Chapter Fifteen: The Sharp Edge of the Unexpected
(Canterlot Castle) (Royal Guard Interrogation Rooms) Jack's PoV
Honestly, have you guys ever heard that the first needle of a flu shot hurts the most? Or maybe the first breakup you go through, or maybe it's the first bite of a popsicle.
Well in this case it's a sharp knife to the neck.
I'm just saying... I mean... Where the hell did this mare even come from? And for a pony she is very willing to murder someone. I'm in guard custody so why would she need to try and kill me?
Mare Do Well raced so fast that the crowd of ponies couldn't register her movement, but I could! She also seemed to be equipped with magic defying horse shoes as unbelievable as that sounds. Because she was able to shatter the window of the interrogation room, and it's protected with an reinforced enchantment glass! Which the princesses likely designed for me.
If I didn't dodge last second her knife would've lodged itself inside my head, and I'd be dead! If I could even call it a knife it's practically a machete! Where the hell did she even hide it in her costume? Uh, I just feel pissed off... My neck feels like it's on fire right now, and I'm surprised I'm not dead.
Anyways back to the present time.
"Justice has been served." Mare Do Well said looking me in the face with the knife lodged inside my throat.
Everyone just watched in shock, and disbelief of what this mare had done. I cant really blame them, Mare Do Well's incredible physical ability took me by surprise as well. But there's one thing they don't know about me though. Let's see how she reacts to this!
"First, when you try to kill someone you should make sure you succeed" I said with my voice slightly gurgling with blood.
Everyone's eyes widened in an instant including Mare Do Well's, and she backed away in the blink of an eye. I slowly get up to ensure that the knife doesn't cut any deeper. And causing everyone in the room to wince I slowly pull the sharp object by the blade out of my neck.
"Second, always study your enemy before taking action." I said.
I quickly take light moveable armor located on my neck off, and show the ponies my second ability. It was healing at an incredible speed! I almost forgot I had the healing factor in my power, and what a time to be reminded! After a few seconds of guards and others gawking at my fatal injury healing in a matter of moments I place the armor back onto my neck.
"What are you?" Twilight asked with dinner plate eyes.
I smile widely and even though they couldn't see it, they knew that I was beaming. I slowly step forward towards the costumed vigilante, and she slowly steps back. I give off a slow maniacal laugh that's just dripping with insanity, but impressively Mare Do Well's resolve only seems to harden as she holds the humongous knife in her... Magic.
She's a unicorn?
Now that I notice it I could see a slight blue highlight from under her hat, I guess that's something I should keep in mind for later on. Come to think of it this may be an advantage for me! It means she'll be fragile to my attacks since I'm likely much stronger than her in the category of magic, and I highly doubt she can defeat me physical-
But my thoughts were cut off as I realized I was practically standing there thinking about this for a few minutes like a big idiot. And I soon realized the consequence of my error when she once again charged straight at me once again, and this time she took my advice and aimed for the heart. But thankfully I found myself instantly catching the weapon and holding it in my grip for all to see. Mare Do Well still had it in her magic grip, and was currently trying to pull it out.
I kind of feel bad for her to be honest, she's so determined to kill me. And the fact that she has the gall to do it? It's rather impressive really.
"You have a strong will, but..." I drawled on.
I would just rip her spine out of her body, but that may be a little too brutal would it? Mare Do Well's eyes slightly narrowed in anger and annoyance at her terrible decision making. But hey! Who would expect that a fatal wound through the neck would heal just like that?
"Not strong enough!" I shouted loudly.
Unexpectedly I burst forward and grabbed Mare Do Well by the throat. I didn't know if she was a main character of the show in disguise, but I'll take that risk. My hand tightened around the concealed neck of Mare Do Well, I was planning on snapping her neck in half. But she surprised me!
Mare Do Well suddenly pulled out what looked like a silver ninja star with a rubber material on the hoof handles. Whoever this pony is... She's a professional Assassin judging because these kinds of weapons were only used by contract killers in Equestria's history. As soon as she drew the weapon she immediately stabbed my arm, but what I didn't expect was for the star to give off a electrical shock giving me a sharp sting.
It honestly felt like I was shot in the arm, and this is me were talking about! I gave off a surprised yelp of pain and I instantly dropped her giving her a chance to leap back and get into a combat position. These ponies are always so beautifully nimble, and I love it!
"So, I'm to guess you're not a run of the mill pony are you?" I asked curiously.
She simply stood there without uttering a word of response. Geez she really is like Batman, but a batman that actually has the willingness to kill. What was his name again? Oh right! Owlman!
"It's become clear to me that you've been trained as a professional killer. You have custom made weapons and specialized equipment, color me impressed." I said with a dark edge.
"Would you shut up? I'm not hear to speak with you, so just stay still and let me end this." Mare Do Well said with annoyance.
She had multiple ninja stars drawn out of her cloak, and like a professional she tossed every single shuriken aimed for a few essential components on my body. Specifically my head, heart, neck, knees, and my groin. Okay, I don't need that image in my mind. I raised my hand and conjured a shield powerful enough to block the large amount of sharp objects headed towards me.
The main threat was dealt with, but it turns out I fell for the oldest trick in the book. The ninja stars then glowed a bright red hue and seemed to heat up.
THEY'RE EXPLOSIVES!
"SIR GET BACK!" Carter shouted with a surprisingly loud voice.
In a fit of panic I pushed the red shield forward saving my life. The stars exploded leaving a cloud of smoke and dust in it's wake. When the cloud dissipated Mare Do Well was nowhere to be found.
"What the hay?" Rainbow Dash shouted instantly.
My eyes dart all over the room trying to locate the blue and black cloak or cape of the familiar vigilante. I begin to panic and I tap into a puppet ability. This time it's Deadshot, and a pistol forms in my hand and I point it upwards.
"A game of cat and mouse hmmm? Well I'm willing to play." I said with interest.
The sound of a loud explosion rang through the room. My eyes are instantly caught on with the large hole in the wall. It lead to the outside, and apparently we're in a tower because it's a multiple kilometer drop. Out of the blue I feel something tackle me from behind, and something was also attached to me.
Looking behind me was Mare Do Well latched onto my back, and a blue explosive was attached onto my shoulder.
"Fire in the hole." She said with what looked like a cocky smile.
Damn... I respect her even more now.
The explosive went off and threw me and Mare Do Well out of the hole. This is actually pretty terrifying. Because we're both falling down a far drop, and she's delivering a swift punch me in the face every single second. Left and Right, Left and Right, and it was pretty annoying. But my mind snaps back to a single realization, and I look to my hand to see the red and black pistol in my grip.
With quick thinking I point the end of the gun at the chest of the mare and pull the trigger.
BANG!
Mare Do Well screamed in agony at the likely burning pain in her chest, and she seemed to fall unconscious. I push her off me, and I quickly look down to see the rapidly approaching ground. I instantly dispel the weapon and brace for impact, and I honestly am not sure if I can survive this one. Looking up I see the ponies looking down at me with shock, and their jaws were practically hitting the floor.
"This one's gonna hurt." I said bracing for impact.
My body then hits the ground, and everything goes black.
(Tartarus) (Psychiatric Ward) Five hours later
"Look at me, Look AT ME!" Shouted a inmate.
"What am I? WHAT AM I?!" Shouted another.
"I KNOW THAT! I KNOW THAT." Screamed another.
"Everyone quiet down! It's lights out!" Shouted a minotaur guard.
Tartarus is a prison yes, but it also serves as an asylum of sorts. Insane criminals from the past, insane immortals, and demons of different varieties are placed here to try and cure themselves. But yet, none of them want to be here. Every night you can hear the screams of loonies crying out in insanity.
"Warden, there's a new inmate coming in." A guard asked Warden Collana.
She's a minotaur that's two times taller than the average one, and has combat capabilities beyond most. She fought in almost three different wars in her homeland Minoton. It's impressive that someone can live through such hardened times, but she went through horrible times. And she has only strengthened.
"As if we needed another. Can I see the papers?" The aged minotaur asked with narrowed eyes.
The guard handed over the clipboard and she read it carefully.
