It was two on the dot, just as scheduled. Ghost was one of the lucky few. He got to see retirement from being a spy in the Equestrian Intelligence Agency. Most end up getting themselves killer or go rogue. Ghost, stayed true to his passion, which was helping others using a particular set of skills he acquired (bonus points if you know the movie this is from). He started making his way through town, many memories flooding back to him. Some good, some not so good. Unlike some parts of the military, being a spy requires almost a lack of a good childhood. This Ghost had, no parents, lived on the street and grew up fighting and kicking his way out of the lowest of the lows. One of several reasons he was given the nickname Ghost. Second reason which was the primary, no cutie mark. None, nothing. He was a beyond gifted fighter in all forms. Brilliant mind when it came to battles. Seeing things that others would miss. He pondered some of the best memories he had, they were always when Rainbow Dash was in town. Usually for sports back in school. Which he was quite competitive back in the day. He unfortunately fell out of contact with the cyan mare after he got transferred to the Intelligence division. Last he knew of her she was heading to the Crystal Empire to deal with some evil king or something like that. He wished he could have been there, that sounded like a good time. But no, he had to play lookout on some bitter cold mountain at the time. He will admit that he is quite well adapted to the cold now, but he hated every second of freezing conditions day and night. Those days are over. Before he could actually truly get into town something came out of the sky and just pounded right into him. Laying them both out. Ghost was curious and partially angered at whoever hit him like that. It was rude to not say "Excuse me." Of which he did not hear this pony say to him. When he sat up and looked, low and behold it was the cyan mare herself. Deciding to play with her a bit as payback for getting his coat all dirty, "Well, Rainbow Crash, as I live and breathe you still haven't figured out how to bank yet?" He was smirking. He knew she HATED being called Crash. But this is what she gets for being rude and ruining his black coat. Dash was partially out of it after hitting what felt like a rock. She didn't think a pony could be so dense in muscle and bone. Whoever this is, she definitely wanted to know what their exercised routine was. But hearing that voice, and that dreaded school nickname. She knew immediately who it was. She was angry and happy at the same time. First happiness then unleash a little anger for the name. "OHMYGOSH It's you!" Without even thinking she went and hugged him. Which surprised both of them. Dash couldn't believe herself. First thing she does is hug? Since when!? Well, she did just push him two feet into the ground first, so this may be a bit justifiable. "Jumping straight to feel my guns? I thought you would have waited till after the first date." Ghost remarked, again, toying with his old friend, though he returned her hug. Softer than he remembered, though this time she wasn't a sweaty mess. Or has it really been that long since he's actually been around her? Either way, they ended up enjoying this hug a little more than they probably should have. "Why did you ruin this moment for me?" Dash was a bit soft spoken in this question which threw Ghost off a bit, he expected a growl or some retort from her. But this was a ruse so she could try to get a smack in on his face. But it failed. Ghost caught her hoof easily and was just holding it. His speed and reflexes were sharper than the last time they had met. Dash now blushed a tad, being defeated easily and she knew he was going to rub it in somehow. But this time, Ghost left it be. "Can't believe that I finally get to see my best friend again." Ghost remarked softly as he gently released her hoof. Dash was stunned, this was a side that she almost never saw in Ghost. Sincere, no jokes, no tricks or angles. Just saying what he felt. "I..I would be lying if I said I didn't miss having you around." Dash could remember the handful of times Ghost was there for her when she needed support. Loyal till death. When those colts that picked on her by calling her Crash, Ghost would jump in between her and them and protect her. This was during a very small amount of time when Dash wasn't stuck up or egotistic. He got them to back off for a time. But now, no one would dare mess with him based on how buff, gruff and rough he looks. "Well, I am back and sticking around for a while. Why don't we meet up later and talk about all the adventures we've been on while away and catch up a bit?" Ghost was genuinely excited to restart his friendship with Dash, since she hinted that she actually missed him. Though based on the tone of voice, she seemed to have maybe feelings for him that she may have kept hidden? Possibly, maybe. "That would be a great idea, what time?" Dash now sparkling with energy like her old self. Catching up with one of the best stallions she ever knew. Uh oh, here come the unintentional stares, right at the pecs Ghost had. Strong, though they looked almost soft too. Is that a scar? More than one? Dash quickly realized she got off on a gaze and snapped out of it. Luckily Ghost didn't notice her quick eye twitch from his chest to his face again. "I'll finish unpacking get cleaned up, let's say meet at town center at six and head out to dinner?" Lucky for Dash, it was confirmed that Ghost was pondering a good time, one with margarine for unexpected to happen. Them crimson eyes could melt ice bridges. If only they were with him in the frigid cold mountains. Maybe he could have at least seen some green. Ghost snapped out of his trance way quicker than Dash did. Though he only never left eye contact with her, so it appeared he heard her with full attention. But nope. "Okay, see you then!" Dash was super stoked to catch up. She rocketed up into the sky and headed back to her house. She running at light speed and though this was normal for her, she realized she was getting ahead of herself and plus she treating the whole thing like she had to leave in two minutes or she would be late. She had like three hours to get ready. Slowing down a little won't hurt anything. She took a deep breath and took a seat on her bed. Why was she so over excited. Yes, it has been years since she had seen, let alone be with Ghost. But how could that lead to an almost first date with the high school rush reaction? No way she could have fallen for him at first glance. Did she fall for him before he deported? She was the only one he ever wrote too during his time away. Though he didn't really have anyone back home that he was friends with outside of Dash that didn't end up doing something similar to him. Some of his pals ended up in the Guard. Before Dash knew it, time had passed enough that it was time to get ready to meet up with Ghost. So she did just that. Gone in a flash, just like normal for an excited Dash, Ghost chuckled as his old friend took off in a streak of rainbow. He wasted no time in getting into town. He picked up the key to his apartment, he wasn't going to stay here. But finding an already decent house in Ponyville wasn't the easiest thing to do. Plus the government already paid for the first two months of rent for him to settle in and get situated. So he wasn't in a real rush to move out. He unpacked what few items he had and hopped a shower. Restoring his coat to it's more desirable state. He put on his cloak that he acquired from a target he tangled with a few years back, it suddenly needed a new owner, and well Ghost knew the stallion that owned it would want him to have it. So he took it and cleaned it up. It was long and hooded, Ghost loved it. It fit his personality very well. Though he usually wore the hood up over his head as well as had it buttoned up, he decided to just wear it loosely. Not like he needed to show off his mysterious side or be in a fight, hopefully. First day back and he ends up in a fight would not go well with him. At least wait till day two. With that he headed off. Ghost was at city hall exactly ten minutes earlier. Right on the dot ten minutes earlier. Ghost had time beat into him in basic training and it never left. It only became more of a habit. He didn't mind. It was preferred to be punctual in his mind. He didn't see Dash at all, which was okay, so he went and read the bulletin board to see what news was up. There was an ad for the Flim Flam brothers new miracle product. "Pass. Sorry boys, but I know that is a hoax." It was something about some pill that increased strength. Probably just a sugar pill or something like that. A couple town events in the later part of the month but nothing overly impressing. Right after that, he could hear a pegasus land behind him. There was Dash, she done her mane to one side and had it looked longer, but of course it would when not a fuzzy mess. "Looking good." He was honest, which surprised Dash, but then again, he probably didn't want her to try and kick his teeth. "Thanks....you look good too." She couldn't believe she was complimenting him like they were dating. But she couldn't help at well groomed he looked. His coat black enough to absorb any light source that tried to shine on it. That's new, scars on his chest. He didn't have those last she saw of him. He never mentioned them in the letters either. Besides being overly strong for an unicorn (so weird saying that, but rules are the rules) he also had mystery scars on him. Besides the point, this was a dinner to catch up on over lost years, not admire strength and scars. Though maybe just a little. With that they started walking to the restaurant. During the walk, Dash couldn't help but notice how Ghost held himself, pride, powerful, though humble. He didn't flaunt himself, but he wasn't ashamed to show the world that he was....a stud. Was he doing it on purpose as some sort of flirting tactic on her? Or was she just falling for something he did as normal? Wait, she was falling for him? She realized she started to blush from him just walking, walking. Something so normal. Why was it something she couldn't stop watching? Ghost was just minding his own business, in his mind. Thinking about what to eat. He's been in so many cultures and got into diets that would probably weird others out. It was part of the mission at the time, plus he did have to look native, so avoiding certain foods would send red flags. Though something smacked him mentally and he just barely caught a glance that Dash was blushing and watching him. Did his cloak fall off? Nope. He wasn't walking in any unusual way. Weird, what has her mind all caught up on ? Was it his muscle? Clearly she's been around other stallions that were toned, why would he be different enough to get this? Though she wasn't a cow either. Oh if she could hear his thoughts she would have thrown something his way just then. Toned in the right places and still all the desirability that a stallion would look for in a mare. Though this wasn't Ghost's first go to in a relationship. Throughout school he would only date those who had a good personality on them. Though nothing ever stuck, nothing ever went south either. Even after they broke up they would chat and some would even ask Ghost about who thought they would like to go out with and Ghost was honest with them. Some were jerks, some not so much. Dash he already knew well, she was hard headed to a point, but soft once you got past that hard shell. Her looks, her personality, all things Ghost would not have a problem with. Oh hey look, they arrived, who would have guessed. Ghost and Dash broke out of their own trances when they both almost tripped on the steps to the front door. Luckily no one saw it. It was a small place with low traffic, but Ghost remembered it for having good food. It was almost like he took a step back in time. This place had not changed one bit. They were seated and served water. Ghost skimmed the menu and found an item he knew he would like. Dash was a bit longer deciding, she rarely came here and some of the foods she wasn't familiar with. But she was quick on getting a choice made and closing the menu up. Ghost was first to speak, "I'm very glad I get to be back home. Instead of remembering what this town was like. And to see you again." Dash blushed when he said the last bit. Though mostly due to her own emotions, she knew he meant as a friend, but couldn't help herself. "I...I really missed you. I know I said that before, but it's true. You were, are my best friend." Dash was speaking softly. The words she spoke were hard to admit, let alone confess. She probably would never be able to confess how she feels to her other friends. Simply because she would be way too embarrassed to show how soft she can be. Though she can let this side out around Ghost, why? Was it because he wouldn't assume she is soft? Or was it because he could so easily maintain his alpha posturing? He still has it, he's a natural tough guy. Always been and even more so now. "Dash, are you okay? You haven't quite been the same since I got back." Ghost was speaking softly as well, though mostly to not draw attention. He was a bit curious what was really going on with her. She was behaving weird and it was kind of weird to him. It wasn't that time of the month so it's not like that her body was the one thinking. Though it still may be talking. Enough of that. "I...I don't know. I can't help but admire you. But, you did leave me very concerned when you suddenly stopped writing. I always looked forward to the letters, and they stopped coming. Why did you leave me?" This was too soft, but she beyond the point of return now. Though Ghost was never aware of how deeply her thoughts of him went, she genuinely had a deep care about him. Even if it wasn't the romantic kind, it was deeper than just friends. "Dash, I...I never knew how deeply you felt. I sincerely apologize for stopping. But my job got way more complicated and way harder. Plus it got more dangerous to write back home. One of the biggest reasons I stopped was to protect you from any harm my job could have delivered. I didn't want anything bad to happen to you." This was shocking to Ghost. To hear the words Dash spoke. It was almost like there was a different pony in front of him. Ghost felt really bad for putting her through all that. It was very sudden that he just stopped and without reason. All the thoughts that Dash to fight off. All of them not very pleasant to digest. He could partially relate. He had comrades drop off the grid for a while and thoughts he had to fight with almost daily was tough. "You...Really did it to protect me? You cared that much? You know what I've been through, trying to believe that you weren't dead. I almost started to believe you did." Dash tried to stop herself from crying, but she did lose partially. She started to tear up, but the one thing that caught her off guard, Ghost immediately wiped them away. "You aren't going to lose me again. Promise." He said softly. Dash knew one thing, if Ghost promised something, he kept it unless something prevented him from being able to fulfill it. Whatever it was, it had to be big, because he would fight to keep them. Dash couldn't stop herself, she immediately clung to him tightly. She didn't want him to go, not now, not ever. Though holy cow was ever soft. Like a big cozy teddy bear with muscle. This alone made her want to continue to hold onto him, she didn't care who saw this. She wanted it and was going to have her moment. Plus, she knew Ghost would have her back if anything undesirable would try to surface from it. She was very happy when she felt him hug her back. Feeling his muscles hold her, comforting and protecting her from the world. She wanted this. "As much as I would hate to say this, we should probably return to our seats." Ghost whispered softly to her. Dash wanted to say something snarky, but she knew he was right and she could always be snarky later. She scooted off of him and took a deep breath to calm herself. Just in time too as the waiter came to take their order. A young mare with a bigger than life smile, obviously high school or early college age. They both order and she takes their menus. After she leaves Dash leans into Ghost's ear "Thank you." If that wasn't a surprise enough she then kissed his cheek. What sorcery is this? What curse was Dash under that made her this way? Ghost had no answers, though he knew something in her changed sometime between him leaving and coming back. Though he couldn't complain. The new Dash he is seeing is quite nice. Though all Ghost could do was smile back at her. He had no words for her. But seeing him smile was good enough for her. The rest of the evening went well. They managed to catch up on most of what happened in the meantime. Her fascination with Daring Do. Joining the Wonderbolts, Discord turning into a friend of Shy. This part was hard to comprehend even for Ghost. He knew of Shy and her tendencies. That didn't make sense. Chaos and the shyest pony in the world. All well, they found a way to make it work. Talking about Sombra and his attempt to retake the throne. Starlight and all that. "I missed out on some true fun." Ghost said in a chuckle. "I would disagree." Dash replied a bit softly, gesturing to his scars. She mostly returned to her usual self, though she couldn't seem to stay away from Ghost for any amount of distance. Though now, she wasn't afraid to admit it or do something about it. Ghost almost forgot he had scars showing. "Oh, those. Their nothing. Just having fun on the job." Ghost said with a grin and a wink. "Though I have way more than what is just on my chest. They go way lower. The chest is as high as any of those that gave them to me would go. Each one has their own story." Ghost pointed to the worst of the ones on the chest, it was a deep scar and had a golf ball sized part in the middle of it, "Got this sucker from a group that really knew how to have fun in the East. Thick accent too. Could barely understand his English. Though the mares were nicer. Always calling me 'Meester Ghost' whenever they were talking to me." Dash was about to be jealous, but obviously nothing stuck over there, plus they were probably just being nice and polite. "Wow. You really knew how to roll with the punches didn't you." She saw him get clobbered several times real good and just get up like it was nothing. This was taking it to a new level. Being cut up like this on more than one occasion, it surprised her, and she now knew just what he meant by why he stopped sending letters. Who knows what she would have had to endure if they got her. "Should have seen the other guy." He smiled a bit, this was to ensure to Dash that he did have his in return. Though he wasn't going to share the details. Even if he could be quiet, that story was a little out of place to say in a public place. Though now they both were full and done with dinner. The mare returned to collect the bill and pick up the dishes. Her smile was gone though. "What's wrong darling?" Ghost asked her softly. "I'm fine. Just not every customer is nice that comes in is all. I shouldn't let it get to me, but it does sometimes." She replied, a little saddened but trying to turn it around. "Here, take this tip, you are young, beautiful and have a long big life in front of you. Plus you have a good head on you, trying to not take the hurt to heart and move past it." He hands her a small bag of bits. Which was more than his and Dash's meal and way too generous for a tip. "I also would like to know who this is that is causing problems." Ghost wasn't going to start a fight, but he was going to set the record straight. But he didn't need an answer on who was giving her a hard time. "Where is that slut at? I want my drink!" Of course. Drunk and an idiot. Two completely great combinations. "Thank you so much for this tip. But please, don't cause problems if you can help it." She pleaded a little. She knew Ghost likely wouldn't get kicked out or banned if this guest starts something, but she didn't want to be the cause of trouble either. Dash was in support of Ghost, she didn't like the way this young stallion was conducting himself. Ghost got up and walked over to this colt. But before Ghost spoke, the young stallion spoke first, "Oh, is this the stallion that you would rather seduce? Instead of giving me what I want?" Ghost was seriously not going to take anything he had. Not like it would be a fight to begin with. It would be him swinging, Ghost countering and putting this boy in his place. "When I was your age, I wouldn't be caught dead speaking to a mare like that. What makes you think that you can talk to a server like this?" Ghost was keeping his calm. He was going to let this colt get himself barred. He was just going to speak his mind. Dash was right behind Ghost eyeing the two of them. She was kind of hoping this clown would do something that would result in Ghost doing something. Seeing how he has improved his fighting would be the greatest highlight of this day (Even though Ghost would rather not as I stated earlier). "I can say and do what I want, this is a free country right? Back off before I teach you a lesson about rubbing your nose in a place it doesn't belong." Ghost was getting bored more than angry at this point. Same old, same old. He dealt with this in high school several times. Though he wasn't phased at the "threat" that made at him. "Oh please, you are just a drunk boy about two minutes from getting kicked out from this place and barred for life for harassing this young mare and threatening another customer who simply just wants you to shut up." Ghost wasn't even going to put the effort in to deal with this punk. That was till he got raged and threw a fast one at Ghost. Ghost didn't move to miss or block the punch. He took the punch, right in the left cheek. Not even blinked at it. At this point the young stallion realized that he had done it. "You couldn't even hit like a mare. You should be ashamed of yourself. But you can worry about that after you get out of the jail." The manager was present during last half but seeing how Ghost was keeping his cool and simply trying to get the stallion to behave or leave he left them alone. But not without calling the guard about this who just arrived after Ghost finished his statement to the lad. They walked in, "What is going on?" The manager points to the drunk, "This stallion is drunk and just struck one of our patrons who was asking him to stop his behavior." They look at Ghost and Dash, "True?" Ghost nodded, then the guards collected the stallion and took him off to jail. One of them asked Ghost, "Pressing charges?" To which Ghost nodded no. The thought of going to jail for more than being drunk hopefully sobers this lad up. The guard then leaves and Ghost starts to head out of the building too with Dash before they hear the manager. "My waitress said you just tipped her a large sum, why?" "World is full of jerks like that stallion. He was getting to her, despite her best efforts to block him out of her mind and ignore his insulting tones at her. She needs a highlight of today that outweighs what that fool did. Giving her some money and complimenting her on being the better pony was the least I could do. Going to the stallion, that was personal. I didn't like the sound of his voice ruining my evening." Ghost said, calmly and smiled at the young mare who was smiling again. Once again hearing him being nice. "Thank you." The young mare said. "Yes, thank you. You are very welcome to come back and I will pass it on that you and your date get free meals here from now on. The world needs more like you. Those not afraid to stand up and do the right thing." The manager added on top of that, "Have a good evening you two." "Thank you sir, but I can't accept free food. Please don't try to argue the point." Ghost replied. The manager nodded and they went back to running the store. Ghost and Dash went outside where Dash kissed his cheek again. "Okay, that was awesome." Dash was very impressed with the way Ghost handled himself. She knew his younger self would have pounded him a good few times for striking. But he didn't even flinch from it, nor give it back. His self-restraint was his most attractive moment. She also couldn't help but lean on him some, to feel his soft and warmth again. "Thanks." Ghost smiled a little, seeing Dash happy was something that brightened his day ten times more. Though he did let her lean on him. It just felt right, not sure why, but it did. Plus she was very soft and warm. Warmer than he thought she would be. Perhaps it was the heat of the moment? From the stallion irritating both her and Ghost. "Could...could I spend the night with you...." Dash whispered softly to him. She almost didn't finish, but she pressured through. She didn't want this night to end with them splitting off. She wasn't really looking for much more than just being with Ghost more. The look in her eye wasn't that of bedroom eyes. Ghost knew the difference and she lacked that look and her behavior wasn't hinting at it either. Her body posture wasn't trying to impress him either. "Yes." He whispered back. "Though my place is quite baron, since I still haven't fully moved in, so don't set the expectations high." It was true. He only had a few things of clothing, a handful of weapons he was allowed to take back with him and that was pretty much it. Nothing much. "I don't care. I know you aren't big on having a bunch of stuff in your place." Dash knew Ghost was not one for personal stuff outside of essentials. Though didn't help he didn't have of a house growing up. But that was in the past, and she was more focused on the future. What in the world is she going to do with him? She wasn't quite comfortable with the idea of letting herself be taken by him. Not yet anyway, plus she knew he knew she wasn't interested, so no worries there. Cuddle? Just cuddle? That may get old after a short while. All well. Going to have to just wing it. Though it was not very long before Dash found herself pretty much throwing her weight against Ghost's side as they walked. Luckily it was mostly dark out by this point so no one was out and those that were couldn't really see to make out Dash or Ghost. Before long Ghost and Dash were in his apartment and after Ghost threw the cloak on the back of the couch that was already part of the apartment he sat down and Dash sat almost on top of him. She snuggled up against him and sighed happily. "Never knew this side of you existed." Ghost commented softly. He put a hoof around her, a little slower than Dash would have liked. "You thought I wasn't capable of being all soft and lovey?" Dash asked softly. Partially upset at Ghost for doubting, but then again, she didn't think she would be doing this when she plowed into him earlier. So she was no longer upset. Though now, that the cloak is gone and they are completely alone, Ghost feels softer and warmer to her. Plus feeling his muscles was almost enough to make her just melt. "You never really talked about dates or crushes or anything like that when we were in school or when we were writing. Plus we've never been on a date before today either." Ghost replied, before giving her a gentle kiss on the head. Her soft warm body was very enjoyable. Could just be that he has been too busy fighting and running around to actually go on a date. Could be something about Dash herself that just makes her better than what he remembers. Either way, he was not about to trade this moment or let it go to waste. He could also tell that Dash was really calm and relaxed. Slowed heart, slow and steady breathing. This made him happy, she so comfortable with him. Holy crap his lips were soft. Dash was mind blown at that. Though before she could spend too much time on that she thought about what he said. It was true, she never told him about previous lovers. She had them, just never told him about them. Now some embarrassing memories came back. Some good ones, some not very PG ones. Ghost felt different than all of those though. Those all felt more like heat of the moment or just a phase. This feels, right. Genuine, not hiding, not rushed, well it is, but not like they are in a hurry to progress it. Dash now really wanted to make something out of this. No more being just friends, she wanted this to go further. But back to the moment and to the comment Ghost made. "You are right. Huh, I guess I thought I at least mentioned one at some point. So all this time you thought I was just an athlete too hard headed to have a relationship with a stallion?" She was more curious to what he thought about her previous love life than anything. She was the one that never mentioned it to him that she had dated before now. "I always figured you were just waiting for the right one. Though I would be highly surprised if you have never been on at least one date before now." Ghost probably already knew some facts about her without digging into it. Probably gave herself away at least three times to a stallion. At least one was a dare from one of her friends. One was just because he was a stud and she wanted some. The other was a serious relationship that went that far but no further. Though he knew she would not give any stallion a foal until she knew she found the right stallion. He knew she had enough integrity to not be a single mother. Unlike poor Derpy. She graduated with Ghost, but she allowed herself to be taken advantage of and found herself with two miscarriages and a daughter and no supportive stallion. That was just before he was deported. Hopefully things are going well now and her daughter was doing well as well. But that is another day. "You aren't wrong, though in case you are curious, I'm not a virgin." She hated to admit it to him, but she felt better to admit it now than to wait for him to find out later if she was to let it go that far. She buried her face into his chest, partially upset that she did let herself get taken several times before finding the right stallion to settle with. Though it's in the past. Second reason, his chest was just so soft to rest against she couldn't stop herself from doing it. The latter was the driving reason. Though Ghost could tell her truth was bugging her. Upsetting herself over it. "It's in the past, don't beat yourself up. I don't think any less of you for it. Being honest, I'm not either. Some of the times I've done it was for the mission at hand. Others was serious dating, then well, sometimes I'd hit the club to relieve stress." He gently lifted her head up to look at him. She started to cling to him more unconsciously. She was sort of surprised that he wasn't either. But it wasn't a shocker. She felt better. But then the biggest shock happened. Ghost kissed her! Though Dash immediately kissed back. Both enjoying this passionate moment a little more than they probably should have. Although they held this kiss for a few minutes it only felt like a few moments. Dash really wanted it to last longer. It felt really good to share that with him. She felt a lot better too. Ghost was right, don't let the past define her. Let her create a future that will change her past. She happily laid back against his chest. "Thank you, Ghost. I really needed that." "You're welcome." Ghost whispered softly while starting holding her softly. Dash relaxed into him. Giving herself to him as each second passed. Once again getting to feel him comfort her and protect her from everything around her. Though she felt like he was protecting her from her past. She sighed happily and closed her eyes. She felt his calm breath as his chest moved, and his calmed heart beat. It was mesmerizing, something she never noticed before. It was soothing and in a way it told her that she was safe. The world could end tomorrow but she would be fine. Ghost could feel Dash slowly relax into a limp state as she settled down into his grasp. Completely content with where she was. It was probably rare to ever find her in this kind of state. Though before he knew it, she fell asleep. He smiled softly, it was super adorable, and it spoke volumes of what she thought of him. Trust so high, she could sleep peacefully with him. Guess the bed was going to wait till tomorrow. Ghost couldn't convince himself to try to move to the bed and feared he'd wake her, which he didn't want to do. So he just gently laid down and the only thing Dash did was make herself more comfortable on him. Before long they both were fast asleep, despite the fact Dash was snoring now. But spend a few nights in a cave while artillery rains down on top of you and noise is no longer an issue. Author's Note Probably the biggest piece of read you will find. Not even my old one-shot exceeded three thousand words. This is a story I have been planning for a while, and finally decided to put into action. This plus my other story are going to get rotated between. So if you are waiting for chapter two, it is next. Also a huge thanks for the positive feedback on the other story, that encouraged me to do this faster and also try a slight twist on the style that I knew would benefit the story. Morning After, TheGhost woke up the next morning at his usual time of five. Dash was still sleeping like a brick and snoring so Ghost knew he could get up without her being overly bothered by it. He started doing what he normally does every morning, exercise for an hour. Nothing extreme, just push ups and sit ups and some jumping jacks. After this he went off and showered to clean off the sweat. Now it was 6:30, time to cook up breakfast. Though something did pop into his mind as he gently walked past the sleeping pegasus, when did she wake up? She was capable of being lazy and sleeping in late. But since she is working with the Wonderbolts now, is she on a sleep routine? He was going to find out regardless. Ghost didn't have much in his kitchen when it came to food. Yogurt, eggs, bread, bacon (hay of course) and butter. Looks like something rather simple today. Ghost was a jack of all trades, he could fix just about anything, could fight, intelligent, and a half decent cook. So despite being left with a small option he knew he could whip up something. He followed one of his personal rules of cooking, everything is better when made in cast iron and had the eggs and bacon sizzling in no time. He decided to do some buttered toast but give it a little bath time in egg yokes for extra flavor. This he knew would need trial and error with seasoning, which luckily salt and pepper was available. Shortly after he finally got the egg soaked toast right Dash came in groggily. The smell and sound of food was enough to wake her up and draw her to the kitchen. For her she was up an hour earlier than normal. "Good morning, breakfast will be done in a minute. Have a seat." Ghost said chirpily as he flipped the eggs over for the last bit of their session. He liked them over-easy with a pinch of seasoning. So it was super quick to make since the yoke was still mostly in tact when it was done. "Good morning." Dash replied with a yawn. She didn't realize she just replied to Ghost. Then she did. This wasn't her place. And that is Ghost making breakfast. Then she remembered it all. The dinner, the cuddling. Then sleep. She just slept with Ghost. It was a beautiful sleep, but this was going to be hard to explain and she never thought this far last night. Typical Dash always going in head first and not thinking it through all the way to end. But she honestly didn't care when she refocused and saw Ghost again. She then remembered that whatever happened after she left the door, he would be caught up in as well. Any rumors, questions, assumptions, it wasn't just Dash but her and Ghost. He had to be drug down with her in those rumors. Made her feel a little better, since she knew that he was convincing in more than one way. Also his reputation around town from years before would resurface and assist the issues. He wasn't like other stallions. He didn't play around. Though, others may think Dash played him. Which was going to be hard to counter given her past. But she held by her stance from last night, she wanted to pursue him. Besides nothing probably will result from her being at his house. No one even saw them last night together after the restaurant. Dash took a seat before she would forget to do and just be staring blankly at Ghost's fridge. It was quite clean, but not worth staring at. At this time Ghost served up the plates for the two of them. Just enough for both of them and a little leftover in case one of them wanted seconds. Dash looked at the food curiously, never had eggs made like that before. The bacon looked too good to be made by hand. The toast looked good, so she started with that. She did not know it was bathed in egg till the explosion of flavor hit her mouth. She had no clue Ghost was this capable of making food. She wolfed down the rest of the toast and started on the bacon. Everything about was done just right. Cooked the right amount of time, right amount of seasoning, right amount of grease left in it. The egg was the same, that explosion of flavor when the yoke burst and ran onto the plate to be used like a syrup. Ghost in the meantime was eating like it was a normal meal, though, to him, it was quite average. Dash went and grabbed up the seconds that were left and consumed them too. "How did you make this? This was the best thing I ever had." Dash was very impressed with his skills. Something simple, yet flavorful. He could have a job preparing this and it would run other places out of business. Though she figured Ghost heard this before from others. Though she meant it. It was very delicious. "With practice and experimentation. Just like any skill." Ghost shrugs, it was how he got to be good at preparing foods. "Though I do appreciate the compliments. Especially hearing them coming from you." He figured she would be the biggest critic to please when it came to food. Her genuine response to his cooking was appreciated. She may have fibbed to him to make feel better even if his cooking sucked. Her loyalty driving her to that. But she wouldn't have cleaned the plate and got seconds if she didn't like it. Dash blushed with the last comment. She didn't expect him to take extra pride from her compliments, though how could she blame him. They both confessed feelings for each other last night. So it makes perfect sense. Though, still, it made her feel special that he wanted to please her and wants her praise. Though she simply pecked his cheek. Oh she forgot how soft he was to the touch. "I really hope you didn't have any plans today." She said softly, hoping for a no. Which she was quite confident in getting just that. Ghost was a little caught off guard with the kiss. Though he smiled as a result of her being affectionate with him. "No, why?" He knew full well why, just wanted to hear her say it to him. He was happy she was being quite more open with him than before. Before she was too used to having that front up and when she took it down, she was scared that she was going to get hurt. Did she get hurt before during his time away? Not physically, but emotionally buy a previous lover? Betray her trust in some form or fashion? He didn't care too much. Her past wasn't his issue. Her present and future however, he still had influence on. He wasn't about to give her reason to doubt him. "I, uh, well. I want to be with you more. I didn't quite get to enjoy you as much last night as I would have liked." Not something Dash was used to feeling, soft. Though she was comfortable with being soft for Ghost. She liked him, a lot. The more she was honest and open with him, the easier it was to accept her softness, because Ghost made her feel in ways that she didn't feel before and none was a vulnerable softness. She felt soft now, but Ghost was her shell. She could put herself in him and he would be her shield. She wanted to do just that again. Also cuddle, cuddle that soft stud. "That can be done." Ghost smiled, spending more time with Dash was a bonus. Not like he had anything to do immediately anyway. Getting a house was the only thing, but he had two months to track one down, and even then no rush since he didn't need to move out by then. With that he got up and did the dishes right fast and both he and Dash went to the sofa once again. Where Dash immediately laid on him without hesitation. Snuggling into him before sighing happily. Dash was never happier, feeling the warmth of Ghost once again as well as his softness. Let the troubles come, she wasn't going to let this go. None of her previous loves compared to this, which she was a bit ashamed to admit. Some of those colts really tried to be her perfect stallion and never were. Ghost wasn't even doing anything special other than letting her lay on his body. Before she knew it though, she was clung to him, but she didn't want to let go either. Nothing was going to ruin this moment. Nothing at all. But she did want to dive deeper into Ghost's head as he probably did want to do with her. Snuggling was only half of what she wanted to do and it could get boring. "What made you come home?" She asked softly. He still was in his prime, he could have gave another five years easily. "The work was starting to turn stale. It was no longer a career anymore. The stress, the politics. It was overworking me. Plus, I wanted to settle down and start a family before I got to be too old to fully enjoy that too." Ghost replied quite softly. Mostly due to the fact speaking loudly wasn't necessary. He did start really look at her when he got to the family part. This made her blush deeply. He was thinking that she could be the one that settles with him and has a family with him. Though her processing that, she could see it. She kind of really liked the idea of being his mare. "Where do you see yourself in the next few years?" What was this, a job interview? That question Ghost popped on Dash was the best thought provoker he had for her. The best one that could lead to others. Dash really thought about his question. She was happy where she was as a weather mare and Wonderbolt. But where did she want to be in a few years? She couldn't stop thinking of being in a family. Finally settling down with the right stallion and them both raising their own. Anything more? Any other careers? Nothing really came to mind. Just being a part of her own family was all she could think of. "I want to have my own family." She replied softly. She never thought she would utter the words in her lifetime. Yet here she was, admitting she wanted to slow down her life and do something normal, yet unnatural to her personality of being stunts, glory and fast. All that would be on the back burner. Ghost smiled softly as she replied. She wanted something very reasonable, though very hard to get right. Creating a family takes a lot of time, love and energy. He knew she was capable of the love needed and had the energy. Though her time would shrink a ton. Less time being the thrill seeker she is now. Not that she wasn't aware of that already. Though thinking back to the fact she has dated before and admitted to wanting a family. "Ever think any of your previous dates would be the one that you would sail away with?" He was genuinely curious if she ever thought she found the right one before. Obviously she didn't, still single up to this point, though that was probably about to change. His status too. Though he didn't care, be back two days and get asked out by Dash. Nothing wrong with that at all. Well, there are probably other stallions that would disagree with Ghost's stance on that matter. "Two times. Both serious dates. One ended up cheating on me at the end. The other, we started to realize that we weren't going to be compatible long term. So we dissolved. What about you? Did you ever think you found the one?" Dash was sort of hoping he didn't have as many close calls as she did. It was her competitive side, though part of her jealousy for him. The healthy kind. She knew other mares were with him. But how many got to experience him the way she is experiencing him? She didn't like admitting that she wasn't alone in this. But she may very well get what other mares never got. That made her feel a bit better. Though she figured Ghost would admit the same about her. "Three times. Though one, as much as I hate to admit, was a mission relationship. She was quite heart broken over it. So, two real relationships that didn't involve a fake name and lying. Before you ask, we did reconnect later and ended up being friends." If not for that mission, he would be tied with Dash. But wow, he actually never really thought about that. Twice, he almost thought he found the right mare for him. Twice they invested in him only to be let down in the end. Though he was happy that they all ended on a positive note. Unlike Dash where she was betrayed. That had to really suck, you trusted, invested, exposed yourself to only find out it was being thrown away for another. That kind of emotion he couldn't comprehend fully. He would have never wished it on anyone he some caring for. Though he noticed how Dash was with him. Genuinely happy just to be with him. He couldn't picture any other mare looking like this with him. Happy, yes, but there was just something the way he saw Dash that said that she was experiencing something different. He then realized he felt differently around her than other dates. He was happier with Dash. Odd. What made Dash so vastly different from the others? He couldn't think of anything that would have done it other than it was the fact it was Dash. Not like all the celebrity stuff attached to her name. It was everything else. Her emotions, personality, body. The last bit was a bit dirty to think about. Did she feel the same? Was he that much different from all other stallions that he alone was able to create this spark that raised everything? "How different am I from the other stallions of your past?" He asked softly. Oh she dreaded this. One thing to feel it, how to describe it. Plus why did he have to ask her? It made her blush. Another deep confession from her was in order. "Simply, you are vastly different. Leagues different." It wasn't hard to vocalize this part, nor was any of it going to be at this point. It was the words that were going to be the trouble. "I just, feel different when I think of what I feel now when compared to my previous dates. A more intense fire if you will." That was the best she could think of to describe this. Did he feel the same and that is why he asked? Did no other mare spark this in him until now? This gave her a new wave of excitement. She could give something that no one else could give Ghost when it came to how they thought and felt around each other. "You?" She looked up to him to see his reaction as she asked softly. Though she couldn't help but increase her grip on him. She really hoped for a similar answer so she could thoroughly enjoy this moment. Ghost was smiling, he knew she tried to describe the feeling as best she could word. Though couldn't agree more with the delivery of it. Seeing how she was now staring up at him. Those crimson eyes penetrating him, pleading with him to say what she desperately wants to know. "Just as you described it. I feel the same." Before anything else could happen Dash's eyes gleamed with pure happiness and she dove in for a kiss. It took Ghost a split second to react, but he kissed back. Neither made any changes to it, they were too busy enjoying each other to turn up the heat. Though all too often, some good things were never meant to last as long as intended. There was a knock on the door. "Rainbow you in there?" It was the legend, the purple, the newly crowned princess, Twilight. Dash and Ghost broke the kiss and stared at each other in confusion. As well as disappointment. Their perfect moment was ruined. Though to Dash's dismay there was murmuring from the others as well. The whole gang was at the door. Ghost decided to make light of the situation for Dash. "No rainbows here! Rainbows only happen outside after a good rain." Dash smiled softly at his retort, but this wasn't good for her. All the assumptions and rumors that will spill now. Not just on her, but on Ghost. But she couldn't hide from this forever. "How did they know I was here? Also, why are they looking for me? I haven't even done anything to warrant them to be concerned." Dash whispered, though totally freaked out. What her friends going to say finding out she's been all cuddly and soft with a stallion? Sure they would be supportive long term. But it may take them a while to warm up to the idea of her finding a stallion she thought was worth dating. Though her panic didn't last long when Ghost started to rub her back gently. It was soothing. She got her breath and heart back into control then smiled at Ghost. They were in this together, and Ghost's quick action reminded her of that. "We know she is in there. Her magical energy is radiating from this room. She missed the weekly meeting." Of course, every week Twi and friends would have a quick discussion if nothing pressing was going on. Dash couldn't believe she forgot that it was today. She buried her face in her hooves for a moment. She was so caught up with Ghost, that it never occurred to her that this would happen. Also, of course Twilight could use magical aurora as a tracker. Whatever that was. Dash was not very curious in the terminology as Twi always was. Though even if she was to try and sneak off, Twi would tell. "I hope you are ready to face whatever comes after this." Dash whispered softly to Ghost. Hoping he knew exactly what would happen once the world knew that Dash spent the night in a stallions house. Even though Ghost lived in an apartment. Dash was surprised when she felt Ghost wrap his hooves around her and hold her. He knew, he knew full well and was ready to face the bull for her, and with her. Still trying to make light of the situation to help ease Dash, Ghost whispered in her ear, "Is my mane messy? I want to look my prettiest for the camera." It worked, Dash smiled and shook her head before kissing his cheek. "Thank you." She whispered. Dash was a lot calmer now. Thanks to Ghost being fearless and brave, for her, not for himself. She admired him for it. Everything he was doing at this point was for her. She felt him hold her again, she really wished he didn't. Then she remembered they were in this together, and the way she was being held, it was a protective hold. She blushed as she comprehended this. This hold wasn't for the fact her friends would see. It was for what was going to come after. Those rumors, judgments, all the negativity that she was going to get for this. He was shielding her from them, right here, right now. She snuggled into Ghost and closed her eyes, taking this in one last time. That's when she heard what she didn't want to hear, "Come in." With that her world changed yet again. Though Ghost was there for her. Which she really wanted right now. Ghost was fully aware with what was going to happen. Dash had a reputation. One subject to a lot of negativity if she strayed from it. He was going to be subject to a part of this as well. Though he didn't care. He never cared what others thought of him. He made a point for those close to him. Strangers, well, let them think what they want. He wasn't trying to impress them. He felt Dash get a bit tense when the door swung open. She had to face the fire now. She sat up reluctantly and smiled a little. "Hey guys..." She said softly. All the gang was there, including Starlight. All were jaw dropped at what they saw. Dash snuggled up in the embrace of a stallion. Rarity, of course, fainted onto her couch. To which Ghost tilted his head curiously. No horn glow, so no regular magic, yet how did she get that to appear out of nowhere, and could he keep it? It had to be a large bit comfier than the cheap loveseat he had currently. Flutters was not very willing to stay, her shyness and the awkwardness of the situation were too much for her personality and character. Applejack was just shocked. Never thought of all the mares, Rainbow Dash would be like this around a stallion. Pinkie was off spitting words too fast comprehend. Something about readers? Twilight was just had questions. Some to Ghost, some to Dash. Spike was probably the first to notice that Ghost was a rival for Big Mac and wanted to do nothing to do with that if he was to get upset. Nope. Starlight was a bit jealous that she didn't get to introduce herself first. She kind of thought he was cute. She wouldn't hide that. "This is Ghost. We have known each other since grade school. He just got back to town yesterday. So we've...uh...been hanging out since." Dash was blushing heavily, no matter she worded that, they were going to think the complete other direction. They are going to think her and Ghost soiled the sheets. Dash was very tense. She wanted to just turn and bury herself back into Ghost and try to forget this. But she knew he could only do so much. She took a deep breath which helped a bit. "Pleasure to meet you all. As Dash has already mentioned, I'm Ghost and we've been friends for many years. I am now a retired veteran who just got back from serving out of country. Me and Dash were catching up on old times and missed times." Ghost quickly stepped in once Dash was done, reinforcing her point of being old friends catching up. Also using his out of country veteran status to send their thoughts to that instead of the all the dirty tricks they could have been up too. It did work somewhat. Rarity was first to speak, she woke up after a few moments as she usually does, so she heard what Dash said as well as Ghost. "I could see why Dash would want to be around you, both of you behaving like ruffians and brutes." Did, did she just insult Ghost and Dash or was that meant to be a compliment? That was the problem with the way Rarity phrased some of her sentences. Ghost was going to stick with no comment for now. The rest, figured that if they have been friends for that long, it would make sense why Dash would be softer around him and not trying to beat him at a wrestling match. Ghost being a veteran would explain the muscle tone. This peaked Twilight's curiosity well beyond healthy. A military veteran, right here in Ponyville? Oh the questions, the research, the tests. Starlight spoke next, "Wait, how were you guys grade school friends if Rainbow grew up in Cloudsdale?" She remembered this from her trip into the past, funny enough. The one time her evil was actually trying to be helpful. "While, it would be more interesting to say that I started off as a pegasus that turned into an unicorn. That was not the case. Reality, I attended the Ponyville school and well, Dash would visit the town with her friends on the weekends, or if there was a game between schools. Since we both were into sports and competition at the time, we ended up becoming friends." Ghost replied. Keeping it interesting with the species change part in it. It got a few giggles. Most seemed to be satisfied with this answer. Pinkie was still on about something random, something about the word count being four thousand, one hundred, fifty nine. Whatever that means. She may have gone off the rails. Though Applejack now had her own question, "How many times ya lose ta Dash?" Ghost didn't know she rocked a southern accident. Though Dash blushed a bit at that question. Of course she would ask, those two have butted heads so many times in random challenges. "Oh, I neva cared if Aye won or lost. Aye was just happy ta hav'n fun wit mah friends." Ghost's take on the southern accent was spot on, and everyone was quite impressed with how he was able to just do it like it was nothing. Though it would seem only Dash really paid attention to what he said immediately. He never admitted to winning or losing to her, nor was going too. This was due to the fact that he did beat Dash in several sports she was passionate in, no matter how hard she tried. Her blush subsided with this. The next one to notice was AJ. She sort of knew that there was a secret there, but wasn't going to push it. After a few more minutes of trivia questions, the group of friends left after bringing Dash up to speed on the meeting. When they left Dash snuggled herself back into Ghost. She had stress and tension she wanted to lose and knew he was the fastest way to relieve it. "Thank you for having my back during that. I can't say there were many stallions that would have put themselves in the spotlight repeatedly like you did." She remembered all the times he was there for her when problems would arise. It was his best quality to her. Ghost started to rub her back gently again and whispered to her "You're welcome." He really wanted the best for her, if he had to put himself under fire to keep her safe, in this case, mentally, worth it. Every single time. If he got scared from it, so be it. Just another one to add to the collection. He could feel her start to melt again as she let go of the troubles of what just happened. Dash thought about it some more. Everything he has done for her, and what has he gotten out of it? He's taken punches, verbal lashings. Now what else was he going to have to endure for her? She wanted to really show him how much she was appreciating him. She wanted to wait on giving up her body. Too many times she has done that, plus, she wanted the right mood and ease into it. Kissing just wasn't enough to her. He deserved more. Then she finally decided on it. She did have something she would be willing to give him that would be intimate for the two of them. Though now she was blushing deeply as she had to convince herself to go through with this plan. Author's Note I know, it was left open ended. Going to have to wait till the next chapter to see what she has come up with. I stated this on my Daring Do fic, but not here. If you have criticism for my work. I would like to hear it. My writing can only get better right? UnboundDash had decided what to give Ghost as a true thanks for being there for her. Past, present and future. Something she could live with giving for right now and feel bad about it later, like she has done in the past. She blushed a bit as she started to turn thoughts into actions. She wrapped her hooves around Ghost and pulled him down on top of her. Nothing wrong with a sneak peak and a little show right? She knew Ghost well enough to not abuse any power she could give him. He followed the rules to his best ability. Though he wasn't quite sure what she was doing, so time to set the rules and let him play the game she had for him. She went and whispered into his ear, "I'm giving you a thank you gift. Part of my body. You can kiss anything, can do anything, except mess with my snatch. It's off limits for now." After that she laid back exposing her entire underside to him. She could already feel herself getting hot at the sensation of him pleasing her. Though she already drilled herself that she was not going let him have anything more, despite that her body would be begging for it. Ghost blushed when he was told what he was allowed to do. Dash was giving him most of her body to enjoy. He slowly eyed her body, all splayed out for his viewing pleasure. All he saw was his to play with. Though we wasn't really interested in doing anything special, he knew a few tricks and spells that would send Dash to the moon and back a few times. But he wanted to keep it personal, simple, passionate. First thing he did was kiss her right on the mouth. Dash kissed back, both blushing deeply as they held their kiss. It meant a lot to her that his first action was to kiss her. Keeping it personal and passionate between them. Ghost then moved slowly to her neck. His soft kisses sent shivers down her spine and made her moan. He was such a romantic, and she was loving it. His kisses were passionate, slow and long. It made her ache with anticipation in other areas and made her mind swim on what it was going to feel like when he got to those parts. Though she really went swimming when she felt him kiss the base of her neck. It was so tender and sensual there. She gasped and moaned deeply. She blushed hard too, she felt like she was Rarity more so than herself. This would be Rarity's fantasy. Though her thoughts came back to herself when Ghost kissed her chest. It was strong, powerful, yet soft. To Dash, it was also more sensitive than she thought it would be. She was elated when Ghost hung around to make sure she could bask in the pleasure for a while. Moaning and blushing. Her body was now super hot and really wanted to be taken to the next level. But she was going to deny those feelings. Though one thing she couldn't control, wing boner. She blushed harder when she realized she was at full span and refused to follow her commands to go back against her back. Ghost didn't seem to mind them too much, which made her blush a little less. Though her thoughts on that went away when he kissed her stomach. She grabbed a pillow to try and keep her moans from getting louder. It worked somewhat. Not as quiet as she would have liked to be. Though if she feeling this good now, she could imagine what happened when he went between her hind legs to her teets. She underestimated this big time. She thought he would make her feel good, like a little, then maybe test her limits right at the end. He isn't even trying and has her panting, gasping and moaning like he was about to stuff her. Then she felt him enter her most sensitive region. He was so close to her teets now, and she bit the pillow to hold back her moan. She could feel herself winking and her body started to build up pleasure. She was going to soak his couch before this was over and done with. She had to fight the urge to wrap her hind legs around his head. Mostly because she probably would hurt him with how hard she would squeeze him. Then she felt him kiss her nipples and almost inhaled the pillow completely. She was so tender and his kiss was way too much for her. Her building pleasure hit the peak. She started to shiver and her hind leg started to kick a few times as she shot out spurts of juices from her winking thatch. It was desperately trying to find something to milk and pull on, but there was nothing and it was tormenting her body to not have that. Ghost luckily for her stopped when she climaxed, letting her ride out her pleasure without him making her ride it out longer. When she finally says to him being able to do more than kiss, then he won't hold back. But for now, he was. Once she calmed down she felt him resume. She felt a sudden intense pleasure on her teet, one that was different from when he was kissing. It wasn't a kiss, it was a constant pressure, pulling on her sensitive nipple. He was sucking on her, and it was glorious. Then came the tongue, rubbing against her sensitive and tender nipple, caressing it within his mouth. He was pushing her to her limit again. She wished her body would reward him for his actions, but never did. His efforts, fruitless. She never lactated. She felt ashamed that she couldn't do it for him. But it seemed to not bother him any as he kept kissing her body. Now working back up, slowly. Working in gentle love bites and nips that sent her into two more climaxes before he was back up to her head. She was panting hard, she was fatigued after going through that, and blushing hard. He made her feel so good and he seemed to have enjoyed it himself. Then they kissed one last time, deeply and passionately. Dash clung to him during this. She really wanted him, but was doing everything she could to hold off till later in their relationship. Ghost flopped onto his back and Dash snuggled into him and nuzzled her face into his neck. She sighed happily and fell asleep on him. No snoring this time, but she was so adorable in this state. Ghost couldn't blame her for taking a nap two hours after she woke up. She did exert a lot of energy in that time. Mostly in letting him please her. Still couldn't believe she let him do that. Just the way she did it, she may not admit this, but she could be very romantic when she wanted to be. He also admired her ability to restrain herself. He was partially waiting for her to tell him to take her all the way. But nope, she held strong to the end. After about thirty minutes Dash awoke again, though she felt something on her back. She blushed, Ghost was rubbing her back and it felt really good. She tried to think of a quick jab to throw at him, but she found herself just enjoying the rub more. "You are way too nice, Ghost." She said, softly. Ghost's only reply was a kiss to her head. Only proving her point more. But again, she couldn't complain. Though she knew one thing. She nor Ghost could hide out in his apartment forever. They were going to have to go outside and face the music. "Ready to find out what is waiting for us?" She said softly, sitting up. Ghost nodded in reply as they both got up. Ghost had to get some new stuff for the apartment. It was pretty bland and empty. Not sure what Dash had scheduled, but maybe, if he had a few moments, he would go searching up the market for houses, figure out what the pricing was for them, anyway. They reached the door of the apartment building, Dash was extremely nervous, but then she felt Ghost pull her against his side. They were in this together, and had her in a position that was going to expose him first. They opened the door and nothing. Except for Scootaloo. She appeared to have had several emotions racing at once right now. Apparently she must have found out Dash was hanging out with a stallion. Though Ghost didn't really know who she was, at first. "Who are you?" He asked curiously. Dash was still hiding behind him, not sure who was there either, but didn't want to be seen just yet. "I should be asking you that." She rang out, who was this stallion that could just waltz in and take Rainbow Dash? She had a life of daredevil stunts and adventure to live, no time for getting cute with stallions. "Excuse me? I don't quite follow. Did I forget to pay the delivery guy again? So forgetful." Ghost retorted. He didn't follow Scoots at all, but his nature just had to make comeback out of it. "You took my world away from me! You took Rainbow Dash for yourself!" She was angry now. How dare he try to be smart with her. Who was this stallion anyway? He didn't appear to be special at all. He was a....blank flank...? A grown stallion with no cutie mark? There was such a thing? Now Scoots really wanted to know who this guy was. Before Dash could react, Ghost did, "Oh, you must be Scootaloo. I've heard many good things about you." Ghost walked to her, she didn't show any signs she wanted him to stay away, mostly because she so curious about what was going on now at this point. "You remind me so much of Dash back in our youth. Feisty, wild, and a huge daredevil. My name is Ghost, pleasure to finally meet you." Ghost sat in front of her. Smiling. Dash meanwhile was kind of surprised, Ghost had grabbed Scoots attention completely and she didn't even look at him with hate anymore. If he could impress Scoots and she not be mad at him, he had bonus points rolling in his favor. "Wait, you grew up with Dash?" Scoots never heard of anyone outside of Fluttershy who grew up with Dash. She reminded this stallion of Dash back in school? Wow. He also was pretty spot on with their personality traits. Scootaloo was very passionate about several things, the most important was her friends. Was he a friend of Dash? "Yep. We hung out together all the time. Usually on the weekends, because we grew up in different towns. Only reason you never got to see or hear of me before today, was because I was out of country serving the military. Seeing the world, fighting bad guys everywhere." Ghost really hyped up this last part. Making it sound almost like a Daring Do story. "Wow, really? You fought bad guys in exotic places!?" Scoots was no longer upset at Dash or Ghost for being together. This stallion was so awesome. A soldier who got to travel and fight bad guys? She was impressed. "Yeah. Though it sounds more exciting than it really is. Fighting isn't all that fun, honestly." Ghost shrugged. He didn't want to hype her on the wrong aspects of the stories. Dash meanwhile came and sat next to Ghost. He knew exactly what to say to get her attention off of him stealing her away in no time. Though for Scoots it was easy, she was so much like Dash, all it took was a good transition to the adventure and action and she would be hooked. "Well, uh, yeah, I guess you are right. It's no fun. But, how come you never got your mark?" She gestured to his flank. Dash was really curious on what his answer was going to be, she didn't know why he didn't earn it, honestly. "Ah, it bothered it at first, not knowing what my life was going to be. But then I accepted the fact it just wasn't going to come to me. Then I came up with this little saying for those who try to use it against me. 'The fact I lack a cutie mark should scare you. As you don't know exactly what I am capable of.' I have scared off several bullies back in high school with that remark. But to actually answer the question, I have no clue why it never showed up. I just come to prefer it the way it is." Ghost smiled a little. He came to terms with that a long time ago, and it is great inspiration to those that don't know yet either. Dash and Scoots were shocked. Sound words coming from him. Even if you weren't a fighter, naturally, that saying could help with bullies that picked on blank flanks. Plus he likes lacking his mark. Which at this point in his life, makes his saying all the scarier. "Wow." Was all Scoots could say and Dash didn't have anything to reply with. They both respected him more. "But, I really need to go and do some shopping. My new place is quite empty." Ghost commented and stood up. "It was a real pleasure to meet you Scootaloo. Hope to see you around town." Dash stood as well to travel with Ghost. She probably was going to be spending more time at his place, so she wanted to have a few things she would like there. "Bye guys!" Though she ran up and whispered to Ghost, "She really likes you, don't blow it." Ghost was surprised, apparently she noticed something about Dash that spoke to her. So she was going to go along with it and hope for the best? "I'm doing my best." He whispered back to her. He then saw her run up to Dash and whisper to her. Dash blushed and shot a quick glance to him before reverting attention back to Dash. She whispered back and then Scoots went about her day. Dash was still blushing as she got next to Ghost again. "What did she say to you?" Ghost asked softly. Obviously Scoots was wanting this to work, either for her own gain or because she genuinely wanted Dash to be happy? Dash held the answer to that. Based on the reaction, it took Dash by surprise as well and it was something about the long term relationship. "She wants us to get married. Partly because of how me and you act, second she really would like a father like you in her life." Admitting this was hard for Dash. Scoots was already thinking way down the road and their relationship just begun, well, officially. Secondly, the fact that Scoots likes him that much spoke volumes about Ghost. He would make an excellent father, and that was the part that made her blush the longest. Just picturing him raising her foals. Both of them together, being the best parents they could be. Dash had to stop herself, she started to feel warm down south and didn't want to have that. She leaned up against Ghost's side. Proud to be with him now. Scootaloo was the biggest critic and the fact Ghost won her over, made her no longer worry about the rest of the world. Sure enough though, as they were walking through town together, others were pointing out that Dash and Ghost were walking together, like a couple. Her all leaned up against him, and him holding her weight. There were some jealous looks, both from stallions and mares alike. Stallions realizing their dreams of being with Dash are gone. Mares wishing it was them pressed up against a stallion like that. Ghost was well built, strong muscles, pride in his step, so dreamy for the other mares. It wouldn't be hard to see why he would go out with Rainbow Dash. If she had an interest in a stallion, that stallion would have a hard time staying away from her. Ghost went about his shopping, getting ingredients, furniture, and books. Though, Dash couldn't complain too hard, he did buy the entire series of Daring Do. Maybe she could impress him with something. "Do you where she lives?" Dash whispered in his ear, she was trying to impress him. But he smiled, he was going to have a little fun with her. He goes and gets a map and points to the exact mark her address is. She snorted in frustration. How did he know? Well, time for question two, "Did you know I am..." Before she finished he slid two books from the series in front of her. Both mentioned her by name in them. She stomped her hooves this time. "Not fair!" Ghost kissed her cheek, "Sorry. But I will admit, you are the reason I got into the books to begin with. When I saw you on the cover, I just had to read it. Because there, right there, on the cover, was my best friend. I just had to know what you did, to earn a spot in the story." Okay, she was no longer mad. The kiss and apology alone was enough to calm her down. But the fact she got him into the series by being in it? Even better. "But how did you know where she lived?" Nothing he said, did explain how he was able to know where her house was. It took Twilight some digging to get that information herself. "We had a run in about the time the first book about you came out. I was chasing a bandit king, she was chasing the artifacts they had. She volunteered the address to me when I mentioned that I knew you personally. She said I was charming." He grinned at the last part, he couldn't help it. Dash was about to slug him in the shoulder, but he spoke again, "She said, that you were lucky to have a friend like me." "What made her say that?" Dash was genuinely curious on what she saw in Ghost, or heard about Ghost that she'd say something like that. Her favorite adventurer telling Ghost that Dash was lucky to have him. What was it? "She was curious on where I learned to fight, I admitted I first started learning when I was in school, bailing you out of the ones you couldn't win. All throughout school whenever bullies tried to back you into a corner, I would be there, to take the punches with you. That was when she said that." Oh the memories flooding back, all the times Dash would get picked on growing up, fighting back against those bullies and while Ghost wasn't at all of those fights. He was in the ones that mattered to Dash the most. Dash remembered one where she was left defenseless and actually experienced true fear for her life. It was high school, she and her team were done playing in Ponyville. Cloudsdale lost that day, not a big deal though, it happened. She was in the locker room when some colts entered. They started saying about all the "fun" they were going to have with her. She tried to fight them, but lost and they broke her wing. That alone was almost too much pain to handle. She had no fight now. That was when Ghost entered the room. He heard the breaking of her wing and came to investigate. She remembers being in so much pain when she tried to call to him, it was barely above a whisper. When he saw they broke her wing, that was it. He turned into something different. To protect Dash and himself, mostly Dash who was helpless now. For her broken wing, he intentionally broke one of their legs. He taught them a lesson, he put fear into them. He then carried her to the hospital to get treated for her injuries. Even then, he stayed by her side the whole time. Being there for her. Her injuries were minimal and she was out in a few days. But until her parents arrived, Ghost refused to leave her alone. She was always grateful for that, he kept her calm when she would have been freaking out. He also saved her from much worse. Those colts probably would have broken a few more bones before abusing her body like it was a cheap toy. "Anyway, let's get finished up. I'm ready for lunch." Ghost commented as he was finished getting the last of the book he wanted. He had approximately thirty odd some books. Not as many as Twilight, but she ran a library. Dash realized she was hungry too. Stomach growling, and all. She walked with Ghost over to a little cafe where they got some sandwiches and then sat and ate. Dash relived some other memories she had with Ghost. Holy crap he was one of her most loyal friends. She took him for granted back in the day. Though she was stubborn and hot headed, and it got her into more trouble than would like to admit, it also got Ghost into trouble as well. They both turned out alright. Though she feels like she was the one that opened the door for Ghost to join the military. If it wasn't for her, maybe he would have actually found his true calling? What was she thinking, he would have ended up joining anyway. He was built for it. After lunch, they headed back to his apartment and spent the next few hours setting everything up. New furniture, putting away the groceries, organizing his books on the shelf. Dash thought she was going to dislike that, knowing Twilight, but nope, Ghost was simple, just organize by the title in alphabetical order. Then Ghost grabbed the first Daring Do book of the series, "I actually was never able to read through the entire series from start to finish. Surprisingly enough, this is the first time I actually have all the books in my possession. Her books are hard to find in other countries." Dash beamed, she knew what was happening next. They were going to be reading her favorite series together. Since that was the first book he went for, she knew he was looking for something to do with her that they both could enjoy. She practically was dragging him to the couch with the rest of the books of the series, which was eight at this point. Ghost was just chuckling, Dash's over eagerness and excitement to share something with her new boyfriend was adorable and cute. Ghost sat on the couch and Dash plopped herself on his lap and snuggled herself into him. Once she was comfortable she closed her eyes and had him to read out loud. Which he did. Dash was just so happy during this time. Her head against his strong yet soft chest, his warmth keeping her comfortable and since he didn't need his hooves to hold the book, the way she was held in his hooves, she felt protected and wanted. His voice was soothing to her, he had this sense of power in his voice that could grab and hold attention, but didn't demand it. It was capable of booming, but also be soft. It conveyed emotion. He did a better job at painting the picture of each scene in the book than she could do reading it herself. Just the way he could find that right emotion instead of going monotone with it. Each scene vividly painted in her mind. It was almost like Ghost was narrating a movie to her. Before she knew it, he finished the first book and began reading the second one. Once again, she could perfectly see each scene in her mind thanks to Ghost. Then Ghost found her soft spot while rubbing her. Between her third and fourth ribs on each side. She gasped and her wings flung out. She urged him to keep rubbing and too keep reading. Blushing deeply at the sudden pleasure that she just felt. Her muscle right there was tense and when Ghost started rubbing on it, well, he started to relax it. Ghost kept on reading as Dash retracted her wings. He made through three books before it was time to eat dinner. Dash didn't want to get up, she was comfy and lazy. But after some persistence from Ghost she allowed him to make some food. This time it was baked potatoes, with mac and cheese and a small autumn salad. This time Dash was expecting a five star meal and not the average just follow the recipe meal she expected. Either her taste buds lied or the food lived up to the expectations she had on them. As it tasted sensational. She may have a valid excuse to actually come over outside of just seeing Ghost. Come for the food, stay for the cuddles. "Ghost, I've been thinking, and I have been wondering, what motivated you to stand and fight when I got into trouble?" She could not figure this out for the life of her. She was grateful, she thanked him for it with one of the best experiences she ever had. But, why? He didn't have too. Yet he did. "You are my best friend. You were my first true friend. The first one I could trust with anything. You stood by me when no one else did. Everyone else just picked on me or mocked me. Others stabbed me in the back if I thought I could trust them. Not you, you were there when I needed a friend. I learned to pick myself up from you. To stand for what I believed in, I got from you. The least I could have done, was be by your side when it was your turn to need a friend." Dash never knew how much of an influence she had on Ghost. No wonder he would jump in for Dash. It spoke volumes about his loyalty though. She was a friend to him, so in return, he did everything he could for her. Sink or swim he was there. Dash hugged him tightly, "I never knew." She whispered, "I never knew how much of an impact I had on you." Ghost hugged back. Embracing her as she embraced him. Dash meanwhile was just thinking back. All those times Ghost confided in her, was because he had no one else. She taught him to stand up and fight back. All those fights, he was just returning the favor for her. Dash thought she owed him a lot, but she now realizes, to him, he owes her a lot more than just that. She then whispered again, "You know, you were an idiot for getting into some of those fights." "Well, guess who I got that from?" Ghost retorted. Dash playfully hit his side for that. "But, tell me, no matter how stupid the fight was, would you have jumped in for me?" Ghost asked back to her. She never thought about it. Dash spent a lot of time asking why he did it, but never if she would do it. It was something she really thought about, but her gut kept telling her the answer, no matter how much her mind drifted on it. "Yes, I would have." She whispered to him. "The same reason you would do it for me, was the same reason I did it for you. I wasn't about to watch my best friend get hurt without whoever it was having to go through me." Ghost was extremely loyal, the unbreakable loyalty. It would bend, but not break. Only the one that he trusted with his loyalty could break it. Dash admired that in him, something she knew she probably taught him as well. To see it, was this how her friends thought of her? Does her friends see her loyalty the same way she sees it in Ghost? Dash dove in to extract another kiss out of him. Though a quick one. She and Ghost went back to the couch where once again, Dash was laid up against Ghost. Though unlike just a little earlier, she was fully clung to him. Both front and hind hooves wrapped around him. She whispered in his ear, softly, "I love you." He could feel her relax a little after saying that, as if she was anxious to admit it. Did he love her? Deep down, did he love her? "Love you too, Dash." He whispered back to her. No other mare has ever made Ghost happier than Dash makes him. He found that deep inside, he loved her, not just in a friendship way like he thought he did, no, it was more than that. He wanted to be with her every second, to make her happy, to protect her, to care for her. He desired it deep down. All the more so when saw that sparkle in her eyes when she heard him admit his feelings to her. He thought she was going to kiss him, but instead she decided to really show her adorable and romantic side, she gently nibbled on his ear, before passionately kissing his neck. Getting a chuckle before she heard him groan in pleasure from her kisses. This made her continue on a bit, hearing his oral reward for her work. Her kisses were so soft and pleasant to feel against his neck. Ghost returned the favor and started to kiss her neck again. Now they both were moaning as they made the other feel good. Dash pressing herself into Ghost as much as she could. Though this was short lived as Dash and Ghost knew if they kept it up they do something they would regret later. Dash then made herself comfy against her lover as Ghost picked up the book and resumed reading till it was time to sleep. To which Ghost and Dash both laid in bed, snuggling and holding each other before falling into a peaceful sleep. Author's Note Woo, another chapter in the books. Hope you guys like how it turned out.
Where Did We Leave Off?Ghost hopped off the train arriving back into Ponyville.
