ponyville Press. And that wasn’t even a good photo.”
“I heard she was naked outside Canterlot Boutique,” Scootaloo said, noticing other smaller advertisements around her now.
A nearby magazine rack had a stack of new unopened fashion magazines, tightly bound with string, laying on the ground. Sweetie Belle’s face creased the cover with the tagline ‘Big and Beautiful’ across the bottom.
“She’s really hit it big that’s for sure,” commented Applebloom, looking around as she and Scootaloo walked down the street. They hadn’t noticed it at first but Sweetie was everywhere around them. A radio sitting atop a milk crate enthusiastically announced an exclusive interview with Sweetie tonight at ten.
One large skyscraper on the corner had spotlights being installed at the entrance. A stallion was roping up bouquets of flowers and sticking them on a cart usually reserved for luggage. Four buff stallions stood at the entrance to the building chatting amongst themselves.
“I bet she’s up there,” Scootaloo said, craning up to look.
“What makes you think so?” asked Applebloom pensively.
“Besides all the hubbub down here and the small herd of Pegasi with cameras up there,” Scootaloo pointed into the air. There looked like a bunch of indistinct pony shapes way up there but it was too far to make out.
“Can’t see ‘em.” said Applebloom.
“I can see them,” Scootaloo said, the eagle eye Pegasus straining her eyes. “All of them with cameras. C’mon, let’s go inside.”
Not two steps into the luxurious lobby a beefy stallion in a suit had stopped them in their tracks.
“I don’t see your resident pass,” he said gruffly, eying them through dark sunglasses. “What business do you two have here?”
“We’re here to visit out friend, Sweetie Belle,” said Scootaloo. “She invited us!”
“Miss Belle is not seeing fans today,” the stallion continued tersely. “I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”
“Hold on!” A small mauve stallion waved a large piece of parchment from behind the tellers desk. “Those two can go up. Let them through, Chump Change, I have their appointment and matching descriptions here from Sweetie Belle.”
Applebloom and Scootaloo waved back and shot Chump Change a look.
“Apologies. I had instructions and those were for privacy today,” the big stallion stepped aside. Scootaloo harrumphed and strode to the elevator with Applebloom right beside her.

The dial above the steel doors ticked off the floors one by one on its way up. It was a big, old, elevator with polished brass furnishings, red cushiony seats and dimly lit gold buttons. Everything about this place screamed money.

“If she’s got digs like this ah can only assume,” Applebloom studied her mirrored reflection in the brass elevator walls. “You saw her outside practically everywhere which means she’s famous. Getting money usually follows that.

The door opened and a quartet of fancily dressed stallions chattering amongst themselves. They stopped their discussion at the sight of the two mares and quietly piled inside. Applebloom and Scootaloo sidled out of the way into the dimly lit hallway. As the the doors closed behind them she realized it was one with Sweetie Belle’s face on the cover.
“Is this the penthouse?” asked Applebloom, looking around in confusion.
“It has to be. This is the floor with her cutie mark next to the button,” Scootaloo said confidently, looking around. “It looks like there’s been a lot of construction and stuff done here.”
There were large slats of wood and carpet rolled off to their left in front of what looked like a freight elevator. Piles of nails, construction tools and boards littered the ground to their right. The air held a faint smell of sawdust.
It was also quite warm.
“Think ah understand why them stallions all looked so sweaty,” commented Applebloom, wiping her forehead where sweat was already starting to bead. “It’s really stuffy up here.”
“Tell me about it,” Scootaloo pulled at her collar. “I guess the windows are shut to keep out those snooping pegasi.
They walked down the hallway that was opposite the elevator. It was long and dimly lit. The temperature only increased as they ventured forth. Applebloom opened up both buttons on her collared shirt just for any room to breathe.
Finally the pair met some double doors with a large shield emblazoned on the front. A few paint buckets and brushes were off to the side on a small cart with wheels. Cautiously, the two pushed against the door and stepped inside.
“Whoa…” they gasped.
The room was huge! It looked like multiple floors were ripped out to increase the ceiling height all the way up to the penthouse. There were small frosted barely lit sconces to the left and right dotting the walls similar to a theater. Large metal fans in the corners of the room were swiveling with a dull whine and circulating the hot air. It was like stepping into a gigantic sauna.
“Ah feel like I’m outside on a hot summer day,” Applebloom balked. She could feel herself actively sweating now.
“Tell me about it,” Scootaloo said, extending her wings. “I feel like I just finished a marathon…”
“Is she here? It’s really dark,” continued Scootaloo, gazing around the dimly lit room. Aside from the rim-light from the blocked off windows the only light source was the small wall lamps. “HELLO!? SWEETIE BELLE!”
A bright green light erupted from above in the far side of the room.
“OH! Sorry girls! Didn’t hear you come in!” boomed a familiar, albeit deeper voice.
The previously poorly lit sconces flared green and then erupted with warm yellow light. In seconds the practically pitch black room was fully illuminated and the two mares winced from the change in brightness. After their eyes adjusted they got a better look at the room.
It was lightly furnished with a large, empty space in the middle. The large drawer next to it had a chestnut colored brassiere dangling from the knob. Next to that was what looked like a miniature water tower with a huge brushed steel bucket next to it.
The left side of the room was sparsely decorated and obviously still under construction. There were three giant silver containers with a magical cooling unit attached as well. Droplets of water condensation were dripping onto the floor right below it.
And at the far wall, reclining on a gigantic plush purple cushion was Sweetie Belle.
“I’m glad you made it! It’s so nice to see you girls again!” she said, her arm propping up her head.

And that's the end! I hope you enjoyed Envy is Magic! One of my favorite aspects of growth stories is when the trigger is unique and that's how this fic was started conceptually. Feeling envious is the worst feeling, and causing it feels great. It'd be a bit too easy to have the trigger work the way Sweetie Belle first expected it, and I really enjoyed writing the dialogue and scenes where she's goading others.
