One week after the accident

A lone figure walked down the halls of Canterlot Castle.

the figure walked up a room and looked at the one inside laying on the bed.

“She is dead.”

Two days before the accident

“uhgh……”

“what hit me…….”

“Where am i?”

“I…I can’t see………”

“Hello? HEY! CAN ANYBODY HEAR ME?!!!”

“Nothing…”

“I guess I should try and get out of here…..”

“ok….i still have my legs….that’s good I guess…wait…what am I saying? That’s Awesome!!!”

“huh….who was-“

“Oof!”

“Stay quiet Creature.” A lone figure stood over the now unconscious Creature. “I still have figured out how you tick!”

“Augh……” about an hour later the “Creature” woke up again.

“my…my eyes...they’re working!” the creature thought.

“Where… am i?” the creature thought. “what is this place?”

“Ah. So, you’re awake.” A voice said, startling the creature.

The creature couldn’t make to much out on who the figure was dimly lit thanks to the shadowy hallways of the dungeon.

“Who… who are you?” The creature asked.

“That I will answer in a moment. However, before that I must ask. Who are you and what are you doing in the Canterlot dungeons? I have never seen a beast such as yourself nor do I have any record of what you might have done.” The figure asked the creature who was in a dungeon cell.

“Surely you have a name?” the figure outside of the cell asked.

“I…I can’t remember it…” the creature said.

The creature couldn’t see it, but the figure was squinting at the possible inmate.

“You don’t seem to be lying…” the figure waved for the creature to come closer to the door.

“I’m going to check something. Come closer.” The Figure nearly commanded, then shook her head. “sorry, old habits.”

“No, no, its fine…” the creature said as he got closer to the door.

The figure lifted out a hand and placed it between the iron bars of the cell and placed it on the creature’s forehead.

“Strange… there’s nothing. No name, no home, no memories… at all…” The figure said starting to sound concerned.

“What did you just do?” the creature asked.

“I read your mind…” As the figure answered the creature suddenly retreated to the farthest wall of the cell away from the figure, with a frightened look on his face.

“Calm yourself!” The figure quickly put their hands up to try and calm the creature.

“It’s not harmful, I assure you! I simply looked at you knew of your past… except…you don’t remember it…” the figure explained.

“Oh…so what does that make me?” The creature asked in a scared tone.

“I do not know…” The figure put a hand to their chin, “I am not sure how to help you…um…” the figure remembered that the creature in the cell did not have a name. “You need a name.”

“Um…” The creature looked to be at a loss.

“You have brownish hair on your hair…though that seems to be all the hair you have on you save for light hairs on you arms and legs…” the figure thought for a moment, “Gaia? No, no, that not the right one… Cider? No, that won’t do either…”

The figure went through a few more names before finally settling on one. “Oak. Yes. Yes, I believe Oak will do quite nicely.”

“So…that’s my name?” The creature now dubbed Oak asked.

“I believe so, or at least it’s a good placeholder until we find your original one.” The figure said with a smile.

“So, what’s your name?” Oak asked looking at the figure.

The figure was about to answer before the sound of a heavy door was heard from a distance down the hallways.

“I will answer that next time, but sit tight, ill be back as soon as I can.” The figure vanished in a light blue flash of light.

“Ok…” Oak said as he heard the steps get closer.

“Oh, ho ho ho! Time to continue our research, yes?” The new figure said with a crazed laugh.

One day before the accident

Oak woke up to see the sky, the moon’s light shining through the cell’s small window.

“Do you like it?” the figure asked from outside the cell startling Oak.

“Um, yes, it’s very pretty,” Oak said turning to the figure.

“Thank you, I like to think this is one of my better-looking skies.” The figure said.

“You made sky?” Oak asked.

“Goodness no!” The figure laughed, “I simply, paint it, as it were.”

“Alright…” Oak said not fully understanding what was going on.

The figure was about to say something when the door opened to reveal another figure, “Princess Luna! What are you doing down here with these disgusting things! Come, come, I have been looking for you for hours now!” the new figure rushed over to the figure named Luna and started pulling her out through the doorway by her arm.

“Enough, Xeno. I am capable to keep myself safe and unharmed in this dungeon. I have been living here for longer than you have.” Luna pulled her arm out of Xeno’s grasp. “Just because you have taken the heart of my sister does not mean you have my trust.”

“You hurt me, Luna! I have done nothing to harm you sister, nor have I done anything to harm you. Your constant accusations are getting quite annoying to both me and your sister!” Xeno grabbed Luna’s arm again then continued to pull her away from Oak’s cell. “Now come. Your sister would like to have a few words with you.”

Luna and Oak shared one last glance before she was out of sight.

A few minutes later another new figure walked by Oak’s cell and opened the door. “Don’t worry,” the new figure said as he saw Oak cowering in a corner of his cell, “I’m not like the other one.”

“What are you going to do to me?” Oak asked cautiously.

“Help you escape.” The figure said.

Meanwhile, Luna and Xeno had entered a study room. It was quite large for what it was, with a marble ceiling, a large dark blue rug spread across the floor, and at the center of this huge rug was a large desk. and sitting at this desk was the figure that the two were looking for.

“Sister, what is going on that I had to be dragged here by your fiancé?” Luna asked quite annoyed.

Celestia, the monarch of the sun, stood from her seat and walked over to her husband to be and her sister. “Dragged? Xeno would not something so crass, now as to why you were brought here, Xeno’s has something that he said we should both hear.”

“Thank you, my love,” Xeno smiled at his fiancé with a grin that luna despised. “Now what I am going to show you must not leave this room, its very fragile and I don’t want this to be put in the wrong hands.”

Xeno pulled out a small box-like device about the size of his hand in length, while its width was about a third of if hand across. A small metallic gold section extended from the base, and a label that went across the entire side of the box, this label had a stylized U on it.

“what is this?” Celestia asked.

“I do not have a proper name for it yet, but its function is to contain memories.”

“An information storing device? That’s what you dragged me here to see?” Luna asked frustrated.

“Not memories as most ponies know them, this device is meant to be used for research.” Xeno elaborated.

“How so?” Celestia asked, curious on this little device.

“This device allows one to transform into a certain being, what that being is will be determined by what memories the device holds.”

“Transformations? You said this was for research.” Luna asked.

“You do not seem to understand what I'm saying Luna, the device transforms the user into whatever is stored in it, giving the user knowledge on what it feels like to be a certain subject. The best way for you to learn about something is learning from the source.” Xeno explained.

“So how does it work exactly?” Celestia asked.

“That is partially why I am only showing you two, it's not fully ready for use, but we are getting closer to a full working model,” Xeno said excitedly.

“Something doesn’t feel right about this…” Luna thought to herself and was about to voice her opinion before she was interrupted by Xeno.

“And now, while I would much rather stay up and continue my research, it is time for sleep don’t you two?” Xeno asked the princesses.

“yes, I believe it is time for me to adjourn for the day, I leave the kingdom to you Luna, have a good night.” Celestia said with a smile.

As the two lovers left the study, unbeknownst to the two of them Luna frowned. “he is up to something…my sister may think he is a good pony… but this feels off…” Luna thought to herself. “now to get back too Oak…”

One hour before the accident.

“Quickly now, Hurry!” Oak was told as he was given a metal briefcase. “What I did to you yesterday will help you as you flee, but you must hurry!”

“but what about you professor?” Oak asked.

“I’ll be fine, but you cannot linger here, you get out of here and find a partner!” the professor said to oak ask he pointed to a doorway, “that door will lead to a safe exit. Quickly go!”

Oak made his way to the door reluctantly, “but what about you?” oak asked turning around.

The professor opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by the sound of a different door opening. “Professor! Where are you? It's almost time!” Xeno yelled out for the Professor.

“go, quickly, I’ll distract him.” The professor said to oak as he walked out to meet Xeno.

“Welcome back sir, almost time for what?” the professor asked.

“you know what. our time frame has been moved. The night princess is on to us. We have to move!” Xeno said as he grabbed an oddly shaped belt buckle like device.

“But sir-”

“But nothing.” Xeno pulled out the small device he had shown the princesses.

-UTOPIA-

“It begins tonight.”

A few minutes before the accident

Oak ran down the tunnel as fast as he could.

“what is happening?” Oak ran down the hallways.

“who was that guy?” Oak made a right turn.

“what is this thing?” Oak looked down at the suitcase.

“What are you doing here?” Luna said before Oak ran into her knocking both of them over to the floor, knocking open the briefcase in the process.
Inside were six devices similar to the memory devices Xeno had shown the princesses the day before, two watch like devices, an oddly shaped weapon, with a small port for one of the devices in it, and an oddly shaped red, metal, belt buckle of sorts. two ports were visible on the buckle that looked like they could hold the memory devices in the briefcase.

“more of those memory devices!” Luna said in surprise. “why do you have them of all creatures?” Luna turned to oak who was hurriedly trying to close the briefcase, only to be stopped by Luna’s hand. “answer me!”

“I don’t know! The professor just gave me that and told me to run-”

KABOOM!!!

A large explosion came from the center of Canterlot castle interrupting Oak, distracting Luna, causing parts of the ceiling to collapse, and giving Oak enough time to close the briefcase and continue running down the hallway, Luna following close behind.

“Where do think you’re going?” Luna teleported in front of Oak in a flash of light.

“I don’t know, I just doing what the professor told me to…”Oak trailed off as he noticed the red buckle in Luna’s left hand, “Hey, Give that back!” Oak lunged for the buckle, only for Luna to side step him.

“not until you explain what this is,” Luna replied, holding up the buckle.

Oak reached for the buckle again, this time getting his right hand on the buckle.

“DNA SCANS COMPLETE. USERS IDENTIFIED. USER DNA ENCODED AND LOCKED.” The Buckle played back a message as it started to shine a bright white engulfing the two.

“What just happened?” Luna asked as she loosened her grip on the buckle as Oak pulled it to himself.

“I don’t know, but the professor said I had to find a partner…” Oak trailed off as he put the buckle on his waist.

As he did so, a dark grey belt extended from the left side of the buckle, traveled around Oak’s waist, and connected to the Right side of the buckle, a small holster like box extending itself out of the right side of the belt. After the belt had secured itself on Oak’s waist, a second Belt and buckle that mirrored Oak’s exactly appeared in a flash of white light on Luna’s waist.

“What did you just do?!” Luna asked as she tried to remove her belt to no avail.

“I…i…” Oak was about to answer when a message of sorts played in both of their minds.

“these Gaia Memories and Driver are not of this world and nor is Xeno. Be careful on how you proceed.” The voice of the professor said before images of two individuals wearing the same belts appeared in their minds, both lifting up two of the devices and inserting them in the opposite sides of this Buckle.

As the message and the images faded from their minds, Oak and Luna looked at each other, not sure of what they were supposed to do next.

Luna was about to speak again before more of the ceiling started to collapse.

Oak quickly opened the briefcase then looked at Luna.

“Do you have the courage to trust me?”

Luna looked at the Devices in the briefcase, then hesitantly grabbed a yellow one with a stylized L on it.

Oak grabbed a black one with a stylized J on it.

“Right then…” Luna said.

“Here we go.” Oak finished.

As the two inserted the Devices in the buckle, Oak inserting his on the left, and Luna putting hers on the right, and in an instant, both were engulfed in a flash of Purple and Gold light, as the last of the ceiling crashed to the ground.

Meanwhile, the Throne room was in shambles, fire and debris were everywhere, and at the center of it, one figure stood above the monarch of the sun.

“It’s over your majesty… I win.”

From beneath the castle, a bipedal being climbed from the rubble, protected by armor hued in golden yellow on its right side, while it left was colored black with violet highlights.

The figure was carrying the limp, unconscious form of the Monarch of the Moon.

“What is this?” Asked two overlapping voices.

A loud scream resounded from inside the castle, a few moments later a monster flew above the castle.

“This world is will be unified.”
