Fallout Equestria Shattered Memories
Prologue
Load Full StoryIn the vast landscape of the snowy mountains, from several different sources, ponies were getting reports of mass destruction, death, and terror from the skies, striking cities and other prominent landmarks. Many of these landmarks were the crystal empire, cloudsdale, canterlot, las pegasus, and manehattan. Other smaller areas around the frozen north were also hit. As Equestria was covered in fiery death, everypony tried to escape the horror and pain that confronted them; most of them sought shelter in the Equestrian Stables.
The once peaceful land of Equestria was no more; it was filled with twisted corruption and horrors that no pony had ever seen before. Although some of the stables sheltered many ponies, the few stables in the snowy mountains were packed with up to 3,000 ponies. They had escaped the terror of the magical destruction, to live in cramped quarters. The once Snowflake covered Valley was filled with the flames and destroyed homes. The once peaceful city of Bellows Folly stood decimated with no hint of what it was before.
Most stables didn’t have much time to stay open, and once closed they never opened again. Others failed while they were sealed or sealing; some were broken into and raided. The defamation the of stables went on and on. One of these many stables was Stable 65. This particular Stable was used to house two things: scientists working on diseases, cures, and other scientific experiments, and the rest of the population of survivors. The population was not simply there for shelter but a secret social experiment to see how ponies would react to voting for different social parties, mare or stallion. Most were unnerved by this, and others didn't pay attention or mind, but both sides of the stable ended up working hard to survive regardless.
As time passed both groups arguments and fights grew in intensity since a lot of the resources began to deleplete and reach levels of unsustainability for the stable population.
Times got rough, to the point that most ponies wanted to give up and die. Hope returned when one of the groups discovered the once normal looking patch of reinforced metal had taken on a strange shape thanks to one of the residents spilling chemicals onto it, the metal wall dissolved revealing another part of the stable where scientists were secretly working.
The group that discovered this became outraged. There were a total of 59 scientists that remained, and a good percent of the tested ponies were furious and began calling for them to be executed, while others wanted them to be locked up. Finding out that they had been in an experiment for over 100 years was alot to take in.
The remainder of the ponies wished to let them off to continue their work until they discovered the cures for the diseases. During 15 long days the groups would debate on the fate of the staff, however this was postponed when the groups of tested noticed a chamber filled with strange tubes and mechanical beeping, as well as various other sounds, some of which could be heard from a strange tube. Inside the tube something was breathing. What rested inside made the left wing of the stable gasp, their eyes wide. What lurked inside seemed to be a small framed pony with very noticeable wings, and a horn upon her head. The title next to the tube said Test subject 0-40, Bluemoon Nickname given for unknown reasons. A stirr from the foal made the ponies step back. However one tripped over a loose cable in the floor, this cable was connected to life support which enacted an error causing the pod to open as the scientists tried to force the pod closed.
It was too late. The sounds of smacking and grunting could be heard coming from her muzzle as the subject opened her eyes to a world of brightness which made her wince. As she blinked away, the light is what caught her attention making her smile even more.
She was confused at what she was seeing. All the new surroundings started to make the foal cry and have a fit of anger. In her crying fit she used her horn without realizing and, in a blinding flash, she was gone. This made the groups of ponies stop what they were doing and rush around in a panic looking for the creature.
Thankfully after 30 minutes of searching around the stable they found the thing sleeping peacefully, her body back to normal but her horn was burning and charred completely black. The course of action since this was in all accounts like one of the princesses assumed by the stable residents, they enacted a law of having this pony as the new head of the stable once she grew up of course the previous overstallion/mare was resigned immediately by the voter choice.
This caused some of the residents to stir. The scientists that did have a trial based on the info of what the scientists did this trial was held for a month before being decided that they were allowed to coexist with the residents. Most of these scientists went back to working with the resources they were allowed to keep before the lab was sealed. The scientists ultimately allowed residents to visit so they could be trained in the use of the many different types of chemicals, lethal and nonlethal. Following shortly after, a large number of incidents and deaths in the new lab caused the council to pass a law shutting down the lab and sealing the new lab away with reinforced rebar.
Before sealing the previous lab away they found a water talisman somehow still functioning.
They decided that this talisman would maintain the water, and plant life allowing the stable to live on for as long as possible. The talisman came to life as it’s purpose was to run a clean water supply through the entire stable through many different pipes making sure to install pipes inside of the lab to connect to the other side of the stable before the lab got sealed.
The alicorn known as subject-040 was shortly given a nickname thanks to her blue coat. Her name from now on was Bluemoon and she lived in the stable ever since, slowly growing and being taught how to be the overmare. What made it easier was that the residents were spreading rumors of trying to not to tell the overmare in training that she was an experiment made by taint and flux inside of the secret lab. They found this information thanks to stealing notes and other documents, although only a set of few passed it down generation by generation. As time did pass however many had forgotten what taint or flux was.
Life was normal, and happy until around 200 years later when it was close to election day. The newer residents didn’t really like or tolerate this overmare very much because of her being an alicorn and all the mistakes she made. It also didn’t help that the mare was devoid of her old memories, and having awful nightmares. Years ago they decided to remove her memories and place them in memory orbs which were safely hidden in the lab.
End of prologue.
