Crystalline love
Celestia's sun rose in the sky above the Crystal Empire, signaling the start of the new day. Everywhere ponies were starting to get up and begin the day. The crystal ponies went about their day opening up the shops and stores.
While in the Crystal castle, Cadance woke up with a spring in her step because today was the day that she was going to confess to Twilight. She got ready and put on her regalia and walked out her bedroom door with a smile, waving at every guard and maid that she saw.
As she walked past, a few of the maids began to chat with each other.
"Is it just me or is the princess in a happier mood than usual?"
One of the maids shrugged. "Who knows, but what ever has her this happy must be important."
Cadance continued her walk through the crystal palace until she came upon the dining room doors. Opening them with her magic, Cadance strode inside with that happy smile and took her seat at the head of the table.
"Well well well, what has you in such a good mood princess?" The servant said as he walked up to Cadance.
Turning to the servant she gave him a happy smile before responding. "Today's the day Silver Crystal, i'm finally going to confess my feelings to Twilight." She finished with a happy squeal.
Silver smiled. "Your finally going to tell her? Well, I wish you the best of luck. Now on to business, what would her highness like for breakfast this fine morning."
Cadance put her hoof to chin in thought, thinking of what she wanted. When she finally decided on what she wanted she turned back to Silver. "I would like French toast with some blueberry pancakes and a glass of orange juice please."
"Coming right up your majesty." The servant gave a bow before leaving to get the princess her order.
While Cadance was waiting, her thoughts ran back to the day that she realized she was in love with Twilight.
"Go! Cadance, run!" Twilight yelled.
"I can't leave you to face Sombra alone! Let me fight with you!" Cadance pleaded with Twilight, but her answer stayed the same.
"No! You need to run Cada-" Twilight was cut off as a black crystal came up from the ground and went right through her chest. The Crystal heart in her magic hit the ground with a thud.
"TWILIGHT!" Cadance ran up to Twilight's unconscious form and pulled her off the crystal and quickly started to heal her with her magic. "No. Twilight, stay with me." Tears fell from her face as she frantically tried to heal Twilight. Cadance was able to seal the wound, but a voice spoke up from behind her.
"She talked to much and wasn't paying attention, so I took the opportunity that I saw." Sombra finished with a chuckle and flashed a sharp toothy grin.
Hearing Sombra's voice made Cadance seethe with anger. She put Twilight's body on the ground as gently as she could. "I'll come back for you Twilight, I promise." She got up and gave one final glance to Twilight before turning her full attention to Sombra. "You will pay for this!" Cadance yelled as she charged the Dark king.
"Hmph, I accept your challenge." Sombra smiled wickedly as he charged.
They both clashed horns for second before Cadance spread her wings and took flight. When she was in the air she fired a blast at Sombra.
"Too easy." Sombra said as he fired off a dark blast that hit Cadance's head on.
While the two clashed with each other, Twilight regained consciousness and looked at the on going battle. Getting up on shaking hooves, she made her way over to the Crystal heart and picked it up. She limped over to where the Crystal heart was supposed to be and placed it in it before collapsing to catch her breath.
A massive wave of magic erupted from the heart and started to spread all across the empire.
While both royals clashed, Sombra looked up at the sudden light. "NOOOO!" The light hit Sombra and his body began to crack before completely shattering into nothing.
Cadance turned her head to the castle and saw the Crystal heart in it's rightful place and Twilight on the ground next to it.
She ran over to Twilight who was getting up off the ground.
Cadance stopped in front of Twilight and pulled her into a hug. "You scared me Twilight. Please don't do that again." She said as a tear fell from her face.
Twilight returned the hug and gave a weak smile. "I'm sorry Cadance. But at least it's all over."
As they embraced each other, they didn't even realize that the Crystal Empire turned from a dull gray into a vibrant cascade of colors.
They both released the hug and began to laugh. When they stopped laughing Cadance draped a wing over Twilight and helped her inside the castle.
When they got to the room that Twilight was staying in, Cadance opened the door with her magic and helped Twilight inside. Cadance carefully got Twilight into the bed and gave her a smile. "You should be fine here for now Twilight, if you need anything just call, ok."
Twilight nodded as she started to fall asleep. Cadance stared at Twilight's sleeping form and began to smile. 'She looks so cute and adorable while she sleeps.' Cadance thought.
Cadance walked out of the room and made her way down the hall to make sure that her subjects where ok. As she was walking, Cadance began to blush as she thought about Twilight. Her smile, her laugh, her thirst for knowledge, the way she beams when she masters a complicated spell and her all around adorable nature.
Cadance froze in place as realization struck her.
She was so close to losing the one pony she cared for the most.
Twilight and everything that she loved about her was almost taken away in the blink of an eye.
Cadance's eyes widened. Loved. She loved everything about Twilight. She, loves Twilight.
A blush crept onto her face and soon her entire face was red as she finally realized it. "I'm in love with Twilight."
"Your highness."
Cadance shook her head out of the memory and turned to Silver. "Huh? What did you say?"
"Your meal is ready, enjoy, your majesty." Silver gave one final bow and left the room.
Cadance turned her attention to the food and began to eat.
After about an hour, she was finished eating. Cadance got up and made her way out of the dining room and walked out of the castle.
Once outside, she looked around and saw ponies going about their day. Cadance smiled and walked towards the train station. Once their she got into her personal car and waited for the train to go.
"Next stop, Ponyville!" The conductor called.
The train began to move and started it's journey towards Ponyville. Cadance took this opportunity to take a quick nap.
After about five hours, the train screeched to a halt, waking Cadance up. She got and yawned while stretching out her hooves. She looked out the window and judged that it was about 2pm.
The train doors opened, Cadance walked out and made her way towards Twilight's castle. On the way their she passed by ponies and gave them a wave before resuming her walk to her destination.
When she got to Twilight's castle, Cadance stopped in front of the two large crystal doors. She took in a breath and let it out, steeling herself. "Ok Cadance, your going walk in there, talk to Twilight, ask her on a date and then after the date you are going to tell her your feelings." Cadance took in one final breath and let it out.
She put her hooves on the doors and opened them. She walked inside and began her search for Twilight. Cadance went from room to room looking for her but to no avail.
She stopped in her tracks as a realization hit her. "Of course, she is going to be the library. Why didn't I search there first." Cadance finished with a chuckle.
Walking up to the library doors, Cadance opened them and saw towers of books. Cadance looked down from the towers and saw a little purple glow coming from behind a book.
Cadance smiled then chuckled softly. 'Same old Twilight.'
She went up to Twilight with a smile and announced herself. "Hello Twilight."
"GAHHHH." Twilight jumped into the air startled and hit one of the towers of books, knocking it over and having all of them land on top of her.
Cadance walked over to the pile and used her magic to take the books off of Twilight. "I'm sorry Twilight that I startled you."
When the books that covered Twilight were gone, she looked up and saw Cadance. "Cadance! I didn't know you were visiting, you should have sent a letter." Twilight said as she got up and dusted herself off.
"Well, I thought I would surprise you, and by that recent reaction, I succeeded." Cadance teased.
Twilight blushed. "I-I still don't like what you did." She stammered out.
Cadance chuckled. "I'm sorry, Twilight."
Twilight chuckled along Cadance. "It's ok, by the way, are you here on royal business?"
"No, I came here to see you."
"Really?"
Cadance nodded. "I came here to see if you will go out with me." Please say yes please say yes.'
Twilight's face lit up. "Of course."
'Yes.'
Twilight's face turned to confusion. "But, might I ask why?"
Cadance stopped her mental hoof pumping and turned her attention back to Twilight. "We haven't seen each other since the whole Sombra incident and I wanted to spend the whole day with you today. Maybe go out and get something eat and then catch up."
"Oh, well there is a guest room you can use down the hall for you to get ready in."
Cadance smiled. "Thank you."
"No problem, for me I have to clean up a mess that someone made." Twilight squinted her eyes and smirked.
"I can help you if youneed it."
Twilight shook her head and put up a hoof. "No, I can do this my self, just go focus on getting ready."
Cadance nodded slowly and left the room to go to the guest room that let her use. Once she reached it and opened the door, she walked inside and closed it behind her. As soon as the door closed Cadance began to hop in place with a beaming smile. "Twilight said yes to going on a date with me. This is going to be the best day of my life." She finished with a happy squeal.
She hopped over to the bathroom to take a quick shower and get ready for her date with Twilight.
On the other hoof, Twilight was in her library putting her books back in the proper placing.
Twilight tapped a hoof to her chin as she had a book in her magic. "Let's see let's see, where do you go." Twilight darted her eyes around until they landed on the proper shelf. "Ah, there you are." Twilight placed the book on the shelf and then repeated the process until all the books where neatly placed back where they belong.
When Twilight finished she teleported back to her room to get a shower and get ready so she could hang out with Cadance.
When Twilight finished getting ready she teleported down to the map room to wait for Cadance. As she was waiting, Twilight pulled a book from under the table and began to read to pass the time.
As she was reading she didn't hear the hoofsteps behind her getting closer.
Cadance was right behind Twilight and was smiling. 'Same old Twilight.' Cadance suppressed a giggle. "What are you doing." She whispered into Twilight's ear.
"AHHHHHH." Twilight jumped into the air and then landed back on the ground with a thud, the book following soon after and hitting her on the head.
"Ow." Twilight rubbed her head where the book hit. "What was that for!" She said getting up.
Cadance was doing her best to not laugh. And she was winning that fight. "Sorry Twilight, but I couldn't resist."
Twilight took her hoof off her head when the pain went away. "Can we just go." Twilight pouted.
Cadance gave a warm smile to Twilight. "Of course, Twily."
Both princesses went to a restaurant for lunch named C'est Magnifique. They sat down and ordered their meals. After some time passed they got their meals and began to eat.
"So Twilight, how have you been? Learn anything new."
"I've been doing fine, learned a few new spells, but nothing too exciting. What about you?"
Cadance slumped in her chair. "Brutal. I have so much to do that it's overwhelming. I hardly ever get a break, i'm just glad I was able to come down here and spend time with you."
Twilight frowned. "I'm really sorry you have so much to do." Her frown quickly turned into a smile. "But it's always nice that you get to come and visit."
Cadance straightened herself out in the chair and then smiled herself. "Yeah, it is always nice to see you." Cadance began to blush. "I have something to tell you Twilight."
Twilight looked at Cadance confused. "What is it?"
Cadance's blush deepened. "I would rather tell you in private." Her voice just loud enough for Twilight to hear.
Twilight nodded but got a little worried about Cadance.
They finished their meals and payed, they exited the restaurant and stopped outside.
"Follow me Twilight." Cadance spread her wings and took flight, landing on a cloud with Twilight landing not long after.
"What is it that you need to tell me Cadance?"
Cadance steeled herself and took a breath in and let it out. 'Here we go.' "Twilight, I-I-I'm in love with you." Twilight's eyes widened but Cadance continued. "Back at the Crystal Empire, when I closed the door to room you were staying in, I began to think about you. Your smile, your laugh, your thirst for knowledge, the way you beam when you master a complicated spell and your all around adorable nature. As I was thinking about these things, I froze and realized. I was so close to losing you." Tears started coming down Cadance's face as she looked up at Twilight. "I almost lost you, Twilight. When I realized that, I knew I fell in love with you. I knew I already loved you, but when I almost lost you that love transformed into romantic feelings. So I will say it again, I love you Twilight." Cadance finished with one final tear coming down her face.
Twilight stood there for what seemed like hours trying to process what happened. When she finally processed it all she turned her attention back to Cadance and took a step forward. "Did you mean everything you like about me?"
Cadance nodded her head. "Every word."
Twilight smiled sweetly and continued to walk forward until she was right in front of Cadance. "Do you truly love me?"
Cadance looked directly into Twilight's eyes. "More than Equestria it self."
Twilight leaned in and captured Cadance in a loving kiss. Cadance was surprised at first but slowly closed her eyes and melted into the kiss. They stayed that way for what seemed like hours, but the need to breethe hit them and they parted. Both of them stared into each others eyes until Twilight put a hoof to Cadance's cheek.
"I love you too, Cadance."
