Discord was once feared. Once worshipped. He was the spirit of Chaos, the very embodiment of Change, yet he was also a ruthless monster. Instead of raining chocolate milk and animating furniture, he rained hellfire and animated organs to burst out of bodies. When he was defeated by Celestia and Luna via the Elements of Harmony, he decided to change his approach, becoming the childish jester that so antagonized Twilight's every waking moment.
One day she speaks her mind to him, telling him to take her seriously.

So the lord of Change decides it's time to undo a change, to give her exactly what she wished for.

After all, there was a reason that one of the original tales of him ended with the maxim, "Be careful what you wish for - you just might get it."

And more importantly, he'll get you.

After all, the biggest change - the only one that truly intrigues him anymore - that he's never successfully reverted is the change between alive and dead. Unfortunately, to keep experimenting he need a lot of corpses, and, well, he enjoys seeing beings react to their friends passing. The more inventive the better.

And he's so very eager to continue deriving entertainment from those changes.
Entertainment, horror, torture, same thing really.
