A week before Hearth's Warming, Starlight Glimmer decides to return to Sire's Hollow in the wake of a sudden emergency. A disaster at the nearest weather factory causes the already perilous journey to be swiftly cut short as travel is rendered impossible, forcing her to take shelter at a roadside inn which finds itself full to capacity with other travellers of the same fate.

Broken heaters, freezing temperatures, limited space and growing frustration as one night becomes several will force Starlight closer than she ever anticipated to the ponies around her, complete strangers that will mean more to than she could have imagined, forcing a new perspective on what the ponies in her life mean to her.

Heavily inspired by the song Winter Winds by Mumford and Sons.
