Chapters Author's Note
I am on a roll with stories right now. No sooner do I get one done than another pops into my head. Its getting tiring
This is just a goofy one I thought of while...well, while reading a book, actually...
Hope you enjoy it! And there should be another chapter...depending on how you like this one. Let me know!
I Will Avenge Them!
Twilight yawned as she made her way down the hall to her dining room. Spike was already there, and had haycakes waiting.
"Good morning, Spike." She said, smiling.
"Morning, Twilight!" Spike replied. "How'd you sleep? You got back from Caterlot super late last night!"
"Oh, I slept alright." Twilight chuckled. "Its waking up I'm struggling with."
"Coffee?" Spike held up a large cup. She accepted it.
"Thanks, Spike." She inhaled, letting the scent of the hot liquid flood her senses. "Ah." She took a good long drink. "This is good."
Spike chuckled as he took his chair and dumped a generous amount of syrup and crushed gems on his haycakes. Twilight followed his example, minus the crushed gems, and took a large bite.
"Mmm..." she moaned, the sweet, warm syrup trickling down her throat. The haycakes were soft and fluffy, similar to clouds. In a word, perfection.
"Delicious!" She said, polishing off the rest with gusto.
Spike pushed the platter towards her. "More?"
Twilight laughed. "No, thank you, Spike. I just ate ten. But how about more coffee?"
Before he could get it, she levitated it and poured it herself. Returning the pot to its place, she grinned at the baby dragon, who was still shoveling haycakes into his mouth.
"You eat up, Spike." She teased. "We've got alot of work to do after breakfast."
"Mmfhmmm." Spike grunted.
Twilight laughed and sipped her coffee, thinking of all the work she needed to do that day. There were reports to write, planning to do for an upcoming royal event, books to reorganise, and errands to run. Yes, it was going to be a busy day.
"All finished!" Spike announced, patting his satisfied belly. "Whew. That was alot. I'm stuffed. And ready for a nap...?" His eyes looked hopeful. Twilight snickered.
"Nice try, Spike." She said. "But I really need your help today."
"Aw, ok." Spike said.
Twilight drained the last of her coffee, levitated the dishes to the kitchen, and grinned.
"To the library!"
She and her number one assistant made thier way to the library, chatting the whole way about Twilight's visit to Canterlot.
"And Celestia said to tell you hello, Spike," Twilight said as she threw open the library door. "And she said next time I come to bring...you...a...longggg...." Her voice trailed off and Spike let out a quiet gasp.
The library looked like a battle zone.
Not a single book was on the shelves. They were strewn around the room at odd angles and in odd places. Some had been scratched up, others looked to be covered in some kind of sticky mess and water stains, and more than a few were torn.
Twilight's initial shock as she took all this in gave way to deep, seething, boiling rage. Her eyes flashed dangerously, her body went rigid, and she gave a long, low growl as she took a few steps forward.
Looking around at all her well worded friends, she drew in a deep breath and let it out.
"Nopony messes with my books and gets away with it." She snarled. "I will find out who did it. I will avenge you."
"Um, Twilight?" Spike said, moving back from her as she started steaming at the ears. "Twi? Please don't-"
"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHH!!!!"
The entire castle and surrounding buildings shook with the force of her angered scream.
"-scream..." Spike finished weakly, briefly staggering from the force of it. "Uhhh." He dropped to the floor with a thud.
Twilight took little notice as she reared up, wings flared, and yelled with all the fury she possessed, "I WILL AVENGE YOU!!!"
With that, she blasted her way through the wall and vanished, leaving a very dazed Spike behind.
"Celestia help us all..." he muttered, before hiding his head in terror.

"WHO DID IT???!!! "
The angry roar made everypony cringe. The door to the bakery crashed open and there stood a very, very, VERY angry Twilight. Her furious gaze traveled slowly from pony to pony, threatening untold amounts of pain. Everypony reacted instinctively.
The Crusaders eeped and dove under a covered table. Fluttershy eeped and dove behind the bakery display counter. Pinkie eeped and grabbed a baking sheet, holding in in front of her like a shield. Applejack and Rarity stood staring with mouths agape. Rainbow Dash hit the ceiling...literally.
"I said..." Twilight ground out. "WHO DID IT??!! "
"Who did what, sugarcube?" Applejack asked, fixing her hat...which the Canterlot Voice had knocked almost off her head.
Twilight took a step further into the bakery, eyes boring a hole into her friends.
"Somepony," she snarled, "snuck into my castle and committed the most horrible crime one can commit towards books!!"
"Uh, what would that be?" Dash asked.
Twilight's eyes flashed. "THEY UTTERLY WRECKED MY LIBRARY!!! THEY SCARRED AND DESTROYED MY BOOKS!!!! NOW WHO DID IT????!!!! "
This time, the Canterlot Voice was strong enough to knock everypony to the floor, where they covered thier ears with thier hooves and trembled.
"Twilight, please stop yelling..." Pinkie pleaded, her leg draped protectively over a shivering Fluttershy. "You'll break something and the Cakes will be mad plus you'll wake the twins and then I'll have to..." A withering glare silenced her.
Twilight dragged the Crusaders out of hiding with her magic.
"Was it you?" She hissed. "Because if it was.."
"No!" Scootaloo yelled. "It wasn't! We swear! We'd never!"
Twilight growled and dropped them, and they scrambled back under the table.
"Twilight, Darling," Rarity said, lifting her head. "Don't you think you're overreacting just a bit?"
"HAH!" Twilight yelled. "Overreacting?! My books were assaulted!! They are laying in the battlefield, casualties of somepony's war!! And I will find out who. And when I do..." She cackled evilly before teleporting out with a brilliant flash of light.
"Oh my." Rarity shook her head. "That was a bit, um, frightening."
"Yeah." Pinkie said, helping Fluttershy up.
"Ah feel sorry for the poor pony who messed with her books." Applejack said, shuddering. "They ain't gonna like her reaction."
"I'm hoping it was a prank." Rarity said. "And not purposeful vindictiveness."
"Ah'm not sure which would be worse." Applejack stated. "Either way it ain't good, an' Twilight is gonna...well, Ah'm actually not sure what she's gonna do."
"Oh my." Fluttershy looked nervous. "You...you don't think she'll hurt anypony, do you?"
"In this state?" Rarity said with a sigh. "Darling, her precious books were casualties of some tragic event somepony caused. I think its quite safe to say that pony will live to regret this...either here, or on the moon."
Nopony noticed Dash looking fearfully out the window, searching for Twilight.
'I hope she calms down soon! I really don't want to be banished or destroyed or thrown in a dungeon or whatever horrible things she might do to me! '
Author's Note
I'm not quite satisfied with this chapter, but here it is.
I've rewritten the darn thing once and edited and re-edited until I'm nearly nuts.
I don't know....maybe its just me and its fine.....
....I hope.
Chaos and Destruction
Twilight Sparkle might have been a princess, but her behaviour certainly wasn't showing it. Three days had gone by since the dastardly demise of her library. She had all of Ponyville cowering in fear of her wrath by now, as she snatched them up one by one and interrogated them. They were not safe anywhere. Not even thier homes provided a safe haven from her crazed determination to exact revenge for the sake of her books.
As for said books, the ones that had succumbed entirely to destruction were laid to rest in a dust bin with loving care and lots of tears on Twilight's part. The scarred survivors had been tenderly replaced on thier appropriate shelves to "mourn the loss of thier dearly departed companions!" as Twilight put it...much to the disgust of Spike. Though he did not dare say a word against it.
As Twilight's obsession with vengeance grew more desperate, and destructive, her friends gathered to discuss an intervention. The CMCs were also present, since they had no desire to be seperated from the protection of thier older siblings.
"We have got to do something about her!" Rarity huffed, tossing her mane and scowling. "She shot a blast of magic through one of my windows and reduced several of my best dresses to piles of ashes!"
"Ya think that's bad??" Applejack snorted. "She got to chasin' somepony through my orchard yesterday an' firin' her crazy magic, an' destroyed a whole two acres of apple trees!"
"Oh dear." Rarity said, blinking in astonishment.
"Well, she blasted into the bakery yesterday right after I was done baking some cupcakes and cookies and her magic was all KABLAM! and the cupcakes went KABOOM! and the twins got woken up and started screaming and I had to go take care of them and when I got back there was a big hole in the wall and it was a mess!!!" Pinkie paused for breath. "Oh, and her magic kablammed one of Mrs. Cake's favourite baking dishes, too."
"Oh dear!" From Rarity.
"Well, um, she chased my animals this morning, with her magic blasting," Fluttershy offered. "And, um, she got Angel Bunny, but he wasn't too badly hurt."
"Oh dear!!" Again, Rarity.
"Rarity, quit sayin' that!" Applejack growled. The fashionista gulped.
"Uh, so sorry." She said.
"Well, try what she did to me!" Rainbow Dash piped up, hoping she sounded mad even though deep down she knew she was getting part of what she deserved...even if Twilight didn't know it herself yet. "She totally obliterated my favourite napping cloud with her crazy nonesense! And left a scorch mark on my flank!"
"Oh, d...." Rarity cut herself off as Applejack glared at her, daring her to finish that phrase just one more time. "I mean...ah...that's dreadful, Rainbow Dash!"
"Well, she blew a hole clean through our clubhouse!" Scootaloo piped up, indignantly.
Dash winced at that, knowing how much that clubhouse meant to her sister and her friends.
'I'm sorry, Scoots. I didn't mean for you girls to get caught up in all this. ' She thought. 'Wish I had the guts to confess to Twilight, but geez! She's so mad right now she'd blast me to Tartarus first and ask questions later! '
"Well, somepony better do somethin'!" Applejack said. "Before she destroys all of Ponyville an' Equestria lookin' for whoever done that to her books!"
"Indeed!" Rarity said as the others nodded. "Destruction of her books does not make it right for her to destroy the entire town-GAH!!"
She shrieked as the back wall of the bakery was blasted in, and Twilight appeared, mane frazzled, eyes wild with crazy rage, horn sparking. Before anypony could react, she had somehow snatched the Cake twins out of Pinkie's grasp and stared them down.
"Was it you???" She hissed. The twins cooed at her.
"Twilight, stop!" Pinkie flew to the rescue, snatching her young charges from the revenge crazed mare.
"Twilight, Ah know you're mad, but don't ya think this is goin' too far? They're babies!" Applejack said.
Twilight's crazed, evil cackle sent shivers of terror through all them.
"Mad??" She hissed out. "Oh, Applejack. You haven't even begun to see the full power of my wrath!"
She emphasised this by throwingba table through the bakery window, then she was gone, screaming,"VENGEANCE WILL BE MINE!!!!!"
"Well, that went well." Rarity said drily, as she reached under a nearby table and pulled out a trembling and whimpering Fluttershy.
Applejack groaned as she pried Apple Bloom loose for underneath her belly. Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle had somehow shoved themselves into a small cabinet. Rarity used her magic to pull them out.
"She's gonna destroy the whole dang town if we don't do something!" Dash said worriedly.
A blast outside had them going to the shattered window. Another building had been blown to bits by Twilight's magic.
"I am afraid you may be right." Rarity said solemnly. "We may need to call for backup, though. Like maybe Celestia."
"As much as Ah hate what's goin' on," Applejack said, eyes widening, "Ah hate what Celestia might do more. Ah don't know how she would act about this."
"Well, probably much worse than the time Twilight enchanted her doll and fights broke out." Rarity said.
The other grimaced, remembering all too well the furious "TWILIGHT SPARKLE!!" that had probably been heard by all of Ponyville.
"An' Ah thought she was real mad then." Applejack said, shivering slightly.
"Well, um, we have to do something." Fluttershy spoke up, eyes worried. "I mean, she's our friend. We can't let her destroy herself, or Ponyville, this way."
"I say we write Princess Celestia and tell her all about it and ask her to pretty please come help us stop Twilight from destroying anymore of Ponyville because she's mad about her books!" Pinkie burst out, in classic Pinkie style.
The others looked at each other...all but Dash...nodding in agreement.
"Alright then." Rarity said. "Pinkie, do you have...."
"A pen and paper? Yeppers!" Pinkie crowed, giving them to her.
Rarity began to write.
Dear Princess Celestia,
I do hate to bother you, but we are having a bit of a crisis here in Ponyville. You see, somepony destroyed a good many of Twilight's books, and now she has destroyed a good deal of Ponyville and its surrounding countryside searching for the culprit.
We have talked it over, and you seem the most logical choice to stop her from this destructive rampage.
Please help!!!!
Rarity
"There!" Rarity said, rolling it. "I will find Spike and have him dispatch this at once! And hopefully Celestia will hurry right here to help!"
Everypony but Dash cheered. She turned away and looked out at the almost completely destroyed town and sighed quietly.
'Oh, Twi is SO gonna get it! ' She thought. 'At least all I did was take out some books. She took out most of the buildings in town !'
*******************************
Princess Celestia was busy with a piece of cake when the letter arrived. She scanbed it and groaned loudly.
"Trouble, sister?" Luna asked. Her sister gave her the letter.
Luna started giggling as soon as she read it.
"Not exactly funny, Lulu."
"Oh, but it is, Tia!" Luna smirked. "If I were you, I would go stop that vengeance minded former student of yours before her anger extends beyond Ponyville. I do not believe Equestria could handle a tantrum of such immense proportions." She giggled again.
Celestia rolled her eyes, unfurled her wings, and took off to put an end to the youngest princess's rampage before she destroyed Ponyville completely.
If she hadn't already.
********************************
Meantime, back in Ponyville, Twilight had finally taken a break from her destruction and was going over her library very, very carefully. The course of her very intense scrutiny led her to discover something that hadn't been there the day before her trip to Canterlot...and before this fiasco took place.
One blue feather and a piece of rainbow colored hair.
In one, single instant her eyes narrowed to pinpricks and all of Ponyville heard her next words as the Canterlot Voice carried them over the town.
"I KNOW IT WAS YOU, RAINBOW DASH! AND I AM COMING FOR YOU!!!!"
And clear across town in the nearly obliterated bakery, five pairs of shocked eyes locked on the blue pegasus. Only one thought filled said pegasus's mind and made her tremble in terror.
I'm dead.
"You?! YOU did it?!" Rarity shrieked, eyes widening. Dash gulped.
"Sugarcube, Ah hate to say this, but its the honest truth," Applejack said solemnly. "Twilight is gonna make you regret this."
"She...she might yell a little." Dash stammered, though she knew that wasn't exactly true.
"Yell?!" Rarity exclaimed. "Darling, she will not just yell. She will end you! In the slowest, most painful way possible!"
Dash dropped to the floor, whimpering at the thought. Rarity was right. Twilight was going to put her through SO much pain!
"Fluttershy." She moaned, and her foalhood friend hurried to her side.
"Yes, Rainbow Dash?"
"When Twilight's done with me, can I come to you for my recovery?"
Fluttershy hugged her. "I'm sure Twilight won't hurt you, Rainbow Dash."
"Oh, Ah'm pretty sure she will." Applejack said. "Question is, how much?"
Dash groaned and looked over at Pinkie.
"Now would be a great time for a disappearing act, Pinks!" She said. "Can you smuggle me out of town?"
"Sure, if you want me to!" Pinkie said cheerfully.
"Rainbow Dash, you know very well there is no place in Equestria you can go that Twilight will not find you!" Rarity said.
Dash looked miserably at Fluttershy. "Guess its up to you to nurse me back to health." She said. Fluttershy hugged her.
"I'll take care of you, Rainbow Dash." She promised. "But I don't think Twilight will be all that bad."
"Um, Fluttershy? Ya take a good look outside the window lately?" Applejack inquired, eyebrow raised.
Fluttershy, who honestly had tried not to look, looked. "Oh...oh my." Her eyes dropped back to Dash. "I'm sorry, Dash." She rubbed her hoof gently over Dash's back.
"I wonder how much pain she's gonna put me through?" Dash said, groaning.
There was a flash, and Twilight stood in front of them, eyes blazing, looking very eerily in control of her emotions.
"I have a world of pain for you, Rainbow Dash." She said.
The others exchanged glances, wondering what was scarier: Rampaging Twilight, or Icily Calm Twilight. There was no way either of them was very good. Applejack moved to intercept her, knowing that she was taking her life into her own hooves by doing so.
"Now look, sugarcube." She said. "Ah know you're mad. But Dash here is your friend."
"She destroyed my books." Twilight said darkly. "I'm going to see that she's punished!"
"Wait!" Pinkie yelled, throwing herself on top of Dash in an effort to protect her. "Twilight, no! If you do that, you'll be a mean meany pants and that isn't you, Twilight! You can't hurt her!"
Twilight grinned almost wickedly. "After the pain and torment she put my poor books through, its only fitting she get the same thing."
"Now Twi," Applejack said firmly. "You ain't layin' one hoof on Dash!"
Twilight looked around and suddenly chuckled. Her demeanor changed instantly.
"Oh, don't worry. I'm not gonna hurt her. Much." Her horn lit up.
"Twilight Sparkle!!!" Celestia landed next to her former student. "What is the meaning of this?!"
Twilight gulped, her anger suddenly dissapating(mostly).
"I...I...it...well..." she stammered.
"Twilight, I know you are angry," Celestia said. "But that does not give you the right to destroy half of Ponyville! Or terrorise ponies. Or threaten your friends."
"I found the culprit!" Twilight burst out, as if that somehow made up for it all. Celestia's eyes narrowed.
"Did you?" She said. "Who?"
Twilight pointed a hoof at Dash, who cringed closer to Fluttershy. Celestia stepped towards her.
"Rainbow Dash." The severity in her tone made every pony in the room wince. "I hold you as responsible for the mess in Ponyville as Twilight is. She should not have destroyed it, but your prank led to it."
Twilight smiled smugly. "Now you're in big trouble!"
Dash couldn't handle the pressure. The stares. Twilight's smug smirk. With a shriek, she fled the bakery as fast as she could go. Celestia huffed and looked at the others.
"Will you try to find her? And bring her to the castle.Twilight..." her eyes narrowed. "You come with me to your castle. Right now!" She turned and flew off.
Twilight followed, positive she could convince her former teacher that destroying the town was ENTIRELY Dash's fault and not one bit her own.
Applejack turned. "Come on, ya'll." She said. "Lets go round up Rainbow Dash."
The group headed out to find thier friend, after leaving the twins with thier parents.
**********************************
When Celestia and Twilight arrived at the castle, Celestia went straight to the library. Twilight followed.
"So, it really was all Dash's fault." She said. "She wrecked my poor books. If I hadn't been in such a state of grief over them, I would never have destroyed anything. So she's the problem, not me."
Yes, Twilight! She can't refute that!
"Twilight, enough." Celestia's tone was firm and she turned around to look the younger princess in the eye. "I am disappointed in you."
Twilight's eye twitched. "But its Dash's fault!" She protested. "We should throw her in the dungeons! Banish her to the moon! Send her to Tartarus!"
Celestia sat on her rump and crossed her forelegs, her raised eyebrow and stern glare indicating she was not at all impressed.
"Rainbow Dash's actions may have contributed," she said firmly. "But you, Twilight, made the choice to lose your temper and destroy half the town. Due to her prank, Dash is, as I said already, partly responsible, and as such will be punished. Right along with you."
"Well, good. Glad to hear somepony is gonna pun..." Twilight's voice trailed off as Celestia's words sank in. "Wait...WHAT?!"
"You heard me." Celestia said calmly.
"But...but I'm a princess! You can't..." Twilight was at a loss.
"I assure you, Twilight, princesses can be punished too." Celestia said."Just because we are rulers does not mean we are above the rules. And as princesses, its even more important that we own up when we make a mistake and accept the consequences."
Twilight groaned loudly. This was NOT how this was supposed to go! But deep down she knew that Celestia was right. Dash had played a mean prank, and was partly to blame for her anger, but it had been Twilight, herself, who had made the decision to react as she did.
"Alright. I messed up." She said mournfully. "I have alot of apologies to make. Including to Dash. She looked absolutely petrified when I stormed into the bakery."
Celestia smiled. "Yes. Apologies are good, Twilight. But you are still not out of the woods yet."
Twilight groaned again at that statement.
**********************************
"Lemme go!" Dash struggled viciously against the rope that bound her. "Guys! Let me go!"
"Nope." Applejack said. "Celestia said bring you to Twilight's, so we're bringin' ya to Twilight's."
The small group was almost to the castle now. They entered without knocking and proceeded to the library, having heard voices. Celestia and Twilight looked up as Applejack and Pinkie Pie dropped thier captive to the floor. Fluttershy cowered behind Rarity.
"Rainbow Dash." Celestia said sternly. Dash panicked.
"Ok! Ok! It was stupid, I know!" She cried. "I never should have damaged Twi's books, or not confessed, or anything! I'm sorry!" She went limp and put her head down. "If you want to banish me to the moon, I deserve it."
"If she did, I'd be right alongside you." Twilight came and untied her. "I messed up, too, Dash. Only, much worse. You destroyed a few books. Me, I destroyed half the town." She sighed.
"As I was saying to Twilight before you came in," Celestia said,"you both messed up. Rainbow Dash, you are not responsible for how she chose to use her wrath, but you are responsible for provoking it to start with. So you are going to face punushment, as is she."
"Wait, you can punish a princess ?!" Pinkie gasped in shock.
"Yes, Pinkie Pie. Even princesses sometimes require punishment." Celestia said. Her gaze went to the two miscreants.
"I'm sorry, Twi." Dash said. "I shouldn't have done it. Forgive me?"
"Only if you forgive me for terrorising you." Twilight replied.
"Deal!!"
They hugged each other fiercely, and then looked to Celestia.
So did everypony else.
"Please don't be too hard on them, Princess." Rarity said, worriedly.
Celestia smiled at her, then said calmly,"Twilight, Rainbow Dash. You two are hereby sentenced to clean up and rebuild this town. As well as making apologies to the townsponies."
They nodded in relief.
Celestia rose to leave, and added,"In future, may I suggest pranks that don't involve books?" Dash blushed.
"Princess," Twilight said suddenly. She leaned in and whispered to her.
Celestia laughed. "Alright. But not too much." She flew out the door.
Twilight turned towards Dash with a mischievous smirk, levitating a poetry book off a shelf.
"Twi, what are you doing?" Dash asked, nervously, as her friend approached.
"Oh, just handing out a little...poetic justice! " Twilight replied, before pouncing and proceeding to wallop her friend repeatedly on the flank, while the others stared in shock. "You beat up my books...now it's thier turn!"
"NOOOOOOO!!!!! "
Author's Note
Heh heh....I had fun with this one. I thought the punishment fit the crime perfectly....both for Twilight and for Dash.
The "poetic justice" thing?
Popped into my head and was too good not to use
Something has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter.
