Balanced as Everything Should Be
Chapter Eighteen: Heart of Glass

Okay I have had enough of this island's wildlife already!
"Alright, you're clear to go. Welcome back Ma'am." Said the front gate guard. He seems cheerful.
The intimidating gates slowly opened, giving a slight screeching noise from the rotation. They are pretty standard, painted black with sharp edges at the top to deter anyone who would dare try to climb over the fence. It also seemed to be giving off a slight spark of electricity, if they're going to add a small shock to the gate they might as well try to hide it! I mean, sure earth's technology is better, and I'm a little biased because of that. Could they could at least be a little subtle when it comes to security?
I swear if the toilets electrocute me I will not be pleased!
The carriage rocked to life once again, and proceeded to enter through the gates. There is a massive space in front of the asylum and behind the gates for carriages to pass by, but right now it seems deserted. Aw, just for me Hot Ass? I'm flattered really.
We stop nearby the massive castle like front doors to the building. They seem rather reminiscent to the doors of Canterlot castle, but they seemed to be reinforced with multiple ancient defense runes. From the book I've read there are two fire resistant runes, rejuvenation runes, and a durability runes. That single door can probably go through world war two and come back completely intact.
Warden Collana and Dr. Heartburn step out of their seats, the guards immediately step by their sides. They're really jumpy, it's too bad that I cant mind read people. If I were to, I'd just find out the entire prison schematics from their memory. This entire operation would be over in an instant!
No, no things take time. Just be patient!
"Paranoid aren't you?" I said with a slight bit of cockiness.
Maybe being filled with overconfidence is a serious weakness, but I might as well enjoy it while I can. The two guards glared at me but didn't bother to say anything, likely because they were trained to do that. Do you know how the Royal Guards from Britain have to stand still and not say anything? Due to that regular citizens would always do pranks on them.
I always wanted to try it, they are just doing their jobs. But, hell why not!
We have some time to kill before they open the gates. There are six defense runes on the gates, and they'll have to remove them one by one. Four are green and two are red. The first rune slowly went down, it looked very dramatic, like it was some kind of water made of green sparks.
It took about 5 seconds for it to completely dispel, meaning I have thirty seconds for jokes!
"So, do you two ever read porno mags whenever your boss isn't looking?" I asked with a smile.
The second rune is down! The guards tried to keep a stone face, but the guard beside Dr. Heartburn had a slight eye twitch. Baby steps Jack, baby steps.
"Come on I know you do." I suggested giving him a little shoulder rub.
The third rune is down, and everyone suddenly felt quite a lot of discomfort. Perfect day isn't it? I should probably stop before things get really bad. I'd rather not have my cause of death being stabbed in prison, so stopping is the best option...
…
"You probably scope Collana's rack."
Everyone instantly burst into an extreme blush, and I literally had to keep in my laughter. Those two guards do seem pretty young, so I'm sure it's understandable for them to be so... attracted. They're trying to resist looking over her right now! Don't make it disgustingly obvious you two!
"Don't worry, I understand." I said with a slight chuckle.
I gave him a slight pat on the back as a friendly gesture, but due to the inhibitor cuffs I had to use both hands. Unfortunately, due to the stress I'm feeling, and the surge of energy from my own personal horrible humor I accidently send him flying across the pavement.
Everyone just stares at the unconscious bleeding body in front of them. They just seem blank eyed, and their blushes disappeared in an instant. The sound of alarms go off after a few moments, for some strange reason I just stand there without saying anything either.
So much for keeping a low profile.
(Haven Mental Institute) (Intensive Confinement Wing)
"Welcome to your knew home, you'll be staying here for a few days. Or at least until the warden says you're safe enough to be around other crimin- patients." The guard corrected while locking the door.
He almost said criminals.
Outside they were free to call us villains, inmates, and criminals. But in here they can only refer to us as patients? I know this is a place for loonies like me, but at least I'm a little more stable than others. Sure I'm an insane psychopath but at least I keep my insanity to a minimum.
My new room is actually not what I expected. I thought that I'd be placed in a solid white room like how their displayed in most fiction, and sometimes in real life. The room actually looks somewhat like a hotel! There's a bed, a bathroom with a shower, a dresser, carpet floors, and a painting of Princess Luna lowering the moon.
Is it that they want us to teach ourselves how to live a normal life? How stupid can they be?
I walk over to the shower and test if it actually has water, and as if it was music to my ears. I hear the sound of running water, thank god I thought I would be forced to shower with other people. It's not that I hate showering with others, it's just that if I want to shower I would have to show my face to others,
That's not happening.
Speaking of taking a shower, I haven't bathed or showered since I was last at HQ. Which I'm guessing was a few days ago at least, so I should probably wash myself before I begin to smell. The shower is a glass sliding door, I could just showed it using a magically induced cloud. But using magic in a place like this would be a bad idea. I'll just cover the bathroom doorway with the dresser.
I walked over to the large dresser and picked it up with carefully. I'm still on edge so my strength is all over the place, so I should be really caref-
Unfortunately, to my worries I underestimated the power in my fingers and smashed the dresser against the ceiling. Silently cursing myself I decide to just take my chances and take a shower without protection, the mist given off from the water's heat should protect my real face if a guard were to enter the room.
Did I mention the actual door was glass too? It's as if Celestia wants me to suffer, actually I am a villain so it is somewhat reasonable.
First the armor plates I hid inside my cloak, I installed those shortly after I set up HQ. I may be strong, but I need to be extremely careful and vigilant. Next my regular robe and pants, boots, and extra accessories. Now the hard part, my mask.
The last time I took it off I almost had a heart attack, and it felt like I was going to die.
Maybe if I just be extremely careful I'll be alright, absolute precision Jack, absolute precision.
My hands carefully guide themselves to the guard straps on the back of my head, and carefully undo them. Normally the cloak's hood keeps them hidden, so no one truly knows how to take it off except for me. Unless they have X-ray vision which I seriously doubt.
After multiple agonizing minutes I finally undid them all, and all was left holding it my face was my hand being held against the surface by instinct. I continually question why I feel so self conscious about I or anyone else seeing my actual face. What's so bad about it? It's just a completely normal and human.
It's fine, I'm fine.
…
…
..
Right?
Finally breaking away from my stupor I gain the mental state to take off my mask. I didn't turn around because I knew that there was a mirror behind me.
The mask is off.
My breathing quickens and I'm forced to get on one knee and close my eyes. The good thing is that I don't feel as much pain as last time. All I need to do is to avoid the mirror and take my shower in peace, the mirror will fog up so I don't need to worry about that for long.
Gaining my composure I gracefully walk over to the shower, and start the water. It took a while to get that perfect blend between the heat of the sun and the cold of Siberia, but I never give up do I? During the shower I feel all my stiff limbs start to relax, and I can breath normally again.
Without my mask on everything seems so much clearer, and it'd likely be a little more healthy to keep it off more often. But with other people constantly seeing me it would be a death sentence. Maybe I should change the mask color, and create new one. Preferably without the voice recorder, it seems somewhat bland to me now.
I have the tech and intelligence to create it, and I wonder how the League will react. I'm not really sure what it should look like though.
I look down to my bare hands, I know it has only been a month, but why does it feel so foreign to not be wearing so much light armor? I've never felt better being the Puppet Master, yet I keep questioning myself. Everyone around me sees me as one of the most menacing villains in history, likely just because I lasted the longest.
Every single super villain from Equestria's history has only lasted a week because of their own stupidity, cockiness, or just plain cowardice. I guess there's the possibility that some of them are really innocent people that were framed, but I could be wrong at the same time.
I'm in Tartarus!
To a regular human on earth it's practically saying that you're imprisoned in hell while you're still alive. This place doesn't seem as bad as I thought it would be, or I could just be exaggerating. Most people from this world knows only sunshine, rainbows, and luxury. At least I understand humility, they should try it.
After a good thirty minute shower to clean every nook and cranny I turn off the water. Sure enough the mirror is shrouded, so I should be safe. There are towels on the shelves nearby, so I quickly grab them and dry myself. My clothes are next, armor secured, and my mask.
Before I could fully lock on my mask, the mirror had cleared itself over, and I almost saw my own face. Luckily, I had reacted.
A powerful fist collided with the reflective surface and was shattered into pieces, the wall slightly shook but that doesn't matter. Crisis averted right!
Exiting the bathroom I come back to the main room, I feel refreshed. I should rest for tomorrow, the bed never felt so enticing before. Walking over to the bed I just plop down, and lay down on my back.
I stare up at the ceiling, and just continually think about my adventures so far. I feel my eyes closing, but before I go to sleep there's something I wanted to do. It's risky to use magic, but I'm sure they wont mind.
My mind reaches into my personal vault, and I take a peculiar item out. The Superman pendant, the usual talkative message repeats itself. It feels so boring to hear it again, it makes what I plan to do even better.
I know what you're thinking. He's going to summon him! Isn't that a bad idea, he's a villain, and that other displaced is a hero. That's the point, and what I'm doing is for the greater good.
The pressure on the object tightens to extreme levels, and the token begins to crack. Light seeps through the cracks, and after just a few seconds I hear the sound of shattering glass. The remnants of the once valuable artifact remained in my hands, and I just dust it off to the side. I wont be able to use it now!
"I'm sure no one even has time for that stuff anyway." I said peacefully, bringing the hood over my eyes.
Now, to drift off to a restful sleep.
Little did he know, a small silver fox was watching silently in the corner, it took precautions to ensure that it's target wouldn't see it. The strange creature prowls over the sleeping giant, and leaps onto the bed.
It stares into the gradient red surface of the Puppet Master's mask, just staring. Watching him any kind of movement, and only when it was absolutely sure he was asleep... it touched him. To anyone who saw it, they would see it disappear into thin air.
In reality, it had entered into the target's mind.
"We will meet, very soon."
