The CD industry came like a storm across Equestria: there for the rich one year; poor pony's stock the next. Mix's Tapes, a store specializing in music sales to the lower and middle classes, never stood a chance. Mixtape finds himself homeless on the streets of Manehattan desperately trying to sell the last remnants of his stock to stay alive. It isn't the first time he's faced hardship due to the two cassette tapes gracing his flank, but he thought with Mix's Tapes that his identity crisis was over.

He was wrong.

Faced with a world where one's talent decides their destiny, Mixtape finds himself an outlier as he desperately attempts to understand who he really is while also doing his best to stay alive on the cold city streets.
